Ok attempting to be serious  I’m feeling as if it took a long time for Nervous to feel comfortable enough to love someone ‘comfortably’ like my man has serious abandonment issues and has been experimented on since he was a child (??) so it doesn’t really come “naturally” to him. The first time he lets Pascal hug him, Nervous almost crushes the life out of him hugging him back because he doesn't’ realize his own strength. Also he loves Tycho so, so so much but that’s to be expected honestly.

General Opinion over said character: He's really just a little boring guy got a lot of respect for this boring man

A BROTP I have with said character: Again, limited options! in no particular order: possibility a, isaac. they're so pissy and petty and they aren't even the same age. It'd be so funny to see them having to tolerate each other. they both can summon knives in different ways (but possibly because of the same reason, depending on how close Kai keeps this to the source insp). Charlie already almost got Isaac stabbed to death twice canon this would be such a dumpster fire but pretty entertaining. possibility b: Chris. already sick of each other so unless they both got some things resolved not plausible. possibility c: Other jackson brother? Phineas I think? could have potential. we don't know anything about him. possibility d: Britney. She did stab him and they do hate each other with violence but since she apparently can't kill him it could work if they were forced to work together. Potential potential! possibility e: Nolan. A random headcanon: Jokingly: If he was normal he'd doxx people on social media after deciding they're problematic because they had a minor disagreement with a friend or something. Semi-seriously: I could be wrong, but if someone offered him a therapist I don't think he'd actually fight them that hard on it? And idk I think therapy would make him nonhorrible pretty quickly.

General Opinion over said character: A little guy who's SO annoying. He's also really funny though, and if you ignore the attempted murder and also ruining Chris's life as his only source of entertainment for years, not that bad tbh. irl I'd be pretty tempted to tag along with him all day just to see the problems he causes.

misc. thoughts: I.... have way too many random and disorganized thoughts on Itachi to go into. He's just a horrible dumpster fire of a man and I find that very compelling. I do think it's pretty interesting that there's..... actually not a lot of fic focused on him, compared to how popular a character he is? And I sort of wonder if it's because he's actually really hard to write or like... he occupies a space in canon that's difficult to mess with? Hmm.

I finished s1 of Violetta and here are my hot takes on the characters after 80 episodes:

Tomás - Worst character, good riddance. They try to make him the “nice guy” but he’s so often the opposite. He treats all the girls poorly and is just so immature and dumb. And at his best is just dull - no real charisma.

León - I have a soft spot for the guy, and I do root for Leonetta. I thought he was a really good bf to Vilu, but he really needed to reign in the jealousy and competitiveness with Tomás. I worry for how they develop his character bc he has potential but unless your name is Manuel I don’t trust main DCLA love interests. I’m bummed this is the end of piano man León since I hear he switches to guitar. Still, I’m excited for more songs because Jorge has one of my fave voices in the show.

Andrés - He’s so dumb but man does he make me laugh.

Maxi - This boy is a mess but is very lovable. His style is really iconic. Sometimes his love life was too much of a dumpster fire for me but he and Naty made a very cute couple. Unfortunately, they also have a lot of problems - Ludmi being the biggest lol

Naty - Soft, angel baby who deserves the world; top tier character; would die for. I’m glad she found love with Maxi but my preferred ship is probably Luty if Ludmi would only treat her how she deserves. I also need her to finally shine in performances. She kept getting parts that ended up being replaced by Vilu or thwarted by Ludmi! Don’t tease me show!

Luca - He sure was there lol, though I did enjoy his relationship with Fran - he’s a good big bro even if he’s not always showing it in the best way. His voice was a nice surprise.

Bracco - My tall boy! I will miss this cute man and his silly bear metaphors.

Napo - Bracco’s short bf! I’ll miss him being the only one with full access to brain cells. Always standing up for people and what was right. His brotp with Naty is highly underrated. He went from competing with her to be Ludmi’s assistant to sticking up for her against Ludmi :’)

Fede - He was a very weird and confusing character. I get he was against lying which is a good thing but he was super annoying about it lol. Far different from Matteo tho which was interesting to see from Ruggero. I hope when he returns I like him more. I wish he never had a crush on Vilu bc their friendship was really sweet. Intrigued how Fedemilla will become a thing

Vilu - I really thought I wouldn’t like her but she’s really a sweetheart, a bit indecisive and foolish at times but only in a very normal teenager way. I think she handles her father well because tbh he’s usually in the wrong. And even to her love interests, she stands her ground quite a bit which I appreciate. I think the show treats her too much like a goddess but she herself is humble and kind. Also her voice really is all the show hypes it up to be. I really love it.

Fran - My favorite from the beginning, and her character arc through the season was my favorite - that final speech to Vilu said it all about how unimportant Tomás really is in the grand schemes of things. Another voice I never get tired of hearing. I think she really goes above and beyond for her loved ones and deserved some love in return. I also adore her friendship with Vilu. I can’t help but ship them bc they just scream soulmates (I could make a whole other post).

Cami - She’s really all over the place this season. I did feel bad for her on some occasions and understand her desire to prove herself, but a lot of times she just comes off as an incessant complainer. I hope she improves or they just write better stories for her that showcase her flaws in a way that helps her overcome them. I love Franletta but it’s a shame that Fran/Vilu gradually become closer making her an obvious third wheel. So I’m excited that she and Ludmi/Naty will get closer later on.

Broadway - I almost forgot to include him which says a lot about his character unfortunately.

Ludmilla - She’s completely over the top and looney which can be entertaining but I’m looking forward to some real character development from her. I know most of that happens in s3 so will be excited when that happens. She needs to admit that Naty is more than just her assistant. Shes far too conceited atm but I think Naty means a lot more to her than she lets on.

Germán - OMG get help!

Angie - I have mixed feelings. I love her love for Vilu. She and Pablo are great. Germangie is just a whole mess and she handles it poorly and I agree with Pablo most of the time regarding her lying problem.

Ramallo - The only man on this show with rights

Olga - Extra in the best ways - however I do think she really should be more respectful of Ramallo’s personal space

Jade - GIVE THIS WOMAN AN EMMY. She always delivers. Also I think genuinely could have some proper development if they allowed for it.

Mati - Parkour! I love his crazy zany physical comedy. Both he and Jade are just an amazing comedic duo.

Pablo - I still can’t believe this is the same guy that’s Nina’s dad. He’s reminds of a good version of Mr.Shue lol. He’s a great head of the studio and I love how he unites everyone. I wish he and Angie stood a real chance but he accepts that shes in love with German even when she won’t and it makes me emotional. Except he can be too jealous at times and lash out at her unfairly.

Beto - What a lovable klutz and even tho I hate Tomás, the way he mentored him and took him under his wing was absolute preciousness.

Gregorio - A highly entertaining antagonist. Another outstanding comedic performer. And the true range this actor has from this role to Rey in Soy Luna.

S2 here I come - please give me good new characters and don’t destroy the ones I love and improve on ones who need it 🙏🏼 Amen

He probably likes peach on his pizza. Not pineapple, he just cuts up a cold ass peach in little blocks and puts them on his pizza. He seems like the type that'd do that shit just to annoy others around him. But he does it unironically.

I, too, am annoying <3 But at least I'm honest and ironic about it, god bless.

Anytime he kisses God's ass. Literally he's the Peter Pettigrew of the SPN franchise, and God is his Voldemort. Absolute dickwaffle.

head canon: First, that L and Beyond did in fact meet, and L lied to Naomi about only knowing ‘of him.’ Past the mimicry in appearance, Beyond mirrored some things L says in the manga, like about how he sits and the percentage rise in his deductive ability. Second, I don’t think that Beyond ever felt defeated by L although L did stop him. The reason is something he said to Naomi, along with many other clues:

L never truly figured out the LABB case because he never knew about Beyond’s shinigami eyes. Beyond knew he’d be stopped, but only set up the wild goose chase to die feeling like he’d stumped L forever. I imagine that when L was on the Kira case and wondering how the second Kira could possibly see names, he thought about LABB and Beyond.

Character take: Ursa and Lu Da

Finally getting around to this.  Since I can’t resist the urge to talk about my OC when asked, here is my take on these characters for @crookedmouth-mountainbones​ in return for their character ask post on Hakoda and Zhao.  Also, if you’re interested, check out this amazing art of Lu Da by monochrome-swirl.

Ursa

Sexuality Headcanon: I want to say heteroromantic demisexual (though I could see her as bi-curious at least once in her life).

Gender Headcanon: I view her as female/traditional feminine but I also don’t know that she would have had much agency in this department at the time given high-bred society's heavy-handed constructs and their expectations of baby factories women.

A ship I have with said character: Throw words at me all you want but I gotta say Ursa/Ozai.  Is it toxic?  Yes, but I also refuse to believe they started out that way and, okay, maybe I have a thing for beautifully tragic romances.  No hate to those who enjoyed the comics, but they are not canon for me (I do have a headcanon for their relationship and what led to their demise in my fic).  Even the creators admitted they likely didn’t start out so bad.  And though it was just a tease, the glimpse we see of Ozai standing in Ursa’s favorite spot at the turtleduck pond shortly after she was banished, brooding and despondent, is proof to me that there was something deeper between them at one time.

A BROTP I have with said character: This one’s tough for me as Ursa is developed so little in canon.  Imma be lazy and say the turtleducks? lol

A NOTP I have with said character: None really other than the obvious, Ursa/Zuko or Ursa/Azula.  Just a huge nope *squick*.

A random headcanon: We know she was fond of the theater and I imagine Ursa was a great singer and songwriter as well and probably enjoyed performing.

General Opinion over said character: Mixed feelings.  On one hand, if we're considering the comics, I understand that however decent their marriage may have been at the start, things ended in a dumpster fire – so badly that she sought to have her face changed and memories erased to forget Ozai ever touched her life.  Who could blame her for that?  But the problem is, in doing so she also erased her children.  Now, as a mother myself, I just can’t imagine doing this and I have a hard time absolving her of it, but I also understand she likely had complex PTSD for a whole host of reasons.  And I know that no matter how you might try to put yourself in someone’s shoes, we all deal with trauma in our ways, and she was just trying to survive and move on.  I guess I'm ambivalent about her character.

Lu Da

Sexuality Headcanon: Comfortably heteroflexible leaning bisexual/biromantic; preference for women but also attracted to men.

Gender Headcanon: Mostly leans traditional masculine/male but again I think there’s some flexibility here.  He’s the kind of man who can go from screaming at the tv during a football game with the guys or welding a new bumper for his truck to reciting Robert Burns and getting emotional over Steel Magnolias.  He can build an addition onto his house while demonstrating exactly how to balance colors, lighting, and décor to make that space both functional and beautiful.

A ship I have with said character: Hmm, canonically speaking I don’t know that I have an answer to this, though I could see him maybe having a little romp with June if they had met in passing.  If I’m allowed to bring another OC into this, I’d definitely have to go with Rinna obviously.  

A BROTP I have with said character: Y’all know what I’m gonna say. 😉 Whether you like Ozai or hate him, Lu Da is very well the only real friend he’s ever known.  The unexpected rapport they struck from the start of their business arrangement* blossomed into a bromance for the ages, much as Ozai contests that friendship is just an illusion.  And in his own way, the point at which we meet Lu Da in Storms (having shifted from villain to more antihero on his journey of wanting to atone for some of his past), he becomes something of an inadvertent foil to Ozai.

A NOTP I have with said character: Again, forgive the mention of another OC, but I’d have to say his old chum Bao Zirrik, aka Bao the Bloody.  I wouldn’t ship my abusive ex with this fuckweasel.  (Okay, maybe that’s a lie... 😏)  If I were to pick a canon character though, aside from the obvious (Ursa - that's like article 1a in the bro code, you just don't do that) I’d say maybe Zhao.  I think Lu Da would find his big jock energy utterly ridiculous and wouldn’t be able to take the buffoon seriously.  He'd create a Tinder account just to make mocking swoon comments on all the pics strategically angled to show off his burly chest hair and that one selfie he took with the fish.  I can see some quality trolling potential in their exchanges, which could be fun to write.

A random headcanon: Born in the Earth Kingdom to a broken family, Lu Da largely raised himself and dabbled in a lot of things before becoming a pirate.  He trained as a bard, became a local legend as a knife duelist, joined and rose through the ranks of a thieves guild, flirted with spirituality, and freelanced as an assassin, all before the age of 19.  One job didn't end so well and Lu Da fled the area to escape arrest, eventually winding up in piracy.

General Opinion over said character: He’s my baby and I can’t help but love him, so forgive me while I gush about him for another moment.  Lu Da may be a heavily inked, mohawked, crossbow wielding beefcake (with a crippling fear of heights), but he has an easy way about him, an alluring combination of blunt truths and disarming openness (with a dash of charm and sass) that makes him easy to get to know.  His warmth and sincerity make him a master of drawing people out of their shells (i.e. Ozai).  But while chill and open, he is not one to form friendships of circumstance and does not use the word lightly, something Ozai can’t help but acknowledge.

A man of actions and not just words, he’ll talk about what is, then what could or should be, and then actually do it and will fight tirelessly for something he believes in.  His passion for action and getting his hands dirty is what landed him in Ozai’s sights in the first place.  Lu Da isn’t known for holding back and doesn’t mind stepping out of his comfort zone when no one else is willing, unafraid to rock the boat if he must.  

But don’t get me wrong, he’s not without his faults.  That same passion would probably be capable of carrying him past his breaking point if unchecked, and if his zeal gets out of hand, he could find himself exhausted and overwhelmed.  Also, being accustomed to a life of constant excitement, when things slow down for too long I imagine he gets bored easily and starts looking for ways to create it himself which lends to some reckless shenanigans.

I could go on, but you’ve probably stopped reading by now. 😉 Suffice to say, he might be my favorite character to write so far and I’ve had way too much fun with him.

*A bit of Ozai and Lu Da's backstory for context/anyone interested/still reading: Lu Da had a notorious, far-reaching reputation as a pirate for doing just about anything for the right amount of coin, and doing it well, earning him the nickname Dirty Hands.  As Fire Lord, Ozai hired him under the pretense of a “privateer” in the royal navy to do some of Ozai’s dirty work quietly behind the scenes.  Those dark, unsavory jobs he wanted kept on the down-low and not for the faint of heart.  Over the years, I imagine there were many private discussions/meetings, and they got to know each other well.  Ozai came to appreciate the man’s blunt straight talk and easy sincerity.  But despite having done “a lot of bad things,” Lu Da is a decent guy at heart.  There are sins in his past that haunt him and as he's gotten older, being a man of action, he feels a pull to better himself in atonement, an interesting juxtaposition next to Ozai’s character.

favorite thing about them

the first time i read up on declan’s lore i was really tickled by the idea of him as just a mostly normal guy who is trying his best but always gets it wrong somehow or who always manages to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. i love declan as a civil servant who doesn’t really have a life outside of firefighting and blaseball and just sits around playing minecraft or wandering in and out of other peoples’ dumpster fire situations. declan is definitely the most grounded character in the tillmikelan trio for me because he’s just. a guy i have probably seen at the mall. i think he’s neat.

a veronica mars leverage au, i guess, because what else should i be doing with my life?

So I was thinking about the mechanics of a veronica mars leverage au—as in, veronica mars characters in a leverage like set-up, because the leverage setup is the golden standard™ of like, the known universe.

you have veronica mars, mastermind; the rest of the crew being made up of wallace, mac, logan, and weevil.  and mac is obviously the hacker.

but I also think that, in this au, the roles won’t be so clear cut.  the problem is that in veronica mars, all of these characters (except mac, who is an archetype) display different skills from each of the five defined roles in the leverage universe: hitter, hacker, grifter, thief, mastermind. 

veronica is a mastermind, sure, but she also makes killer fake IDs and breaks into systems like hardison does and is a hell of a grifter.

weevil can throw down, and lift things like a thief, and even pull one over on someone in a grifter-like fashion. and as head of the PCHers he has some definitive mastermind tendencies; he knows how to plan a fight, and a con.

wallace is more of a solid dude than a member of the criminal element, but when veronica needs him, he’s played roles like a grifter and pulled off lifts like a thief.

logan has a talent for violence, but also can lie like he breathes and put on shows to convince the best of them.

really i guess they all just have a little grifter in them.

if I had to had to had to give them all definitive leverage archetypes, though, it would be veronica: mastermind, logan: hitter, Weevil: thief, wallace: grifter, and of course, mac: hacker.

veronica is the mastermind because she knows all of them best, knows what they can do; because she’s capable of putting all the moving pieces together into one perfect plan; but also because she’s a control freak with maaaajior trust issues.  there’s no way she could ever let anyone else be in charge.

logan is the hitter because he’s just got that underlying current of violence about him at all times, but also because my absolute favortie scenes of his are when he’s being protective of veronica.  not that end of season three bullshit, mind you, but like the scene in season one when he rescues her from the federal agent, or the scene in season two when he bluffs his way into and out of the irish mob’s territory with an unloaded gun to save veronica.  make him the hitter and we get breathtaking violence from him, sure.  but we also get to see logan at his best: giving a damn about the well-being of others. 

weevil is the thief because this guy is smooth.  he pulled the heist at the carnival brilliantly in s2; and he stole that pen from the Kane household in s1 successfully even though the police arrested him and catalogued everything on his person, including the pen. it’s a bit of a square peg in a round hole, but I feel like he;d have comfortable knowledge of security systems and guard rotations and police jurisdictions.

wallace is the grifter because i’ve noticed that a lot of the times he asks veronica for advice on how to do stuff, its grift-related.  “how do I seduce the fake head cheerleader?” for example.  and he pulls some short term grifts for her, like when he infiltrates the silicon mafia at SD State.  also he’s got the best innate knowledge of who people are and what they’re like.  yeah, veronica can pull people apart, but Wallace is just good with them in a way she isn’t.  and also he’s got the most emotional maturity out of any of these basket cases.

mac is the hacker because she’s god’s gift to computers, duh.

what I really want, though; what any good leverage AU is an excuse to do, is to make a found family out of these losers.  imagine if these five people all...trusted and loved each other, in addition to liking one another??  i’m drooling just thinking about it.

I also think that, ironically enough, being righteous criminals in constant close contact would work wonders for veronica and logan’s relationship, lbr.  if veronica is mastermind-ing their cons, she doesn’t have to wonder what logan—or any of her other friends, for that matter—are doing, and go a little crazy to find out.  it’s an outlet for her control-freak-trust-issues.

aaaand if logan is their hitter/muscle, it’s literally his job to protect everyone, including veronica.  violently, if necessary. 

plus, they can both work out their paranoia on things that aren’t each other—cause it’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you.

the best episodes always involved Veronica pulling her friends into cons with her; VM the show is already only a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from leverage, anyway!  solving mysteries, sure, but also getting revenge, retrieving items, getting even...providing leverage.

like, seriously.

Veronica and Wallace effortlessly pulling a grift out of their asses when they’re caught in a sticky situation, using that emotional drift comparability in their brOTP.

Mac, getting the respect and cash she deserves for finding information and recovering hard drives and also, giving her righteous side some room to move.

Logan and Weevil sniping at each other, maybe having not-so-faux fights as distractions or part of a con— but having each other’s backs.  playing partners in macho stoicism even though we all know they’re softies sometimes.

Wallace and Mac, standing to the side as exasperated captains of the maturity and stability team while Logan and Veronica share a dumpster fire.

Veronica and Weevil doing that thing, you know, where they’re kind of flirting and kind of pulling one over on their audience and pulling each other out of messes.

Wallace, prince among men, getting to play the handsome and charming credit to his gender he is.  imagine, if you will, him pulling honey-trap cons on marks like sophie deveraux did.  i am and it’s delightful.

the worst part about canon!VM is how much they all (veronica.  largely veronica) tore one another down; betrayed people; didn’t trust them; hurt them; expected the worst and got it in self-fulfilling bullshit.  imagine if all of that went away and then write it for me pleeeaaaseee

i’ve been brainstorming and like, there’s two paths you could go.  one is a complete graft to the leverage fusion, in which they never actually went to high school together but instead are professional criminals who all grew into their own on their own and came together.  in this path, we’d come in on our anti-heroes already in the thick of it—or at least, having deep histories together that allow them to trust one another right away.

the other is like, veronica falls to the “dark side” in high school and drags them all with her, handing out black hats as she goes. perhaps in a world where Aaron Echolls gets acquitted and Duncan Kane does not have an assassin at the ready to avenge his sister outside the law, where Veronica literally can’t sleep at the thought of him out there.  a world where Logan and Weevil have that same insomnia, and Mac and Wallace care about Veronica enough to help. 

and maybe it starts out as just a way to get new evidence so a judge can declare a retrial and get Aaron convicted; but ohhh, Aaron Echolls is not a man who can leave well enough alone.  He’s a rich, powerful, attention seeking mother fucker who likes to taunt logan and veronica about what he did to lily.  so even though it’s not Duncan paying for him to get assassinated, the end result is the same: Aaron dead as a doornail, like he deserves.

Maybe it’s a fake suicide, like Veronica planned out for her criminology course, the literal perfect crime.  Maybe he gets murdered and dumped on Lamb’s doorstep with an audio recording of him confessing—edited by Mac, of course, to make sure Veronica and Logan’s parts in the charade weren’t included.

also i’d like to think that, in this world where they wear black hats to better play white knights, Veronica and Logan have just...the best-worst reputation.  Yeah, they melt around each other, but ho-ly shit they’re still lethal—especially if you put one in danger.   Maybe Logan’s got a reputation as an attack dog, and maybe Veronica’s got a reputation as holding his leash, and maybe they’ve proven they’re willing to do anything to keep each other safe.  Maybe, they made a deal, a long time ago when they started out: Veronica gets to get into anything she wants, whatever crusade is currently pushing her buttons, as long as she brings Logan along to protect her. 

their story is epic, after all.

anyway! In Conclusion, tl;dr, someone please stop me from having veronica mars feelings, and if leverage could please stop being the best found family ever, that would probably help.

Oh my, this should be interesting. 

Also! This is only CHARACTER!Thomas, not Thomas Sanders himself so please do not think that any of this applies to the man himself!

favorite thing about them:

For C!Thomas, I think it’d have to be how absolutely relatable he is, in terms of both his ups and downs and his reactions to a lot of the situations he’s put in. That and I’m also a piece of dirt who has no control of their life and feels like a raging dumpster fire so- 

least favorite thing about them:

This one’s going to be fun, but I’m gonna say it; he puts too much pressure on certain sides compared to others and its annoyingly inconsistant to see how it affects them. And the way he kind of seems to brush off the sides’ feelings or problems can feel so upsetting.

C!Thomas and Logan being friends is really cute, I’ve seen it in a few fics and its always so wholesome.

I really don’t like shipping real people, and character!Thomas is really tiptoing that line a little too close to that. But if I had to pick, C!thomas and Remy is really funny to me as a crack ship.

nOTP:

Again, I don’t ship character!Thomas in general so like, technically I just have a bunch of nOTPs.

random headcanon:

Personally my favourite headcanon for Character!Thomas is that he’s a maladaptive dreamer. Because SAME.

unpopular opinion:

C!Thomas needs to stop contributing to Roman’s self esteem issues. Like he puts SO much pressure on him compared to say Virgil or Patton, and Logan especially gets away with a LOT he shouldn’t. For example, Thomas does reprimand Logan at times or will be like “hey what you did isnt cool” and Logan will just be like “Um, but I’m the smart one so shut up” and Thomas just barely acknowledges it [a good example of this being Am I On The Right Path?] whereas Roman will apologise the second he’s called on his bad behaviour but C!Thomas will be unnecessarily harsh in how he handles it. 

It feels like because Roman is supposed to be C!Thomas’ hero, C!Thomas holds him -subconsciously or not - to a higher standard than the other sides which is VERY hypocritical considering he reassured Virgil that he shouldn’t be held to higher standards than the others. And yeah, C!Thomas did give Patton a hard time over the wedding too, but when Patton also apologises, C!Thomas actually verbally tells him it’s okay and reassures him. About the only sides we’ve seen C!Thomas be pretty neutral with and treat with the proper attitudes at the best of times considering context, are Janus and Remus and thats saying something.  

Tl;Dr : character!Thomas needs to really work on how he treats his sides smh.
