Britney Spears is currently able to "Taste the Victory."

In light of her July 14 court appearance, the 39-year-old singer is optimistic about ending her conservatorship, a source close to the matter exclusively tells E! News.

For the first time since her conservatorship began 13 years ago, a judge granted her plea to hire her own private attorney in court. Mathew Rosengart, a former federal prosecutor who appears to be well-connected in Hollywood, was her choice. Mathew has been seen with Winona Ryder and Matt Damon at high-profile entertainment events in recent years.

"Britney is doing fantastic," says the source. "She truly believes she is on the verge of liberation."

The insider reveals that having her favorite lawyer has had a significant impact on the pop star's outlook: "All she wanted was a lawyer who believed in her and would fight for her."

"She just wants to get out of the conservatorship," the insider continues, "and for the first time she feels like that might truly happen." "She's in a good mood right now."

Brintey Spears and the industry

As an artist, Britney Spears is known to have a very particular relationship with the popular music industry.

She was introduced to it at a very early age, and had a strong influence on it as her career developed. In my posts, I will attempt to answer the following question : 

How did Britney Spears’s career change the industry (and how did it subsequently change her) ?

I will start my first post with a biography, as it is important to summarize the different phases that Britney Spears went through in her career to understand them better.

Before fully starting her career, Spears had already been taking dancing classes as young as age three. She took many classes in her early childhood, from singing to gymnastics. She later auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club at only eight years old. Though she was rejected, her talent was recognized and she was able to enter the Professional Performing Arts School.

Britney Spears then started a career with several roles such as in the musical Ruthless! - however, she felt dissatisfied.

Her career as we know it today truly started with the song ...Baby One More Time and its worldwide success. The singer continued to produce hits with her second album Oops!... I Did It Again.

The artist’s newfound success allowed her to make brand deals and more, as she published her new album, Britney. In this period, she was very successful and developing a more mature public image. I'm a Slave 4 U was an attempt to make her image less innocent than before.

After the end of her relationship with Justin Timberlake, her personal life was in the spotlight in the way that it hadn’t been previously. The two singers made separate songs inspired by this break-up, Timberlake’s being much more ironic while Spears was a ballad.

After this separation, the singer’s image was once again modified, now in a more confident manner in the album In the Zone. She also had a lot of control over production at this time of her life.

From 2006, her career and personal life became even further intertwined as she is constantly followed by the press. In 2007, Britney Spears published the album Blackout. She was involved in multiple scandals at the time and her mental health was a common topic of discussion in the media

After several hospitalizations and scandals, Brintey Spears was put under a conservatorship in february 2008. This is an important information when studying her career, as it means that she had no more control over production.

Despite the shift in public opinion due to her struggles and harassment from the press, she remained very popular and her sixth album Circus was a success.

She continued singing under her conservatorhip, publishing Femme Fatale, Britney Jean and Glory.

After 2019, the validity of the conservatorship started to be questioned by an increasing amount of people. This resulted in the “Free Britney” movement, which sought to terminate it. The movement was supported by fans, but also certain celebrities.

After three years, the conservatorship was indeed terminated in november of 2021. Britney Spears is still producing music and the first song she released after the end of her conservatorship was a duet with Elton John.
