There be many a use for hair in the craft, it's said that the belief in folklore was if one had their hair cut then ones hair had to be burned, they believed by throwing away hair that birds would find it and make nest, leaving a curse upon the person who the hair came from.. The curse.. Take a person's hair and allow birds to take it to build a nest, as the birds weave the nest with the hair then the person the hair came from shall be woven with pains to the head, crippling headaches, confusion, loss of mind and thoughts. For example it's written "it is dangerous to throw hair-combings away instead of burn them—because birds may weave them into their nests, and while the nest remains the person to whom the hair belonged will have a continual headache". (Lafcadio Hearn 1886). Since throwing hair away is not an option, it was customary to burn the hair after cutting it instead. A conjurer could read how the hair burned and relate it to the person’s course in life. When hair lights up and burns in a blaze of glory, it signifies a long, happy life. But if the hair fails to catch fire or burns really slow and low, it means significant illness and death are inevitable ☠️. Of course we have many others, some are as such. Place a person's hair in a bottle of vinegar and say a few words while shaking, shake each day till that person obeys you. His videos are very insightful and his take on the craft is very much like my own. As people’s interest in the Traditional aspects of witchcraft seems to grow, I thought it would be interesting to have a one on one with one of my favorite Trad practitioners. When asked “Can you tell us how one can work with the spirits of the land?” This is what he had to say: “Three words: eyes, ears and gut. Just be open and receptive. That’s the best advice I can give. Spend some time in a natural place that you wish to connect with. Giving suitable offerings and making a point of speaking out loud, from the heart and being polite! But also being very careful what you say as spirits can and do find loopholes with things. Also knowing when things feel right, because sometimes some genus loci don’t want humans around them, or it can take more than a first go for them to open up to you. His name originates with the German krampen, which means ‘claw’ and tradition has it that he is the son of the Norse god of the underworld, Hel. Krampus himself historically comes around the night of the 5th of December, which connects to feast of St. Nicholas on the same day. He visits houses all night with his saintly counterpart. While St. Nick is on hand to put treats in the shoes of good children and birch twigs in the shoes of the bad, Krampus' particular specialty is punishing naughty children. The chief of these was Carmentis, the Goddess of prophecy, who also protected women in childbirth. Also, on this day Junturna, the divinity of fountains and prophetic waters and patroness of all who work with water, was worshiped in Ancient Rome. This is also called Plough Monday, It is a traditional day for returning to work in the fields. #Repost @exploringwitchcraft • • • • • • Today I set about making some pouches for two of my stroking stones, one for healing and one for cursing. I also had a mini blackthorn rod which is going into the mini altar set. I do think I will make one for myself as a would like a full size blasting rod of blackthorn which is used for cursing, this one could alsl be used as a wand. Blackthorn is a wood that I am drawn too, you may see a few blackthorn posts. I could wander into any wood or feild blindfolded and I guarantee I will stop by a Blackthorn tree 😂. The book is The Charmers Psalter by Gemma Gary which is also going into the altar kit. It's a fantastic little book but only if you understand the use of psalms in the cunning craft. I used this for 3 nights leading into the full moon. Using psalms for witchcraft purposes is an old tradition. The practise of employing sacred books, or words and verses thereof, for divination or for magick cures, cursing is universal in many practice's. It's often used by cunning folks In the making of talismans but also depending on the need, they can spoken over items, written down and inscribed into a charm. The psalms are normally uttered under a hushed tongue, in thought but never really out loud in front of folk. The Psalms can be written on paper, added to a charm bag and specially prepared, sewin into items, hidden around the home for protection and such. I like to to perform divination with this book, I will ask my question and look to a page, run my fingers over the page with eyes closed and then when I feel right I stop or if I get a image in my mind I go by that.
