yes I can cook with tap water. no I cannot drink the tap water without intrusive thoughts about plumbing slime and lead! yes I can drink it filtered. sometimes. no I cannot make iced tea with tap water nor can I make cold brew coffee with it, but I can boil tap water for coffee just fine.
#ocd makes absolutely zero sense and yet!!!!#the brita filter has been making the water taste off and needs to be replaced#so I have no water to drink at all aside from a water bottle our partner generously gave us#he's buying us a new brita filter tomorrow after his shift and I feel guilty that he has to spend money to appease my contamination ocd.#I know it's all so irrational and stupid and contradictory. I know it is.

rooming with him.
₊˚ ᗢ kazuha x gn!reader, modern au.
⤷ what is he like as a roommate?
For someone as innocent-looking as him, it was hard to believe that he was someone who liked to smoke. A few of his friends might have differed and told you that he was most definitely that person, however, it never struck you as being true until you walked in on him smoking out on the balcony in just a t-shirt and shorts.
Being part of the student council and various clubs must be taking a toll on him. He oftentimes overworks himself to the bone and it's easy to notice that than his habit of smoking. He tends to go home late because he’s finishing his studies at school, or he’s out with his club for socials. Thursdays are the hardest for him since all his literature classes have assignments due the same day.
To make it easier on him, you go out of your way to take out the trash whenever it fills up and replace the Brita filter. It was small though some of these things are enough to stress the poor man out. Especially when it's been a long day and he just wants to get a drink of water from the fridge.
He cooks and cleans the kitchen a lot more than you do. Even if he’s busy, he makes sure to make a large portion of food so that the two of you can eat together or have something in the fridge. He’s the type to meal-prep on days when he goes to the gym. You eating some of it never bothered him as it was better to not let anything go to waste. You just have to be aware that he mostly cooks seafood and the occasional chicken. He’s terrible at cooking beef for some reason.
He likes to play his bass out in the living room. He can try to be quieter on days when you ask him to, like during midterms or finals, but he never likes to play in his stuffy room. You notice that sometimes his friends tease him in front of you about how he just wants to show off to you. He only replies to them with a small smile and glances at you.
On the rare times you see his room, it’s rather clean and tidy. There were a lot of posters of artists he liked to listen to, and the occasional music sheets, though it was never overbearing. He had a lot of books lined up on the shelf and many of them had different colored annotations. If you ask him, he would be joyous to lend you some of his favorite poets. When you do so, you notice the way his cheeks are painted with warm hues.
He just hopes that when you enter his room, you knock, otherwise you might see him working on love poetry about you.

75 Hard (Pink Champagne's Version)
updated november 25, 2024
this is my version of 75 Hard, modified for a realistic approach to self-improvement. though i was inspired by the structure of 75 Hard, this isn't a short-term challenge. i've designed this plan as a lifestyle strategy that can be continued for longer than 75 days and easily implemented into one's life, long-term, as opposed to a crash diet or a challenge intended to be started and stopped over and over again.
i will not lie and say i don't care about physical appearance, but the focus of this strategy is to feel better and improve overall health. my plan explicitly outlines which foods to gravitate towards and which to cut back on. it's important to remember that there are no bad foods; this is just what works for me to help me feel my best.
i love the basic concept and structure of 75 Hard, however, progress pictures are generally most helpful for those who are trying to improve their physical appearance. since this is a long-term lifestyle plan focused on health over appearance, i decided to replace this section with one on consistency in general, focusing on routines and habits.
personally, i am easing into this strategy. this is a blueprint, these are guidelines. give yourself grace and celebrate your wins. ☺
with healthy habits comes a healthy body and mind. take care of yourself and you will reap the benefits, mentally and physically.
1. DIET
alcohol:
weekends only
never alone
water between drinks
no shots/shooters/bombs etc.
5 drink limit
be mindful of who you're with; do they encourage good habits/behavior?
cut back on the following significantly:
sugar
dairy
carbs
red meat
processed foods
caffeine
exceptions: feta, parmesan, greek yogurt, kefir, mayo, bacon, honey, matcha, celcius
notable changes:
begin taking marine collagen and chlorophyll for skin and hygiene
increase fruits and veggies: romaine lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers are my focus right now.
increase protein intake: chickpeas, peanut butter, eggs, black beans.
honorable mentions: oats, blueberries, avocado, sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, spinach, kale, white meat, kombucha
2. WATER
100 oz a day. i'm purchasing a brita faucet filter and a new water bottle to encourage this goal.
3. WORKOUT ROUTINE
mondays, wednesdays, fridays:
30 donkey kicks, each side
30 fire hydrants, each side
3x
tuesdays & thursdays:
30 second plank
30 second side plank, each side
30 crunches
3x
notes:
sometimes i do my ab workout on saturday or sunday as well to get a third one in.
i plan on working cardio and physical therapy exercises into this routine eventually.
4. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
i'm taking book and podcast recs!
podcasts & youtube - listen to at least one ep/vid a day
up first from npr (podcast)
date yourself instead podcast – lyss boss
hail yes podcast
hailey gamba on youtube
thewizardliz on youtube
tam kaur youtube + self obsessed podcast
books - 30 minutes a day
freedom is a constant struggle - angela davis
a people's history of the united states - howard zinn
5. CONSISTENCY
follow budget
follow morning, evening, bedtime, and weekend routines
meal prep for weekday lunches: couscous salad with chickpeas, feta, sundried tomatoes and white wine vinegar + lemon juice dressing
create & post content every day ♡

nothing more emotionally devastating than lovingly pulling out the ice trays and the brita filter, gently popping out the cubes to put in your water bottle, topping it off withe rhe crisp water from a pitcher with a recently replaced filter, excited because you know how crisp and fresh that water is gonna taste today. even going to fill back up the pitcher and ice trays, swapping the trays with the frozen ones so you can get the older ones first. and then leaving the water bottle on your kitchen counter
#in like a haha funny way but also in a depressed and disabled way#my body was Mad at me this morning and so was my brain#i was struggling with my morning tasks and then i threw in a curveball because i decided i deserve crisp water throughout the day#and then i left it lmao#my post

Embracing minimalism. (I promise I didn’t smoke yet.)
I don’t do first party phone plans anymore. I was paying nearly $150 a month for phone service where the perk was Netflix without ads for $6. Yes, that’s really it. And is it really a perk if you’re paying for it? Then I was paying $22 dollars a month to “lease” a phone that I’ve already paid off. Make it make sense. In fact, my phone bill only decreased by $8 once I paid the phone off. I’m now with a company that is owned by the previous company but I’ll be paying less in a year than I paid in two months. All this tells me is they can offer lower premiums but they know hell includes a demand for smartphones so they can charge whatever.
I still have an iPhone 11 because it works and Apple hasn’t yet decided they need more money, therefore they are still pushing new firmware updates to my phone and all my apps work. If history serves truth, I expect I’ll survive one more iPhone release before they tell me and my phone to stop being below fanbase level or fuck off.
I’ve taken to wearing all black as a base color since February. Just a few carefully chosen graphics here and there. Mostly anime or quotes. I’ve never cared for big ass logos anyway. Any other color is either white or red. All my shoes are black and I literally have one pair for every possible occasion. Casual, dress, running (love my Hokas), and running to the mailbox/walking the dog 2k24s.
Our car gave up the ghost months ago. We had money saved to get another one but after weeks of riding our bikes and walking everywhere, we decided it just wasn’t worth the extra expense. After doing the math, even if we spent money on the occasional rideshare, we’d still be spending less than owning a car. I think of this as both a privilege and an embracing. We live in a college town that happens to be bike friendly-ish depending on where you live. If I have to be on-site for work, that’s a quick 5+ mile bike ride that can take me about 40mins on my manual or 30 on my electric. Also, the local buses are free.
We’d rather spend hellcoins on experiences. Camping. Stargazing. Art galleries. Drag shows. Tee Ayech Sea. Travel. Books. Loving on our hobbies. I’ve decided if I get a vehicle, it will be a traveling van we can stay in on trips if we want to. Sometimes “date night” is us sitting on the sectional reading with a nature montage on the TV.
Sound machines and Echos have every room sounding like a rainforest. Incenseseses ERRWHERE.
We cook a lot and plan meals. We even plan the unplanned “hormonal shift” meals.
We’ve been here over a year and we’ve only bought trash bags twice. This is without recycle available. If we can reuse something, we’re going to.
I have two water bottles. One is a Brita with replaceable filters and the other is a thermos for biking and/or running excursions.
And as Kondo as this sounds, I don’t keep a lot of apps on my phone. If I haven’t used it and it doesn’t spark joy, it’s removed.
I don’t know if it’s age, disdain, starting over multiples times or what but the attachment to what this place says we need just ain’t there for me and I ain’t mad at it.

my blood results show medically significant dehydration AGAIN and i'm realizing how out of control my not-drinking issues have gotten. i'm having just enough water to function, basically. i'm a little bit thirsty most of the time and i just. won't. drink. i am thirsty right now there is a cup of water within reach and i am NOT DRINKING IT and i don't know whyyyy. the very act of drinking has become unpleasant and something to avoid. and like, i can't just drink other things. i loathe juice and energy drinks, i choke on carbonation, i can't have dairy and i don't like drinking oat/nut milks straight. i only like heavily diluted lemonade. and now water tastes bad and drinking in general just FEELS bad, the thought of it makes me feel ill. i can only tolerate drinking at meals basically and i can't just eat all day in order to drink! i know one factor was that they did mandatory apartment renovations and replaced my fridge with a worse one that has no dispenser or filter for ice/water, so it's a hassle to get ice and the water is unfiltered and tastes lousy. but i got a brita pitcher and....it's hard to lift and doesn't help. the problem predates the fridge though it just accelerated it. (also it's a fridge you have to bend down to get into and with fibro and vertigo it's just hell to use but that's a rant for another day)
i'm not a picky eater, beyond not being able to have dairy i eat most things, i'm a picky drinker.....i worked really hard to not be a picky eater but i never. worked on drinks. bc i thought water was enough. but now water is Bad
the kicker is that kidney stones run in my family and my dad has severe ones and i absolutely cannot let this continue or i am risking severe health problems and i'm STILL NOT DOING IT and i don't know why. it's horrible. i feel like a child lmao
anyway all of this to say that i think getting a really good water bottle that meets all my incredibly demanding specifics would be helpful. but the specifics are insane. straw style, no "bad" textures (there are many bad textures), dishwasher safe, not too big or too small, not heavy (i can't lift shit bc fibro), ideally "cute" to help motivate me to use it, leakproof, easy and fast to assemble......i'm in shopping hell rn trying to find something. why are all the straws SILICONE. i am not putting squishy in my mouth! gross!!!!
basically my sensory issues may be slightly out of control. i genuinely don't know what they are, if it's an ocd thing or i have something else undiagnosed, but they've pretty much gone ignored. i've had them my whole life but the last few years have gotten crazy. had to revamp my wardrobe, cut off my hair, the whole nine yards just to function. i only wear a mask in crowded or otherwise super-important situations because i can't tolerate it anymore when it used to be unpleasant but fine....i had to throw out all my pants.....i need noise canceling headphones all the time but they also hurt my ears and i can't tolerate earplugs at all........it SUCKS. sucks. i'm 26. this was not a problem when i was 6. i feel like i'm just going backwards and i'm sad about it.

Item #21
This is the Hydros, 40oz Water Filter Slim Pitcher.
I bought this when I moved over a year ago, and my new place had a tiny fridge. It cost me $23.99 over a year ago on Amazon, and surprisingly, it's still priced at $23.99 today. Since then, I've relocated and now have a larger fridge. Although I had always intended to upgrade to a bigger pitcher, I found that the Hydros pitcher was still working perfectly fine, and it felt wasteful to buy a new one unnecessarily. However, about a month ago, disaster struck when I accidentally knocked it off the counter, causing it to crack upon hitting the floor. It's a shame because I genuinely loved using the Hydros pitcher. I would definitely recommend it to others, especially considering that its filters are more affordable compared to popular brands like Brita. Had I seen it in stores, I might have bought it again to replace the broken one.
Verdict: I don't regret purchasing the Hydros pitcher since I needed a functional pitcher at the time. However, I do wish I had been less clumsy. Speaking of which, during a recent shopping trip, I noticed that Brita pitchers were on sale, so I decided to buy one. Unfortunately, I don't currently have a means of recycling it, so it will end up in the trash.
Just a note, getting rid of some things feels good, but this one doesn't. It no longer serves a function, but I guess I'm just mad about breaking it.

Small filters like brita pitchers and others are around $20-30! Plastic water bottles are very inflated in price, even when bought in huge pallets, and these filters are really good investments to help you save money. I’ve been using the same one and a pack of filter replacements ($12) for the past 4 years, replacing the filter regularly, and I cannot recommend it enough! I drink like 60ou of water a day which would have been 5k of those 16.9ou bottles,, which is a lot of plastic. Anon will probably not see this but @ mutuals if you are drinking out of water bottles and can afford to drop twenty bucks, you will save so much money and also trashcan space. yay
Not trying to be stupid or anything but like... what about using plastic water bottles because I don't have access to clean water?
I would LOVE to buy a water filter, but the one I need is almost $100, and I don't have that kind of money.
Your posts about pollution are very enlightening and remind me to stay grounded in reality a bit so, thanks I suppose! 😁
If zero waste is not attainable for you, which it ISN'T for many of us, minimal waste, or a goal of minimal waste, is not something to be ashamed of.
Even IF we manage to see the end of single-use plastics and fast fashion in this lifetime, we'll still need syringes, and rubber insulating gloves, and catheters, and straws, and end-caps for canes. We'll still likely need something equally shatterproof for transporting things, and while aluminum might be an option, it can't be made transparent, and some things may need to be.
If your city has no recycling plants, you can't recycle. You can find alternatives, like reusable containers, but eventually you're gonna have to put something in the trash.
Aiming for reduced waste is better than shitting on yourself for a system you didn't create, and then still doing the same things anyway.
You as an individual, unless you're a factory or multibilliondollar corporation or a billionaire with a private jet, are not at fault for the vast majority of this
#op please do not reblog this I am afraid of people#and my reblog is only tangentally related so I know ppl will get my ass lol#waste reduction#environment!#also go check out OP’s posts on this they’re really good#rb#I love my filter so much it makes little water noises as the water trickles through#one of my college neighbors did not know filters like this existed and then ran out of water bottles when it was too damn hot to make the 10#minute trek to the grocer’s and our building had lead pipes I think. Very scary.
