nothing like going into watching I Saw The TV Glow completely blind as a buffy fan. as soon as they started the pink opaque i was like aww haha this reminds me of btvs! then. my ears perked up when someone was named tara. and then the tv font being the same as buffy’s has me raising my eyebrows. and then amber benson herself showed up for about 3 seconds and i did about 18 backflips in record time. and it made me want to be a better transgender. huge film

Taps mic. Gidgette should’ve broken up. Their relationship in the Aftermaths was clearly not healthy and not in a way that was enjoyable to watch. It clearly made everyone including them uncomfortable. I think it would’ve been good for Geoff and Bridgette to separately gain self awareness and grow as people. They both need to date around. They reek of high school sweethearts destined to go through a nasty divorce in a few years after enduring a miserable joint living situation where neither of them communicate effectively because both are afraid of change but also not afraid enough of confrontation to avoid passive aggressive conflict. I am so serious I think being bisexual in college would fix so many of their problems.
#alex’s td rambles#Cartoon Network was right about high school relationships not lasting forever#because gidgette would either break up or start the worst polycule this side of San Francisco#and then break up after that#DIVORCE THEM. watching the Geoff fame arc and Bridgette cheating arc was painful#Do you SEE. my VISION.

I Saw The TV Glow hit so hard for me
SPOILERS AHEAD
I went to go see it last night at my local AMC and nearly cried within the first 10 minutes. I'm a queer teenage girl who has struggled with depression and feeling just so far away from everyone else my age. This movie captures the growing up experience of someone born from the late 90s to the mid 2000s so well. I was born in 06 and even though this film is clearly set in the 90s for a majority of it, it still felt so personal. I couldn't even think as I was walking out of the theater. I just felt so heard and seen.
The first scene nearly made me cry because it brought up so much nostalgia of being in 5th to 7th grade and the huge mat/parachute thing was something we did all the time when I was in elementary and middle school. The hiding from your friends' parents, drawing with glitter gel pen on your skin, having awkward conversations with people you barely know, it all feels so reminiscent of my childhood. The scribbles of sidewalk chalk, daydreaming about escaping into your favorite stories, the books you'd read about your favorite obscure shows, the shows not being as magical as you remember once you grew up. The walking through the halls, memories flooding through your mind, ideas and whimsies just soaring through, doodling on your hands with neon pen.
This movie made me so emotional as someone who has struggled with their sexuality and not knowing what to feel.
"Do you like girls?"
"I don't know."
"Boys?"
"I think that I like TV shows."
That scene hit hard for me in a different way than was probably intended. When I was 12 and figuring out who I liked, I was so uninterested and uncomfortable with the idea of liking anyone.
There were so many scenes like that where I just knew that my personal connection to it wasn't what was intended but it still felt valid.
The scene towards the end with Owen screaming out of nowhere at the birthday party "I'M DYING RIGHT NOW!!!" but no one responds and he's still apologizing for it. That part reminded me so much of being in such a deep state of suffering that you just want to scream it out loud but no one hears.
But you still feel like it's on you.
I can't imagine how hard this must've hit for someone who is trans. I'm not trans myself but this still hit for me as a story about personal identity. Who are you and who do you want to be? What is real and what isn't? Does that matter?
I have seen Justice Smith before and he's really got a great career ahead of him. I know him from playing the video game The Quarry. It was a fantastic and terrifying game. He gives such a good and deep performance here. Owen is such a complex character and that's a testament to this performance.
I knew Bridgette Lundy-Paine from watching the show Atypical a few years ago. They were always my favorite part of that show. They are so talented and so mesmerizing in this role. I feel like I've known so many people like Maddie in my life. She reminds me a lot of my best friend from 5th grade who had an out-of-control father and found solace in weird shows and stories.
The soundtrack is incredible and I was overjoyed and very much anticipating seeing Phoebe Bridgers in this film, even if she's only in it for a few minutes. She's one of my favorite artists and her music resonates with me so much. I love that she and every artist got to collaborate on something this special.
Listening to yeule's Anthems For a Seventeen Year Old Girl as a 17 year old girl is such a personal experience. It was perfectly used for the trailer. The lyrics just slap so much.
Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that / Now you're all gone, got your makeup on and you're not coming back / can't you come-
Sloppy Jane and Phoebe Bridgers' Claw Machine is also amazing and so perfect.
I think I was born bored / I think was born blue / I think I was born wanting more / I think I was born already missing you
The hair and makeup and clothing on every artist was incredible. The lighting and costumes and set design is impeccable in setting the tone for this film. The visual effects are stunning and so neon, nostalgic, childlike, etc etc. It felt like a dream in the most horrifying and yet beautiful way possible.
I also feel like this movie was made for the kids who grew up watching FNAF gameplays, reading creepypastas, going down terrifying internet rabbit holes, and reading about cryptids. Like the vibes of Local 58, DHMIS, analog horror, etc. There were so many little details that reminded me of being 8-13 years old and having these obsessions which you would escape in, not being able to process reality when you stopped watching or reading. The disappointment you feel when you come back to your body and realize that it's just a story.
I'm so grateful that this film exists. This is for the neurodivergent queer/trans kids who never felt like they belonged to anything or had a place. For the kids who dreamed about being in these fictional worlds and having adventures and friends who cared, people who listened!
This is for us.
I couldn't be more excited to see what this director has in store. I watched We're All Going To The World's Fair about a year or so ago and was completely fascinated by Schoenbrun's visual style and writing. If director Jane Schoenbrun somehow comes across this post: Thank you so much for sharing your art and talent with the world. This movie has made so many people feel heard and recognized. Congratulations on this masterpiece of a film.

I saw the TV glow is definitely in my top 4 movies. If you haven't seen it or it was unavailable in your country, please find a way to watch it (ask me for a link <3)!! The music, the pacing, the framing, the everything was perfect. My favorite book ever is The Rest of US Just Live Here and I feel as though this film was the closest I'll ever get to that type of magical realism being translated to screen. I can definitely say it's going to inspire my writing for a long while! Truly one of the few movies I've seen recently that I agree is as life-changing as posters say it is

Oh Courtney, so temperamental...but then again Duncan wasn't very nice either...
And yes, gidgette will be present for the first few chapters or so, but as we begin to focus more on the main 4 they will slowly fade into the background
Speaking of backgrounds, I'm very bad at drawing them 😔

The Glass Castle
Movies watched in 2023
The Glass Castle (2017, USA)
Director: Destin Daniel Cretton
Writers: Destin Daniel Cretton & Andrew Lanham
Mini-review:
I don't really know how to feel about this movie, to be honest. On the one hand, the whole cast does a phenomenal job, both adults and children. The film is also very handsomely made. However, I felt like it struggled when it came to choosing a tone. It wants to be a somewhat schmaltzy tale about overcoming obstacles and finding your place in the world, but it also wants to be a gritty story about a woman who went through a really harsh childhood. I'm sure these two elements can be properly mixed, but I just don't think The Glass Castle succeeds as often as it should. By the time the movie was over, I wasn't entirely sure about what the movie wanted me to think about its characters. One thing it did achieve is making me interested in the original memoir, cause it's clear this a fascinating story that got kind of lost in translation during the adaptation process. Also, if anyone wants to watch this movie, you should probably check the content warnings first. There are several triggering scenes and situations.

Previous: Chapter 1
TRIGGER WARNING ‼️ MENTIONS OF DEATH AND VIOLENCE
Velvet has made it to Bergentown where she seeks refuge within the castle. One thing they notice is that she arrives without her brother…
Still pained by the memory, Velvet slowly begins to loose it, sadness winning her over… but her brother’s m*rder was planned… and so is hers.
NOTES: I also wanted the opportunity to showcase just how cruel Vaughn can be if you mess with him… or his family.
She was being held back by the Goyle Rageons. They were strong, anything she tried didn’t work… she couldn’t break free.
“VENEER!!” She screamed at the top of her lungs. She could see the other Rageons had him pinned to the ground, one on top of him…. A knife in his hands.
Her brother let out the most painful, agonizing cry she would ever here… but even that wasn’t enough to cause her to break free. What was happening? Why couldn’t she move? Why couldn’t she muster the strength? Velvet stood there, staring in horror at what they were doing to her brother. He cried, he screamed, he begged them to stop.
“Please stop!” She cried, the tears escaping her eyes, her body shivering in hopelessness, “Please!!”
He cried, he screamed, he begged. She heard him call out one more time, “VELS!”
……….
……….
Then silence…… there was no more crying….. no more screaming….. only silence.
The Goyles finally let her go. Velvet fell to her knees, her body still trembling. She looked up towards her brother… he lay there… motionless…
“Ven….” She slowly began to crawl towards him, “Ven….” She called out again. The closer she got, the more she could see the horror they did to him. His face…. His adorable little face… bloodied and scarred…
“Oh…. My…..” Velvet couldn’t finish the words as she let out a scream. She hugged herself, “VENNIE!!!” She cried.
Velvet could hear the Rageons behind her laughing. A rage ran through her, but still nothing, nothing came to her, she only continued to stare at the horrifying scene in front of her. She reach over and took his beanie off, holding it close to her as tears continued to fall. “I’m sorry Vennie…. I’m sorry.”
“One down. One to go. Get her.” The Strobe Rageon commanded…..
….. it was that instant that she took off running…….
“What the hell!!!! Get her!!!”
Goyles were fast. It be a matter of time before they caught up. With a leap she jumped on the fencing that surrouded Under Rageous. She climbed and climbed, the barbed wire scratching at her legs.
…. The Goyles grew close…
With a push she shoved herself across the fence and landed to the ground with a hard THUD. Pain crawled up her thigh. She looked as the Goyles began climbing the fence with ease….
….. she took one last glance at her brothers body……
“I’m sorry….I….I lo-……” She was so stubborn she couldn’t say the words. She took off running into the dangerous woods of Under Rageous….
Velvet woke up with a sweat….. Her body trembling.
It was a nightmare. The same nightmare of that horrid memory every single night. Since it happened, she couldn’t get any sleep. The same memory kept replaying over and over in her head. The sound of her screaming brother echoing in her mind.
She glanced at her surroundings.
Velvet should feel safe. She should feel free. She had made it to the Bergen Castle just like Veneer had wanted them to do… before she convinced him it was a bad idea. Perhaps if she would have listened, he’d still be here, he would have occupied the empty bed on the opposite side of the room.
“Oh! There’s an extra bed for your brother. Just in case.” Bridgette had told her when she showed her the room.
….Those words stung Velvet. It shattered her heart into a million pieces. Was that possible if her heart was already broken? She had glared at Bridgette. Velvet was fuming….She was mad…She wanted to be mad…but how could she? The Bergen didn’t know anything. She was so clueless to it all…in a way it reminded her of Ven-…No, Velvet refused to say his name again. The more she buried it, the more she forgot what his name was…It would become nothing but a painless memory. Velvet let out a sigh…
“…Thanks.” Was all Velvet told Bridgette..
Velvet broke down once the Bergen left. She had cried and cried until she couldn’t anymore, until the exhaustion lulled her to sleep….She was afraid to sleep now though because every time she closed her eyes, the same memory would replay over and over in her mind. For three months she wasn’t able to sleep. Velvet was so tired, so, so tired. She curled up in her bed, staring out at the window as the moonlight shined through. Her head then turned towards the door.
Deep inside, she wanted her brother to barge in like nothing happened, like it was all some kind of sick twisted joke.
“Psych! Got you Vels! That was payback for that time you scared me and made me pee myself! Who's laughing now?” She wanted him to come in. That those sick twisted Rageons were just paid actors…but no…it was all real…he was really gone. Velvet cocked her head to the side taking a glimpse at his purple beanie laying on the night stand by her bedside….That was all she had left him; his stupid purple beanie he never took off….now it was her that never took it off.
She didn’t want to go back to sleep again… So she cried, her tears staining the blanket, her shoulders and body quivering and shaking.
Outside her door, a small Troll stood listening to everything, he listened in to the stifled cries and whimpers. Branch peeked through the partially opened door to see Velvet sitting curled up on the bed…and….crying? This surprised him. The one time he met her, whatever he had known about her, she never seemed one to cry. If anything, he’d imagine her brother doing all the crying. Branch glanced at the empty bed that lay on the opposite side of the room. He began to feel that this had something to do with Veneer. It was odd to see her arriving without him.
“Where’s Veneer?” They had asked.
“Don’t worry about it.” Was all that she had responded. Her tone made them afraid to ask any further.
…This was odd. This was all odd. Branch didn’t trust Velvet one bit…but his heart went out to how miserable she seemed. Was Veneer in trouble? Was something happening that she didn’t want to say…or couldn’t say? Velvet was not one to easily trust anyone, he knew that for sure. She had come here for a reason….and he might have figured what that reason was for.
“If any of us can talk to her, it’s going to him.” He whispered to himself. Branch ran off to find Floyd.
3 months prior, back in Under Rageous…
A tall pale Rageon stood staring off out the window. Next to him lay a map…It was crossed out, written in, utterly almost destroyed…He knew he was close, those two were hard to find. He knew they were back in the under-city, and he knew there was only a matter of time before others were on the hunt for them too…
Vaughn fiddled with the wedding ring on his finger, “We’ll have them back to us in no time Vivian.”
The doors to his office swung open as two more pale Rageons entered. Vaughn turned to them, “Well?”
“Sir…We…..We found….We found your son. But your daughter was nowhere to be seen…”
Vaughn clenched his fist…Velvet…Why wouldn’t she be with Veneer? They always stuck together, always. What would cause this?
“Bring him to me.”
“Sir…”
”I SAID BRING MY SON TO ME!” He demanded, but the Rageons didn’t move. They looked at him with sad, sober eyes. Vaughn knew that look, he knew that look all to well, “…..Where……Where is Veneer?”…..
…..There….
…..There his son lay on a metal table, a white cloth draped over him, covering his entire body….
Vaughn hesitated at the doorway, his men still behind him…
“….Where did you find him?”
“In a ditch near the outskirts. Near the broken walls that lead out of Under Rageous..”
“Did….Did you find anyone, or anything else?”
“No sir. There was no sign of your daughter anywhere.”
Good. That meant she could still be alive….
“Leave me. Now.” He commanded. With a single nod, they left him alone in the cold room. The door shut behind him loudly…A silence lingered in the air as Vaughn stood there staring at the white sheet…and the motionless body that lay underneath. Slowly…he began walking towards it…
He soon stood hovering over the covered body of his son…of his boy…not even eightteen, and his life was already over. Vaughn’s hand hovered over the white sheet…he allowed the silence to linger as his thoughts wandered…Grasping the sheet, he pulled it back…and there he was…
Veneer lay motionless on the cold steel table. His eyes closed…his face marked up and cut, gashes going down to his neck…They left him nearly unrecognizable. Vaughn clenched his fists, the blood draining them, a scowl coming across his face, his heart racing as the anger built. His lip quivered…but he refrained from crying any tears.
Ven, who would do this to you? The words echoed his mind. Where was Velvet? Did they take her? Did they kidnap her? Oh god, the horrors they would do to her alone? Is that why they killed Veneer? Was he trying to protect her? So many questions built…Questions he was determined to get an answers too.
He reached up and grasped his son's cold hand. Vaughn stared at Veneer, hoping that maybe, just maybe, he would move, he would budge, he would wake up.
“If you hadn’t run away…You would still be here .... If i hadn’t messed up as a father…this wouldn’t have happened..” He moved his hand up to stroke his son’s cold face, his cheeks which once held such warmth and life….
Vaughn…
He heard a sweet voice echo in the room…
Darling. I have him now. Let him go.
“…Vivian…”
He’s with me. I have our baby boy. It’s okay, he’s safe now.
“…But…”
…Now go find our girl…
Present day…
Blood trickled down their nose and fell to the ground in small drops as they hung by chains upside down in an abandoned warehouse. It was three Rageons held captive, two Strobes, and a Goyle. Groans of pain escaped their lips as they drifted to and from conscience…
With blurred vision, they saw the tall figure standing in front of them. Black vest and pants, his white collar shirt rolled up to his elbows revealing his tattoos. He wore black gloves as he sharpened his knife, the darkness and shadows of the warehouse covering his face…
“..P-please….L-let us go…” The strobe Rageon begged. The tall pale Rageon continued sharpening the knife as he heard them beg.
“Funny. Is that what my son told you when you murdered him?” The Rageon spoke. The Strobe stared at him, a confusion struck across his face.
“What the hell are you talking about? We ain’t killed no one's son.”
SHRINK!
He finished sharpening the knife. It glistened in the light ever so beautifully. He finally stepped out into the light where the captive Rageons finally saw his face for the first time…the ice blue eyes, the scar running along his left eye…
“….Vaughn….” A terrified expression crossed their face, a horror in their voice as it escaped the lips of one of the Rageons.
A terrifying cunning smirk crossed Vaughns face as he knelt down in front of one of the Rageons, his knife gliding playfully across the Rageons cheek, “What made you decide to kill my son?”
“…W-we…w-we didn’t know he w-was your son! W-we s-swear.”
“….BULLSHIT!” Vaughn cut the Rageons cheek.
“Please, please don’t!”
“Then answer my damn questions…WHY DID YOU KILL MY SON!”
“W-we were told to pursue a set of twin Succubi! We were paid to exterminate them! They didn’t tell us who they were, they never told us they were your kids!!” The Strobe cried out in tears.
“Who was it that told you?” Vaughn asked.
“We don’t know! We swear!”
“Where did the girl head off to?”
“We last saw her running out of Rageous. We couldn’t catch her, so we let her go!”
A scowl came across Vaughns face, a twist of disgust on his lips. Thugs, worthless thugs, he thought to himself. He looked at one of the Rageons, Vaughn pointed at him with his knife…
“How old are you boy?”
The Strobe Rageon didn’t answer at first, “….Twenty-two….”
“Don’t lie to me.”
“…..Fifteen”
Vaughn looked at the other two in disgust, “Bringing in children to your little gang. Have them do the work you cowards can’t do? Despicable.” Standing up he cut the ropes of the young Rageon loose. He stared up at Vaughn in disbelief.
“Get out…If I EVER see you again, you won't be so lucky.”
The young Rageon stumbled and fell as he ran out of the warehouse back into freedom.
“Wait! What about us! We told you everything…We told you the truth!!”
“….I believe you…” Vaughn replied.
The remaining captive Rageons sighed in relief…A cunning, wicked grin twisted on Vaughns lips as he twiddled with the knife in his hands, “But that won't save you…Allow me to inflict the pain you inflicted on my son.”
…Terrifying screams were heard coming out of the warehouse. Screams no one would hear…Screams no one would ever want to hear…Screams that would haunt anyone’s nightmares.
One thing was certain….Vaughn wasn’t the only one looking for Velvet now…

Duncan , the most EVIL character in TOTAL DRAMA HISTORY- a psychological anaylsis of the narcissistic syndrome and the downfall of 3 great characters: Courtney , Gwen and Trent (and why Courtney made a list)
I want to specify something from the start. Duncan Courtney Gwen and Trent are ALL MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITES . I just tried to make sense of this situation through a psychological point of view. Each time I analyze this it gets darker but a lot more interesting than expected. So the point is not hate them but figure them out.
I wrote this covering almost each and every aspect. courtney's sudden friendship with gwen , duncan as the one and only evil character , courtney's downfall and her list. I split this in more parts cuz it was already too long . So more parts to come .But in this one I cover their characters and their personalities
To understand better what really happened in total drama and that love triangle there is only one and ONLY ONE EXPLANATION for that . Narcissistic syndrome.
For those who don't know narcissistic syndrome refers to people who have a constant need for attention and a complete disregard of who they might be using to get that. We're not talking about someone just simply looking in the mirror we're talking about a complete painful form of abuse.
To get a better understanding of Duncan ‘s character we need to see how it all started . The first thing that Duncan did when coming to Island was flirt with whatever moved around him, torture animals and bully people. He pretty much made a point how he wants to be seen . A bully . “Being bad is cool.” He tried his luck with some girls on island :heather, lindsay , gwen , till courtney fell for it. "told you she wanted me". While for her it seemed like the best day of her life because she finally got her chance to express herself as she is without that pressure of rules and "perfect image" , for Duncan was just another usual Monday. She was so obsessed with rules ,raised to believe they are the only thing that keep her safe in society but the moment a bully showed her how to be free she accepted that immediately. She wanted to be free and Duncan offered what she wanted.
I do follow rules , that makes me a loser , right?
With his usual taste to break the rules it is quite obvious why he was fixated on Courtney and why he didn't try to flirt with other girls when she was around. He knew that at some point she would fall for him ,cuz Courtney = rules and Duncan LIKES breaking them.He saw her as a challenge and not someone he particularly liked for herself. He dislikes rules or police or law or anything that courtney mostly takes interest in: studying, school, being a good kid etc. He had a lot of girls, specifically those that "are crazy" . "I had crazier chicks and uglier or" hey I like that in a chick. "He likes to drive them crazy for him and the attention he's getting from them and Courtney gave him that each EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME.
While most of the guys have shown a particular interest for the girls they genuinely liked , like Trent for Gwen , Geoff for Bridgette , Owen for Izzy , and Tyler for Lindsay ,Duncan was the only one who tried his luck with ALL of them. Touching Lindsay's shoulder without permission, flirting with Heather the first moment he got there or flirting with Gwen later.
It is not unusual for a narcissist to use one or more victims to get their constant supply of attention and Courtney offered him plenty.
The situation changed in season 2 , especially when Courtney was not around anymore to give him that ,and Gwen's relationship with Trent was his PERFECT OPPORTUNITY to get it. He saw Gwen weak ,vulnerable during her difficult time with trent just like he saw courtney's obsession with rules as her own weakness, which made them the "perfect victims".
The sudden interest and the amount of time Duncan spent with Gwen made her confused enough about his feelings for her and Duncan knew that it would work against both her and Trent. He knew how much Trent cared about her and he used his jealousy to his advantage while turning his genuine love into a pathetic image in front of gwen. He saw this as an opportunity and not genuine interest. " Personally I would choose the money ", "I would remind you two about it when money' s divvied up" .While Trent valued her more than money and always as his first option Duncan saw her as a second option.
idk ....duncan? Not sure herself of her choice this was the very moment Duncan understood his plan worked. She made her confused for his own gain.
He instigated the doubt between them to make their relationship fall. A narcissist doesn't care who is he using for that as long as he gets to be the centre of attention and create trouble. He doesn't care about people more than himself. Just like he didn't care what Courtney might think watching this back home and seeing him doing this to people around him without remorse.
season 2 he noticed that Gwen 's relationship with trent suffers a change for the worst so he used that to his advantage. He told in his audition tape he is "resourceful" , he adapts to many situtations. His best skills are "fake tears"as he refered in his confessional . A skill that he proved to have it from a young age " oh mom was that your favourite vase? boo hooo" It is seen through his friendship with Alejandro how easy is for them to lie to women for their own convenience and even when both Courtney and Gwen were around.
those 2 are pretty much on the same page when it comes to seducing women without any regard of how they both feel. The main difference is one does it for the game and the other for "FUN"
Duncan can manipulate his goodness and his badness to his own advantage .
When he saw he's losing his game with Gwen he lured her back by saving her from the leeches trying to insist he's good while he simultaneously tried to send hints to courtney by using his relationship with Gwen and trying to make her notice him . All this while he tried to prove his bad boy image for a whole season. He doesn't want to be good, he doesn't want to be seen like this. It just happens his goodness was useful for him when he wanted to prove he's bad.
In season 2 he told gwen about the stars, and how good he treats his girlfriend because he knew this very thing would ATTRACT her when she was dealing with her hard time with Trent and offered her a safe option she can pick when her relationship with trent completely falls , just like he told courtney "oh look sweetheart how cool it is to break rules but I have a "soft side "so of course I'm not gonna hurt you." He knows Gwen is a kind girl in spite of her strong appearance just like he knew courtney is weak in spite of her forceful personality. He doesn't like to be seen as nice but it is not uncommon for narcissists to use that if it's proven to be helpful in achieving their goals. Duncan pretty much like Alejandro has to analyze the situation and act according to the victim's preference. Harold is obsessed with duty and honour? then Alejandro suggests "harakiri" , Bridgette's character turned completely dependent on Geoff ? then Alejandro makes her fall for him cuz she's weak without him. Dj has a curse problem? He creates a "gold fish" fakely making him believe he is not cursed anymroe.
Duncan operates in the same way Alejandro did.
He used Courtney's weakness and love for him against her to get Gwen and he used Gwen's trust and emotional vulnerability to get Courtney. To understand why it was easy to do this to them we need to see their characters.
For both Gwen and Courtney art is basically the only place they allow themselves to be weak
Both of them are sensitive souls who keep their feelings hidden in the hopes someone might get them one day . Gwen likes drawing , music and actual romantic stuff in spite of her dark strong goth appearance. And Courtney was the kind who never wanted other people see that she is weak , not even let them see she has a small fear or open up for a moment about her feelings ," you must be afraid of something"
"No ...nothing...."
or that her eye was hurt : " what happened to your eye girl ?" nothing! ! but it's worse.!!
" shh we don t want to let them know that. "
Her violin is the only thing she particularly feels attached to and her only safe way to actually express what she really feels. For many musicians, playing the violin is an emotional outlet and a way to express their innermost feelings. The physical closeness of the violin to the player’s body creates an intimate connection, allowing the musician to channel their emotions directly into their playing. She uses her violin to share emotions she wouldn't normally tell out loud just like Gwen creates art through her drawings revealing her deepest emotions on paper
Courtney has trouble trusting people fearing her weakness might be used against her and Duncan was the first person she completely let her guard down for. Why Duncan? She noticed he was "different". Until that" soft side episode " she did not have interest in him that much. He called her princess cuz she is spoiled not as a form of affection. that's why she hated it. She doesn't like to be reminded she has to keep up with a "perfect image" . All she wants is to be herself . Courtney mostly thought he is just a bully , just a plain bully. But the moment she saw that he has" a good side " she completely changed her mind "ohh, a bunny , wow he is nice??? " yet for him it was not something he is particularly proud of or wanted to show her. Everyone has a soft or weak or a mean side , something that Courtney and Gwen find it hard to accept .
That's for the first part. second to come.

I just finished RoR and I really like your blog, so I've just come to ask, what's your opinion on them essentially making Uliana the reason why Bridgette turn evil?
I mean, besides it being typical Descendants racism for non-white characters??? Stupid. Just stupid. Like the reasoning for why Uliana dislikes Bridget to the point of singing a song that acts like Bridget did a injustice against her and such??? Stupid. The prank Uliana had in mind against Bridget??? Again stupid. The way they handled Uliana and stopping her??? STUPID. Like, you'd think with a song with lyrics like: "then there's that desperate girl, coming for me, trying to mess with my world"-"and anyone who crosses me is gonna wish they were never born"-"We could burn her to a crisp"/"Yeah, let's burn her a crisp!"/"No, it should be worse, worse, then all of these"-"What's this? A book? That's it? I asked for a painful punishment!"-"And that's justice! Dressed up like the sweetest desert", Bridget did the worst thing possible against Uliana, but NO, its literally Bridget for some reason doesn't do what the other students do, aka avoids Uliana, and instead tries to be nice and befriends her, with the inciting incident being...Uliana was an idiot and didn't listen to Bridget about eating all the flamingo feather decoroations from the cupcakes, turning her into a flamingo creature and then falling into the school fountain when chasing Bridget and Ella. Like that's it. That's Uliana's motivation. Pretty fucking weak in comparison to D1-3 villains. Hell, her defeat is weak as well, because when Uliana and her crew and Red and Chloe all end up in the office and Merlin's defenses are dealt with by the last two, Uliana and her crew get the book...but apparently the book freezes people if they have evil nature, which it does to Uliana and her crew but not Red and Chloe. ...Yeah, ignoring that makes you question HOW Uliana and co did the prank in first timeline if the book does that, that's their defeat and they put in detention when Merlin finds them in his office still frozen.
You can say what you can about D3 but it has Audrey as a villain at least, and the fact that we went from her to Uliana is just...sad as fuck. And this is all ignoring how stupid I find it we even needed a reason for Bridget to turn evil. Why the fuck couldn't she just turn evil because some people just do. Let her become a bitch on her own. Why did it have to be another Disney blames the non-white character for a white character's actions moment. And even if she had to be turned evil by someone else's actions...why is it a stupid fucking prank. Especially when you consider what said prank leads to Queen of Hearts doing (becoming a dictator, abusing her daughter, etc). Its overall a stupid fucking plot.
But Uliana can at least walk away with the award for best song...since the rest of the sound track besides maybe Red and What's My Name reprise is shit.
