Atlanta Artistic Photographers Capture Wedding in Historic Acworth Georgia
This week’s blog is Will and Elise. They could not have been a more thoughtful couple! They were a joy to work with. It was such an honor being their Atlanta wedding photographer. They contacted me last year and told me about their wedding in historic Acworth. I was so excited when the big day finally arrived.
I drove to Acworth on Friday. It was a beautiful day with the fall colors all around. The air was crisp and not too hot. A perfect day for a fall Georgia wedding. I always tell people great weather is something you just cannot buy and as luck would have it Friday was perfect!
Acworth is in the northern portion of Cobb County. It is at the foot of the North Georgia mountains. It is often referred to as the Lake City since it is close to Lake Allatoona. Acworth is also one of those towns that has embraced the historic architecture of the city and revitalized the downtown area. There are many boutique restaurants and stores along main streets, and they have expanded the parks too. They have embraced the railroad that goes through downtown and made it a historic feature of the area.
The wedding was held at The Cowan Historic Mill. The mill is Acworth’s oldest commercial building, built by John Cowan in the late 1870’s. It began as a flour mill and later became a tapestry mill. Since that time, it has been several restaurants before recently being remodeled and reclaimed as an event venue with space for social gatherings and parties.
The Cowan Mill is able to host large weddings, receptions, catered affairs, and presentations, has space for a dance floor and movable stage, and exudes a “Classic Industrial Elegant” style with brickwork all around, exposed beams, and a grand chandelier hanging from the rafters. As soon as you walk in the chandelier is an elegant center point of the reception area. They have an amazing staff! We worked with Amanda Marcy Cowan Mill’s wedding planner/manger all day long. She could not have been more gracious and helpful!
I got there early and took some drone footage for their highlights video, you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01Y-eMHo65c
Wil arrived and he went upstairs to the groom's room so he would not see Elise when she arrived. The timing was perfect. As soon as he was tucked away Elise arrived. She went downstairs to the bridal room with her bridesmaids. One of the things that I admired about the couple is their love for their family. Will’s best man was his father. A classic southern tradition. Elise and her sisters as her bridesmaids and she brought her 90-year-old grandmother. The wedding day was truly a family celebration!
Once Elise had her dress on it was time for the first look. We brought Will down and put him facing the wall in the ceremony area. Elise came in behind him. She tapped him on the shoulder, and he turned around. He was stunned by the dress she picked out. It was so perfect I even got a little weepy.
We took a few photos with the family then took off downtown for the photos with the golf cart that Cowan Historic Mill provided and Amanda the wedding coordinator drove. It was an immense help for everyone. The bride and groom could get around quickly to the many wonderful backdrops that historic Acworth provided. We could not have found so many locations so quickly if it were not for Amanda’s help. She was zipping us around to all these locations and was so patient when we were shooting, at the same time keeping us on schedule for the wedding. Big thank you shout out to Amanda!!!
After the photos Amanda took us back to the venue and the guests were starting to arrive. We snuck the bride and groom through the side door, so they were hidden from the guests. As the guests arrived, they milled about and took in the scenery and admired the historic venue. When the ceremony time arrived, the guests took their seats. Will went up front with the minister. The bridesmaids were wearing tasteful burgundy evening gowns and escorted by the groomsmen dressed in black casual suits. Elise the bride was escorted by her mother and father. She could not have been happier. The couple wrote vows. That was well balanced with heartfelt emotions and humorous playful levity. Once the rings were exchanged, they were officially husband and wife. They walked back down the aisle through the guests as a married couple.
We took some more photos, and the guests enjoyed the cool autumn weather and cocktails with hors d'oeuvres. The guests came back in and had dinner while music played in the background. Then there were some special toasts from the sisters and family members. As they raised their glasses each time to the couple, it was a touching testament to how much these two were admired and loved. Will even played a special song for his new bride on a guitar! After all that it was time for some dancing! The guests danced under the large chandelier to some great music. Even the 90-year-old grandmother danced! She was not going to miss out! As the evening ended, the guests went outside for the exit while the couple stayed in and had a private dance. Once the dance was done, they came out to a roaring crowd of family and friends who cheered on the newly married couple and they sent them on to a perfect ending to a perfect day.
Congrats to Will and Elise. It was such an honor documenting such a special day full of love, family, and good friends. It is a great start to the wonderful future you two have in store for each other.

Old Habits
Frank Adler x reader
Chapter 4
Masterlists Chapter 3 Summary: Three years after she left Frank and Mary behind, Y/n returns to Florida for the wedding of mutual friends, what ensues may prove that like old habits, some feelings just don’t die. Chapter Summary: Y/n shares a shameful secret with Amanda, who encourages her to talk to Frank. At Jack and Amanda's rehearsal dinner, Frank and Y/n talk about what drive her to move to Atlanta without saying goodbye. Warnings- Angst, mentions of infidelity, mentions of miscarriage
“I want to see you. Please. ”
Reading the text, Y/n bit back an anxious grin and started typing a response, only for a hand on her shoulder to startle her into dropping the phone on the carpeted floor.. “Its just me, hun,” Amanda giggled, bending before she could to pick up the phone, “Who’s got you all smiley?”
“No one,” Y/n giggled, trying to snatch the phone out of Amanda’s hand, only for her to pull away and quickly read the text, “Come on,” she laughed playfully.
“Ohh, who’s Rob?” Satisfied that she’d found a name, Amanda handed the phone over, and without responding, Y/n leaned over to where she’d set her bag down on a rounded sofa in the chic bridal boutique and slipped her phone inside. “And why didn’t you bring him- or tell me you were seeing someone?” Her friend pouted dramatically as they locked arms, heading to the adjoining room, where the seamstress was getting set up for the final dress fittings.
She, Amanda and the rest of the bridal party had gathered at the boutique for a private session for final fittings, but at some point, Y/n had strayed away from the fray, at first to think a little and then to check her phone. It hadn’t hit her until they’d gotten there that morning, she’d never gotten that close to her own wedding- by the time they were within days of the date, everything had been canceled and she’d been on a plane to Georgia. “Its….new,” Y/n fibbed with a shrug.
“Liar,” Amanda teased, bumping their hips, “I know about every first date you’ve been on since freshman year, and you’ve never gone out with a ‘Rob’, tell me what’s going on.”
Y/n hummed as they entered the back room, through pale pink sheer curtains, where fittings were done. Most of the dresses were still in their garment bags hung on a metal rack against the wall, near the changing rooms. “There’s nothing to tell, its nothing,” she stressed, hoping they could drop the topic- she didn’t need, or want, to be lectured on morals or ethics.
“Okay, this is the first person you’ve dated since Frank….and the baby, it’s something,” Amanda sighed, her tone dropping to a more somber one, “Look, I don’t want to pressure you, but I know you hun, and if you feel like you need to hide this guy, then it just makes me feel like something's going on.”
Sighing heavily, she glanced down at her feet, clad in beachy sandals. “He’s….a doctor,” Amanda emitted a sound of intrigue, “A little older,” another sound of quiet intrigue, “And here’s the worst part,” Y/n cringed, “He’s married? Well, separated……but not legally.” Or permanently.
Rob and his wife had habit of taking 'breaks' every few months, but they always made up and Y/n knew it didn't justify what they were doing.
“What?” They stopped suddenly, turning to face each other, “Married? What the fuck, Y/n?” Amanda whisper-yelled, careful to not call any attention from their friends.
“I know, its bad,” Y/n cringed, the weight of shame causing her to avert her gaze, “He and his wife haven’t been on the best terms and I know that doesn’t excuse any of it, but…its just…it happened,” she shook her shoulders.
“It happened?” Amanda repeated incredulously, “A married guy? This is so not like you,” she frowned, “And you know these things never work out,” she reasoned as her expression deepened.
“I do,” Y/n sighed, “I keep telling myself that I’m gonna break it off, but I just….haven’t.”
Amanda didn’t respond immediately, pausing to think for a while before bluntly asking, “Is this because of Frank?”
“What?” Y/n scoffed, not willing to even try to put together what Amanda was saying, “This has nothing to do with Frank.”
Knitting her brows, Amanda put her hands on Y/n’s forearms, “I love you, and you know I wouldn’t purposely upset you,” she began and that was how Y/n knew that she was definitely going to be upset, “But maybe this has everything to do with Frank, I mean, figures that your first relationship after him is something that definitely isn’t permanent,” when Y/n didn’t try to interject Amanda continued, keeping her words in a low, private tone, “You were getting married, and now you’re with a man who's probably never gonna take that step with you. Do you even have any kind of feelings him? You know, the kind of feelings that don't involve sex.”
Blinking quickly, Y/n glanced towards where their friends were standing and tried to blink tears away. “No,” she sniffled softly, “I guess I just…..”
“Wanted to fill a space?” Licking her lips, Y/n nodded quickly, “Have you thought that maybe you’re not as over everything as you thought?”
Sucking in a sharp breath, Y/n swiped at her cheeks. It hurt to accept, and it stung even more to confess out loud, “I’m not.” Her voice broke and an avalanche of emotion crashed down on her. She should have known that going to the wedding would have meant salting wounds that she never worked on closing, but ignorance had been so blissful and pretending to not miss him was so much easier than trying to go back. Y/n didn’t even think she knew how to go back, especially now that Frank had a girlfriend.
“Come here,” Amanda pulled her in, arms going around her back in a warm, comforting hug. “We’ll figure this out, promise,” she breathed into Y/n’s hair, though, they weren’t words that she necessarily believed, how could they figure it out when he’d already moved on and she’d spent every interaction with him trying to prove that she had to?
Somehow, he and Bonnie had managed to patch things up, and while it was mostly thanks to Jack’s advice, Frank was not going to tell him that. They’d both apologized though, him for not telling her about Y/n and their engagement, and her for reacting the way she had. Things hadn’t gone back to the way they were before but they were good again, which was still pretty big considering their fight had only happened barely two nights ago.
Frank also hadn’t seen Y/n since then, not when he’d headed up after drinks with Jack, not all day or night on Friday and not at any time during the day on Saturday- and it wasn’t like he hadn’t been, very discreetly, looking out for her. He didn’t want much, just a chance to apologize for what had happened at the bar. Even if it wasn’t his fault, Frank still felt bad about her having to go through that. He knew for certain that she’d be at the rehearsal dinner though, and while it obviously wasn’t ideal, he was hoping to get a few minutes alone with her.
What Frank was not expecting was for Amanda and Jack’s wedding planner to inform him that he’d have to walk down the aisle with Y/n during the procession. According to the planner though, if groomsmen and bridesmaids were going down the aisle together, it made sense; the maid of honor and the best man, how else would it go?
Of course, he'd never been to a wedding where it happened like that, but it probably wasn't his business.
He really thought it was some sort of cruel irony; finally making it down the aisle with her- at someone else's wedding.
“I didn’t know they were gonna do this,” he blurted out awkwardly when Y/n finally linked her arm with his after a moment of visible hesitation.
“Oh,” she huffed nervously, shaking her head, “Its okay, neither did I.” They were lined up behind Jessica, who’d apologized profusely for what had happened on Thursday, and one of the groomsmen, and a few feet in front of the ring bearer and flower girls, followed by Amanda and her father, who’d naturally be the last to walk down the sand dusted, wooden aisle. The area wasn’t fully decorated yet, but the arch where Jack, Amanda and the officiant were supposed to stand was already there.
Frank smiled faintly, “I also wanted to apologize,” she threw him a curious look, “For….what happened the other night,” he dropped his tone, in hopes that no one else would hear him.
“That wasn’t your fault,” Y/n frowned, “And I’m not mad at you, at all. None of this was your fault,” there was something about the way she said it that made Frank think she was trying to cover something else with her words, and while he suspected what it was, he didn’t want to put her on the spot by asking.
Nodding subtly, he held her gaze, “I know.” The music was just starting and the planner had just given the cue for the first pair to head down the aisle, and quietly, Frank felt compelled to add, “It wasn’t your fault either.”
Y/n hesitated, “It is my fault, some of it,” her mournful tone coupled with the way she looked as she shifted her gaze away from his pulled at Frank’s heart, and if they were alone, he would have told her everything; that he wasn’t mad anymore, that he’d go back to the way things were in a heartbeat if she wanted that too. But she didn’t, he didn’t think she did. “I shouldn’t have left the way I did, it wasn’t fair to you or Mary. And I get it if you're mad and if that means nothing.”
“I’m not mad,” he kept his tone as low as hers, glancing at the pair before Jessica and another groomsman set off.
“You’re not?” She gasped, head snapping up again, “Do you think-” Before she could finish, the wedding planner was snapping manicured fingers in front of their faces, scolding them for not following their cue and then urging them down the aisle.
“Do I think what?” He mumbled as quietly as possible, hoping to not draw any more attention than necessary, especially as they passed Bonnie standing among the partners of the rest of the wedding party. Though she'd promised that she was okay with him and Y/n walking together, he could tell she hadn’t been pleased and was going along with it for the sake of avoiding drama. Still Frank was grateful that she was choosing to not turn it into a thing.
“Nothing,” Y/n dismissed, flicking her thumb against the edge of a plastic ribbon holding her practice bouquet together, “Let’s just get through this.”
Frustrated, and curious about what she was going to say, he discreetly asked, “Can we talk later?”
They were about to separate, Y/n was already unlinking her arm from his and she stuttered, “Uh….sure, okay,” as he walked to Jack’s side while she moved next to where Amanda would be, he turned around and found that she’d done that same, flashing him a faint, awkward smile.
After the rehearsal was through, everyone had headed back to the hotel’s restaurant where dinner was being served. Most of the wedding party and their partners had left pretty early in anticipation of a long day, but Frank had stuck around with Bonnie, hanging out with a couple old friends and hoping to catch Y/n alone for a few minutes. He was still thinking about their incomplete conversation from earlier and couldn’t shake the feeling that they might have gotten interrupted when she was about to say something important. But she’d been scarce since they’d gotten to the restaurant, and even when he did see her, she’d seemed so busy.
By the time Bonnie had asked him if he was ready to head up for the third time, Frank was running out of excuses, their group was running out of people and Y/n was still out of sight. It was starting to feel like she was avoiding him again, he was starting to wonder if she actually was. At some point, he’d also managed to convince himself that he’d misread things earlier; maybe whatever she had to say wasn’t that important and she’d just forgotten.
Had she also forgotten that she agreed that they agreed to talk after the rehearsal?
Strapped for yet another excuse to prolong their stay, Frank excused himself while rattling off a lie about wanting to ask Jack something about where they’d be getting ready. In actuality, he had completely disregarded Jack, who was off in a corner with Amanda, saying goodbye for the night, and instead headed to where he’d glimpsed Y/n talking to Allison, the planner earlier. They were still together when he spotted her again, and standing a few feet away from the pair, he waited.
Frank watched as she and Allison wrapped up their conversation, and before they parted, Allison pointed in his direction and he saw Y/n nod. “Hey,” she smiled wearily, approaching him, “I know I said we could talk earlier, I didn’t forget, its just Mandy wanted me to make sure that the hair and make-up team were confirmed for tomorrow, but then we couldn’t get any of them on the phone…..it was a whole thing,” she gestured elaborately. With a shake of her head and a smile, she relaxed her shoulders, “So, what’s up? What’d you wanna talk about?”
“I was just uh….” Taken aback upon realizing that she probably really had forgotten about what she was saying back at the rehearsal, he rubbed the back of his neck, and trailed off. He couldn’t believe it; he spent all evening wondering what she was going to say, only for her to forget, or simply change her mind. “Thinking about what you were saying earlier.”
“About me leaving?” She furrowed her brows and swallowed thickly, “I meant it when I said I was sorry-”
“Not…” Shaking his head, Frank threaded his fingers through his hair before raking them through his scuffle, disappointed that he couldn’t seem to siphon it out of her- recreate the moment that had seemed to buzz with possibility. “Actually, can we talk about that?” He just needed to know why she’d left the way she had, if he didn’t, it would probably stick with him.
Y/n nodded, leading him to a quieter part of the restaurant, near a window, “Sure of course,” fiddling with her fingers, she cast her head down and add meekly, “I guess you wanna know why I stopped returning your calls and... you know....”
"Left town without saying anything," Licking his lips, Frank nodded, “Yeah,” he sighed, “It’s just….” He huffed, feeling on one hand that it was childish to still desire a reason while knowing for sure on the other that he deserved one. Mary even more so. “Why? Why like that?”
“It wasn’t you-”
“You keep saying that,” he cut her off hastily, “It wasn’t me but you left because looking at me hurt? It wasn’t me but just when I think we’re getting back on track you start ducking my calls and skip town? If it wasn’t me then what was it? And don’t say it was you- I deserve better than that.”
He might not have been mad, but it did still hurt.
Gnawing on her lip, she nodded. “You’re right. I left because….I didn’t know how else to deal with it. I looked at you, and I saw him....or maybe, what I wanted for him," she bent her heard and took a moment before continuing. "And then after the funeral, it felt like you were moving on and I was still…..stuck. Even after I moved out, and a couple months had passed, it still didn’t feel any better than the night we found out. I still wanted our baby,” her voice cracked and Frank felt his heart pull, “It was just…..infuriating to think that you could move on so fast. But at the same time, I kind of wanted that too- I just wanted it to be over; the grief, the anger. But it couldn't be over if everything around me was a reminder of what we didn’t have, so when I got that job offer, it was a chance to try to move forward.”
“Did it help?” A stiff, simple nod was enough to sting, though, it wasn’t as bad as he imagined it would be. On the contrary, Frank was pleased to hear that she'd found some peace, even if it wasn’t with him. “And for the record, I wasn’t moving on, I was just….learning to live with how much it hurt, but I think about Nicolas everyday. Back then…..it was like….it came in waves. Every time I thought the worst of it was over, the littlest thing would happen and it would just hit me all over again,” her empty space in their bed, a stuffed toy that Mary had had since she was a baby, a father in the grocery store with his own baby. “I still wanted our baby too,” he disclosed, fighting the urge to take her hand- seek comfort in her touch.
It took a while before she responded, but when she finally did, Y/n’s gaze was still trained towards the window, looking past their transparent reflections and out towards the darkened, sprawling beach, “I didn’t know, I’m sorry.”
“You don't have to apologize,” Frank hummed- at least he knew. They were quiet for a while, though the silence was comfortable and Frank was only vaguely aware of the fact that Bonnie was still waiting for him. He wasn't ready to leave Y/n and he was still especially consumed by what she hadn't said- that pesky little half finished question from earlier. Maybe he should just get it over with and ask her. "What were you-"
"We should-" They both spoke up at the same time, stopping short when they realized they were interrupting.
“You go first,” Frank encouraged, secretly hoping she’d suddenly remembered without him asking,
“Oh, I was just gonna say that maybe we should head up. Bonnie’s probably waiting for you and we both have to be up early tomorrow.”
Just like that, Frank felt his heart plummet to his feet and the disappointment set in quickly. There was no way he could ask her about earlier that evening now, not without making things weird. “Right, right,” nodding, he managed in halfhearted grin and started turning away, “‘Night, Y/n.”
As Y/n offered her shy wave, he could have sworn her smile faltered, but tried to not read too much into it, “Goodnight, Frank.”

The Shocking Revelation Of White Magnolia | White Magnolia
The aboriginal night of protests adjoin badge atrocity that angry agitated in city Dallas, the final Friday in May that larboard windows burst and businesses looted, Xxavier Edward Carter’s allotment Start Livin’ in the New Apple debuted in the “Windows” exhibition at the Nasher Sculpture Center.

As part of my work as a psychic and medium, I have traveled extensively and stayed at some of the most interesting - and haunted - hotels in the United States. I like to stay at places that have a rich history, combined with stories about the spirits that reportedly roam throughout the properties. I have seen and heard otherworldly things that would send delicious little goose bumps up and down the spines of most people! Below is a list of some of the haunted hotels that I have enjoyed visiting and predict that you will enjoy visiting, too. New York City: The Jane Hotel - Some of the survivors of the sinking of the Titanic stayed in the building that is now the Jane Hotel in NYC's Greenwich Village. Guests report seeing ghostly apparitions and hearing the sound of sobbing . And the elevator often appears to have a mind of its own, traveling up at down between floors randomly. Guest rooms are inspired by luxury ship and train cabins and tend to be on the small side, many with shared baths. If you desire an en suite bathroom, choose to stay in one of the Captain's Cabins. Added bonus: You're in NYC! There is so much to see and do! Visit all the sites and see a Broadway show!
New York State - Catskills area: Burn Brae Mansion in Glen Spey, NY - Spectral apparitions and ghostly sounds are often heard by guests at this lovely bed and breakfast that was once the elaborate Victorian home of the widow of George Ross MacKenzie, third president of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Other unexplained occurrences include doors opening and slamming shut; the sound of children playing; the sound of animals when no animals are present; and the sound of an organ playing, although there is no organ in the house. During my visit there, I distinctly smelled cookies baking in the downstairs area, but no one was baking cookies. Added bonus: The surrounding area is beautiful! Go for a hike, horseback riding, rafting, etc. Los Angeles, California: Millennium Biltmore Hotel - The ghost of Elizabeth Short is said to haunt the Biltmore. Ms. Short was last seen alive at the Biltmore shortly before her gruesome demise in 1947 and that still unsolved case has been dubbed "The Black Dahlia Murder." Soldiers who stayed in the building during and after World War II and young children are also said to roam around the hotel. Perhaps iconic stars from bygone Hollywood days pay post mortem visits to The Biltmore? Added bonus: Hollywood, with all its star studded sites, is close by...and so are California beaches! Atlanta, Georgia: Georgian Terrace - In December of 1939, this hotel hosted the "Gone With the Wind" Gala after the movie's premiere in downtown Atlanta. Clark Gable (and wife, Carole Lombard), Vivien Leigh (and future husband, Laurence Olivier) and other stars of the movie were in attendance. Some say that a gangland-style murder and other deaths have occurred here and there are frequent reports of ghostly activity occurring within the hotel. Added bonus: The haunted Fox Theatre is across the street from the hotel...and you're close to downtown ATL. Austin, Texas Driskill Hotel - This lavish hotel, located in downtown Austin and completed in 1882, was built by Colonel Jesse Driskill, a cattleman who spent his entire fortune to build "the finest hotel south of St. Louis." He is said to haunt the hotel, along with a little girl who fell down the grand staircase while chasing her runaway ball and two brides who allegedly took their own lives in the bathtub of room 525, exactly 20 years apart. Added bonus: There are great places to eat, drink and be merry nearby. Do your part to help "Keep Austin Weird"! Denver, Colorado Brown Palace - One of the spirits that is said to haunt the Brown Palace is a young boy, dressed in Victorian era clothing, who has been seen rifling through the luggage of hotel guests. During one of my stays there, I returned to my room to discover that little intruder looking inside my backpack that was sitting on a chair! When we saw each other, we both gasped and he instantaneously vanished, leaving me startled and wide-eyed! Added bonus: The hella haunted Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado is about an hour drive from downtown Denver. The stately hotel was the inspiration for author Stephen King's best selling novel, "The Shining," which he wrote after he and his wife were guests there. The hotel has been featured on numerous paranormal TV shows. Kansas City, Missouri area Belvoir Winery and Inn - This cozy and comfortable, yet quite elegant, 9 room bed and breakfast, with its 1,500 square feet bridal suite, is located in Liberty, Missouri on the site of a huge former Odd Fellows complex. The inn was once an orphanage, so the sights and sounds of children who once called this building their home are regularly seen and heard by Belvoir guests. Numerous television shows have filmed at the inn and on the property, including Kindred Spirits, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters and American Pickers. Added bonus: Have a glass or two of Belvoir's wines or your favorite cocktail at the inn's lovely bar located on the main level. And visit George, the inn's "mascot," who just happens to be a real skeleton! New Hampshire Omni Mount Washington Hotel - Located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, this property is simply spectacular! The most prominent spirit that is said to haunt the hotel is Princess Carolyn, former owner of the hotel, whose lovely suite is now available for guests to occupy. The hotel's dining room has a permanently set up table for Princess Carolyn in case she happens to stop in for lunch or dinner. Added bonus: Sightings of the elusive Bigfoot have been reported in the area! Soak up the gorgeous scenery! Take the cog railway to the top of Mt. Washington. Go skiing on the nearby slopes during winter months. Boston, Massachusetts Omni Parker House Hotel - Rich in history and hauntings, the Parker house is the birthplace of Boston Cream Pie and Parker House Rolls! The Kennedy family, arguably America's "royal family," often visited this hotel. It is said that future president John F. Kennedy proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier at a table in the hotel's restaurant. At one time, civil rights activist Malcolm X, Vietnamese revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh and celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse were employees of the hotel. While staying there, I was confused when I encountered the spirit of John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. My encounter finally made sense when the hotel's historian told me that Booth had frequently stayed at the hotel and had even practiced firing his gun nearby. Added bonus: Granary Burying Ground (cemetery), final resting place of numerous Revolutionary War patriots, including Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and John Hancock, is nearby Tampa, Florida area The Don Cesar - Affectionately known as "The Pink Palace" and located in St. Pete Beach, not far from Tampa on Florida's west coast, this hotel, like others on my list, is said to be haunted by its original owner. Wealthy New Englander Thomas Rowe built the hotel in 1925 in remembrance of his unrequited love for a lovely Spanish opera singer. The star crossed lovers are said to haunt "The Don," as are members of the New York Yankees baseball team, including Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, due to the fact members of the team once stayed at the hotel during spring training. Other reported spectral guests include gangster Al Capone and World War II era soldiers who may have stayed (and died) there while the building was being used as a convalescent hospital for aviators and pilots. Added bonus: The hotel has a lovely Gulf of Mexico beach. San Francisco, California Queen Anne Hotel - A charming Victorian era boutique hotel located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood. Both the public areas and guests rooms are furnished in an eclectic style. The hotel was once an exclusive boarding school for young ladies, as well as a brothel that housed "ladies of the night." The headmistress of the girl's school, Miss Mary Lake, reportedly haunts the hotel, sometimes unpacking suitcases, tucking guests in at night and singing to them while they fall asleep. The most haunted room is said to be room 410, which was once Miss Mary Lake's office. Voodoo queen Mary Ellen Pleasant lived across the street from the hotel in the 1800's and it is thought that perhaps her spirit also roams the halls of the Queen Anne. Added bonus: Enjoy all that The Golden Gate City has to offer! Ride a cable car; eat some great seafood at a waterfront restaurant; visit Fisherman's Wharf and the spectacular Palace of Fine Arts, built for the 1915 World's Fair. Portland, Oregon The Benson - A world class luxury hotel that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built by Simon Benson and opening its doors in 1913, it is believed that Mr. Benson is the primary spirit who haunts the hotel. He is frequently seen on the grand staircase, in the hotel bar and dining room, and on the 7th, 9th and 12th floors of the hotel. A small and mischievous little boy, whom people assume is the ghost of one of Benson's sons, often appears and plays pranks on hotel guests. The ghost of a former porter who worked at The Benson is also sometimes seems, as well as the spectral images of a lady in white (doesn't every haunted property have a lady in white? LOL) and a lady in blue. Added bonus: Take a trip to see the nearby and spectacularly beautiful Columbia River Gorge and Multnomah Falls! New Orleans, Louisiana Bourbon Orleans Hotel - Once the location of the Sisters of the Holy Family's convent, girl's school, medical ward and orphanage, the Bourbon Orleans is reportedly haunted by the spirits of those who resided there during that earlier time. A Confederate soldier has also been seen at the hotel, as well as a lonely ghost dancer, seen dancing solo in the hotel's ballroom. The 3rd and 6th floors are said to be some of the most haunted areas. Added bonus: Laissez les bon temps rouler and enjoy all of the delicious and decadent delights that The Big Easy readily serves up! Savannah, Georgia East Bay Inn - This stately old building was built in the mid-1800's and once housed the offices of cotton merchants, as well as warehouses for cotton. In the mid-1980's, the property opened as a charming inn with 28 guest rooms. The rooms are spacious, with wooden floors, exposed brick establishing walls and high ceilings. A friendly ghost named Charley, a former worker in the building, allegedly haunts the inn. It is claimed that he is heard walking the halls late and night and sometimes will jiggle the doorknobs. Witnesses have said that lights flicker and some of their personal belongings mysteriously disappear. Room 325, known as "Charley's Room," is said to be the most haunted. Added bonus: Is there really anyplace in Savannah that isn't haunted? Visit them all! Walk along River Street. Take a ride on the riverboat. Put on your walking shoes and visit Savannah's numerous squares. And don't miss a visit to the magnificently beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery. San Antonio, Texas The Menger Hotel - The land on which the Menger sits is part of the historic site of the Battle of the Alamo. It is said that between 32 and 45 ghosts haunt the Menger. (Who came up with that number?!?) Among those ghosts are Teddy Roosevelt; Sallie White, a former chambermaid at the hotel who was shot nearby by her common law husband and died on the hotel's 2nd floor; and Richard King, a cattle baron who often stayed at the Menger and died in his suite on the 3rd floor. If you are brave enough, you can stay in the King Ranch Suite where Richard King died and sleep in the same bed where he took his last breath! Added bonus: Visit The Alamo. Walk along the River Walk. Dine in some of San Antonio's fabulous eateries. San Diego, California (Coronado Island) Hotel del Coronado - The elegant hotel, located on Coronado Island, has a resident ghost named Kate Morgan. Kate was a guest at the hotel in 1892 and killed herself with a gun a few days after an ugly break-up with her male lover. Guests at the hotel have reported seeing Kate's ghost walking in the hallways and along the hotel's lovely beach. During my visits to the hotel, I always hope to encounter the spirit of Marilyn Monroe, who shot the film, "Some Like It Hot," on the property back in 1958. Added bonus: While in the San Diego area, pay a visit to the haunted Whaley House in Old Town San Diego, where you can also shop at some of the area's charming stores. Washington, DC Hay-Adams Hotel - Washington socialite Marian Adams, known by the nickname Clover, reportedly haunts the Hay-Adams. Clover was an amateur photographer who died after ingesting some of the potassium cyanide that she used while developing her photographs. Her death was ruled a suicide, but some believed that she had been murdered. The ghost of Clover Adams haunts the hotel's 4th floor. Maids have told stories of hearing a woman sobbing, calling out their names and asking "What do you want?" in unoccupied rooms. Some guests say that visits by Clover's spirit are accompanied by the scent of almonds. Potassium cyanide, which caused Clover's death, is extracted from almonds! Added bonus: Visit the many beautiful monuments in DC, as well as The Smithsonian and nearby Arlington Cemetery.

💍 Jax + Evie
@iraclemayrps
evie x jax wedding
where they get married
The ceremony happens in a big church, but the reception/ after party is a beautiful garden venue with fairy lights and lanterns.
when they get married ( ie what time of day, what month and season etc.)
They have a nice end of spring early summer wedding, when it’s not too hot during the day in Atlanta but at night time there's a cool breeze. Most likely middle of May or end of April.
what traditions they include
Something old, something blue and something new- the day of the wedding Evie’s mom gives her a silver and sapphire hair comb to attach her veil to. It was given to her mom by her mom— who passed away years ago and she was more than happy to pass it down to her first born. It’s got the vintage look that Evie loves. Small crystals and pearls outline sapphire stones in an intricate pattern of swirls. It takes her a minute to get herself together and not ruin her make-up.
They jump the broom, and hang it on the wedding display in their house.
If it wasn’t a full on party by the time Evie is sat down in a chair for the garter toss, it definitely is after. Friends and family hoot and holler when the DJ changes the current song to Knockin’ da Boots by H-Town. Evie couldn’t keep the heat off her cheeks, laughing and egging him on as her husband sauntered over to her. The look he gave her let her know that this was nothing compared to what she was gonna get later. Still, he got down on his knees, keeping eye contact until he had to disappear under her dress. Evie threw her head back and laughed when she felt his teeth on her thigh. In Jackson fashion, he pulled the garter all the way down her leg with his teeth and passed her white Converse clad feet(cause lbr, Evie is not keeping heels on the whole time). Jax’s best friend and best man catches the garter.
The DJ plays Destiny Child’s Jumpin when it’s time for the bouquet toss. All of Evie and Jax’s girlfriends and cousins form a crowd some feet behind her. The only one of Jax’s family members and his favorite cousin who fully supported their union caught the bouquet.
what their wedding cake looks like
It’s a tall, white three tier cake with frosting flowers around the base. Decorative pearls and blue ribbons surround each tier, leading up to the top.
….who smashes cake into whose face
They do it to each other, but Evie starts it cause she play too much.
who proposed to who first
Jax was slick about it, because he knew Evie would catch onto him. It was Valentine’s Day weekend. Before their relationship was official, they celebrated periodically, and Evie usually tried to catch him off guard with it. This time, he got her. Evie came home to see candles and flowers scattered all over her living room, a trail of rose petals leading to her bedroom. On her bed is a new dress and a note, telling her to be ready eight. Evie could barely contain her excitement. She knew he would pop the question that night. Evie put on the knee length champagne colored wrap dress, her hair straightened with a middle part, and her make up minimal and natural. True to his word, Jackson was knocking at her door by eight sharp. They spent a romantic night at a nice restaurant in downtown Atlanta. Jax rented out a private section for them to have some privacy. The food and drinks were great, but throughout the whole dinner, she waited for him to ask her. Just when the night was ending, Jax slid a small velvet box over to her, a knowing look in his eyes. Evie’s smile was bright, delicate finger picking up and opening the box to finally see...diamond earrings. She tried her hardest to not let her smile falter. Tried her hardest to hide her disappointment. The earrings were lovely, and she told him such, leaning over the table to give him a kiss.
Each passing day it became harder and harder to hide that she was upset. For a long time, she hadn’t even wanted to get married, but now she wanted it a lot. A whole lot. They had talked about marriage before she was ready, and now that she was, he was dragging his feet. After a week, her attitude hadn’t improved. She barely let him touch her. If he knew that she was mad at him, he didn’t ask her about it, which made her all the more irritated. The next Saturday, Jax, Evie and their daughter Zora were spending the day at the gardens. Zozo liked looking and trying to name all the different flowers. “Mommy, look at the bracelet daddy got me,” Zozo said, holding her wrist up for her to see. “Oh that’s nice, baby,” Evie commented. Zora fished in her pocket and pulled out a velvet box. “Here’s your gift.” It wasn’t uncommon for Jax to get both of them gifts. If Evie got something big, Zora got something small, and vice versa. Sighing, Evie took the box from her daughter’s small hand prepared to see a matching bracelet. Her heart fell to her stomach when she saw a diamond ring. Her head snapped to Jax, and was down on one knee.
who walks down the aisle and who waits at the altar ( or neither )
Evie walks down the aisle, Jax waits at the altar. Zora is the flower girl.
what their wedding dresses / suits / other look like
For the first time in however many years of Jackson and Evie knowing each other, his mother and Evie put their differences aside to help her find a wedding dress. Evie went to his mom first, knowing that if anything, the woman would know where she could get a dress. That was the only thing the Evie didn’t mine splurging on. She wanted her dress to be really nice. She was marrying Jackson Murphy, the only son in his high society family. This was going to be the wedding everyone talked about for years. Her dress couldn’t be basic.
It took them a while to find something they both agreed on. Bridal boutique after bridal boutique. His mother knew a French designer sent in designs, but Evie didn’t like any of them. Just when she thought she would never find her dress, she did.It was a ball gown style, but not too fluffy. It consisted of layers of chiffon, the outer layer was lace with intricate flower patterns at the bottom and in the long train. The sweetheart neckline was adorned with sequence and crystal. It had lace sleeves with the same flowery design that was on the bottom of the dress. The back was cut out in a deep swoop. It was the beautiful, classy with a hint of sexy dress that she wanted.
what their wedding colour scheme is and what sort of decor they have
The wedding colour scheme is light blue and cream. Ribbons, pearls, candles and flower everywhere.
what flowers are in the bouquet
Evie’s bouquet had light blue hydrangeas and white roses. The bridesmaids bouquets just had roses, the groomsmen has blue hydrangeas.
what their vows are ( eg poetry, traditional, improvised etc. )
They both spent time on their vows, but it’s hard to really think off all the things you want to say to the person you love and want to spend the rest of your life with. At the end, they both went with what was in their hearts. Evie cried.
if anyone’s late to the wedding
Not at all. Anyone who knew them and witnessed the development of their relationship couldn’t wait for them to finally tie the knot. If anything, people were too early. A first for black people.
who’s in the bridal parties / groomsmen / other
Evie’s sister is her maid of honor, Jax’s cousin, and her three best friends.
what their bridal party / groomsmen / other are wearing
Evie’s bridesmaids are wearing light blue floor length dresses with off the shoulder cap sleeves. The dresses are the same color as the hydrangeas in her bouquet. The groomsmen wore black tux with blue ties and suspenders.
who gives speeches at the reception ( bonus: what do they say? recount a sweet memory or two between them? tell an embarrassing story? )
Evie’s best friend since childhood, Brianna gives a speech. She was one of the few people who was a first hand witness to their relationship. She starts off by retelling the first time Evie had told her about Jax. Some rich boy she had to tutor to keep her scholarship, even though she didn’t even wanna be in the school. She thought he was cute, but arrogant and definitely not her type. As her best friend, she could easily tell when Evie was fronting. Then his name started coming up more regularly. He went from just ‘that rich boy’ to Jackson, to Jax. Evie would casually bring him up in conversations with something he did or said to her. Then they were hanging out outside of school. Brianna thought, ‘this boy must like pain’, because anyone who knew Evie when she was younger could testify about how mean she was. There was no way Jackson wasn’t getting that same heat. The first time she met Jax and saw how he and Evie interacted, she saw that Evie was giving him heat, but he liked that shit. Anybody who could handle Evie’s attitude was worth keeping around. That night, Brianna forced Evie into admitting that she liked Jackson. So, if it weren’t for Brianna, Evie would’ve taken a lot longer to let Jax in. They both owe her a thank you, but either way they took too damn long. She ends the speech with a toast, knowing that their love was boundless and would stand strong against any test.
who catches the bouquet( s )
Jax’s cousin
what their wedding photos are like
Their photos are a mix of sweet and silly. They didn’t need the photographer to tell them to look at each other, they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. Smiles were natural and easy. They took picture with the three of them; Evie, Jax and Zozo. Evie’s bridesmaids pictures are silly, because they couldn’t get it together for shit. They got one good and formal picture, the rest are true depictions of their friendship. Evie’s favorite one of them is when she’s holding out her ring, and the girls are fawning over her hand.
what sort of food they have at the reception
Evie came up with the menu herself, and it was a good mix of southern and bougie.
who cries first during the ceremony
Evie definitely. She’s crying when her mom gives her the hair comb and during her vows.
how wild their reception gets ( who dances the best, who gets drunk first, etc. )
Their reception turns into a full blown Atlanta party by 10pm. Evie and Jax are both feeling the liquor. The DJ changes the music to club/track songs. Atlanta native and her favorite rapper, 2 Chainz is heavy on the playlist, along with classics and their throwback college joints. There’s a really good picture of Evie bent over with her hands on her knees, tongue out and twerking on Jax to Back that Azz Up.
what their rings are like
Evie’s ring is probably a 10 carat ring with a 6 carat pear shaped stone flanked by two 2 carat diamonds. Evie loves the ring, but she cooked and worked with her hands, there was no way she could walk away with that heavy ass ring on her finger with her regular ass self. But of course, Jax truly knew her, and bought her a matching chain to put the ring on.
what sort of favours they have
They give out mini champagne bottles and little booklets with recipe to the cake Evie made.
where they go for their honeymoon
That’s one of the few things Evie leaves entirely up to Jax. She’d never been outside the country, and Jax is way more cultured than she is. He would plan the perfect honeymoon. And he did. The morning after their wedding, they kissed Zozo goodbye and with her parents before getting on a private jet. Evie never liked plans, but Jax was more than willing to distract her on the twelve hour flight to Nice, France. Jackson got them a beautiful villa that had a great view of the water and town below. He spoiled her no end. Each day for a month was something different and fun. And because neither of them could be away from Zora that long, Jax had her flown in for a week. After four weeks, Evie thought for sure that they were heading home, but Jax had something else planned. She was skeptical about leaving her business alone that long, but Jackson could be really convincing when he wanted to be. They took a flight to Venice, Italy. As a chef, Italy was a wet dream for Evie. Unlike Nice, which was all pebbly shores, mountains and beaches, Venice was grand and metropolitan. She was like a kid in the candy store. Another month was spent there, and just like before, Jackson flew Zora out to spend a week with them in Venice. After two months, Evie felt bittersweet about going back home, but she missed her cycle after the first month and knew she needed to make a doctors appointment.
something memorable that happens during the party / ceremony
Poor Zozo couldn’t hang, and fell asleep with her grandma before 9pm.
who officiates the ceremony
The pastor of the church they got married in
what song their first dance is to
Made to Love Ya by Gerald Levert
who gives who away as they walk down the aisle
Evie’s father walks her down the aisle. His eyes are watery with joy and pride. He hands Evie’s hand to Jax, jokingly saying “she’s your problem now” before having a seat next to Evie’s mom.

#MasksForAll
Do you want to help support our medical professionals, those at risk, and artists/designers who may need a little extra assistance?
Thankful for friends and social media, I have compiled a list of designers/artists who are sewing masks and PPE gear to donate to their local medical professionals and are providing masks to those at risk. Regulations may vary as to what medical staff will be able to accept the masks and some masks have an additional layer of protection and some do not. Check out a designer in your area and message them for details on how to support their efforts. Comment below to add to the list.
Thank you,
With love from a non-sewer who wishes she could sew. Stay safe and healthy.

Finding Your Dream Wedding Dress in Atlanta: A 2024 Guide
Atlanta's reputation as a premier bridal shopping destination continues to grow, with bridal shops in Atlanta offering an unprecedented selection of styles for modern brides. From luxurious boutiques in Buckhead to intimate shops in the historic districts, finding the perfect wedding dress in Atlanta has never been more exciting.
The latest trends hitting Atlanta's bridal scene showcase a perfect blend of Southern sophistication and contemporary fashion. Bridal gowns in Atlanta are evolving beyond traditional styles, with local boutiques reporting a surge in demand for innovative designs. Popular choices include convertible dresses with detachable elements, allowing brides to transition seamlessly from ceremony to reception without changing gowns.
Current wedding dress trends in Atlanta reflect the city's dynamic spirit. Designers are introducing dresses with dramatic cathedral trains paired with removable shorter overlays, perfect for Atlanta's grand church ceremonies and lively receptions. Local brides are particularly drawn to gowns featuring intricate back details, from elegant button closures to daring cut-outs, adding excitement to traditional silhouettes.
Atlanta's premier bridal shops are seeing increased interest in personalized elements. Brides are choosing gowns with customizable features like interchangeable belts, detachable capes, and adjustable necklines. This trend towards versatility reflects the practical yet glamorous mindset of Atlanta brides who want multiple looks for their special day.
The color palette for wedding dresses in Atlanta has expanded beyond classic white. Soft metallics, particularly rose gold and champagne undertones, are gaining popularity. These subtle hues complement various skin tones and photograph beautifully in both indoor and outdoor Atlanta venues. Bridal shops are also noting increased requests for gowns with colored underlays that peek through intricate lace overlays.
Texture is playing a major role in current bridal fashion. Atlanta brides are gravitating towards gowns featuring 3D floral appliqués, geometric patterns, and layered fabrics. These detailed elements add depth and dimension to photographs while maintaining an elegant appearance. Many bridal gowns in Atlanta now incorporate mixed-media designs, combining traditional lace with modern beading and sequins.
The influence of Southern tradition remains strong, but with a modern twist. Atlanta's bridal boutiques are showcasing gowns that combine classic silhouettes with contemporary elements like pockets, side slits, and innovative sleeve designs. This fusion of old and new perfectly represents Atlanta's position as a city that honors its heritage while embracing modern fashion trends.
For brides searching for their perfect dress, Atlanta's diverse selection of bridal shops offers something for every style and budget. Whether you're planning a sophisticated ballroom wedding or a charming garden ceremony, Atlanta's bridal scene stands ready to help you find the gown of your dreams.
Tip: Most bridal shops in Atlanta recommend starting your dress search 8-12 months before your wedding date to ensure ample time for ordering and alterations. Many boutiques offer appointment-only shopping experiences, providing personalized attention and expert styling advice to help you find the perfect wedding dress in Atlanta for your special day.
