Get to Know Me Tag :)
I was tagged by the lovely @sheralynnramsey, thanks hon! 💖
Name: Veronica Asch
⭐ Sign: I’m an Aquarius sun, Taurus moon, and Aries rising--and I fit the three perfectly.
Gender: Female
Height: 5′4
Sexuality: Bisexual (technically pan, I use the terms interchangeably)
What Image is Your Wallpaper?
Tumblr media
This is my phone wallpaper!!  Unfortunately I don’t remember the source, it was from somewhere on Tumblr ;; My laptop background is a boring picture of the ocean and my phone lockscreen is the American flag lol, neither are interesting enough for me to bother sharing.
Where do you 👀 yourself in ten years: Ideally?  Married, in a decent house, working as a full time writer (SUPER ideal would be a bestselling author, but I’ll take medical journalist as an ideal alternative).  More realistically?  Writing part time and working a full time job as a nurse managing infection control programs.
What was your coolest Halloween costume: My mom and I made a crazy/deranged clown costume from scratch one year.  That was stressful but damn was it cool
What’s your favorite 90’s show: King of the Hill
Last 😘: December 2017
Have you ever been stood up: Yep.  Never on a “real” date, but by friends and informal time with SOs? For sure
Have you ever been to Las Vegas: HELL YEAH.  I love Vegas, and I’m not even 21.  I just love the vibes, the crowds... the Strip is fantastic, and there’s this pretty good Thai place like 10 minutes north of the Strip! (I have family 2 hours south, so I’ve been to Vegas plenty of times)
Favorite pair of shoes: Never underestimate a good pair of Nike sneakers!! I’ve had my current pair for two years, it’s been through two hard jobs (softball park and lab research, both meant long hours standing/lifting and filthy grounds) and they’re still solid, supportive, absolutely my go-to shoes.
OK Nike, when are y’all gonna sponsor me in exchange for my advertising??
Favorite fruit: Mangoes?
Favorite 📓: The Heroes & the whole First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie, or Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.
Stupidist Thing You’ve Ever Done: I don’t know, I’ve done a lot of dumb shit... I guess being asked to promise something and then actually promising it is pretty fucking stupid in terms of emotional consequence.
Favorite gif:

Tagging (feel free to ignore): @briannadeberry @relevy and anyone else who’d like to do this!

Last Sentence Tag Game
I was tagged by @iwritefiction The rules are simple: post the last sentence you wrote and tag as many people, as there are words in the sentence (if you can manage). “I guess I’ll never know.” Five words; that’s probably the shortest sentence I’ve used in these tag people per word games.

(A Different) 10 Questions Tag
I was tagged by @hklunethewriter :D
1. Tell me something you love about your current WIP(s). I love that the motives behind my two love interests not admitting their feelings to each other makes way more sense in this draft than it previously did
2. Three of your characters are coming with you on a road trip. who are they and why did you pick them? Delilah for fun, Emmaline for financial stability, and Misha because the poor guy could use a vacation
3. When you are not writing, what are you most likely to be doing? Sleeping, school work, or making a bunch of calendars/planners
4. How do you name your characters? I pretty much choose names that I like the sound of and that seem to fit the characters.
5. Do your characters have any pets? Well, Bostwick has Emmaline and Delilah had Sebastian... At present? No.
6. Do you have a favourite time of the day to write? Right now, it’s sort of random.
7. Which of your characters would win the Most Huggable Award? Sebastian and his fat fluffy tum Millicent
8. Which of your characters would win the Most Punchable Award? I mean, Alcea and Sebastian probably deserve it the most, but I’m not sure that counts as “punchable”
9. How do you decide when you’re done planning and just have to start writing? I don’t usually plan, and my writing process is an enigma even to me, so... IDK
10. Do your characters have any odd habits?
Delilah says “Hmm” and “you know?” a lot. She also purrs sometimes (like... literally purrs)
Sebastian licks his paw / bites the side of his index finger when he’s nervous
Both Bostwick and Millicent tend to fidget with their clothes or hands when they get nervous
I tag  @itsabubblegumworld, @catherinestephens, @briannadeberry, @tryingtobeawriterbutabsolutegarb, @thewriterkaie, @teacups-and-tealeaves, @pen-paper-writer, @kittensartsbooks, @writing-after-midnight, @starlitesymphony, @inkspll, @alittle-writer, @gloomsday, @thatwriternamedvolk, @glorious74, and anyone else who would like to play :)

First Three Lines Tag
Tagged by a trio of awesome writers, @toboldlywrite, @alittle-writer, and @lady-redshield-writes, thank you!! So, since I already shared the first lines of my novel-in-progress a while ago, I’m gonna grab opening lines from a few random chapters.
In the small hours of the morning, the mounting supersonic roar of a spacecraft breaking atmo thunders me awake. I slap my hands over my ears and try to ignore it, try to wiggle into my pillows and back to my dreams. An exercise in futility.
My head whirls like the last fall leaf on a tree branch. I stuff a change of clothes into a canvas tote, just enough to get me comfortably to Hale, where we’ll acquire something local for the remainder of the trip. We’ll try to blend in as much as possible, which, admittedly, may not be much, but looking stiff and official and armed usually keeps anyone from asking questions.
I dig in and hold tight. My armor twines from my hand like flickering shadows, anchoring to thorns. Ash’s twiggy hand jerks in my grasp. That must hurt. I feel a connection there, though, a current my armor pauses to make sense of.
Alrighty, I’ll call on @writebruh, @authorisada, @audreyroseb, @steampunk-city, @briannadeberry, @incandescent-creativity, @coutelier, @acfawkes Only if it tickles your fancy, no pressure!
And hey, I have quite a few newer followers, I’m not sure who’d like to be tagged for these writing tag games? If you’d like to be in the future, just toss a like or comment or whatever and I’ll be sure to include you! Hope you’re all having a great day :)

11 Question tag
Thank you for tagging @rosecorcoranwrites :) These are fun questions!
1) What is your favorite thing about writing?
It’s the best feeling when you see your internal worlds becoming something more than black words on white paper.
2) Can I have an out of context sentence from you WIP?
Finnish: Katsomatta toisiinsa Julius ja Marcus molemmat ajattelivat samaa asiaa; sitä päivää, kun nuori kaunis Clementia kuoli ja he melkein tappoivat toisensa.
Without looking at one another Julius and Marcus thought about the same thing; the day when young beautiful Clementia died and they almost killed each other.
3) Is there a favorite place where you like to write?
It depends. Sometimes I prefer my bed, but other times especially when it is raining or snowing I prefer my desk beside the window.
4) Do you share your WIPs with anyone before finishing them?
Okay, so I was extremely conscious about my writing and hadn’t even told anyone I wrote. It took me about half a year that I admitted I wrote stories to my boyfriend. And more time to even tell him what was the story about. I still haven’t told anyone else (except for you guys) but now I let him read it to have his opinion.
5) Is there a book/author that inspired to start writing? If so, which one?
Not exactly. It’s more like every book I have ever read - good or bad - have inspired me to write. I always think how could I make a story this good or how would I tell this story better. Every time I read a book I get this writing mania.
6) Can you multitask while you’re writing?
No. I can concentrate intensely but only on one thing at a time.
7) The strangest thing you ever researched for a WIP.
Not sure what is considered strange. I have researched about etymology of Russia and when was ketchup invented but still not sure are they strange things.
8) When did you start writing?
In elementary school I wrote something but what I consider my first real story is the one I started to write at the beginning of junior high, but I never finished it. I hadn’t really brainstorming or outlining process until about a few years ago.
9) Which is your favorite, prose or poetry?
I haven’t really got to know poetry well, so I must say prose.
10) Do you like to play with tropes in your writing?
I absolutely love it. I also love to read about it. It is never my main intention, but I always get exited when I can include upside down turned trope in my story.
11) A good piece of writing advice, in your opinion, is…
Just write the first draft without thinking too much about details and then you can think everything through. Hearing this changed my life. Thinking that I was writing the final text when I was writing a first draft, was the main reason I couldn’t finish any of my stories.
I will tag @necwrites, @toboldlywrite, @enasroterfaden, @briannadeberry and @stephaniewrites. You can write the same questions if you like! :)

7-7-7 Tag :)
I was tagged by the lovely @oheoo, thanks hon! <3
Rules: Go to page 7 of your WIP, share 7 sentences, then pass along to 7 people!
From Eosophobia...
A smile blossoms across her face, dark freckles leaning in conspiratorially. “You’ll be needing better company than that sniper,” Nadege insists.  “Men like him are always more than they seem, and there ain’t no telling if it’ll be good or bad for ya in the end.”
“Bad for my purse in either case,” Jackal sighs, and startles--lightning rod jerking snapping burning down his spine--at the gushing giggles that burst out of her.  He takes a long drink from the stained glass in his hands, watching as she steadies herself with a deep breath, before leaning closer.  “I can’t keep you safe.”
“I can take care of myself, kiddo.  It’s the would that oughta be afraid of me.”
I can’t count, don’t worry about it.
Tagging (feel free to ignore): @thewingwriter @joyjots @cofffeeshopp @ashtrieswriting @elliot-orion @briannadeberry @homesteadhorner and, of course, anyone else who would like to join in!

25 Questions Tag Game
I was tagged a couple weeks ago by @hklunethewriter :DDD
1. Is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason? I’m holding off on starting my Sherlock Holmes story, my murder-myster novel-in-verse, and a mini-memoir. Why am I holding off? Because school is eating my soul ;-;
2. What work of yours, if any, are you embarrassed about existing? Oh, man... I had some frightening Harry Potter fan-fic poems that will never see the light of day if I can help it.
3. What order do you write in? Front of book to back? Chronological? Favorite scenes first? Something else? Favorite scenes first, though I’m trying to at least outline a few chapters in order for a future WIP
4. Favorite character you’ve written? I love them all ;-;
5. Character you were most surprised to end up writing? Well, I’m surprised that the Empress and Augustus exist at all, so there’s that. I also have a couple villains in a very future WIP that ended up having a twincest (sort of?) vibe going on, so.... yeah..... 6. Something you would go back and change in your writing that it’s too late/complicated to change now? Hmm... I guess I would include a little more about the magic system in Miscast Spells, specifically regarding healing magic, but it’s not that big of a deal.
7. When asked, are you embarrassed or enthusiastic to tell people that you write? Enthusiastic! :D
8. Favorite genre to write Fantasy mashed up with other genres (fantasy comedy, fantasy mystery, fantasy alternate history, etc)
9. What, if anything, do you do for inspiration? Watch a lot of good shows, read a lot of good books, and reread my own work. 10. Write in silence or with background music? Alone or with others? Silence! Also, I find it really hard to write with or around other people. I’m a loner, I guess.
11. What aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing? Hmm... Probably descriptions... hopefully?
12. Your weaknesses as an author? Beginnings and endings :( 13. Your strengths as an author? Dialogue! 14. Do you make playlists for your work? No, but I’m thinking each character in one of my upcoming works will get their own time-period-specific image song 15. Why did you start writing? I’ve always made up stories, but I actually started putting them down on paper because my 9th grade English teacher required us to write 20 pages a month on whatever we wanted. 16. Are there any characters who haunt you? Currently? Lestrade (from my very future Holmes WIP). I should be contemplating the two main characters--Holmes and Watson--but no! Lestrade, the unnoticed-love-interest/comic relief is the one with a really cool backstory and intriguing disability/special ability that I spend hours and hours thinking about. Gosh darn it!
17. If you could give your fledgling author self any advice, what would it be?
SEND YOUR BOOK OUT TO REVIEWERS FIVE MONTHS IN ADVANCE!!!!!
18. Were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? What were they? Um... I guess a lot of anime? I’ve internalized it so much that I picture it when I write. I can’t say that they’ve influenced my style, but Lewis Carrol and Ray Bradbury definitely influenced my imagery and motifs, if that makes sense. 19. When it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.? I mostly just wing it, but I’m going to try outlining in the future. 20. Do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts? I don’t write T____T   Little spurts.
21. What do you think when you read over your older work? I like it :D 22. Are there subjects that make you uncomfortable to write? Kissing scenes. Never having done it, I’m like ?????????? 23. Any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing? If by “experiences” we include having read/learned about things, then heck yeah! Philosophy, theology, true crime, magical theory, the list goes on... 24. Have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story?  Not yet, but I’ve gotta study up on historical forensics pretty soon.
25. Copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of. Well, the one’s I’m proudest of are spoilerific, but here’s a little something I rather like. It concerns a magical contract (and occurs in a rainy scene); character names have been ommited:
The paper did not appear to soak in any moisture, and the ink did not run, but rather, had begun to glow. She held the contract up and instructed him to touch it. As soon as he placed his fingers on his signature, he felt a strange sting. It was not exactly painful, but was certainly unpleasant, and as it began to creep up his arm, the words on the contract moved towards his fingers, slowly disappearing as if he were siphoning them into his own body. The stinging sensation lessened, eventually disappearing altogether. The woman looked at the blank piece of paper, which hung limply in her hands as the rain soaked it, then tossed it away.
I tag @itsabubblegumworld, @catherinestephens, @briannadeberry, @tryingtobeawriterbutabsolutegarb, @thewriterkaie, @teacups-and-tealeaves, @pen-paper-writer, @kittensartsbooks, @writing-after-midnight, @starlitesymphony, @inkspll, @alittle-writer, and ANYONE ELSE WHO WANT TO PLAY (I tried to tag all the newest writing blogs who followed me, but I might have missed someone >_<). Feel no obligation to play if you don’t want.

Character Questions Tag
This looks like a fun one, thanks to @burningemberjade for tagging me! <3
If all your young adult characters were contestants on The Bachelor/Bachelorette (a group of women or men all compete for the hand of one person, being eliminated until only one person remains), which character would:
Enter, win, and live happily ever after <3. Quin, my narrator/protag, would win, hands down. She’s a warm-hearted idealist unlike most of the contestants. Enter, fall in love with a competitor on the show, have a secret relationship, finally leave the show to marry said contestant, and have a healthier, happier relationship than the winning couple. This is Ash, haha. He did pretty much exactly this in the military. Enter on a dare, take the entire thing as a big joke, and win anyways. Nadira. She could’ve had the whole show rigged. Much more interesting to let it unfold on its own. Surprise, surprise, she wins anyway. Enter believing it to be a odd job interview, break the bachelor/ette’s nose for trying to kiss them believing it to be sexual misconduct, leave the show to become a famous self defense teacher, and die happier and having done more good than all the contestants combined. Aneke. Basically her life story. Enter just for the food. This is the reason Ash signed up in the first place. The dessert tables. Go on a 2:1 date on a river and push the other contestant off the boat. Maddox. The other contestant is his own apprentice? Good thing he taught her to swim. Enter on a miscommunication, realize their mistake, have a long talk with each contestant about why they’re putting their futures in jeopardy for the entertainment of others, and have all the contestants quit as one. Maddox again. He’ll start a full-scale rebellion on the set, of course. But he’s not about to let that get in the way of him falling in love. Sleep through the rose ceremony.  Aneke. Maddox says she’s as expressive as an ice sculpture. Ceremonies are more melodrama than she’d bother staying awake for. Be sent home for sharing a bit too much information. Ash. This happens in the book, but in a horrible way. Quit because the bachelor/ette doesn’t like cats (or dogs, or ponies, or chocolate….) Kedona. She never gives a clear reason for quitting, but everyone suspects it’s one of the above. Ask to play 20 questions and ask blunt political/philosophical questions because they only have a few weeks before they’re potentially married and they’re going to take this rationally, gosh darn it. This is Quin! She tries to stay rational no matter what insanity happens, bless her.   Take the bachelor/ette hostage on air, demand a billion dollars as random, and disappear off the face of the map. Emera. She’s the contestant you forget is even on the show, the one who maybe has three fans out there? Then, out of nowhere…
Tagging @persephonc, @cofffeeshopp, @loveiseldritch, @hklunethewriter, @hannahcbrown, @kittensartsbooks, @writing-under-stars, @writing-after-midnight, @writing-on-a-star, @writeontheedge, @halfbloodlycan, @tumblinbean, @kaithe-ganymede, @procrastiwriting, @briannadeberry, @dragonscanbeplantstoo  If you’re interested! Feel free to ignore if you’ve gotten this one already or whatever. Happy Sunday :)

Word Search Tag
So I was tagged by @madeleine-bo (thank you!) in a word search tag, where the person before you gives you a word and you search your wip and post an excerpt with that word in it. The word I was given is cold, which I’m certain I’ve used plenty of times. I’m using my wip It Was Always Going to End This Way.
“Had been?” Her shrill tone cracked through the air, causing my blood to turn cold. She swung her gun around to focus her sights on me. “What did you do to my daughter, you monster?”
...Aaaannnnd there we go! I’m going to pass this tag along to @temporarysentences, @briannadeberry, @writingwinterridge, @ruejuge, and @the-knights-are-not-dead. I just went down my activity feed and picked some people, so if you don’t want to do this there’s no pressure!
If you do, your word will be sacrifice, or if you can’t find that, use bright. Tag me in your posts so I can see a snippet of what you are all working on!

Erik: Kalopsia: The delusion of things being more beautiful than they are
Three: Solivagant: A solitary wanderer
Ashton: Paroxysm: A sudden outburst of emotion
I’m tagging @lityersess @forlornraven @incandescent-creativity @briannadeberry @hklunethewriter @writebruh and @mj--writes
