Boyfriend’s Day, you know what that means
To Ash, Hal, Breon, Destin, Han, Dancer, Evan, Amon, Shadow, Finn (except not really cuz you did try to kill Julianna, but it wasn’t really you I guess) and Celestine’s current favorite Tarek, I appreciate every single one of you, and so do your significant others. You are all great boyfriends, and deserve the world.
Thank you for making our lives both easier and more hectic.
Sincerely, Jenna, Lyss, Sasha, Evan, Raisa, Cat, Destin, Annamaya, Aspen, Julianna, and me. Celestine doesn’t appreciate you enough, Tarek. So I will.
HAPPY BOYFRIEND’S DAY
(I reached the limit when I was tagging lmao why do people have so many different names in these books)

Something i find funny is how all the characters are like “if breon doesnt have any leaf then he wont smoke and he’ll be clean :)))” and then as soon as you give him leaf its like “nOO WHO GAVE HIM LEAF DONT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT IF YOU GIVE HIM LEAF HE’LL IMMEDIATELY START SMOKING IT”
LIKE DOES ANYONE REMEMBER WHEN BREON WAS FREE OF LEAF AND HE WAS HAPPY AND STUFF AND THEN HE AND LYSS GOT CAPTURED AND CELESTINE GAVE HIM LEAF AND HE JUST SMOKED IT WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED
WAS HE FORCED OR DID HE JUST GO “OOH HEY LEAF :DD IMMA SMOKE IT”

The “Families” I Guess
Basically a collection of all the “families” after the war in Shattered Realms
The Strangwards
Consisting of Evan, Destin, and their tiny “bark bigger than the body” dog Breaker. Probably adopted a kid later on, possibly a girl. Destin took on Evan’s last name as a further “fuck you” to his father after they got married. He’d taken his mother’s last name before the wedding, becoming Destin Chambord, and later Destin Strangward. Breaker is practically indestructible at this point, and probably has an extended life span than he normally would. Evan and Destin run Tarvos together and control almost the entire Desert Coast. They occasionally come to the wetlands either when business calls for it, they have plans with the others, or simply because they feel like it.
The Alister-Bandelows
(You cannot tell me that Ash didn’t take on Han’s last name at some point)
Jenna and Adrian split their time mostly between Delphi, Fellsmarch, and their dragon sanctuary in the Heartfang Mountains. Occasionally they visit Tarvos and Ardenscourt. They help dragons get acquainted with the wetlands and to willingly form bonds with orphans and children, as well as teenagers and adults. They slow their relationship pace so that it’s a bit more healthy and steady, taking things on one at a time together. Ash and Jenna give council to Lyss and Hal when they get stuck, and are always welcomed. They may have kids of their own, if they choose.
The Royal Family
Hal and Lyss are married happily and face the biggest challanges together. They got some backlash from both the Fells and Arden, but they proceed to get married and unite the countries for the first time in centuries. Their combined expertise and leadership make Ardend and the Fells two of the most prosperous countries. A few years into their marriage, they have their first daughter, and then their second. The only thing that puts the countries second to them is their two daughters.
The Talbot-Alfarsi Family
Breon and Sasha live in Fellsmarch together, often visiting Sasha’s mother and older sister Asha (who is not really mentioned in the Shattered Realms). While Sasha tends to stay with Lyss since she is her captain, Breon travels a bit and plays several shows, at least one a month. They find time to spend together and are happy, despite their rocky start.
The Dancer-Byrne-DeVilliers-Barrett Family
(Let’s face it, they’re probably one big family by this point)
Shadow, Lila, Hadley, and Julianna spend more time together than most of them would admit. There’s not really a set romantic relationship between anyone, but they just kind of hang about around each other as friends, and that’s more than enough for them. They travel a bit, going with Hadley on her adventures as the Fellsian navy commander, rangling the stray pirates that Evan and Destin didn’t get to in Carthis. They work well together as a team and make formidable opponents in mock battles that they often play, especially when the rest of the group is all in one place.
Every “family” comes together in Fellsmarch or someplace to catch up and spend a few holidays together when they can. They play games, attend events, and eat meals together, even just sitting around just talking with each other, enjoying everyone’s company. It’s a tradition that everyone willingly participates in, and is continued many years later.
(Some is partly based off of @wrongshatteredrealms ’s wedding headcanons; go check the post out!!!)

The Magemarked’s Abilities (SPOILERS)
I think people might underestimate the strength and use of the magemarked’s amilites.
Probably the most powerful is Evan’s abilities. Yeah, weather powers may not seem all that great, but if you’ve had a lot of thought on this like I have (trust me, I have, and not always on purpose), you’ll see that power over weather is one of the most powerful abilities. With a bit of refinement, you can make things levitate with wind, cause tornados and avalanches and other destructive things, and even be able to fly; you can move great heaps of water, make it rain, sleet, snow, or hail any time you want, cause a drought or a flood, and with wind and water combined you can make devastating hurricanes and water spouts; with lightning, you can probably cook a meal, make fires, shock someone’s heart to either kill or revive them, light up an area. Put those three together, and, with a lot of training or just by force of will alone, you can create and destroy however you want. I’m kinda disappointed that we didn’t get to see Evan use his powers in this sort of way, because it would have given him tremendous power and might’ve tipped the scale of the plot if used correctly.
Breon’s spellsinger powers—and, if the little tidbit in Shadowcaster and moments afterward where Breon was both extremely competent in and drawn to ships, possibly water abilities—have a lot of potential as well. His is basically mind controlling, using his siren voice and the sweet music from whatever instrument he has at the moment. With practice, he could sing a few notes and have even the most strong willed person become completely ensnared by him in a matter of seconds. If my theory that he also has some control over water (or at least something to do with ships, like how in the Percy Jackson series, Percy was able to use his powers to fully rig a ship with just a few waves of his hands), he could become a conqueror of not only the land, but the sea as well.
Jenna’s clairvoyant, fire, and shapeshifter abilities are also nothing to gloss over. Even when she was young, her body’s ability to turn heat and flame away were extremely prominent. As we saw in Deathcaster, she discovered that she can also manipulate fire. Guessing by the symbol next to her and her father’s name in the book at Celesgarde and scales surfacing in times of danger, I belive she also has shapeshifter abilites, maybe beyond that of just having scales and claws. There’s more of a chance that she can just turn into a dragon, but it could be that she can change into something else. What, though, I can’t tell. Her ability to see glimpses of the past, present, and future would have made a huge impact with the battle against Celestine.
From what I’ve gathered from Deathcaster and Stormcaster, Jak just had blood magery, and that in itself is powerful, though compared to the powers I discussed before this one it may seem a bit less impressive. Though, just by itself it can do a lot of damage. We’ve all read that in Deathcaster and Stormcaster, both Celestine and Evan talk about how powerful their blood magery is. Just a few drops of blood can bind someone to them. The only way that it can be undone is either substituting it with another blood mage’s blood, or using the blood of someone who has a different but powerful binding magic. The results for either undoing are vastly different, but they still get the job done, per say. Jak was the one who gave Celestine blood magery, which means that he on his own, if he were alive, might’ve had a huge influence as well.
Claire, though we haven’t seen her but is mentioned like Jak, had the power of lightning, I believe. Her powers I’m not as sure of. If her ability was lightning, then, such as like I had discussed in Evan’s, she’d be able to have tremendous power. We don’t really have a lot of information on her powers, so I’m not able to make a more thorough explanation. Nevertheless, the abilities her father had were powerful enough for him to be taken up as one of the five consorts of Empress Iona.
Put together, they would have been a devastating force for any enemies and powerful protection for their allies. They have enough means to take over the entire known world if they wanted to. If you underestimate them, it would be your downfall.

so with the last post in mind here’s some in depth stuff about my headcanons for shattered realms characters and their races if they were like. modern day people and not fictional
Jenna Bandelow
I think Jenna is half east asian and half black. all of the magemarked share the same mother, the Nazari line of Northern Island empresses, and if we use my conclusion that the Northern Islands are very very vaguely east asia-inspired, this makes all of them half east asian. i’ve also decided she’s half black because you can’t say she isn’t. below is a picrew rendition of what i think modern Jenna would look like
Tumblr media
Adrian (Ash) sul’Han and Alyssa (Lyss) ana’Raisa
Ash and Lyss are full siblings and so share the same racial background. their mother is half native fellsian and half white, their father is part of a vale family (most likely white) that has some wizard lineage, and all the Fellsian wizards came from the Northern Islands, making him at least partially east asian. It’s canon in the books that the Fellsian wizards mostly marry each other and don’t really mix with other groups so I’m going to say their father is around half east asian and half white. if we do some fractions this makes Lyss and Ash both half white, a quarter native fellsian, and a quarter asian-fellsian (i say asian-fellsian as a way to indicate that the population of fellsians with northern island heritage are very removed from that culture and have formed their own in the Fells.) below is their picrew renditions. i believe it’s canon that Lyss is darker skinned and generally more visibly native than Ash, while he’s closer to white passing considering how easily he blends in in Arden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Halston Matelon
Hal is white boy number one. his family has been in Arden for a long time on both sides. His father is a lord with the Matelon name being recognized across Arden, and there were Matelons for kings in the past. his picrew:

Lila Barrowhill Byrne
It’s explicitly stated in the books that Lila is a mixed kid, half white (Fellsian valefolk) and half black (Southern Islander). In addition to this, she’s also the only character who’s background is really essential to her conflict. she has the very classic, some might say cliché, mixed kid “i don’t know which side of the family i truly belong to” narrative. however it is pretty clear that Lila is closer to the black/southern islander side of her family, and her attachment to her father is more of him being her only surviving parent/the specific weirdness of the Byrne line being bonded to the queen. anyway here she is
Tumblr media
Breon d’Tarvos/Breon Alfarsi
Breon, like Jenna, is one of the magemarked and so is half east asian. I’m going to assume based on his real name and the fact that his father gave him an instrument native to Carthis that Breon’s father was meant to be Middle Eastern/Carthian. picrew:
Tumblr media
Evan Strangward
I know Evan is half east asian again because all the magemarked are according to my logic. i would also like to put forward the idea that he’s half desi, not for any logical reason but simply because i can
Tumblr media
Destin Karn
finally my beloved favorite ever. Destins dad is pretty much indisputably white. he has some sort of wizarding ancestry, probably northern islander. however, while fellsian wizards mostly married other fellsian wizards and would therefore still retain an east asian appearance, there’s no indication that ardenine wizards did the same thing. i would actually say it’s most likely that ardenine wizards intermarried with ardenine people when they could in order to escape the heavy persecution of arden’s church. therefore i think destins dad is mostly white with distant east asian ancestry. his mom is ambiguous, she comes from a trading family so she could easily be any mix of things. my headcanon is she’s part carthian since her family did have land in carthis, so that would make destin part middle eastern and part white. i think he’s pretty much white passing though. his picrew:
