I love sanditon but I'm so mad at sanditon for giving me a theo situation
Oh god tell me about it. I knew of him, found his role as Four in Divergent pretty good and hella hot but Sanditon has blasted him into the stratosphere and we're all reeling.

say we get s2, how long do you think they'll keep Sidney and Charlotte in angsty territory? I'm guessing like half a season at least tbh
At least that, yeah! I foresee it being at least episode 5 or 6 (assuming it’s another 8 episode season) before circumstances and character development finally lead to the end of Sidney/Eliza’s engagement. They’re gonna want to milk the separation angst for Char and Sidney while also leaving reasonable time for the dissolution of Sidney/Eliza to happen with realistic build up (like something has to happen that either means they don’t need Eliza’s money anymore or Eliza herself gets humanized and she decides to let Sidney go while keeping her money invested in the town, and in either case that development can’t be rushed).
I feel they also need the time to let Charlotte grow as well during this period of indefinite separation from Sidney. Like I was saying in another post I think she still had a lot to process when it came to her feelings for Sidney and wasn’t even necessarily ready for marriage yet, even though she believed it’s what she wanted. She was nervous as hell about it lol. Like Char is still coming of age and figuring herself out too while grappling with her heartbreak. It’s why I hope she gets courted by some hot new guy who is an actual Contender (in a way Stringer will never be) and that experience helps to solidify what she wants with Sidney? If that makes sense. Basically I’m in agreement with friends of mine like @beavesaintmarie and @eleonoraditoledo that Charlotte is IT for Sidney, she’s the One and he knows it, but he has the life experience that has helped him realize that, and while Sidney is the one for Charlotte too she hasn’t fully grasped that yet because she’s so young and inexperienced to recognize it. And I think that journey and her ongoing maturity deserve a couple of episodes of exploration before she and Sidney are officially free to be with each other. I mean recall neither of them have even said I love you to each other yet, so I feel like it was Davies’ intention to devote more time to this development for them before they ever got married (Sidney has emotional issues to work out too, not so much his love for Char which he’s sure of, but mostly to do with his self-loathing which I think makes him tell himself that Char will get over him while he’ll never get over her). Maybe it takes even the whole season, even an episode or two after Sidney is freed from Eliza before they get to be 100% on the same page with each other, emotionally.

well pbs masterpiece was a joint producer with ITV, so likely provided funding in exchange for airing rights. They could possibly persuade ITV to do a CS or a 2-4 ep series if it does well in the US in January (I hope it does BRILLIANTLY). Most important is that fans keep campaigning and don’t give up on the show!
*fight mode activated* ok sanditon fam...let's do this!!!

pal can we talk about sanditon bc I'm dying (of love for sidney)
Pal, yes we can!  I have been drooling over gifs of Theo James in Sanditon for weeks, and finally this past weekend decided I couldn’t wait till January to watch it here in the US.  (So, I binge watched it on ITV’s website with a VPN.)
I mean, the whole show is enjoyable, though darker, weirder, and sillier than I expected.  (And it doesn’t feel very Jane Austen-y to me.)  But, Sidney Parker is a real looker and steals the show.  I love a broody gentleman who gradually lets his guard down to show a softer side.
The thing I really appreciate about his character is how his moods and surliness are justified.  I would be fed up, too, if I had to deal with a brother like Tom.  Even when he loses his temper with Charlotte, it’s perfectly understandable given the circumstances.  In contrast, I recently read a historical romance where the man was disagreeable and quick to anger over very trivial things.
So, that’s why I like Sydney.  He’s broody within reason and sea bathes like a champ.  What about you??  What is it about him that has you dying of thirst love?

Note
Charlotte estimating that Sidney was the responsible brother in ep1 has now taken on a whole new level of meaning thanks to asshat Thomas
She should’ve just said that Tom is the irresponsible sibling, because both Arthur and Sidney are happy to clean up his mess while all he does is just run around shouting, “Sidney! What wonderful news!”
Fuck. Him.

breefraser replied to your quote “Episode 506 is a perfect example of how this show leapfrogs from...”
I really think we have to wait to see what happens. They've know they were keeping Murtagh alive since the second season. I'm also honestly much cooler with Jocasta having an affair with Murtagh her whole marriage with Duncan rather than with Ulysses.
The Jocasta x Murtagh stuff, by itself, doesn’t bother me as much as the general tendency of the show writers to “leapfrog” from one episode to another, as mentioned in that episode review.  The Jocasta story in this particular episode was just one example of a “detour” that doesn’t appear to matter all that much to the overarching plot of the season.  Though, to be fair, there are still 6 episodes left, so we’ll see.
It didn’t seem to me that they were setting up Murtagh and Jocasta having an affair behind Duncan’s back.  If the writers do go in that direction, I won’t be surprised, but it doesn’t make sense to me.  Book Jocasta is much more conniving than show Jocasta.
To be clear, I don’t think it was a bad choice to keep Murtagh alive on the show, and I actually did really enjoy Jocasta’s scenes in this episode.  Maria Doyle Kennedy is an amazing actress.  I just think the writers are having a really hard time juggling so many characters and plots.  It’s led to drastic shifts in tone and theme and characterization from episode to episode and contrived story lines.  I realize The Fiery Cross is a difficult book, with its own meandering plot, to try to adapt.  But, so far, I’m sad to say, this season has been mostly a fail (in my opinion).

Fifteen Degrees by @breefraser
Pitlochry passes, and he wonders if inviting her to Inverness was a mistake. He knows he cannot become attached to her and decides he will tell her as soon as possible, give her any information she may need, and then move on.
But there’s that attraction between them he can’t deny. He looks at her again, hair half pulled back from her face, falling around her shoulders, and there is a stray piece he wants to tuck behind her ear. No, he stops himself. She’s leaving. Whether it’s to return to America or go to the bloody past, she’s leaving.
A Roger x Bree Outlander fanfiction story.

11, 24, 25!
11. favourite native writer/poet?
I’ve never actually given it a thought to who my favourite writer is, I really like Jane Austen though. As for poets, I don’t actually really read poetry. I had to in high school, but haven’t really read any since then. Maybe I should though. I’d like to try Keats and a few others.
24. what other nation is joked about most often in your country?
Oh, I’m not sure. I probably should know this but can’t think right now.
25. would you like to come from another place, be born in another country?
Probably New Zealand. My grandma was born there along with her sister. Their parents went over to New Zealand in 1924, the year before my nan was born, and got married over there. I’ve been wanting to visit for years, so yeah probably New Zealand.

in multiple novel edits I've found that the villain is my unexpected favourite, so I'm wondering in your WIP who is your surprise fave?
I'll be honest most of my characters aren't well developed enough for them to be unexpected favourites yet 😭 but Hans has kind of come out of the woodwork as a pretty fun character without me trying too hard! He's just this really chill but loud pal of the main male characters (sort of like Miles but working class? But that kind of spirit in some ways).

omg I still miss The Crimson Field! I miss Miles being an absolute dork. I miss Oona Chaplin being beautiful and devastating. I miss being like 'lol Thomas Gillan and I share a personality'. I miss Joan. effing. Livesey. How did six hours of tv burrow so deep into my heart?
ME TOO!!!! I am never going to be over the cancellation of this series. Everyone was amazing and the stories were so compelling. Thomas and Kitty’s romance was beautiful! Miles was such a doof and I loved him But JOAN! WHAT HAPPENS TO JOAN AND HER HANDSOME GERMAN HUSBAND ANTON!?!? I’m so mad they didn’t continue their stories!!! WHY!! Crimson Field is so good!

I just have to say I am never going to get over Da Jamie or his adoring looks at Bree, my heart is as full to the brim as his seems to be. Fave relationship of OL rn bar none.
Me neither! The relationship between them is so innocent and pure it makes my heart happy.
Jamie never had the opportunity to really raise any of his children so when he finally see’s Brianna someone who not only resembles him but is a constant reminder of his love for Claire is really special.
It’s definitely one of my favorite relationships as well!

Hey, ty for responding to my post! I just want to say I may have worded it wrong but I wasn't really calling out you or anyone in particular. I understand your perspective and for the most part I agree there should be a build-up of tension and a learning curve b/t them. I'm totally open to that payoff, I just want it to have a slow progression bc I think their separation throws up a lot of other hurdles before bringing sex into the equation. That's all! :)
Oh yeah 100% agreed on there too! Lol like I’d definitely be against a rushed sex scene early in the season before they’ve contended with several episodes of the separation conflict and angst. It wouldn’t be organic for their love story or nearly as satisfying that way.

yeah it’s weird. I believe it but I also am very confused. Why break the news on instagram of all places? did a social media intern fuck up or is this legit the news of cancellation?? such strange timing too
apparently Rose Williams and Crystal Clarke commented the insta post...I'm really heartbroken...I thought we really stood a chance for a happy ending :-(

her hair, his stance, that pic has 97% gotta be Bree and Roger right
Oh it’s definitely Bree, I’m just not sure it’s Roger? I mean, it probably is. It would make sense that they’re in a scene together, especially since it looks to be their cabin. 97% sounds about right, though. I’m curious...what is it about his stance that reads Roger/Rick to you?
This person seems to think it’s Murtagh, haha. I guess she forgot that Murtagh has gray hair now:

Anyway, I’m just bummed they’re more than halfway through filming and we haven’t seen a decent shot of Roger, yet. (I didn’t like the heavily photoshopped promo shots they released in May.)
