Highlanders with their broad Swords have not their Equals in doing ready Business: They are brave Fellows, and unacquainted with fear, especially if they have their Broad Swords. I saw one of those breechless [eg. kilted] Boys kill four Rebels all within the Space of half an Hour. The last of them begged hard for Quarter; upon which ‘the Highlander told him, he was not so ‘the Butcher as to quarter him, but that he intended to bring him back to his Allegiance to King George the Third.

For the fandom oc ask meme, please 👀 Aqun and Mae:
-What canon character gets annoyed by your OC? -Did your OC bear witness to anyone’s full character arc?
fandom OC ask meme
Aqun Adaar
What canon character gets annoyed by your OC?: extremely funny question because Aqun specifically is trying his damndest to be the least annoying person in the universe. he is calm he is understanding he is trying to resolve situations in the most efficient way possible. If anyone does get annoyed by him, it's probably Sera because he's kind of a party pooper at times. (he did laugh at the breechless soldiers, though. and he also made her this little device that plays a fun little jingle before releasing a bunch of bees. so it's hard to stay mad at him, really)
Did your OC bear witness to anyone’s full character arc?: About every DAI companion? I'm going to highlight The Iron Bull though, because I feel like they've gone through a full character arc in relation to each other. Aqun starts out extremely wary of Bull (which, from Bull's perspective, is fair) and takes a very "keep your enemies closer" approach with him. Over time, though, the wariness turns into a cautious respect, and then Demands Of The Qun happens and, well, they have some things to discuss after that. Aqun grew up with his father's stories of navigating the crisis of going Tal-Vashoth, so he has some insight into what Bull is going through, and he does his best to help.
Mae Briarheart
What canon character gets annoyed by your OC?: Oh, Hiravias for sure. They're both orlans (Small Furry People Race often stereotyped as "savage" and animalistic) and they've taken the exact opposite approaches to dealing with the prejudice, Hiravias leaning into the stereotype and Mae bending over backwards to escape it and make herself as CivilizedTM as possible. This leads to them butting heads pretty often, usually with Mae being the provoker; Hiravias reminds her of everything she's trying to escape, and she can't help but snap at him every once in a while. There's also the "flagrantly talking about looting his people's sacred ruins" thing. Honestly I think the only reason it doesn't come to blows and/or to him leaving is that Hiravias sees through Mae's bs at least a little, and realizes she's lashing out because of her own insecurity. Not exactly an "I can fix her" situation, but there's a "maybe if I let her hiss at me like a spicy kitten for a while eventually we can have a normal conversation" vibe to it. And wouldn't you know! it works!
Did your OC bear witness to anyone’s full character arc?: Once again Most Companions, but going to highlight Edér because their dynamic is crunchy to me. She starts out extremely dismissive of him and borderline hostile at times because of his Orlan Racism thing; basically she hears him make one (1) joke about furry people and dismisses him as anything but hired muscle for a good while. Which means his orlan-related character development weirdly takes longer because Mae doesn't exactly make it easy, but when it clicks it clicks and he realizes why she's been Like This. It then takes her a good while to notice the change in his demeanor, and when she does she's kind of taken aback because?? people are capable of change?? hold on this is illegal (<- might have based her entire worldview on the idea that people can't change and fate is inescapable). And then she learns that he's?? thankful to her?? because from his perspective she helped him become better in this regard and others?? dude I was just being mean to you because it made me feel better?? and then she feels bad about it. and then she's begrudgingly proud of him. gods damn it when did this empty-headed human farmer become Her Guy. she's invested in him now. it was kind of easier when she treated him like a talking training dummy that could carry heavy things for her

This is the tangent the anon was talking about. The achievement is called King Breechless. I'll put it under the cut for curious people, since it's quite obscure, as in very specific to get. It contains absolutely zero spoilers, it's just a thing for fun.
If you wear a fine dress and reject Aubrey's flirting but accepts his friendly compliment, this is what he has to say;
"Your dress is very pretty, and your shawl, too. Now, unless I'm going to a masquerade dressed up as, say, a traditional fair maiden, or that old king who loved fancy skirts so much that the tailors ran out of fabric, you know who I mean... Well! Actually, I dressed up as him once - it was quite the success. Couldn't get the beard right, though. My own beard growth is too meager, so I could only achieve... Honestly, it wasn't much more than some stubble. And I saved for so long! People didn't realise that I was trying to grow a beard; they thought I had lost my razor." Aubrey tilts his head to the side. "Well, aside from that, I'm not one for dresses, but if it was my personal style, I wouldn't mind something similar."

MARGARET I // QUEEN OF DENMARK
“She was Queen regnant of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden (which included Finland) from the late 1380s until her death, and the founder of the Kalmar Union that joined the Scandinavian kingdoms together for over a century. She had been queen consort of Norway from 1363 to 1380 and of Sweden from 1363 to 1364 by marriage to Haakon VI. Margaret was known as a wise, energetic and capable leader, who governed with "farsighted tact and caution," earning the nickname "Semiramis of the North". Also famous derisively as "King Breechless", one of several derogatory nicknames once thought to have been invented by her rival King Albert of Sweden, she was also known by her subjects as "Lady King", which became widely used in recognition of her capabilities. Knut Gjerset calls her "the first great ruling queen in European history."”

If you're ever looking for prompts (and cause I'm on a Rylen binge right now and came across this delightful phrase), could you write something with Elaria where Rylen says "Yer oot yer face!", which roughly translates to "You're very drunk!"?
“Elaria…”
The way her name rolled off his tongue reminded him of the smooth, fragrant whiskey he was sipping. Invigorating, bright and warm, with a slight sting as it slid down his throat. Much as he loved it, his favorite dram, he much preferred the taste of a woman – this one in particular.
Her scent wafted through the air as she giggled and flipped her long, silver locks over one delicate shoulder. When she shot him a teasing glance, Rylen grinned. Every laugh she rewarded his awful jokes with filled him with pride, bolstered his confidence.
Evenings like this were rarer o’ late. Rylen was often busy as the demands of his position grew by the day, and Elaria was traveling more frequently and for longer periods. Though they had a silent understanding that this began as a mere dalliance, he couldn’t prevent the feelings he had toward her from growing. She was somethin’ special; a right bonny lass, yes, but it was the person within that kept him interested more than one night.
Tonight he had the immense pleasure of her private company, and he wasn’t going to waste the opportunity. She’d invited him to her cabin, and they’d spent the last hour drinking and flirting somethin’ fierce. He sat across from her, back against the bed, legs stretched and ankles crossed.
Elaria lay on the scarlet rug before the fire, head propped up with one hand, drink in the other. Breechless, hair unbound, wearing naught but a simple tunic that draped teasingly over her lithe form. Every time she moved it shifted a bit further up her hips.
“Maker, you’re a sight.”
“A good one, I hope,” she slurred, one finger tracing over her thigh.
Rylen chuckled. “You’re oot yer face, lass.”
She glared half-heartedly, then rolled onto her knees. “What’s wrong with my face?”
A deep, hearty laugh burst from his lips at her sour expression. Wiping a single tear from the corner of his eye, he shook his head. “No, no. It means, er, you’re drunk.”
“So are you.”
“Aye, that I am. But not too drunk to tease ye.”
“Oh?” Elaria smirked, leaned forward with palms flat on the rug, and crawled slowly over him.
Rylen’s breath caught in his throat as he stared. The tunic hung low in front, revealing the swaying breasts beneath, and pulled up over her firm, round arse. When they were finally nose to nose, she paused and bit her plump lower lip. Her turquoise eyes, half-lidded with intoxication from both desire and drink, reflected the dim, flickering fire as they glanced down to his lips.
“Well,”-she straddled his lap and draped her slender arms over his shoulders-“I’m not too ‘oot my face’ for this.”

Tagged by the lovely @through-my-shadow. Sorry for replying so late. I promise I didn’t forget you, was just busy for a bit
These were some good questions, really made me think lol
1. Where does your username come from/what does it mean?
My name is Maria. I have an Aussie friend and, for those who don’t know, Australians have a habit of adding z’s to a name for uhh fun I guess lol. So Garry becomes Gazz or Gazzer, Joyti would be Jozz (I guess), and Maria turns into Mazz :) Sometimes I’m called Mazzeroo (Mazz + kangaroo) to really stress the Aussie part of it. That name was taken (don’t remember if it was here or some other platform), so I just added another M in front to make it mmazzeroo :)
2. One city/country you want to visit before you die?
Everywhere lol I’ve never been outside Europe so… I’d love to see Morocco, Egypt, India, Australia, Mozambique, Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, cross-country ride in the US, see Canada’s vastness. When my unknown-to-me millionaire uncle in a far away country dies and leaves his fortune to me I’d also love to go see the Seychelles, Mauritius, and Tahiti lol
3. If you could resurrect one historical figure who would it be?
Just one?!?! *several hours later* I’ve managed to narrow my list to the following:
- Margaret I, (1353-1412), queen consort of Norway and Sweden and later ruler in her own right of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. She was the founder of the Kalmar Union, which spanned Scandinavia for over a century. Margaret was known as a wise, energetic and capable leader, who governed with farsighted tact and caution. She was derisively called "King Breechless", one of several mean nicknames invented by her rival Albert of Mecklenburg, but was also known by her subjects as "the Lady King", which became widely used in recognition of her capabilities.
- Elizabeth I, (1533-1603), Queen of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death on 24 March 1603. Sometimes called the Virgin Queen, Gloriana or Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth was the last of the five monarchs of the House of Tudor. Don’t think she needs anymore introduction really :)
- Last but not least I’d bring back what I think would be an amazing trio: Mozart, Freddie Mercury and Prince 💜💜💜 ( @callmedewitt, @thebeautyofjoneryzz )
4. If you could only watch one film for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Sound of Music. Self-explanatory. I’d like to think @jalenmara would agree with me *fingers crossed*
5. Do you believe in reincarnation?
Yes, I do, because I think there’s too much to learn and see in this world than can be done in just one lifetime. Also, because I find solace in the idea that I can hopefully get to see all (or just some) of the loved ones I’ve already had to see cross the rainbow bridge...
6. A scent that immediately makes you think of your childhood?
Freshly melted dark chocolate. My granddad watched me the first few years of my life while my parents were working. He was a retired pastry maker - chocolates, marcipan, Danish pastries etc. (For reference, I’m a native Dane btw). He would make it at home in his kitchen and I still remember waking up from naps to the smell of freshly melted dark chocolate. My granddad would of of course let me lick the bowl lol. I grew up having Danish pastries and confectionery chocolates almost daily because of my granddad. Didn’t know how lucky and spoiled I was lol
7. If you could plan your last meal, what would it be?
Beans on toast and a strong cup of tea? I don’t know. Would it really matter? If I knew it’d be my last meal I don’t think I’d be very hungry anyway. If I didn’t know then it’d be fine with a meal like this for me. Having comfort food as a last meal would be fitting somehow I feel.
8. Know any good jokes?
This one always makes me laugh because it’s so stupid + I can hear Eddie laughing at it himself:
“A bear and a rabbit were taking a shit in the woods. And the bear turns to the rabbit and says, ‘Excuse me, do you have problems with shit sticking to your fur?’ And the rabbit says, ‘no." So the bear wiped his ass with the rabbit.” - Eddie Murphy Delirious, 1983
This one always makes me laugh because it’s so stupid + I can hear Eddie laughing at it himself
9. Most found colour in your wardrobe?
Probably blue and black. It goes well with pretty much everything else
10. Do you have any pets?
Grew up with both cats and dogs so I’m not one of those who’ll ever say one is better than the other. They require different things and certain lifestyles fit one better than the other I’d say. All that just to say that currently I have a cat:
11. Post a gif of the last TV show you watched.
Sara Ramirez in a suit, sometimes walking around with necktie and suspenders...it does something to me. The political topics being portrayed in the series are good too lol
Sorry, don’t have new questions for new people...

Queen Margaret I of Scandinavia grave at Roskilde
Margaret I (Danish: Margrete Valdemarsdatter, Bokmål: Margrete Valdemarsdatter, Nynorsk: Margrete Valdemarsdotter, Swedish: Margareta Valdemarsdotter, Icelandic: Margrét Valdimarsdóttir; 15 March 1353 – 28 October 1412) was queen consort of Norway (1363–1380) and Sweden (1363–1364) and later ruler in her own right of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, from which later period there are ambiguities regarding her specific titles. She was the founder of the Kalmar Union, which spanned Scandinavia for over a century. Margaret was known as a wise, energetic and capable leader, who governed with "farsighted tact and caution," earning the nickname "Semiramis of the North". She was derisively called "King Breechless", one of several mean nicknames invented by her rival Albert of Mecklenburg, but was also known by her subjects as "the Lady King", which became widely used in recognition of her capabilities.
