we really need to start writing more fics about the botw champion’s being the threats they are. guys they are SOLDIERS. WARRIORS. they are not out here having little cutesy times ok? they are fucking killing shit. Link canonically killed a dude. they are the best of the best at what they do. show it. give these characters depth. don’t just make them their tropes.

like i want less people to just go ‘oh and then they killed an enemy camp anyway.’ like HOW my guy? i am BEGGING please give these characters more depth than what they were given on screen.

especially urbosa! shes not just mommy figure or wine aunt she is a LEADER of her people and a warrior show her acting like one. revali may be a prick but he IS the best warrior rito village has ever seen. he’s not shying away at blood or violence.

MIPHA. my god MIPHA BABY GIRL!! what did they do to you? made you into a uwu wify who is only here to be romantic conflict for other ships??? (and then get mad at you for it?) or only make you links girlfriend? daruk is massive and strong enough he could probably rip a bokoblin apart with his bare hands, his weapon is there to make everyone else feel better.

like if were gonna write fics about needing to comfort or about anyone being squemish make it Zelda. have her realize she’s basically traveling with some of the most dangerous people in the country and having to figure out how she feels about it.

Like come ON y’all! Think of the fics we could be writing!!!

Here's what I think about Revali's SOS signal:

Now, most people say, "Oh, Revali, he was so full of himself that he didn't want to send an SOS and he got himself killed because he was too proud to call for help."

That's not how I see it. I love Revali, but let's be honest: he's a preening peacock at best and a narcissistic bully at worst (honestly, he's somewhere in between the two). But he IS as good as he says.

So I think that, by the time he sent his SOS, it was an act of desperation. Not a desperation born out of realizing that he, himself, was about to die, but a desperate hope born out of realizing that they had been utterly defeated.

Like I said, Revali is as good as he claims to be. And he knows it (hence his superiority complex). So if he knew he was about to be defeated, then he KNEW there was no one left to save him.

So I think he waited until the last second because he knew it was pointless. Not so much pride as realism. "If I'm dead, then we're all dead." My guess is that he turned on the signal as a last-ditch effort, some survival instinct kicking in and hoping beyond hope, for the first time ever, that he was wrong, that maybe someone else had survived.

Upon speculating why Revali holds such a strong hatred towards Link in Age of Calamity before he has pulled the Master Sword, I have three theories.

One - that he is simply a Teenage Boy Bird and feels threatened by the only other teenage boy in the group and thus must assert his dominance by instinct

Two - that he got into a fuckton of trouble with whoever the village elder was because he sent the entire Rito army to try to kill the Princess of Hyrule's personal knight by mistake, and he's mad and embaressed about it so blaming Link.

Or three - everyone already knows Link is the chosen knight before Link knows it.

At the beginning of this game, Link is just Zelda's personal guardsman. That is all. This man plays no part in the Calamity, he is just following Zelda around to keep her safe from monsters. Meanwhile, Zelda and the Champions are roaming the lands searching for this worthy Knight to wield the sword that seals the darkness.

Every single Champion knew right off the bat that this incredibly competent swordsman who looks suspiciously like the ancient tapestrys is destined to pull that sword all along. They all know its him. They didn't need to wonder. Daruk and Mipha even share a look and laugh in a cutscene after mentioning 'trying to find this mysterious knight' then looking directly at Link. They all know. They're just waiting for Zelda and Link to figure it out.

Revali is out here being asked to help support this incredible, unstoppable hero they havn't found yet - while this said hero is actually stood very obviously three feet away from him at 5ft tall staring silently into the abyss like an idiot.

Dude is so genuinely convinced this man is a fucking idiot. How can he not even KNOW he is the knight from legend? Ffs you expect him to blindly follow this moron who has no idea he is even leading? Absolutely wild.

If someone came up to me at work and said "hey I'm looking for the boss can you help me find him so he can tell us what to do?" While the boss was stood right next to them picking his nose like "uh yeah - you seen him???" I would also not trust that guy to lead me. I would be just as mad about that decision. Revali is so valid for that.

There’s something that always gets me about the kids of Hateno Village thinking of Zelda as a teacher first and a princess second. In fact, everyone in Hyrule (sans Yiga) loves her for who she is, for her intelligence, hardworking spirit, kindness, and determination.

He been watching the big zora spar! Lionel gave him the tiny pin sword, told him he could be a mighty warrior one day and now he’s tryin to live that heroic dream! May be mid but is super proud of his small achievements! Fuck bullies! Prove them wrong and be cooler than them!!!

Unfortunately has tried to invade sea critter hidey-holes but was unsuccessful, then decided tyranny wasn’t for him lol.

Echoes of Wisdom Headcanon Countdown

Zelda's Lullaby was written (in universe) by none other than Zelda herself - at first, she uses it to help calm Link (and occasionally herself) from nightmares once the war on Demise is over. For eons to follow, across even time and space, this melody becomes synonymous with the princesses of the Hyrule family and is sung to bring peace upon a weary heart. In a way, it is something that has connected Zelda with herself and her loved ones through every lifetime - even between lifetimes. It is the gentle, loving heart of Hylia from so long ago that was not allowed to flourish in a time scorched by battle. No wonder it becomes a symbol of the castle in the Era of the Wild!

I wonder if we'll hear it again soon?
