Spotlight 10: Aegea

The child of seafaring merchants, Aegea "Bravebow" became orphaned as a young teen. She started working at the docks to afford food and became enchanted with a sellsword's way of life. She's sailed on many ships to many lands as a mercenary and comes highly recommended by her former contractors. She will accept almost any kind of job, but prefers simple jobs that don't put her at odds with the locals so she can sample the region's alcohol at a local bar afterwards.

She is always accompanied by her parrot Inoa. Inoa often acts as a lookout for Aegea, watching her master's back while she focuses on other tasks.

Thought to be a skilled bowman himself, though it seemed like the young woman may have had just a few more tricks up her sleeve. Had the hero CURIOUS, to say the least. Couldn’t stop looking at her. Was it strange for him to study every move in an attempt to learn? Already found self trying to mimic motions in silence.

Father’s Day self-para

It was only 11am, and Roy was exhausted.

He had started the day by going back to Star City, and visiting his actual father’s grave. Roy Sr. was buried in the Star City national cemetery, alongside Mayors and other government officials Roy has never heard of. Roy could remember coming here for the first time when he was only 5 years old, and all the old people telling him how great his dad was, and how his dad died a hero. Wish he could have met him. Talked to him. Apparently Roy Sr. was around his age now when Roy was born. Probably could have given him some advice. It didn’t feel very heroic to Roy at the time to leave his kid all alone, but he kind of understood now. Roy Sr. died a hero, and had a pretty large gravestone to prove it. There were wreaths and a large inscription, and Roy’s small boquet was dwarfed in comparison to what others were putting down. He never felt comfortable visiting graves. It felt disrespectful, but maybe more disrespectful if there was an actual physical corpse to mourn. But the grave was empty. There was nothing really left to bury. But he left his flowers anyways, right near the base, then set off back to his truck, to make the short drive to the reservation. 

It’s been a while since he’s been back, but thankfully Brave bow’s body was buried far away from where he grew up so he wouldn’t be gently roasted by everyone he grew up with. He was here about a month ago, and they knew making the drive from New York to here as long and hard, and ever more difficult with a 3-year old who’s sole purpose right now was to run as far away from, and as fast as she could, away from Roy at every given moment. He should make more of an effort to visit more. He never understood people burying their loved ones so close to home. Brave Bow told him way back in Navajo culture, they used to put their dead up in trees, usually a designated one far off the reservation. Brave bow was buried under a  simple rock that said his name and clan, and the years he was alive. Not the big fancy “Father, Brother, Hero” tagline his dad got.  No wreaths or anything either. No flowers would be left here. Instead, he sat there and talked, trying to catch him up on everything since the last time he’d been here. Showing emotion would only bring his spirit back, so Roy kept it to a casual conversation. Asked him for advice. Brave bow probably had his life in order more than anyone Roy had ever met in his entire life. Roy could sworn this man had some sort of metagene that helped him predict whatever mood Roy was in before he would even see him for the day. He had boundless patience, which Roy understood now was something that came naturally to him.. He blamed his great upbringing. 

Next, he decided to call Hal instead of visiting him. He was either in space with some lantern stuff, or in space with some league stuff, or flying his plane around. It was stupid for Roy to think Hal would pick up his phone. Hal often went weeks without being able to locate his phone, citing it was hard to keep up. Roy could probably check the League rooster to see where Hal was, since Roy was ‘technically’ a member. But that was a lot of work. besides Hal would probably get mad that Roy was calling him on father’s day, since considered himself to be more of a ‘cool uncle’ type. Hal was the one to teach him to drive while he was still recovering, and taught him to shave, even when the razor felf shakey in his hand. He left a short message, and made his way back to Gotham, picking up some food along the way.

Once he got to Gotham, he parked his car at a gas station and wandered to the nearest sewer. There was probably a better way to do this that wasn’t Roy waving cheap Chinese food in front of every sewer in Gotham, but he hasn’t figured it out yet. Waylon also didn’t like carrying a phone, but this system worked out okay. Thankfully, Waylon seemed to sense Roy coming (probably smelled the cheap food) and they met at the Northern docks as usual. Roy told him about going to see Roy Sr. and Bravebow, and calling Hal. How Jason was coming back. How Lian asked to see her mom more and more and Roy had no idea to respond. How he hung out with some old Teen Titans members. How Dick had disappeared and no one knew if he was alive. How he had sat at his dining room table for 3 hours last night, just staring at a bottle of booze. How low he’s been feeling ever since his best friend was presumed dead. How his arms had been itching more than usual. Waylon listened with characteristic silence, and rubbed his back once he finished talking. They talked about how Roy was still sober, and things were going to get better. They ate in silence for a few minutes, and then Waylon slapped him on the back, causing a few morsels to fall in the pier water, and reminded him he had one last call to make. Roy groaned over dramatically as Waylon laughed. As he disappeared back in the water, Roy unlocked his phone and hovered over the call button. Maybe a text would be better? E-mail? Letter? He could attached it to a rock and throw it through one of Ollie’s obnoxious floor to ceiling windows. Before he could think himself out of it, he hit call.

The phone rang and rang, and Roy could feel his stomach drop which each passing tone. Ollie was probably at his dad’s grave, or probably spending it with Connor or Mia, his not-fuckup kids. It kept on ringing. Not even the sound of Ollie digging through whatever pile of shit to find his phone. It went to voicemail, and Roy tried to mask his disappointment and relief for a short message.

“Hey Ollie, it’s Roy. Just wanna say happy father’s day. I had a lot of father figures to get through, but I guess I saved the best for last. Take care.” Roy spoke quickly, hanging up as soon as he was finished. That one was the hardest, considering the last time Ollie and Roy had talked it was a screaming match about how unfit to be a father Roy was. At some point they needed to work this out, but Roy was happy with never talking to him again. But, the guy still did adopt him and house him and feed him, which got him some dad points. Not many, but a few. 

He thought briefly about calling Andre or Robert, but decided against it. Strongly. He’s never actually met Jade’s dad and possible dad, but it was probably for the better. Roy didn’t know if they knew Lian was a thing. Like they had a granddaughter.

Maybe Batman. That would be hilarious as fuck.He was almost his father-in-law at some point. Speaking of Batman, Lian had been staying at the Manor while Roy was running at all ends of the Earth trying to find all his father figures in life. He drove to the Manor while mentally planning the rest of his day to do the only thing he had to do this day, and that was be a kickass dad to the best girl in the world.

What to do with a -atk +def bridal Cordelia? Also I just found your channel and you're so cute!! Keep on being such an awesome and positive part of the community :3

With a -atk I’d say use her cupid bow to make her a support unit, or you can still do bravebow/firesweep sets due to her naturally high attack.

My first ever Jeorge had perfect IVs (back then, they changed but he'll always be perf to me) and came at 5*s. I just recently got him to +10, bravebow and tearing up the field. Thank you for your encouragement btw!! I have like 1 thing I completed ith him and my sel. mute summoner so far and I'm satisfied with it, so there's that! - Jeorge anon

Raw Cut of the Roy update while I get my shit up and running, the handwritten meta info is all subject to change (Bravebow is probably going to be a biological relative in the final version, for example) but I built on a lot of it in my other blackout notes, so

Also they’re not mentioned here and idk when I’ll get to them, but Lian and Jade are part of headverse canon (as is Artemis (Crock), as part of the modern!JSA/JSI) and alive. I know some folks get sensitive about Lian’s treatment (understandably) and I probably don’t have enough of an audience for it to be a problem, but the meta here is backstory/early years stuff and she figures into the Arrow- and Bat-Family stuff later down the line.

(She might be in the Generation Outlaws/Dark Titans, but I haven’t even finalized the line-up for that)

Also that tiny Prometheus helmet is not final, but their whole deal is gonna be a love letter to Morrison’s work in general

Anyway expect the final version whenever I get colors figured and more to come when I get my notebooks back (long story)

If I ever end up getting another triangle adept fodder, I'm actually considering making a 4 star merged Sophia as a Raven tome user with bowbreaker as a means of dealing with the threat that is Brave Lyn as I don't have a counter to her at all, all the while still being able to hit Brave Ike with a lot of single hit damage. Could I have your opinion on this build? She's a +Defense/-Speed Sophia. Also, would I have to get the +version of the Raven tome or would the regular one suffice?

Okay so lets say you have a non merged one.

You need bowbreaker 3 to survive if shes bravebow + and you have regular raouraven.

However if you have the raouraven+ she lives automatically without bow breaker, meaning you can open yourself up to quick riposte and renewal. However with those ivs you need quick riposte to KO Lyn in that combat.

The other option is if you have a +atk Sophia she can Ko back without quick riposte with some merges or 5 star and have room for renewal

So I think its better to have the version with more might.
