Iris-

I missed a whole lot while I was on hiatus from the fandom. In fact, I’ve often joked that when I returned, I felt like a caveman who was stumbling around, not understanding how the world had changed around me while I’d been frozen in a block of ice for a hundred years.

Well… if I was that caveman, I can only think of you as the person who stood next to me, holding a blow-dryer, patiently trying to thaw me out. (Of course, you were wearing hella-cute rubber boots so you wouldn’t get electrocuted. Because you’re always prepared like that. You’re a pro.)

I know I told you that my mother was always my biggest supporter. I felt like I was letting her down when I stopped writing and stayed away from it for so long. There seemed to be signs everywhere, telling me to get back to it. And then, when I made the decision to try again… I met you. I do believe our friendship was meant to be. My mother’s favorite flower was always the iris. Call it another sign, or perhaps, divine intervention.

You are a blessing.
