The Brennan interview with Hank about his career path is reaching into a place in my soul that I don't show to anyone and I've been on the verge of crying MANY times throughout it.

It's like the picture-perfect representation of the gifted kid that is shoved into the cold uncaring world to soon learn you're toothless and poor and not as special as you once thought.

But beyond just that, and it's interesting to place it against the interviews CR cast did with B.F. where the main thing I took from it was that "you should say yes to things that come your way" as Taliesin verbalizes, but I see it echoing throughout the other stories, then with Brennan's story you see he was someone eager to say yes but never given the opportunities until the very end where he slowly came into the acceptance of it (insane to hear he wasn't accepted right away into CH and reminded me of Monsters University ending, once again those movies being accurate to real life 🤯).

And me currently being a university student (who once wanted to go to film school also but gave up in HS bc of fear and sometimes regrets not taking that path 💀) with very little ambition to drive me forward, seeing opportunities pass me by, and being completely terrified of life after it, I find a lot more hope that things will get better, especially if I stand up for the occasions that life might bring me, but either way I will survive it.

Guitar (so long as they have a pick to strum the strings with) and drums-#-and piano and other string instruments #wind instruments and brass however they probably can't because you need to blow air into them and haha they can't control air #but yeah! basically if this guy learns enough instruments they can form a 'ghost' orchestra/band #they can literally be the conductor and wave their hand around and let the instruments play music #except it would be very difficult and almost impossible because they have to think about what every single instrument is playing #all of the notes one by one and keeping in time/beat #but they could pull it off #it's something I want to write them doing one day

I was like “I’ll listen to some big band jazz while I work so I can get stuff done!” And that was a terrible idea

#I still have 10 year old me’s idea of like “oh it doesn’t have words it’s boring and background noise”#That mindset is directly contradicted by the 10+ years of musical training that followed #I hear a single low brass instrument I’m locked in for at least a half hour #I cannot stress this enough I need to be working *now*#It’s big band jazz how do I not focus on it #Yes I am a generally terrible jazz musician that’s not relevant #The fact that I don’t do it well doesn’t mean I don’t like it #Formal apology to every piece that has involved ghost notes ever #I solo okay but the euphonium is really not a solo jazz instrument

also another reason i play picc despite it causing my migraines is because i can use it to win arguments. Like any other instrument you have no right to complain about piccolo being "too high" when i am playing it and it gives ME migraines. like. ok coward. what do u even have to complain about
