Brandis Destane, my twst Mozenrath from the Aladdin TV series.
I typically write him as an antagonistic character within NRC, the embodiment of the "opportunistic and sneaky" students that Crowley frequently complains about.
He hails from a further corner of the Scalding Sands, and I just wanted to draw him in the silk robes from the event XD

Okay, everyone. I had a sick day today and I wanna waste some time, so I’m gonna have some fun
Remember when I took the Mary Sue Litmus Test for Sora as though I were Nomura writing him in Kingdom Hearts as a Disney fanfiction? Well, we’re about to do the same thing but
THIS TIME FOR MOZENRATH BAYBEE
The premise being that Disney’s Aladdin is the canon work and Bill’n’Bob are writing ATAS as an Aladdin “fanfiction” with Mozenrath as their OC. And because I have the time, this post is being typed live as I fill this out, with commentary.
WOW. WOWWWWW I CAN’T BELIEVE MOZENRATH ACTUALLY FAILS THE FIRST FLIPPING QUESTION THIS IS ACTUALLY HILARIOUS YES THIS IS OUR NEW CHARACTER...UM...MOTZ-AND-ROTH. MOZENRATH
C’mon, there’s no way they don’t know how pretty they drew him
SKINNY BOI
I have heard they actually animated some of his quirks based on Brandis in the recording booth so YA FAIL AGAIN MOZZY
*Edna Mode voice* NO CAPES
I gave him the benefit of the doubt and didn’t check that second box because I don’t think “flying, air-breathing, talking eel” counts as a “mythical creature”
Um...yes...but that’s the point? He’s a scary and effective villain because he’s such a super sorcerer at such a young age! Which causes hurdles for our HEROES to get around and sparks necessary CONFLICT
I DON’T EVEN NEED TO SAY IT
Now, abusive Destane is not CANON, so I left a lot of these boxes alone, BUT THE BIG ONES HAD TO BE CHECKED
If the licensed games or the HTAS crossover are any indication, there was absolutely NO rights issue with Jafar or Jonathan Freeman, sooooooo. (Albeit Moz has to share the pedestal of “the new villain” with Abis Mal, Ayam Aghoul, Mirage, Mechanicles...)
Just posting which boxes I DIDN’T check because they AREN’T explicitly canon and the development rumor is up for debate. You win this round, Mozenrath.
BUT YOU DON’T WIN THIS ROUND BECAUSE BEING THE VILLAIN DIDN’T SAVE YOU FROM BEING OUTVILLAINED BY KHARTOUM
The arc is “Two to Tangle” and the conflict is “he got himself into this and now he has to get himself out”
We’re into De-Suifiers now and he admittedly has a lot going for him in this area
Referring again to “Two to Tangle” and that problem was “I am literally in my archnemesis’ body and we have to work together if we ever want to not be fused with our worst nightmares again”
I didn’t post ALL of the boxes I checked, but our grand total is...
Not as Sue as Sora. He only hits the uppermost bracket by one point. But he IS in the uppermost bracket!
And my point, as usual, is to say that if Bill Motz and Bob Roth can create an all-out Sue character for their Aladdin fanfiction and have him go down as one of the most cult-classic cartoon characters in 90s-kid history, then SO CAN YOU! Just...not for the 90s. Because that decade has already passed. But LIVE YOUR DREAMS! WRITE YOUR CHARACTERS WITHOUT FEAR!

Nette Claims National Championship As Lady Lions Finish 4th at Nationals!
Fifteen wrestlers represented the Emmanuel College women's wrestling team at the Women's College Wrestling Association (WCWA) National Championship on Friday, February 8th and Saturday, February 9th. Among the pool of 36 Schools and 315 Wrestlers, the Lions walked away with 1 National Champion, 3 Finalists, and 2 Semifinalists as the team claimed a 4th place overall finish.
The Lady Lions finished with an overall score of 167.5 points behind 1st place finisher Menlo College (199.5), second place finisher Simon Fraser University (195), and 3rd place finisher McKendree University (189).
Leading the Lions was Junior Abby Nette who dominated with five consecutive victories to take the National Championship at 130-pounds. In her first two matchups, Nette won by technical superiority, 10-0, earning her way into the quarterfinals. When matched up against Julissa Taitano of Southern Oregon, Nette won by fall to advance to the semifinals. In Nette's semifinal matchup, her opponent Lauren Mason of Simon Fraser University was the first wrestler of the tournament to score any technical points on her. Despite Mason's 4 points, Nette cruised to another 14-4 victory to win by another technical superiority. The championship bout saw Nette with another 12-2 win by technical superiority over Brenda Reyna of McKendree University.
Narrowly missing out on National Champion honors were freshman Angelina Gomez and Kaylee Seabolt, and sophomore Felicity Bryant all finishing 2nd place in their respective weight classes.
Angelina Gomez won three straight matches by points starting with a 10-6 win over Faye Cherrier of Life University, followed by an 8-5 win over Nina Pham of Wayland Baptist University, and finally a 10-8 win over Junnette Caldera of the University of Jamestown. When pitted against Asia Ray of Wayland Baptist University for the 101-pound championship bout, Gomez was outscored 4-2.
Kaylee Seabolt went on a three-match run of back to back victories by fall over Sara Aguilar of Menlo College, Brandy Lowe of McKendree University, and Serena Woldring of Simon Fraser University before facing Destane Garrick of McKendree University for the 191-pound championship. There, Seabolt was outscored, 10-5.
Felicity Bryant started her run towards the championship with a win by fall against Chloe Rogers of Simon Fraser University. She followed that up with a narrow 4-3 victory over Margaret Douma of Oklahoma City University. Bryant's quarterfinal and semifinal bouts saw two more wins by points before a final matchup against Jayden Laurent of Lakeland University resulted in a technical superiority loss for the 143-pound championship.
Sophomore Kayla Marano and Senior Hannah Gladden both claimed 4th place finishes after reaching the semifinals. In the 136-pound weight class, Marano defeated Paige Cook of Gannon University by fall followed by a win by technical superiority over Akina Yamada of Waldorf University. In the quarterfinal match, Marano topped Abnelis Yambo of Brewton-Parker College with a 10-9 victory. Marano's run was finally cut short in the semifinal round with a loss by technical superiority to Solin Piearcy of Menlo College.
Hannah Gladden's trail consisted of three wins by technical superiority over Myranda Velazquez of the University of Jamestown, Yulissa Medrano-Iagunas of Missouri Baptist University, and Anna Naylor of the University of the Cumberlands. A narrow 5-3 loss to Alexandria Glaude of McKendree University landed Gladden with a 4th place finish in the 155-pound weight class.
Rounding out the top performers was Freshman Kasey Baynon who took 7th place in the 116-pound weight class. Baynon won by technical superiority over Autumn Potkay of Ferrum University and Elena Hughes of Campbellsville University before falling to Gracie Figueroa of Menlo College in the quarterfinals in the same fashion.

Readers Mail… Demetra George Mustafaoglu
Dear Family and Friends in Cyprus,
We are alive and presently well and kicking in Los Angeles as we await the birth of our 4th grandchild Altan on Friday the 20th March and are participating in social distancing and quarantining at home much like most of you.
Fortunately a friend tipped me off about the outbreak in China early on so we decided to stock up on supplies in early February, all which could also be useful in the event of one of our California earthquakes.
We didn’t have to fight anyone off for toilet paper, hand sanitizers, alcohol or disinfectants. We loaded up for 3 months of lockdown and purchased TP, canned meats, vegetables, fruit and plenty of rice and pasta. Of course we have our stash of Cyprus Raki and Anglia Brandy for those crazy days or special celebrations!
After 45 years of marriage, busy careers and raising our daughters Devran and Deniz, we thought it would be great to be alone again BUT, that didn’t last long! Both daughters needed help with childcare due to closures so they could continue working from home and with preschool, gymnastics, library and swimming all cancelled, we fit the bill to fill in for a while.
Mehmet and Asena
Mehmet and Destan
Memet with Asena Mehmet with Destan
Our fearless fool Trump and his minions who don’t believe in science got caught with their pants down and though they continued to lie to the American public and tried to pray away the Coronavirus in the US, it is here and out of control. Our stock market is 6 feet under, businesses are shuttered, my concerts all cancelled, there are very few testing kits available nor enough hospital beds, not ample protective gear for medical personnel, no idea how many are infected and walking about, and there is probably more fear of the unknown than panic just now.
Asena and Tristan
We are driving between homes of our children to share our time and knowledge, music and language skills with the grand babies. Tristan, 2 is counting to 10 and nouns in Turkish, Spanish, Farsi and English nonstop. Asena, 21 months is singing the Laughing Song from Die Fledermaus on pitch and counts in Turkish and sings Frozen 2. Six month old Destan has just found his voice and is competing with his sister for attention! So you see we don’t have much time to worry. Too busy planning routines for our family.
Trying to keep up with Cyprus news but also family and friends in England, Spain, Italy, the Middle East and their heartbeat. Hearing that Americans returning from abroad weren’t tested or temperatures taken is alarming and just plain negligent. Also seeing thousands of youth cavorting on Florida beaches during Spring Break is absolutely shocking after seeing millennials on ventilators in Italy and being told the cemeteries are closed due to lack of burial space! Stay home please!
So here we wait in hopes of flattening the curve while the novices in DC attempt to dig themselves out from under their lie that the news of the Coronavirus was a Democratic Party hoax perpetrated to bring down Trump’s re-ejection. We pray for a miracle like the rest of the world. And a change in our LEADER.
With love Mimi D and Mehmet Dede
