For my final project, my group has chosen monetization, specifically when it comes to monetization on social platforms. My focus is on monetization through sponsored content and brand deals, where many strategies can benefit both influencers and brands. For influencers, brand deals can provide a primary income source, which allows them to turn their content creation into a full-time career. Influencers build trust and relationships with their audiences/followers, and when they partner with brands that align with their own values as well as audience interests, the sponsored content feels more genuine and organic. This authenticity can lead to higher engagement rates, where followers are more likely to trust and purchase the products or services being promoted by their favourite influencer(s). Influencers can also monetize in various ways, including flat fees, commissions, affiliate marketing, or free products, depending on their reach and audience engagement.
For brands, sponsored content is also an effective method to reach targeted demographics. With the growth of social media, traditional advertising methods like TV commercials are becoming less effective, especially among younger audiences who spend more time on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Partnering with influencers gives brands direct access to various niche markets, as influencers curate content for specific interests and communities. These collaborations also offer an opportunity for brands to create personalized marketing campaigns with a human touch. Sponsored content is relatively cost-effective compared to traditional forms of advertising, and brands can track their return on investment (ROI) through different metrics such as clicks, likes, shares, as well as conversions.
In conclusion, brand deals help create long-term relationships between companies and influencers. These partnerships can often lead to ongoing collaborations, boosting brand loyalty and recognition. Consumers view products recommended by their favourite influencers as more trustworthy, driving purchase decisions. The combination of targeted outreach, engagement, and the influencer’s credibility results in a powerful monetization cycle, where both influencers and brands profit from their respective platforms and audiences.

Why I turned down a global brand 😓 Correction: They ghosted me after I called them out on their BS contract. I was ecstatic when this major brand reached out to partner. I seriously couldn’t believe I was going to work with such a huge company that I love and use often. I felt like I had “made it”. We agreed upon a price and deliverables and they sent me over the contract. I read it over and my stomach sank. I had never seen a contract like that before. They basically wanted me to sign my life away and they certainly were not going to pay enough for it. Although I clearly knew they were taking advantage of me, it still took a lot of guts to stick up for myself. -“What if I say something and they don’t want to work with me anymore.” -“What if I blow my chances forever.” -“But it would look so great to have on my media kit.” -“If I work with a brand like this, people will know I’m legit.” Thankfully, I did not let these fears stop me. I sent them an email back with everything I wanted changed and the additional payments I would need to receive. Crickets. And I’m okay with that. I stuck with my morals and didn’t let them take advantage of me or my services. It’s time like these that I am so happy that I do not rely solely on brand deals. I am grateful that have I built other sources of income that allow me to be super picky about the brands and companies I work with. I would like to say that 'performative' posting about Palestine doesn't exist. These celebs/influencers at most gain brownie points with fans, but the way even posting about Palestine makes them lose sponsorships and branddeals is crazy and even influences literal A-listers. They have more to lose than to gain, which I why I will always have respect for the ones that did post, even if I find them disingenuous, I just try to remind myself that they have no real personal gain in the matter.
EXACTLY, this was what I was trying to get at with kelly (guys, still don't support her. She's a pedo) like she was getting death threats, and im pretty sure she mentioned how she lost brand deals bc of it! I rlly don't think she had the wrong intentions, but if that's what any of u believe then. Idk. I'm too tired to convince u otherwise.

It’s actually so 🙄 to apply that logic when Wooga has been so public about having a friendship ring. Also.. with the amount of branddeals going around amongst celebs, you cannot take these things seriously.
There’s ofcourse exceptions, real couples do also have couple rings and they do share clothing probably. But that exists within the reality of their relationship and taking only the sharing of jewelry as evidence is naive.
An exception I make, is the Sweatheart shirts both Tae and Jk wore. I believe Tae would have known Jk planned to wear that in his mv, and him wearing that shirt was because of that and an outright statement of his connection to Jk.

I'm not even going to start with her use of Palestine to try and boost her engagement right before she has to post and ad. //
I honestly don't even know where to start with this one.. but like i do want to ask why this person thinks posting about Palestine is good for engagement in any way shape or form?? It's public knowledge that many brands dropped branddeals with influencers that showed support for Palestine.
I'm not even saying this cause I'm a kelly fan, but I'm starting to see this "posting about Palestine for fame" more and more and I just want to say that posting about it does influencers 0 favours in their line of work
I mean, it is the cause célèbre. While larger brands may have dropped collars with celebs for being outspoken about their stance, brands that Kelly tends to work with, that employ influencers of her size, are working with engagement figures and those posts massively boosted her engagement I bet.
She probably does use it for PR…but newsflash I think literally every celebrity does in one way or another. So many influencers and celebrities post the exact same infographics for all the popular causes as they come out so that they don’t get “cancelled” and sale don’t drop. Any celebrity that has interests that depend directly on consumers jumps on this kind of stuff.
I disagree that it harms their prospects. If it did, they wouldn’t do it, their agents and managers would advise against it. None of them care enough to lose money over it. Those that have “lost” money over it know it’s temporary or are established enough that they’ve costed it up and know it is not going to end their careers, or will pay off ultimately in terms of positive publicity once the dust settles and everyone moves onto the next cause and they will still be famously known as a “good person”.

Loving OFTS!! But i feel like the spicy scenes between the fixed pairs (FK,FB) wont be as intense or show either one as a top/bottom as it might mean they can’t “go back” to traditional bl shows or might loose brand deals. Whereas neo and mark aren’t fixed so can be really graphic in this series but when paired with someone else for a less 18+ bl it wont matter as much, like mark in TWE and MSP. Also convinced mew/top wont have sex at all but might with other people. But i’m still loving the show and praising it for showing queer sex and lives.
I don't know if the level of spice is connected to the fixed status of the couples lol but maybe? I guess the fixed pairs have their reputations, they're more in the spotlight, are depicted & received as more innocent and are also bound to branddeals etc. so maybe that's why they're being more careful with them?
And it's true that the couples who are acting together in 1 or 2 gigs only seem to have less boundaries lol like if I think back to Fluke and Thor in TWE,,,, yeah. they went above and beyond and then completely vanished lmao. same with some of the couples in FriendZone back in the day and also PS. I Hate You. But I have no idea how these things work and what kind of guidelines they have, all I remember is Jojo saying GMMTV greenlit him to go wild with the show lmao but yeah. whatever that means.

do you think tn had anything to do with contracts? jn didn’t resign an individual one with yg and tae’s brand deals seem to be entirely separate from bh’s involvement

Mmm, well I don’t know about Tae’s branddeals not going through BH. Unless Tae has a separate manager outside of BH to arrange his branddeals I think those are still arranged by BH management. But I have no clue whether he does.
I mostly feel Taennie was for Jennie’s benefit, because of her series and she possibly expected/wanted it to help her break through as an actress. Taennie looks big because the whole rumor-pic-dropping thing took place over almost two years.. if you count from the insta follow.. but I think Tae’s actual involvement (and the contract it cane with) was actually pretty small (only the Paris walk and perhaps some small agreements in how to carry on). So Tae’s part was small. I think it was in part to establish some sort of cover for his queerness. This is basically enough for people to go ‘he likes women’ for the upcoming ten years or so. It’s not so much because of him and Jk imo, but more for his own image (the liking women part). It’s possible he was advised to do this by BH. That it would benefit him in some way and they probably had their reasons for it as well. The obvious reason would be his queerness, but you never know what goes around behind the company scenes and it’s possible BH and YG concocted this for reasons that have nothing to do with BTS even. We will never know.
The whole Bp situation still is odd to me and I am convinced they used Taenie to divert from some situations.

his manager gets a hold of him in between moments of filming. today, he’s park saeroyi, the boy with a heart of gold that he plants right in the dead-center of itaewon. in midst of shooting break, he’s still kim taejin. a bit erratic and slightly rational to his words, he’s gaining his own quick breaths to unravel away from the role and step back into kim taejin the human.
he flicks a look at his manager, eyes casted towards an all too familiar expression he reads with his eyes closed. there’s silence, and there’s hesitation — context clues lead him to the general notion of negativity. but he knows better than to shoot the messenger head on. instead, he motions his fingers before weaving it across his chest. a few taps of his feet — and now he just wants to hear everything head on. filter free. void of the baggage that comes from packaging it nicely. 
“what does bc want me to do now?” he knows, it’s only ever bc that becomes the puppeteer to the strings around his back. one ploy after another, one step after another. it’s all calculated movements that fall into one target — the public chants and cheers putting him on a pedestal he knows to be a facade for what he truly is behind closed doors.
“they signed you up for another brand deal.” 
“what? what’s the cause of the uneasy look on your face?” taejin raises a brow, fingers cascading in small taps on an armrest — it’s a brace for the worst.
“joeun neukkim. you know?” there’s a grimace on his manager’s face, eyes shut so fast that he can sense the secondhand discomfort that slides into frame. a forced production, and taejin stands there eyes open and mouth agape.
he hold steady in the pose, recollecting the thoughts that leave his mind slated and blank. “a pad brand? why would they have me advertising that shit?”
it’s the crudeness that falls into his vernacular. the usual poise of a put together man edged with the professionalism he’s renowned for. it shatters at that one sentence, and he’s left hanging inside a limbo — disbelief settling into his bones.
“boyfriend. charms. they want you to be the imaginary boyfriend scenario in the set of commercials, making every person watching feel like they’re on a date with you. your target demographic is females between the ages of 17-40. there’s a reason they want you to sell these products.”
he smacks his lips together — call it an influence. he’s never once had his way to fight the skew of logic and data facts. one fight against this deal becomes an impending lawsuit and a forced ‘hiatus’ that lures him away from the title of shiny new roles. 
it’s a do or be punished.
twelve years, and he knows the former to be the only choice out.
