✏️Artist of the Day: @thecaroliner - “I was experimenting with new styles and came up with a simple, lineless style. There’s not a ton of detail but I liked the way the colors popped and thought it fit! I based the drawing off of the graphic novel trilogy “North and South”. Aang previously mentioned wanting to go penguin sledding when they returned to the Southern Water tribe.” Beyond Bending Podcast - “This piece by Caroline is SO cute!!! There’s something very heartwarming and tragic about this scene from the pilot episode. You have Katara telling Aang that she hasn’t done this (penguin sledding) since she was a kid and Aang telling her that she still is a kid...It’s tragic because Katara doesn’t see herself as a kid anymore even though she’s 14. She’s had to pick up the responsibilities of motherhood after the horrible murder of her mother by the fire nation. It’s heartwarming to watch Aang come into her life and restore this sense of childhood and joy in her. The psychological ramifications of not doing so would have been catastrophic.
