THINGS YOUR MOTHER SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU
1. Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.
2. Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!
3. Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.
4. Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.
5. To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.
6. For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.
7. Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.
8. Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!
9. Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.
10. Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.
11. Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.
12. Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
13. Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go. Cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.
14. Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.
15. No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.
16. Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.
17. Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.
18. Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and ... guess what! ... static is gone.
19. Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out. (Or spray the measuring cup or spoon with Pam before using)
20. Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!
21. Re-opening envelopes
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.
22. Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.

23. Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!
24. Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Jonny's Drum Machines with Dudu Tassa
A screenshot of Jonny from the Jarak Qaribak album teaser video.
After seeing Jonny play Dudu Tassa's super rare Fender "Nocaster", you might expect Jonny to use a drum machine even rarer than the old CR-78. In fact, his setup is surprisingly modern and super portable. It consists of a Roland T-8 beat machine and a Moog DFAM semi-modular drum synth. Both are units with "live" panel controls. Although the Roland has preset rhythms, the knobs on both units are hard-wired: what you see is what you get. That means any "automation" needs to be dialed in by hand.
The T-8 is designed to be a portable "best of" Roland rhythm boxes, with digital emulations of the 808 kick, 606 snare, TB-303 monosynth, etc. Regardless of the technology, the kick and snare at the start of Ya Mughir al-Ghazala certainly have that "Roland' sound. Given the borrowed guitar, it seems that Jonny didn't want to travel with a bunch of gear for this project. The T-8 is certainly much smaller than the vintage TR-909 that Jonny uses with Radiohead, let alone his modular. It's easy to imagine Jonny working out some of the beats on the T-8 during his flight over.
The T-8 has a few patch points for sync, mixing, headphones, and MIDI. On both Ya Mughir al-Ghazala and Taq ou Dub, Jonny has a yellow patch cable from the "Sync Out" on the Roland to the "Adv / Clock" input on the Moog, allowing him to use the Roland as his main clock. That's convenient since the T-8 has a BPM display. Jonny also uses the mix/headphone out to send his signal to the mixer (via one of the many blue DI boxes). He's not using the MIDI input on the Roland, which means he's in full control of tempo for the group whenever he uses the drum boxes.
As you might expect from a semi-modular, the DFAM is more flexible than the Roland in the range of sounds it can create. There's a patch cable routed from what looks to be the "VCO 1" output to "Velocity" input, adding some extra movement to the sound. Jonny devotes himself to the device on Taq ou Dub, only taking his hands off the device to play a few brief guitar arpeggios (and to adjust the Roland's hihat). It's worth noting that Jonny's DFAM is fitted with one of the "preset" overlays that come stock in the box with the unit. The youtube channel "Kilombo audio" made a demo of all the preset sounds, if you want to guess which overlays Jonny might be starting from.
In this screenshot from Taq ou Dub, the bend edge of an overlay on the DFAM is clearly visible.
Jonny adjusting the "VCA Decay" control during Taq ou Dub. Not the blue patch cable connecting the DFAM's "VCO 1" output to "Velocity" input — that's one way to add some automation.

Bake Me Happy (100% freshly baked goods)
Bakery
Who are we and what we provide ?
Bake Me Happy is awarded as the “best” bakery as it is subjective and can depend on personal preferences. However, I can suggest some well-known and highly regarded bakeries from around the world that have gained popularity for their delicious baked goods:
1. We are famous for the Cronut, a croissant-doughnut pastry.
2. Renowned for our exquisite macarons and pastries.
3. Known for our high-quality pastries and desserts.
4. Recognized for our artisanal bread and delectable pastries.
5. Popular for our exceptional bread, pastries, and morning buns.
6. Famous for our giant, gooey chocolate chip cookies.
7. Known for our artisanal bread and delicious pastries.
8. A historic bakery known for our organic bread.
9. Recognized for our Japanese-inspired pastries and cakes.
How Our Bakery Works ?
Our bakery operates as a food production facility specializing in the creation of various baked goods. Here’s an overview of how our bakery works:
Ingredients Procurement: Bakeries source ingredients from various suppliers. These ingredients can include flour, sugar, eggs, butter, yeast, flavorings, and more. The quality of ingredients often influences the quality of the final product.
Preparation: Bakers follow recipes to mix ingredients together in precise quantities. Depending on the type of baked goods being produced, this process may involve mixing dough or batter, proofing yeast, and preparing fillings or toppings.
Bake Me Happy loves Baking: Once the dough or batter is prepared, it is shaped according to the desired final product. This could involve shaping loaves of bread, forming rolls, or portioning cookie dough onto baking sheets. The shaped dough or batter is then placed into ovens for baking.
Bake Me Happy prefers Quality Control: Throughout the baking process, bakers monitor the products to ensure they are cooking properly and evenly. They may adjust oven temperatures or baking times as needed to achieve the desired results. Quality control also involves inspecting finished products for consistency, texture, and taste.
Cooling and Finishing: After baking, the products are removed from the oven and allowed to cool. Once cooled to the appropriate temperature, finishing touches may be applied, such as icing, glazing, or decorating.
Bake Me Happy prioritize Packaging: Once the baked goods are finished and cooled, they are typically packaged for sale. This could involve placing items in bags, boxes, or other containers, and labeling them with product information and pricing.
Display and Sale: Packaged goods are then displayed for customers to purchase. Bakeries may operate storefronts, sell at farmers’ markets or festivals, or distribute their products to grocery stores or restaurants. Presentation and display play a crucial role in attracting customers and encouraging sales.
Bake Me Happy prefers Cleanup as well as Maintenance: At the end of the day, the bakery must be cleaned and sanitized to maintain food safety standards. Equipment such as ovens, mixers, and countertops must be thoroughly cleaned to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a hygienic environment for the next day’s production.
Inventory Management and Replenishment: Bakeries must manage their inventory of ingredients and finished products to ensure they have enough supplies to meet demand without overstocking. This involves tracking sales, forecasting demand, and ordering ingredients and packaging materials as needed.
Bake Me Happy prefers Customer Service and Feedback: Providing excellent customer service is essential for building and maintaining a loyal customer base. Bakeries may interact with customers in person, over the phone, or through online channels. Feedback from customers is valuable for identifying areas of improvement and developing new products to meet evolving tastes and preferences.
Overall, we are running a successful bakery requires careful attention to detail, a passion for baking, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
What makes us Unique ?
We are unique for a variety of reasons, often stemming from its products, atmosphere, customer service, or ethos. Here are some factors that can contribute to making our bakery stand out:
Bake Me Happy uses Specialty Products: Many bakeries differentiate themselves by offering unique or specialty baked goods that set them apart from competitors. This could include signature pastries, artisanal bread, custom cakes, or gluten-free and vegan options.

Yes. When we were kids, we had to improvise. Obviously, as a pre teen in the early 1980's, I loved music, but a real DJ setup wasn't even in the dream stage yet. I had the Panasonic turntable for the receiver, coupled with another early 70's monstrosity, but no mixer. I hoked up one channel from each turntable into the phono input and used the balance control as a sort of fader. Hehe! Since the 8 track didn't record, I saved my mixes by placing an Akai boom box with built in mics to record. The sound was horrendous. There was no pitch control, so, if just for a few beats the mix was on, it was a triumphant moment. Ah, memories!

7. Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic
Yummm!
9. Reheat Pizza Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.
10. Easy Deviled Eggs Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.
11. Expanding Frosting When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.
12. Reheating refrigerated bread To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
13. Newspaper weeds away Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go. Cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.
14. Broken Glass Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily. (NOTE - That’s what Wonder Bread is great for!)
15. No More Mosquitoes Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.
16. Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.
17. Flexible vacuum To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.
18. Reducing Static Cling Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and ... guess what! ... static is gone.
19. Measuring Cups Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water.
21. Re-opening envelopesIf you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.
22. Conditioner Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.
23. Goodbye Fruit Flies To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!
24. Get Rid of Ants Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!
25. Dryer Filter Even if you are very diligent about cleaning the lint filter in your dryer it still may be causing you a problem. If you use dryer sheets a waxy build up could be accumulating on the filter causing your dryer to over heat. The solution to this is to clean your filter with with a toothbrush and hot soapy water every 6 months.☆

Dengan menggunakan mixer 12 channel, Anda dapat lebih fleksibel dalam mengatur banyak sumber suara dan memastikan kualitas siaran tetap stabil.
Apa itu mute button pada audio mixer?

Month of Miracles Day 9 - Tradition
Find the prompt list here!
I’m mixing up the prompts a bit here because I had a plan for ‘Moments of Wonder’ that can’t happen until a little bit further on in the Hallmark AU. I was just gonna do the next prompt while I got a little bit ahead on the Hallmark ones since they tend to be longer, but...this one wouldn’t leave me alone and I didn’t have enough time today to do both. Honestly, I might not be able to keep up the one a day through the next week, but whatever I miss, I’ll catch up on Christmas week where we have some planned time off.
Hallmark Movie AU Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11 | Part 12 | Part 13 | Part 14 (end) | Read Month of Miracles on AO3
Marinette understood why her mother thought this trip would do her good, but the truth was that she felt at loose ends rattling around in Gina’s old-fashioned but large house, all alone. At home, there was always somewhere to pitch in, something that needed doing. Gina kept her life pretty streamlined, and when she was home, she delighted in fixing up anything that might be out of sorts in her home. Gina was just too efficient, so other than keeping her plants alive, which really wasn’t that difficult since Gina kept mostly hardy breeds that could survive being left under the care of a neighbor for weeks at a time, there just wasn’t much for Marinette to do.
Finally Marinette planted herself on the couch, set the TV to a channel covering the most recent fashion shows, and sat down to sketch. She’d have a lot of work to catch up on when she got home, so she might as well take advantage of some of this quiet time to get ahead.
She sketched a few basic silhouettes to warm up and get the juices flowing, but after that...nothing came. Every time she started a line, she quickly rubbed about it again. Stop editing yourself, she scolded. Just get it out, and you can fix it later.
It didn’t work. Everything she did felt wrong. Audrey’s complaints echoed in her mind. Too derivative, too pedestrian, where’s the art, Marinette? That’s why I hired you, and all you ever give me is this trash! Did I make a mistake bringing you on?
Did Audrey make a mistake? Marinette put down her sketchbook and pulled her knees up, wrapping her arms around them as she dropped her face against her legs, fighting down the tears that threatened to overwhelm her. She swallowed hard and tried to breathe.
Okay. So she couldn’t draw right now. That was okay. She’d do...something else.
She got up, leaving her sketchbook on the couch and the television on, and went into the kitchen. She started pulling out ingredients without conscious thought, the spiral in her mind continuing until she actually stood in front of the mixer, measuring cups in hand.
Marinette took a deep breath. She began measuring out ingredients, repeating the recipes in her head as she worked. This, at least, was something she could do. Nobody got all twisted up over cookies, after all.
Well. Except Audrey are you trying to destroy my figure you’re FIRED Bourgeois. Marinette pushed that thought aside. Rose would appreciate cookies, she was sure. Gina’s neighbors would too. Maybe even Sally...would it be insulting to take some to Sally? She tried to remember if she’d seen cookies for sale in the café, and finally gave up. She’d just make some, and figure out who could eat them later.
This was something she could do, and nobody could say she didn’t do it well, and that...that mattered to her right now. She could feel herself relaxing into the process, and she began to consider what she could make. Gina’s supplies weren’t as extensive as Tom’s, but there were still plenty of options to choose from…
Her first batch was in the oven, and she was making some simple Russian teacakes for a breather, when Gina’s old-fashioned doorbell rang.
Frowning, Marinette grabbed a towel from the oven and went to the door, wiping at least one hand as clean as she could get it before she opened it.
If she’d expected anything, it was a package delivery, or maybe even a neighbor stopping by with some cookies of their own—this seemed like the kind of place where that stuff happened.
On the doorstep stood a grey-haired woman with a bright smile, glasses that made her blue eyes look huge, feet well apart, and her hands solidly on her hips. Behind her stood Luka Couffaine, his lips pressed together in exasperation, propping up a large Christmas tree. He gave her a tight smile when her eyes flicked over him, but the woman in front of him had a presence that was impossible to ignore.
“Um,” Marinette said, smiling uncertainly. “Can I help you?”
The woman stuck out her hand. “Hello, lass. Marinette, isn’t it? Anarka Couffaine! Yer grandma be a friend of mine. When I heard you were keeping house for her while she’s away I thought we’d best be bringing over her tree!”
“Her tree?” Marinette asked, mystified. She glanced at Luka, and couldn’t help a smile when he mouthed I am so sorry at her over his...mother? Surely she must be his mother. Only a parent could put that look of embarrassed frustration on a grown man.
“Aye, Gina always gets a tree from us,” Anarka was saying. “Thought she wouldn’t be needing one this year since she’s gone. Hated to think of her not having one when she gets back, but it makes sense, no one here to take care of it and all. But since you’re here, all’s well. You can decorate it and have it ready for Gina when she comes home. She’s still planning t’be back for Christmas Day, aye?”
“Uh, yes,” Marinette said, reaching up to tug a pigtail and remembering just in time that she’d pinned up her hair, and that her hands were still dusted with flour despite the wiping. “She and my parents and all were supposed to meet back here for Christmas Eve, so I guess—but I don’t know if—”
“Ah, that’s what I thought,” Anarka burst out cheerfully. “She’ll definitely be wanting her tree, then. No worries, lass, we know where everything is. We won’t be in your way but for a moment.”
She didn’t push past Marinette, but it was clear she intended to move forward, and Marinette backed out of the doorway on instinct.
Luka gave her a kill me now look as he hoisted the tree and followed his mother. Marinette giggled in spite of herself, and closed the door behind them.
True to her word, Anarka knew exactly where to find Gina’s Christmas tree things, and ordered her son around with a brusqueness that left no room for argument or debate. Marinette hovered, a bit at a loss for what to do. She wondered if she should go change into clean clothes, but Anarka said they weren’t staying long, and she still wasn’t done in the kitchen—
The oven timer chimed, and she automatically turned to tend to it. She hesitated in the door to the kitchen for just a moment, but Luka was half under the tree, getting it adjusted in the stand while Anarka barked orders. Neither was paying any attention to her, and even if she wasn’t cooking for anyone in particular, she couldn’t stand to let perfectly good cookies burn for no good reason.
She’d just gotten everything settled when Anarka’s booming voice behind her made her jump. “I’ve got to run, lass, but Luka can finish getting things set up. I’ve already told him what to do and where to put everything. We left the box of decorations out for ye, so ye can get things all nice for when Gina comes home. I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other again, so, goodbye for now. Don’t forget to check the water in the tree every day!”
Marinette didn’t even have time to answer before Anarka was seeing herself out.
As soon as the door banged closed behind Anarka, Luka made a beeline for the kitchen. Hands against the doorframe, he leaned in. “Hey.”
Marinette turned to look at him from where she stood rolling some kind of round cookie in powdered sugar. “I swear I tried to talk her out of it,” he told her, ears burning. “I’d have had more success wrestling a bear.”
Marinette laughed, blushing, and Luka couldn’t help his grin. She looked adorable, with her hair pinned up and her sleeves pushed up to her elbows, flour streaking the red and green, frilled apron she wore. “I can imagine,” she replied, placing the sugar-coated ball carefully on a pile of others already in a dish on the counter. “She seems like someone it’s hard to say no to.”
Luka shrugged. “That’s my mom.” They looked at each other for a moment, Luka thinking about what a sweet picture she made and her thinking—probably that he was completely weird, standing here staring at her. “Anyway,” he said hastily, pushing himself back upright, “I’ll get this finished up and get out of your hair. I just wanted to say I’m really sorry and I had nothing to do with this...whatever this is.”
Marinette giggled. “It’s fine.” Her shoulders came down a little, and Luka gave her one more grin before he went back to setting up the tree. He was starting, he reflected ruefully, to have some dangerous if only thoughts. If only they’d met sooner, if only she weren’t leaving in a couple of weeks...
If only the people in his life weren’t so damn pushy, so that he wasn’t sure how much of the attraction he felt was sincere or mutual. If only he could be sure he wasn’t seeing things because Rose put the idea in his head.
Luka wasn’t sure what had put his mother on the scent. It was, just barely, possible that her motives were exactly what she said they were. Gina did buy a tree from them every year, and since they were friends it was usually more of a visit than a delivery, and Anarka had more than once hauled Luka out to help set the thing up when he was home.
Luka doubted it though. Either Rose had blabbed, or someone else had. Sally, maybe, who might have seen him holding her hand at the café, or maybe one of the townspeople who had seen them say goodbye outside afterwards, smiling and friendly. Marinette blushed so easily, and he did find her extremely pretty. it might have been easy for someone to get the wrong idea.
The television was on, but Luka hadn’t paid any attention to it until Marinette’s name caught his ear. He looked up, and saw a good-looking blonde man on screen, waving to the crowd before he turned to help a lady out of the limo he’d just exited. There was a smaller picture of Marinette on the arm of the same handsome blond in the corner.
Luka put it together with what Marinette had told him at the café, and pressed his lips together, irrationally angry at the man. Clearly he has a type, Luka thought sourly, looking at the new woman on his arm as the couple proceeded down the red carpet. Luka glanced back at the kitchen, and then walked over and turned the television off. Marinette didn’t seem like she was watching it, and she certainly didn’t need to see something like that by accident.
He finished up, making sure to clean up after himself as best he could, stacking the boxes that had held Gina’s things neatly where his mother had found them. Conveniently there was a broom in the same closet, so he was able to sweep up the needles he’d inevitably tracked all over the house.
He put the broom back, and went back to find Marinette. Whatever she was making smelled amazing. Luka paused in the kitchen doorway. Marinette was concentrating hard, piping icing onto cookies laid out in front of her. Even focused as she was, he couldn’t help but note that she looked more content than he’d ever seen her, smiling and at peace, humming softly to herself. She leaned back to study what she’d done, and the humming turned to singing.
Luka took a quick step back and turned, putting his back to the wall next to the door, one hand going to clutch at his heart as it suddenly decided to gallop away.
She was singing one of his songs.
So she’s a fan, he scolded himself. I knew that. And why should he care? By the end, Luke Stone had been almost an entirely separate entity from himself. An illusion created to sell music, not a real person.
Except Luke Stone still played Luka Couffaine’s music. And it was one thing to know Luke Stone had fans, to see them screaming in a crowd or throwing themselves at the security ropes to get to him, but...it was entirely different to hear sweet, sincere Marinette, thoughtlessly humming Luka’s songs just because she was happy and she enjoyed them. It was what he’d always wanted, wasn’t it? To know that people appreciated the music, and not just the image. It was no wonder his pulse was racing.
Luka sighed and closed his eyes. I’m in trouble, he admitted to himself.

Hi your gifs are amazing and as someone who wants to start making gifs, any advice how to color, bnw , sharps and smooths, add text to gifs?
{ warning: long }
this is the tutorial i used to learn how to make hd gifs (more useful links at the bottom of that post). i highly recommend you use it, it’s a lot for a beginner (i’d already known how to gif) so feel free to ask about any specifics!
sharpening & smoothing
so generic sharpening & smoothing is using smart sharpen+gaussian blur but if you want your gifs absolutely smooth and grainless, i highly recommend topaz denoise: how i downloaded it | my settings
it does take more time as it parses every frame which is why it’s so great but some don’t have the patience/good enough graphics card for it but it’s a game changer for sure
avisynth also slightly sharpens when it resizes but it’s not absolutely necessary to use unless you plan to gif live performances, in which case you’d need it to deinterlace .ts files so you can make 60fps gifs (the really nice flowy shit) instead of the usual 30fps
(avs/topaz are for pc, the mac equivalent is vapoursynth and comes with denoising and sharpening filters so you wouldn’t need topaz)
how i color
disclaimer: i learned to color by just putting on an adjustment layer, messing with the settings, and keeping it if i liked it and deleting it if not asjdflajsf i don’t have a great eye for color so what i think looks good probably looks super amateur to an experienced gifmaker alkfdjafdk BUT. these are the layers i always use:
first is curves (except on the rare occasion when the video’s too bright):
i drag the center a little to the left until it’s just shy of too bright. there’s lots more you can do with curves but this is all i know alsjflsakdf
next is levels:
i increase the leftmost box to bring the darks back down. basically what i want to achieve with curves & levels is brightening the lights while darkening or maintaining the darks
i didn’t use curves for this gif but you get the idea, the 1st half is the before and the 2nd half is the after:
next is color balance:
i adjust lighting here. it’s personal preference. i used to make my gifs cool toned but now i love warm tones and i also like giving skin that glow from within look so i do that here
next is selective color:
i use this layer to get rid of colors, change colors, tone down colors, etc. for a more cohesive look. for example, yellow’s one of my least favorite colors so i always try to get rid of or change it. do drastic changes or keep the original colors since again, it’s personal preference so do what you like
also, too many colors adds grain to your gifs so keep that in mind
***important: be sure not to remove all the yellow from their skin and not put it back somewhere else since it is a form of whitewashing
next is channel mixer:
i decrease all the channels’ respective color by 10 (so the red in the red channel, green in the green, blue in the blue). it tones everything down a bit. i used to like vibrant gifs but now i really love that muted look but i don’t know how gifmakers achieve it so this is my attempt haha
i don’t always use this layer, only if the gif looks better with it
finally is exposure: SO IMPORTANT!!!
maybe not anymore since the size limit was increased from 3mb to 8-ish but lowering the offset in this layer is a great way to lower the file size: tute here
there’s also cranking up vibrance for washed out videos, photo filter for major lighting corrections, brightness/contrast, and more that i use for special circumstances but the 6 above are the foundation of all my (basic af) colorings
black & white
oh jeez, i don’t know if what i do is ‘right’ but i just aim for higher contrast. my goal when giffing is always to make it feel as if they’re right in front of you
adding text
here’s a great tutorial, again let me know if you’re confused about anything. my settings, adjust font/font size/stroke width/drop shadow to your liking
#i wanted to get this out asap so i'll still be editing here and there!!#pls pls pls don't hesitate to ask me to clear something up or go into more detail!!#i decided not to add screenshots of the adjustment layers since this is already absurdly long but i can if you want!!#ask#anon#gif qs

COVIDIOTS!
Yeah they're everywhere. Seriously though, I never thought when I was making jokes about it a few months back that it would end up as much a clusterfuck as it has. Over a million cases in the US? Over 50,000 dead there too? The school were I "work" is still closed, leaving us scrambling to come up with online stuff for the kids (hey, Japan may be really good at MAKING high-tech shit, but holy fuck on a stick are they not good at USING it). Anyway. On with the shit-show!
The latest addition to the ever-growing MFB family here. Strange little beast. Pretty big sounding for as little as it is. Mod1 in the filter section can give you FM via VCO or the typical filter sweeps via LFO. Setting the Sub OSC to Mix also spices things up considerably. I have yet to run the LFO out to the VCF In or Gate In, and I'm sure either of those will be fun things to try. How many monosynths does a person need though? Um, about that.
Yeah. First Doepfer I've owned. Dark Energy, first model. Mint condition with the box and manual. Not the cheapest thing, but I decided to put the Lyra-8 I built up on the auction so if it sells it'll make up for it and then some. If it sells... Cross your fingers. Talk about counting chickens before the eggs hatch. Anyway the Dark Energy is Very Fucking Cool. Standout features? Well first of all there are two LFOs, which is fantastic. And there are two FM sources in the filter section: Linear FM and XFM (exponential FM). FM in the VCO section as well. Also, it looks like it has only one oscillator, but there is a second one that can do triangle, sawtooth, and pulse with variable pulse width and PWM. It's got a shitload of flexibility, like selectable LFO ranges, and high/medium/low ADSR range too. And then there are the patch points... It almost gives the Kraftzwerg a run for the money. ALMOST. 3 VCOs and patch points ain't no joke. Even so, this little thing is very, very cool. Sounds YUUUUUUUGE too. I am finding myself eyeballing the Polivoks more and more these days, wondering if I will find it a new home...
Broke out this old ghost today for some fun and games. Using a 3-minute TDK endless cassette with a 3-minute long slice of audio from Michael Moore talking about feedback from his latest one, Planet of the Humans (I think it's more Jeff Gibbs than Moore but still). Interesting film, that. I wonder how much of it can be believed. Some poignant points raised, no doubt about it, but I wonder how much of it is being presented through the lens of a certain agenda. Anyway, I used the audio in this:
youtube
So today would've been the 10th Anniversary Showa Techno event, but current social situations what with the pandemic going on and all that (even though it isn't really being taken seriously by the majority of people, if the sheer number of motherfuckers I saw out and about while on my mid-morning run is an indication—I wore a mask, aaight?). But yeah no event, so I fooled around with some of the segments I had in mind to use at the show, and recorded a 25-minute live session. Seems the audio hiccups twice, once when I guess the screen saver came on, and again when I noticed and touched the magic pad to disable that shit. Next time I'll turn it bloody off. You can get more info in the video description. Fun stuff.
This is the current incarnation of the Lair of Nefarious Machinery. Things are getting a little bit out of hand. I discovered that the Aux 2 send on the mixer at top right is sending a bit of audio to the connected effects processor even when all channel sends are at zero, so that's super annoying. I thought about emailing Soundcraft and asking for repair advice as I quite like these mixers (I do have two of them after all) and losing an effects send is a big deal. No idea where to look to start troubleshooting. Don't have a schematic first of all. Any ideas? I'm all ears.
Well, that's all this time. Watch out for the Covidiots...
