So I had a busy day yesterday (especially considering I’ve got a kidney infection and a botoxless bladder)... I had dance class at 10am, then saw my palliative care nurse, then traveled home to mum and dad’s in Swansea. I decided to wear a dress that up until a month ago belonged to my mum. It’s literally one of my most favourite things of hers, that she’s ever worn. Partly cause she looks so pretty in it, partly cause I always remember her buying that dress in Kensington H&M (THE world’s best H&M!) during our family holidays to London for The Ty Hafan Butterfly Ball And Various Items On My Bucket List. I get a happy feeling when I remember that trip 😁💖 and the dress just embodies that happy glow. So basically, I’ve coveted that dress for seven years... and now it’s finally mine! And I just feel really good whenever I wear it. Bought this excellent t shirt from Primark last week (in fact, I bought two!) that I think was made for me... I am The Incurable Optimist, after all! Wore this to inspire myself to get through my Monday; Monday’s are very long days right now as I’m doing a chronic pain management course, tea with a friend, then guitar class, which means I’m non stop from 12pm til 9.30pm! And all with a botoxless and spasmy bladder 😢. But I got through the day like a boss 😎 admittedly with a fifteen minute power nap 😴😂! My darlings, I am trying very hard to be calm and cool about this recent development with my health... and I am actually succeeding! I have a kidney infection. I suspect it’s because when my botox in my bladder wears off, I tend to pee myself, like, a lot. This is not great for me, hygiene wise, and increases chances of infection. I’ve also been really struggling whilst catheterising because my bladder and urethra spasm too much for me to insert the catheter, and this has caused some trauma. I’ve felt a bit unwell for a few days, and in hindsight had a lot of the warning signs of a kidney infection; big dark circles under my eyes, difficulty sleeping despite feeling really tired, severe pain, sore joints, blistered skin, breathlessness, and bleeding... but I put these symptoms down to a combination of my botoxless bladder, a possible period, and eating gluten. Today however, I started experiencing tachycardia, nausea, a fever, and most notably, I’m peeing pus... yep, it’s gross 🙃! So it was obvious I had a kidney infection even before I peed on the dipstick, although that definitely confirmed it. Luckily, because we keep a stock of antibiotics at home for just these situations, I could ring the GP and hospice and start treatment immediately. I’m 3 doses in and feeling a tad better; the tachycardia has definitely reduced, at least. I’m mostly mad af because I’m going to the BAFTAS on Sunday; and I AM going!! At least I caught this early enough that I’ll hopefully be improved by Sunday. And yes, I’m still drinking on Sunday 😂! I’ll just drink lots of water, too! Absolutely wiped at the end of a busy, busy day. Didn’t go to yoga because I only had a limited number of Spoons (google The Spoon Theory), and I had quite a few errands to do before being stuck on bedrest all weekend. So I finally tackled that small mountain of clean laundry I’ve been ignoring for a week and put it all away, I packed my bag for B Day (Botox-in-my-bladder Day) tomorrow, and did my food shopping 🛒 oh, and in between all this I made the most of my last day of freedom until next week and enjoyed tea at my local pub. I really enjoyed my carvery 😍!! All this probably doesn’t sound like much, but it was a lot for a Botoxless and extremely spasm Amy to get done ✅ so yay me 👏🏻🎉! Now goodnight... I’m gonna try and go to sleep, cause the sooner today ends, the sooner tomorrow comes... and tomorrow I finally get my Botox in my bladder... YAY 👏🏻🎊🙌🏻🎉!! And yes, I know it’s not normal to be excited about an operation 😂 but I’m not, really... I’m excited that, I’m just four days, I’ll be the healthiest version of myself.
