I wished for a Bioshock movie for Y E A R S
but now that we're finally getting one I don't want it
I do not have faith this is going to be a good adaption, I'm sorry, maybe 10 years ago this could have been a great passion project (especially if Gore Verbinski had been involved like originally planned) but I just know it's going to be an over-actioned, improperly funded (since it's a Netflix production they're absolutely going to either dump too much or not enough money in it then write it off as a failure if it doesn't 'perform' well enough), CGI-laden slop fest that doesn't even acknowledge or properly handle half the themes present in the series.

I'm... kind of confused about this? Like Ignatz is basically saying the only way for people to move forward is by continuing to fight and destroy? That's a pretty awful message in general, but coming from Ignatz it just feels weird. It sounds like he's just accepted war and that it's just... something that happens so we should shrug it off and move on?
I know this game tends to have very strong pro-war/pro-invasion messages which is already really gross to me, but it went from being annoying and icky to just making me feel disgusted. Also, Ignatz of all people shouldn't just shrug his shoulders and be like well that's just the way of things, I guess! There's an active war going on so it makes sense that towns could be rebuilt and destroyed again. It doesn't mean just give up on it.
Also really doesn't feel like an Ignatz thing to say.

I was talking about this with someone but the argument of "x didn't deserve that" on media rings so hollow to me because well. Death and the atrocities inflicted on someone aren't a moral judgement. Discussing whether characters deserved to be punished or tortured or killed or have Bad inflicted on them isn't exactly going to lead anywhere—bad stuff happens to good people and good stuff happens to bad people always; discussing how we got there and what caused it and what purpose it serves (and what are the undertones on it) is a more productive conversation imo

It's important to have political and moral beliefs other than "America bad" because not doing anything beyond that is how you get white American """leftists""" becoming apologists for the Empire of Japan and... Fucking. Nazi Germany.

like this may just be me but it kinda raises more than a few alarm sirens for me if you know someone for "a few years" while they're a minor and you're an adult and 5-6 years their senior, and then you start dating them pretty much as soon as they turn 18
