Character analysis: Naruto vs Boruto’s forgiving natures
Tumblr media
Naruto is a kind person. But a lot of people interpret all of his actions to being foolishly kind, when Naruto really is just a traumatized & principled character that empathizes with people based off that.
Both are traumatized & principled, but have different traumas driving their actions.
Let’s examine Naruto first:
Tumblr media
Notice, Naruto does not decide to be understanding until he draws a connection between himself and his opponent being victims of child abuse. Naruto never tried to empathize with Orochimaru, Danzo or Madara, nor had much of a negative reaction to their demise at all. Naruto also knew all 3 of them had repeatedly committed the worst sin- abused children. His biggest trauma.
Naruto hasn’t been advocating for people to escape consequences, he wanted people to atone because he understood that they were traumatized as children & never got the guidance that saved Naruto from going down their exact path. He wasn’t rly being gullible (he had nothing to lose by the time he tried talk-no-jutsu lol), kind or even forgiving- he decided no matter how difficult to stick to his principles he learned from Jiraiya. To try to stop the cycle of hatred by having people atone rather than to punish them through revenge.
Tumblr media
Naruto’s biggest flaw though, is that he is overly blinded by his abandonment trauma- he feels he has to “save” people who went through child abuse like he did. He projects too much of his own feelings onto them- when they are their own people who won’t necessarily turn around as easily as Naruto did- which is why he lost his arm to sasuke who wouldn’t relent until beaten into submission. & (temporarily) lost his life to kawaki.
In psych terms, Naruto is trying to reinforce to himself that he was always worthy of being saved, which is what drives him to go as far as he does. It’s not really his kindness, or passion but his trauma is the way Naruto deeply connects to others.
Episode 10 of boruto NNG. This convo is not in the manga but it’s clear from the manga as well that this is how Naruto feels:
Tumblr media
This is why Naruto struggled so much to connect with Boruto. Boruto wasn’t an abused child- thats why it seemed Naruto didn’t “care” about Boruto and Himawari as much as Kawaki. His bio kids were the first people very close to him without significant trauma for him to build a relationship on. Hima was still pretty young, & not as outspoken as boruto, so we didnt see that dynamic as much with her.
Boruto is still early in his story & has a lot more to learn. So this is as of chapter 14 of TBV.
Boruto’s current analysis:
Boruto has spent his whole life building healthy connections unlike Naruto, yet seems to have the same desire to “save” even the most “irredeemable” people. There are 2 reasons why.
Tumblr media
Reason 1, For Boruto he is able to forgive kawaki because he understands that he’s not in a position to judge him. Boruto recognizes that he is a threat because of momoshiki, and blames & hates himself for everyone being endangered, not kawaki who is actually protecting them in his own twisted way. & now, feeling the pain of abandonment, he also empathizes with kawaki, thus forgiving him. This is how BORUTO sees it right now.
Tumblr media
He’s also trying to make the right choices he knows ADULT Naruto would make, but adult Naruto has confronted his self hatred & knows not to take or blame everything on himself. Boruto hasn’t learned that yet, he’s willing to accept help when it’s dire, but still believes the overall burden is his alone. He has also been mainly taught by Sasuke, who still hasn’t overcome his own self hatred as much as Naruto has & desire to handle everything alone.
*boruto has actually been struggling with self hatred since getting caught cheating, that’s why he irrationally hated all ninja tech- it’s from the shame of being exposed. Self hatred is a huge underlying part of his character I could expand on later; Im focusing on this comparison to Naruto here.
Boruto is blinded by his self hatred in the same way Naruto is blinded by his abandonment trauma. That’s why some of their actions seem so irrational, they are fueled by trauma. & These blind spots are where they both make their most costly mistakes.
Tumblr media
That’s why he naively defied Koji’s order to escape and instead released code. He knows from Naruto he can’t do everything alone, but he lacks the wisdom to understand when/how to apply it. He should’ve relied on Koji’s advice rather than trying to plan on his own which led to a huge mistake. Code is still loose.
Reason 2, Boruto’s will is to be shadow hokage. To bear burdens for the sake of the village and people he loves. Part of bearing the burden is swallowing your pride for the greater good, which he learned from Sasuke. He’s not being kind or forgiving by saving Code. He wanted to kill the shinju ASAP before they could evolve further and needed his help.
Tumblr media
Same with asking to train Kawaki. Kawaki’s fate is tied to both Naruto/Hinata, the EARTH & boruto’s fates. Outside of any emotional reasons, he literally cannot afford to let Kawaki die + kawaki’s unique abilities (shrinking claw marks particularly) are instrumental in defeating the shinju. & Especially now that the shinju are growing in number and in other villages, boruto cannot always be there to protect kawaki. Kawaki needs to get stronger fast for the sake of the planet.
I’m interested in the larger convo between boruto and kawaki and training him, but we’ll have to see once chapter 15 officially drops.

Friendly reminder these are feats Sarada was pulling at 11-12, this isnt something new or groundbreaking & definitely doesnt scale her to Otsutsuki. If that were the case then that'd make her stronger than B0ruto who had to flee from them 😑 which your crazy if you think she is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Chidori is not hard to dodge if you have the sharingan and reflexes to match it which Sarada does, why I bring this up is because yall were the same ppl who attacked me and anyone else who said she was more than capable of fending for herself against Kawaki both here & here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yall said he was too fast, that she would've died, and my favorite 'what did you expect her to do?'
I dunno, THIS?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dont even try to argue that base Kawaki without karma, and V1 karma Kawaki was stronger and faster than a 10 tails Rinnegan amped Sasuke.
Also just wanna point out yet another glaring power scaling flaw, which is why the hell is her chidori weaker than it was when she was 12? she grabbed a whole chunk outta Boro but 3 years later she just gives bee stings? Hidari should be missing part of his abdomen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the record heres the damage Chidori typically does if you think Im just nitpicking no, this is a literal power scaling flaw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dont get me wrong Im glad shes doing something, but she was always capable of doing this all along so its not really impressive but more of why'd it take yall so long to show her actually use her arsenal & fend for herself like she always could? where was this in 58? 78? 81? 82?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It took 4 years, 4 YEARS for her to do what shes always been able to do again, shes done this since Gaiden, Sasuke has done the same at 12, yet for 4 years all she did after Boro was stand there or cry and yall response was 'what could she do?' stfu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS is what she could do, if a 12 year old Sasuke could dodge a semi Kurama amped Naruto then Sarada can handle a base karmaless Kawaki and a V1 Karma Kawaki.
And before anyone mentions, the only reason Sasuke stopped being able to dodge is because Kurama had a mind of his own, he could predict Narutos movements and dodge accordingly but he couldn't predict Kuramas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now yall wanna gas when yall didnt even believe she could do THIS much, the bare damn minimum, DODGE, yall didnt even think she could do that but now all of a sudden when she does its this incredible feat? but I thought we were the haters for sayin she was always able to do this?
Isnt it ironic that the ones who were called haters are the ones who were saying Sarada was better than that, and the ones who were called 'real fans' were the ones saying she was too weak and slow to even dodge with her 3T sharingan? funny how that works.
See how fast ppl switch up and forget their own narratives they put out there. Be honest, you knew she was always capable of this, you just made excuses either because of a ship or because it made your goat look good.
I already know Im still gonna get branded a hater for literally saying she's always been this strong and capable of fending for herself, but Im not gonna pretend this is some impressive feat when it isn't, 3 years ago yea, but 3 years later? this SHOULD be light work for her now.
If next chapter we see some MS abilities then we can talk about impressive feats, but this? thats how I know yall didn't think much of her and still don't if you think this is a big moment just dodging an attack and doing a low damage chidori 🤦‍♀️
This is what yall clowned Naruto for when he came back in the timeskip still using his same arsenal he left with, so lets not pretend this is any different for Sarada, everything shes done in TBV so far she was doing in part 1, there's no difference YET but hopefully in 11 we'll finally see her growth, OR a dodge and chidori is all she gets and will immediately need saving now.
As long as Boruto stays outta the way then the odds are higher for her to actually hold her own, but if Boruto is coming back to the scene its game over for her so here's hoping his ass has to take a back seat the entire invasion so everyone else can actually do they thing without him draggin them down.
For context, what I mean by that is whenever Boruto is involved everybody else gets dragged down to make him look good by comparison, for example in 58, 78, 81, and 82 Sarada for some reason completely forgot how to move, dodge, react, or activate her own sharingan, but as soon as Boruto has to stay away hiding, suddenly she remembers she has the sharingan, reflexes to dodge, and defend herself. I used Sarada as the example but this is a problem with the entire cast not just her, but since this post is about her thats why I used her for reference, but everybody immediately got better as soon as Boruto was written out of the way.
I said it before and I'll say it again, HES the problem, not from any fault of his own, but because the writers cant seem to make him shine and stand out on his own without draggin everybody else down so he looks cool and badass by comparison, rather than him just standing out on his own merits.
Think about it, name one 'cool' or 'badass' moment he's had in the timeskip that hasn't been handed to him at someone else's expense
His win against Mitsuki came with Mitsuki was already wavering and feeling doubt and willing to die
His win against Code came after he just rescued Sarada who just stood there
His win against Kawaki came after he had spent the last 8 chapters being easily knocked out and knocked down
The entire invasion everybody was getting sneaked, caught off guard, barely holding their own, and needed saving, while Boruto was just casually beating Code and his grimes with zero effort.
Now? with Boruto removed? Inoshikacho holding their own against Jura and Hidari, the strongest two clones
Shikadai done restrained Jura and pulled his branches apart to free Himawari
Inojin saved Himawari and bought them time to get away from the village
Chocho pushed Jura out of the way to make his bijuu bomb miss and expanded herself when Inojins bird was hit to cushion everybodies fall.
Himawari awakens Kuramas power
Sarada remembers shes an Uchiha with the sharingan who can dodge and react accordingly
Kawaki got his brain back and prioritized Himawari's safety over hunting down Boruto.
The difference between when Boruto was involved and when he wasn't is night and day. Again its no fault of his own, but it seems like the writers cannot make Boruto shine without dragging everyone else down, and the only way everyone else will shine is if Boruto is FORCED outta the way.

About lastest TBV chapter(8)
Spoilers !
What a mess...
The one thing to be glad about is Mitsuki's character finally moving. Finally realizing things and not backpedaling(what happened in his arc pretty much) Is what I have been waiting for since 2019.
Some points of the chapter:
So people are jumping to the Mitsuki and Eida ship so fast that makes me think they are threatened by her curiosity about Boruto, so they want to take her out of the way. I thought that convo was very similar to the one Mitsuki had with Sumire in the novels. Sarada, Sumire, Eida, all these girls had once convo with Mitsuki about their feelings and the focus ends up being Boruto. Can you really call this a shipping moment of said characters when the person they elevate is another one?
Mitsuki blushing was very cute, I wish it was for Chouchou though, but we know they hate that, right?
About his feelings for Eida. Well, we know they are fake but even so he wanted to be thankful. And I think... Why is Mitsuki always thinking he isn't able to do or feel things on his own? Is it because of the "bliss" of ignorance? Because he is very humble? Or it's because of low self-esteem? Idk man, this series depresses me. If he really can't then give me a reason why this is the case, and not just "I'm artificially created"
I wouldn't mind friendship between Eida and Mitsuki, if anything I hope her powers render useless at some point so she can have a happy life too. But I cannot see them as a couple. I ship mitsucho ofc, but even if I take that aside for a second, it's the "feel" Eida gave off at the start that made me think she was a way mature woman. Knowing about what drinks she liked, talking about liking older men and how dreamy they were, about being monogamous. Which teenager talks like that? Even Delta sounds more bratty and youthfully and she is way older. Mitsuki, on the other hand, as mature he seems, is very innocent. IDK it feels wrong? Not even in the cute way of teaching someone less experienced about life. TBH this is also the reason Code Eida felt weird for me at first, but then they confirmed they both were the same age so I guess it's fine.
Loved that thumbs up Delta, it was so cute :_:
Mitsuki is almost the same height as Eida, does that mean he is shorty like Chouchou?... I mean it's not what I wanted but I find it cute too :___:
GOD, I just know Inojin is going to be humiliated when he said "I'm going to protect you"(Like the rest of Team 10). Why does this series insist on doing him this dirty??
Even so, he reassured Hima it would be alright. It was very cute. I found it funny people hated it as if Inojin was trying to flirt with her when they ignore their relationship in the anime and novels, where Inojin holds Himawari in high regard and respect despite her being younger. You could take that moment even as friendship if you don't like the ship. People are cringe.
I HAVE TO SEE THAT BUTTERFLY MODE PLEASE, and her lightning release...
I want to take a break from the series, not just say I'm gonna drop it. I'm... Tired. Not only the series make me sad about how dirty they made mitsucho as characters and as a ship, but also the fandom is what I cannot stand anymore. Whatever the end will be, I will have to accept it, but my mitsucho... I will sink with it all together if it doesn't happen. Love them together too much, not sorry.

Not trying to spoil to much with tbv chapter 10. Hinata's genetics is why her children are (unequivocally) so powerful!! Hinata specifically and not just any Hyuga.
I mean that is obvious Boruto's genius was attributed from Hinata's side and Himawari got the Byakugan from her as well and is a genius with it as well.

all I know is:
choza, iruka, shibi, tsume, ebisu and konoha ninja did more in the pain arc than boruto adults and the village is in the same circumstances if not worse since there were multiple pain paths aka multiple enemies. (they even did more in the war)
tbv might not be the worst for you, but it does indeed leave much to be desired and I don't think the bulk of characters per chapter is to blame.
from the pain arc konoha 12 sakura was the mvp as main character but also side characters did things. team 10 were doing something, shino was fighting with his dad, kiba fighting with his mom. we even got to see neji tenten and rock lee pov so we knew they were busy or their whereabouts.
I'm disappointed those kids grew up to do nothing as adults bc the writer lacks talent. the best was boruto movie and it was written by kishi so ghostwriter is making the adults washed up.
yes it's the new gen time but how does a village rely on kids? what happened to middle grounds?
Okay. Look I already said that I didn't have much more to say on the matter, so I'm not gonna add anything here.
