Glad to see someone else frustrated with the BORUTO show but still liking the Boruro kid, even after the cheating 'scandal'. I like him even though the fandom treats him like a scapegoat for everything wrong in the franchise.

I genuinely think Boruto is a good kid and I like him a lot. I don't know how you can blame him for everything. Obviously naruto was present in the life of his kids before becoming hokage and was a good dad, then he disappeared when he became hokage and boruto rightfully went: HEY!! THIS IS BULLSHIT!! and is the only person that seems to recognize how fucked up the situation is??? Bc he's emotionally intelligent and he deeply cares about people. He's a good person. He's got a big head bc he doesn't struggle with learning new things but he recognizes when he fucks up and apologizes.

The problem with Boruto the show isn't Boruto the boy. It's the fact that the writers don't seem to understand that they still haven't dealt with the naruto situation (letting naruto have catharsis and enact sweeping changes to the shinobi system).

The show should be about a new shinobi system dealing with an old problem/villian. How has have you changed things? Are we still sending out hoards of child soldiers? Yes? No? If not, what are you doing instead? And you can still have the internal conflict that comes with rapid change. But it should be a show demonstrating that there is a better path forward and letting characters deal with their trauma. OR it could be a return to that path because clearing things aren't on track with the start of Boruto. So, Boruto makes Naruto realize things haven't changed enough/he hasn't dealt with his issues and there we go.

Also the cheating scandal is fucking bullshit because shinobi are literally trained to cheat and get ahead however possible. It's insane that scientists scientistific ninja tools is where they draw the line. Baffling.

(Working on my wips??? never heard of it. Hears an entirely different au then the other one I posted, which I will write more of. At some point. For now, Boruto brain rot has gotten to me, so here’s a weird au where Hinata had the two kids and then died and then Naruto took the kids and left the village under mysterious circumstances. Have fun, try to follow it as best as you can. You don’t need to watch Boruto to know what’s going on here. Just know that Naruto left the village with his kids in tow and they have no idea that they’re from Konoha. Oh and just like everything else this will probably be sns at some point because I am weak. Tell me if you like this one)

His father is dying and Boruto can't think. 

He should do something, say something. Come up with a funny, stupid one liner or whatever. But he can't. He can't do fucking anything at all. Sometimes his brain feels like it's made of jelly, sloshing around uselessly in his head when he desperately needed to use it. The rain was coming down in torrents, a downpour that they hadn't expected. The giant trees stretch out above them and form a canopy as they stand at the forest floor, but the canopy isn't enough to stop the rain from reaching them. Boruto’s clothes are soaked through; sticking to his body. Thankfully the storm was warm, a summer downpour rather than an icy tsunami. But he didn't notice the rain, and he probably wouldn’t have given a damn anyway. His father was laying in the grass, the wound on his chest staining the green with crimson. Boruto desperately tried to use every healing technique he could remember, funneling chakra into his hands in a desperate attempt to close the wound. He was sixteen years old, his father had trained him in almost every technique he knew (mostly for defense), but truthfully, Naruto had never been good at healing jutsu either. So, Boruto’s skill was lacking in this area, and it was going to get his father killed. He couldn't weasel his way out of this one like he usually did, and that was becoming abundantly clear. His father had gotten nervous, Boruto was aware of that when they went there. They needed to draw close to Konohagakure to get across the Land of Fire and back home to Wave Country before winter set in, and that had immediately set Naruto on edge for some reason. Boruto didn't bother questioning it, he knew he wouldn't get any answers. Everything had been going fine, they were making good time, but then they got ambushed by bandits, and everything had happened so fast. It was all Boruto's fault, really. If he hadn't kept his father up so late the night before, he would have realized something was wrong earlier and managed to fend them off easily. Typically any opponent was no match for Boruto’s father, but none of them had been paying attention and the ambush was almost perfectly timed. Naruto scared them off and nearly got himself killed in the process, and now Boruto was here, stuck in time. He dimly felt a tug on his sleeve and vaguely registered Himawari talking to him. 

“Is he gonna die?” she whispered. Boruto didn't even think about the question.

“No,” he answered immediately, letting the chakra fade from his fingertips and opting to just stop the bleeding manually instead, pressing on the wound. He was running out of time, there was so much blood and he could hardly get it to slow down and what would he do if- he felt the presence of ninja before he saw them, and that fully snapped him back to reality. Boruto forgot about his father for a second and whirled towards the other side of the clearing, shoving Himawari behind him. He had to protect her, that was the prerogative. He threw kunai blindly in that direction, three of them. The shinobi dodged the blades easily and then began advancing. 

His eyes settled on the squad of shinobi standing in the grass as they assessed him. He grabbed another kunai from his pocket and flipped it into his hand, angling it outwards. Boruto narrowed his eyes. Ninja were never good news, rogue or otherwise. These didn't seem rogue, and that was probably for the best. Still, loyal shinobi could be just as dangerous. Could be even more so, and he had Himawari to think about. The clouds in his head seemed to clear. There was a woman heading the group, with platinum blond hair pulled back into a ponytail. Her eyes were light blue, a different color from theirs, and she seemed… welcoming, almost. Still, she had the scrutinizing gaze of a shinobi. Boruto watched her movements, careful.   

“Don't come any closer,” he growled, trying to sound as threatening as he could manage, well aware of what he looked like. The hand holding his kunai was shaking. Who was he kidding? He’d gotten injured before while his father was fighting, he couldn't protect himself in this condition, let alone Naruto and his little sister as well. Still, he had to try. “Hear me? I said- I said stay away.” He gripped the kunai tighter, waiting for them to strike, make a move, do something. His father didn't trust ninja, they were to be avoided at all costs, even if he never seemed to have any necessarily malicious feelings towards them. Still, they were never to be trifled with under an circumstance. Never let them see what I taught you, he’d tell them, the few times where Naruto was serious. Ninjutsu are considered very dangerous, especially by shinobi. If they see you using ninjutsu it could get us in serious trouble. I mean it, Boruto. God, he wished Kurama was here right now, but by the looks of it, the demon was doing everything it could just to keep Naruto alive. Fine, they could do it on their own. Of course they could. The leading woman put her hands in the air and started edging towards him slowly. Her smile looked warm. He still didn't trust it. He gritted his teeth. What was she playing at?

“Hi there. My name’s Ino. What's your name?” she asked calmly. He didn't answer. 

“It looks like something bad happened. You have someone injured behind you, it looks like they need help. If you let me I can heal them. What’s your name, kid?” Boruto hesitated. It was too good to be true. This was a trap, it had to be. She had two people behind her, two men. Someone with black hair pulled into a stark ponytail and a frown. The other looked a bit more kind, he had brown hair and welcoming eyes. He still didn't trust them, he couldn't trust this-

“Please!” Himawari shouted. Boruto blinked and before he could do anything about it, Himawari had ducked past him and was running towards the woman. 

“Himawari! Get, get back here!” he shouted desperately, mind racing. They were going to kill her, what was she thinking? Himawari was usually more cautious, smart about these things despite her age. But the shinobi seemed surprised, not angry or poised to hurt her. She ran to the woman and tugged on her sleeve. Boruto froze. 

“He’s- he’s hurt and Boruto can't help and there's blood- I, I mean i've seen blood before but this- he’s- he’s going to die, please-” the woman crouched down and smiled again, clasping Himawari’s hands gently with hers. 

“Don't worry, I'm a medical ninja. I can help your father, okay?” She glanced at Boruto as if asking permission, and he found himself stepping aside, silently urging Himawari to come back to him. He moved out of the way and she ran into his arms. He should have been thinking about her more. She was clearly terrified, and he had been too psyched out to think about it. He scooped her up easily, suddenly more at ease now that he could confirm she would be safe. Boruto watched the medical ninja like a hawk as she moved over to his father, letting the other two approach as well. When the woman got a good look at him she gasped. “By the sages! What the fuck?” she demanded, sounding more juvenile all of a sudden.  

“What? What is it?” the plump man asked, trying to get a better look. 

“It's… it's Naruto.” Boruto stiffened, holding Himawari closer to him. 

“How do you people know my dad’s name?” he demanded. He felt lightheaded, and the indignant shouts of ‘what?’ from the other ninja weren't helping. The woman ignored him for a moment, checking Naruto’s wounds. It didn't take her long to stop the bleeding and close the wound, and she stood right after and turned her attention back to Boruto.

“Listen kid, it's… it's a long story. He’s going to be alright but he needs further treatment at the hospital. We can help him if we take him back to the village.” Boruto hesitated again, but concluded he didn't have a choice. He was outnumbered and if he didn’t accept the help, whatever the ulterior motives were, Naruto would die. So Boruto nodded mutely.

“F-Fine. But you better answer me when we get back to… wherever you're taking me. And- and she stays with me,” he said, nodding at Himawari. The woman smiled shakily, clearly rattled by some realization about Boruto’s father. The larger man picked him up and carried him easily. So Boruto watched, hopeless, as they took his father away, and followed close behind, arm still wrapped around Himawari. He would lecture her about rash actions later, now wasn't the time. The man with long black hair was studying him, and he didn't like it. Boruto glared. “What?” he snapped. The man raised an eyebrow. 

“I'm Shikamaru Nara,” he said. “What about you?” Boruto looked away. 

“I… B-Boruto… Namikaze,” he said with finality. Boruto Uzumaki, he wanted to say. Descendant of Uzushiogakure, grand daughter of Kushina Uzumaki. But he didn't trust these people to share his real name, instead going with the one their father used occasionally. Shikamaru snorted.

“Original name,” he muttered. Boruto only frowned. “Well, alright. Your sister, it looks like she has Byakugan. Does she?” Boruto blinked.

“Byaku- Byaku… what?”

“Hm. Nevermind. C’mon, while your father’s in the hospital, i'll take you to see the Hokage.”

Boruto alternative where after the Whateverth Ninja War Naruto was all, world peace! But also we should maintain our ninja skills in case aliens come back. Also we need $$ bc a lot of people are injured and disabled and have mouths to feed. 

Hey, what if we had events like the Chuunin Exam final matches as fundraisers? Only a version where nobody dies. And the other countries go along with this bc they can’t afford to lose more ninja rn.

And thus is born... *ninja sports* Who knows what the competition will be this time? Maybe the competitors... if they were successful at espionage! Crowd-pleasing contests of skill and flashy jutsu! With Uchiha Sasuke as referee, able to remember every detail in every fraction of a second to make the call! Cheer on your country’s heroes as they use every jutsu in the book to score that goal! Boruto grows up resentful of his father frequently traveling to commentate major events like the Kaiza and Haku Memorial Bowls in the Land of Wave - sure, he leaves his shadow clones, but they go pop and he wants to train with his pop! Sarada goes ‘darn’ when she gets the Sharingan, because now people are going to pressure her to be the next referee for the big, inter-village matches - like the competitions that graduate competitors from the genin to chuunin leagues - which would mean she couldn’t be Hokage since that would destroy her neutrality. 

Naruto may not be able to get across to traditional ninja that ‘hurting people is bad’ but he can make them realize it’s bad strategy that gets them docked points! While the Ninja Academy still needs to prepare defenders in case of future, potential war, he’s glad that his kids will be learning self-defense, with hurting others only as a last resort, to protect their precious people, instead of an ‘of course.’ And of course there’s a lot of $$ to be made by medic-nin, so that’s a big focus of ninja training now! 

Boruto’s character development is coming face to face with the fact there are people out there who want to destroy his father’s dream of a world where ninja aren’t tools for killing, in addition to underhanded teams! His goal changes from being a big sports star to becoming a referee who protects the purity of the matches by stopping cheating and sabotage attempts and preserves the peace ninja world from the shadows, like Uchiha Sasuke!

So I was thinking. Everyone gives Sakura crap for not being as well endowed as Ino or Hinata, but, I mean.. They're 15-17 years old. You can't base what they look like off of what you see on, say, Instagram because the percentage of cosmetic surgery has risen drastically in recent years. So, biologically speaking, it sometimes takes some girls a longer time to develop and, as we all know, Sakura has a strict training regime with Tsunade. As an adult, Kishimoto drew her with a more womanly appearance—one befitting that of a woman who's had children and come into herself. So I blame Studio Pierrot. I feel like their sole purpose in life is to undermine anything that would make Sakura seem more appealing, including her design.

It’s just another day. Just gotta get through one more day.

So has been the approach of Uchiha Sasuke regarding his life after the war. And it’s not been easy. At first, he found himself completely stripped of his purpose. Losing to Naruto - or rather, conceding to Naruto - had signaled an end to a phase of the avenger’s life. One that - though changing - had remained a constant for a decade. Have a goal. One goal. Stick to it until reaching the end. Adjust as need be.

First had been vengeance against Itachi. Then justice in his brother’s name against the village that had used him. After their meeting in the war, and the discussion the the Hokage, he’d had one last iteration: bring the battle to an end...and then use the circumstances to wipe clean the slate of shinobi. Remove the Kage. Ensnare the beasts. Use his newfound power to bring peace absolute, even if it meant resigning himself to the shadows.

He’d accepted that role. Made peace with it.

But, as usual...Naruto got in his way.

It was for the better, he supposes...even if some aspects, to him, remain necessary. Mostly regarding the shape and path forward of the shinobi world. Once he’d been healed and made whole (physically, at least), he’d left Konoha behind with a pilgrimage in mind. With plans to see the world and its new beginnings in every land, every village.

But then he’d gotten a bit...sidetracked.

And now, here he is, with not only a brother returned to him, but a cousin as well. And a police force under his command, in joint effort with the Hyūga. Which had led (at least in part) to his meeting the woman he wakes up to on this fine day.

Hinata’s still asleep, lying on her back as to best compensate for her rather voluminous stomach. Within grows their future firstborn, who’s finally letting her sleep in for once.

Managing to spare a few minutes to watch her, Sasuke eventually has to concede to a need to rise. Even if his wife is on maternity leave, he still has a job to do...bright and early, as he does nearly every day.

His morning routine is quick and basic, up and out the door in less than half an hour. As she always does, Hinata’s left him a breakfast to eat on the road to the station. He finishes just as he reaches the front door.

“Uchiha-sama!” A young Hyūga recruit snaps to attention. “The captain of the ANBU was here earlier, sir! He requested an immediate audience.”

...shit. That’s not good. Suddenly far more awake, Sasuke presses for details. “Where?”

“I...I think he’s just been waiting in your office, sir.”

A nod. “Thanks.”

He wastes no time in striding down the hall, entering the proper room and locking it behind himself. Itachi leans in a corner, dressed in ANBU gear, minus the mask. “Itachi? What -?”

“I need your assistance on a case.”

“...me as an officer, or me as an Uchiha?”

“The latter.”

Sasuke’s visible eye narrows. “...it happened again?”

“...it did. Worse this time.”

“Where?”

“My front door.”

“What?!”

A hand raises against his loud tone. “Thankfully that means it’s really only visible to us, tucked away in the compound. I’d like to keep word of it that way, as well.”

Sasuke pauses, trying to think. “...what did it say?”

“The usual. Threats, a list of our crimes...but no one claiming it. Whoever it was, must have been skilled. Someone would have noticed them otherwise. This wasn’t some run-of-the-mill dissenter against the Uchiha. This was someone serious.”

“I take it you moved your family?”

“I did. I’d have done the same for you, but the words were rather specific in targeting me this time. If you’d like, I can still have Hinata fetched. Shisui took the rest to the Hokage tower this morning.”

Sasuke runs an irritated hand back through his hair. “So much for having this be just another day…” Pause. “...I think that’s best. Until we can go over the scene and find out more. I don’t want to run in the face of a threat, but…”

“I know. I feel the same. We have people we can’t dare to risk.” With that, Itachi replaces his weasel facade. “I’ll dispatch a few of my officers. If things get bad enough, the missus suggested taking herself, the kids, and Hinata to her home in the mountains.”

“With the pair of them pregnant?”

“She’s capable, and you forget her teacher lives there as well. They’d be safe, and far from harm’s way...not to mention under rather strict defense.”

Sasuke can’t help a scowl. “...I don’t want our clan driven out of Konoha again.”

“Neither do I. But their safety is priority.”

“...I know.”

With that, the pair abandon the station and return to the Uchiha compound, the only three structures standing out rather obviously in the otherwise-empty district. Giving his home a glance, Sasuke instead follows Itachi to the main manor.

And then balks.

Carved into the front door is a vulgar message, within which is contained a number of threats, and foreboding warnings against Itachi’s “betrayals”.

“...she didn’t see it, did she?”

“No. I was up far earlier, and ordered her and the twins out the back with Shisui. They didn’t need to see that. He took them to the Hokage tower for now, to keep an eye on them while on shift with Kakashi. Hinata should be there by now as well.” Itachi’s face declines slightly. “...I should not be surprised, and yet…”

“It’s nauseating,” Sasuke agrees before his brother has to speak. “...and pisses me off. What do they mean, betrayal? You were working on behalf of the village! Everyone knows that now!”

Rereading the message, Itachi slowly shakes his head. “...I’m not sure. It could be that I betrayed the Uchiha...but who beyond us would be left to feel anger in that regard?”

“I dunno…”

“...there was Akatsuki, I suppose...and…” He fades out to silence.

“...what?”

“You remember what was reported about Root? There was no actual list of active members. And it was suspected some refused to report back to Konoha to be reassigned and reintegrated after Danzō’s death, and the faction’s dissolution.”

“...yeah…”

“This is only a theory, but...perhaps those remnants of Root are those who have been targeting us. Think about it: it makes sense. It could be said that I ‘betrayed’ Danzō. You and Shisui as well. Shisui’s eye was stolen, but he escaped, and has been revealed to have been living in secret despite Danzō’s order for his death. You fought him and drove him to suicide in an attempt to stop you and Obito. And I...I brought the truth of his actions to light with my return and pardon. All of his work has been revealed. His role in the massacre. Danzō’s life, reputation, and wishes have all been made moot by the three of us.”

Sasuke can’t help a humorless huff of breath. “...so you’re telling me we have an unknown number of ANBU-level nutcases still loyal to a dead asshole looking to get revenge on us?”

“As I said, it is only a theory. But it would explain why we can’t seem to catch them. It could be just one person. It could be a hundred. We have no records of Roots numbers, let alone how many turned their backs after Danzō’s death. They were brainwashed to be loyal to him. A few managed to resist, but…” Itachi gestures almost apathetically. “That may be the root of our problem.”

“...I’d expect wordplay like that from Shisui, not you.”

“He’s not here. Someone had to do it.”

Sasuke drags a hand down his face, sighing and staring at the splintered door. “...if that’s the case...we need to be damn careful. Hinata’s a jōnin, but also pregnant. Your wife’s a non-combat medic in the same boat with two kids. How the hell do we protect them without quitting our jobs to guard them day and night, and fortifying the houses?”

“...I don’t know. I will speak to Kakashi on the matter, as I’m sure Shisui has already begun. He may have more insight, and have help to offer. But I cannot assume what resources he would be willing - or able - to spare.”

The pair lapse back into silence, each lost in their thoughts. Anger slowly begins to boil in Sasuke’s blood. How dare they...how dare they come after his family...after all they’ve already been through? When will it end?!

“...for now, we’d best reconvene in the Hokage’s office. One of my squads will gather evidence in the meantime. And we’d best put the compound on lockdown. No one in or out.”

“Hn…”

There’s sympathy in Itachi’s gaze through his mask. “...we’ll get through this. As always...we live to fight another day.”

...but how many more will we need?

     OOF. This one's posted before midnight (my time) - yay! And also is a little bit heavier than usual!      This is another canon-ish snippet from a major WIP fic of mine that I'll probably never actually finish. SH is a side pairing in it, with focus actually being on a few RPCs of mine. And the epilogue (having been planned before Boruto's creation) focuses instead on major conflict surrounding the Uchiha, and a faction called "New Root"...which, as we can see, is causing the tiny clan some major issues.      'Issues' being a rather light word for it.      Anywho, Itachi just might be on to something with his Root theory...which is actually a much bigger problem than their first assumptions of simple villagers being upset with his return (as well as Sasuke's) given their past behavior. Which leads to a lot of drama and tension down the road!      But, this is just a snippet for the challenge, ahaha - so that's where we'll have to leave it for now. I can’t go south until I have the town badge, which I can’t get because Clay’s off doing Clay things somewhere.

Ultra Sun possessed all my interest and my Nuzlocke ways got put on hold for flying through wormholes. So it’s been way too long, but since this is done over text that’s not too obvious, right?

Oh, and during my off-time, it wasn’t something I looked up thanks to that being against the rules, but I remembered that it’s Caspet’s Poison typing that’s a problem against Psychic. Yay for that brief mystery concluding.

Now where the heck am I.

Right. Grinding and caves and not quite ready to talk to Bianca.

And it’s Summer now, according to the game’s clock. I wish that were true in the outside world as well. It’s cold.

If I had a Dawn Stone, I think I would add Diego to the squad. Omchomp is beloved and etc., but I won’t claim to be horribly attached, and Ralts’ every evolution has a spot in my heart that Pokemon Go can’t fill because I’m not wasting 100 candy on anything less than 93% perfection.

Only as much as I love Gardevoir, Gallade is so cool and I only get to pick one, aaaand... Yeah, okay, nothing’s being swapped out yet. Back to grinding. Back to hoping that Boruto learns literally any STAB attack.

Why does this keep happening. Ah, and this is not something Puff should be anywhere near. Arguably nothing on my team should be anywhere near it. #grinding_problems.

Vertex could maybe handle being Diego’s training partner... let’s give that a try instead of bloating Nessy’s level even further.

And the first thing a Charizard does is Dragon Rage the 84 health thing.

First out is a level 31 Krokorok. One Water Pulse downs it. Following that up is a level 31 Sandslash, and in the spirit of optimism and needing exp, Diego’s going to try to Magical Leaf it into submission. One isn’t enough, and Clay uses a Hyper Potion on his next turn. Next Magical Leaf after undoing that does the trick, and I think we’re bringing out Nessy next to contend with the Excadrill.

My Other Boruto OC: Yoshiro

So, here is my other OC, Yoshiro. His background is more complex than Hotaru’s, so seriously, constructive criticism is not a sin!

Name: Yoshiro

Age: 16

Birthday: June 14

Village: He is a shinobi of Sunagakure, but he was originally from a much smaller ninja village with a similar climate.

Family: Yoshiro’s parents, Tadashi and Seiko, unfortunately died when he was five years-old. He was and is currently being raised by his paternal uncle and Tadashi’s identical twin, Tamotsu. Tamotsu was the one who moved them Suna the day after his sixth birthday. He seems to suspect that Tadashi and Seiko’s deaths were foul play...

Squad Captain: Shira (I know he's a filler character, but he's also one of the more interesting Suna characters outside Baki and the Sand Siblings. Also, taijutsu masters rule.)

Skin Tone: He has a tan, similar to Baki’s.

Hair: Dark blonde, shaggy, and past shoulder-length, which he keeps in a low ponytail.

Eye Color: His left eye is hazel. His right, however, is covered by an eyepatch with a sealing. So not many people know what it looks like.

Outfit of Choice: Wears the standard Suna shinobi gear, with a tan flak jacket and dark blue shirt, pants, and shinobi sandals. He also wears his forehead protector as a bandana.

Chakra Types: Earth and Wind

Most Proficient Justu: Ninjutsu

Least Proficient Justu: Genjutsu

Abilities: He is a simulated jinchuuriki, having Shukaku’s chakra sealed in him hours after his birth, and it manifests in his right eye. As a result, that eye not only has a similar black ring around it like Gaara’s, but also has black sclera, yellow iris and the cross-shaped pupil, just like Shukaku and it made him an outcast in his birth home. Because of this, he is able to manipulate sand and carries a small gourd with him. Unlike Gaara, he doesn't have the luxury of an automatic defense, so he focuses on taijutsu to make up for it.

Unfortunately, he has almost lost control of the chakra he possesses more than once, and he goes into a frenzied state, attacking friend and foe alike, usually when he's under a LARGE amount of stress. He wears the eyepatch to counteract this.

Personality: Yoshiro is a genuinely kind, idealistic, cheerful, and heroic young man. He will never hesitate to help someone who needs his protection, and will always do the right thing. However, he will charge into battle without thinking his strategy through and distresses those who love him by putting himself in danger. Also, while he never shows it, he has a good amount of doubt in himself and often contemplates his own self-worth.

Favorite Food: Mabu Tofu, Curry, and generally anything good and spicy.

Least Favorite Food: Raw squid

Hobbies: He is surprisingly a huge fan of horror manga and has a small bookshelf dedicated to his collection. He also enjoys traveling and seeing new places. Though the desert will always be home.

Main Relationships:

Tadashi and Seiko- Yoshiro doesn't remember much of his parents other than they were both shinobi like Tamotsu. He does remember his mother as warm and gentle and his father as kind, if a bit stern.

Tamotsu- Tamotsu is essentially Yoshiro’s key parental figure. He’s a friendly and laid-back man who will go through Hell and back for Yoshiro and absolutely BOILS at the idea of anyone taking advantage of and harming his nephew. After arriving to Suna, the first thing he did when he met Gaara was throw himself onto the ground and beg the Kazekage to let Yoshiro live there and be able to grow up a normal kid. After a period of time, he himself became of Suna’s most loyal ninja.

Gaara- Yoshiro deeply respects Gaara, especially since Gaara took the time to help him train his sand ninjutsu and refers to him as simply ‘Sensei’. Gaara himself feels that Yoshiro should know that he isn't alone in his situation and wants him to be a better man than him. He also can't ignore the similarities they have and quite happy that Yoshiro has no problem socializing and making friends. He certainly doesn't want the young man going through same, virulent path he was once on.

Shira- The two are quite close as mentor and student. Shira helped Yoshiro compensate for his lack of an automatic defense by sharpening his reflexes and getting him used to pain. Yoshiro can also empathize with Shira, since they both used to be outcasts. 

Shinki, Yodo, and Araya- Yoshiro sees them as younger siblings to an extent and does his best to keep them on the right path and to protect them. He helps them hone their abilities and encourages them. They themselves are also fond of himself and do see him as something as an older brother. Though, naturally, being close means they will get on each other’s nerves from time to time. Especially Yodo and her damn earphones. Poor Yoshiro has lost count on how many times he's threatened to cut the wire if she didn't pay attention.

Kankuro- Out of all the adults in his life, Kankuro is definitely more of a friend. They tend exchange friendly ribbings and have each other's backs. Kankuro is quite surprised by how different Yoshiro is to Gaara personality-wise. They will also keep ribbing each other in combat, with Yoshiro playfully calling him an old man while Kankuro groans how young people should respect their elders. It's really kind of amusing.

Hotaru Hyuga (My other OC)- To say some people consider their friendship odd is an understatement. The bright and friendly Yoshiro and the dark and sarcastic Hotaru consider the other as their best friend. The two had met when they were taking the Chunin Exam and, despite facing each other in the final rounds, really hit it off. In a way, they sort of balance each other. Hotaru keeps a cool head and can talk Yoshiro out of his more rash actions while Yoshiro, out of everyone else, can bring out Hotaru’s sweeter side the most often (though she's still snarky, since that's how she is). They are also beginning to develop romantic feelings alongside their friendship. Though Yoshiro with his self-esteem issues and Hotaru not being a terribly expressive person leads them to deny it. 

But even Gaara can see it.

* Phew! That was definitely longer than Hotaru’s. Like her, I will make a separate post on his overall childhood and academy experiences. Seriously, don't hesitate to point out flaws.
