BORN IN FLAMES (1983) dir. Lizzie Borden In near-future New York, 10 years after the “social-democratic war of liberation”, equality remains unfulfilled. When Adelaide Norris, the black revolutionary founder of the Woman’s Army, is mysteriously killed, a diverse coalition of women—across all lines of race, class, and sexual orientation—emerges to blow the system apart. hi ive been working my way through your t girl films rec lis and I was wondering if you had any good lesbian ( or nblw) film recs, when I search on google the results so far have been ... a lil male gazey
You might like Go Fish (1994) or Born in Flames (1983) or Pariah (2011). Those are all genuinely cool (Born in Flames is less centrally focused on queerness than the other two, but it is a banger).
I hate the question tho lol (or at least how I'm interpreting it which I fully recognize is probably just me projecting and being unfair towards you).
Because lesbian watch lists and recommendations do suck (it's always a mix of not even explicitly gay shows with characters people ship and overwhelmingly heterosexual shows that incidentally have a gay character in the background like the lesbian ex wife on Friends), but like...
What even is an overly male gazey lesbian film?
Something with sexy slutty lipstick lesbians who fuck men on the side? Because that full ass describes Daddy Issues (2018) (which rules)!
And I'm like still hung up on this one girl coming over, talking about how The Handmaiden (2016) (a movie that I personally remember very little of because I was having drunk transbian sex when I watched it) is unfortunately bad lesbianism because it was directed by a man, and then HATING Concussion (2013) when I showed it to her and it turned out to largely be a series of sex scenes.
Concussion (2013) is about a MILF who becomes an escort (despite not needing the money) just so that she can cheat on her wife and bang a bunch of women.
Concussion (2013) wasn't directed by a man though. It was directed and written by a woman. Daddy Issues (2018) was also directed by a woman and written by women.
And obviously women can reproduce the male gaze (something being made by women isn't a total get out of jail free card when it comes to criticism of how women are presented in media), but like if even women aren't allowed to be horny for women having sex with other women then whats the point of lesbianism?

173 Influential SCPs
I went to SCPper, found the most upvoted articles by users who've made at least one SCP, and sorted by time. These aren't necessarily the 173 best articles on the site, but I think they're likely to be the most influential. Longtime fans have probably read most or all of these but maybe this could be a starting point for newcomers.
I think sorting by time is important because the Foundation's been around almost 17 years. Writers come and go, trends come and go, new writers are influenced by what came before, and later articles are often longer and more complex than earlier ones. Just sorting by most upvoted bounces you around time; on the main wiki you read mostly series 1 articles then get dunked into SCP-5000. I hope this is a more natural progression, and that by the end people have more context for what's going on.
Using upvotes from writers only is important because the more writers like an article, the more likely later SCPs are to be influenced by it, so those articles are more likely to be important for understanding the wiki as a whole.
I might do an alternate version of this list that replaces the extremely long articles with shorter SCPs.
If you have trouble understanding one of the articles (some of the later ones get LONG), look it up on r/SCPDeclassified. If you would prefer audio narration/explanations, The Exploring Series and TheVolgun are both excellent. And of course, make sure to look in the sidebar on the wiki for guides, lists and explanations.

Occupation: US Navy Fighter Pilot
Status: Alive
Physical Appearance

Description: Ashley, in her down time, can be found wearing a combination of the following types of clothing: straight, mom or slim jeans, plain coloured short and long sleeved shirts, flannel shirts (got that style from her dad), leather jacket, heavy fur lined winter coat, sneakers or boots.
She got into the habit of wearing non-branded clothes throughout her teens, picked up from her mother; the only item of clothing she own that has any sort of picture/brand on it is a baseball cap.
Her features are an even balance between her mother and father, her eye shape resembles that of Jodie, whereas the colour is an exact match of Frank's. She has the same nose as her mother, too. Although, most people say she looks more like Frank, until she then stands next to Jodie. Then when she stands in the middle of her parents, people can't decide which on she resembles more.
However, most faces she pulls, the facial gestures, are very much Frank. You can definitely tell she is her father's daughter, lol.
Ashley's hair is very straight, black-brown in colour like Frank's and it straight cut at her shoulders with a middle parting. She keeps it long enough that she can comfortably tie it back without any strays falling into her face.
Personality
Like(s): adrenaline rushes, flying, tinkering with cars/bikes, taking things apart and putting them back together again, puzzles, rollercoasters, riding her motorcycle, adventure, pizza, coffee (like her mum), teasing/banter with her dad
Dislike(s): bullies, people who abuse their authority in order to cause harm to others, being underestimated, people making assumptions about her based on her parents, tea, certain kinds of bugs (centipedes will freak her out), scratchy tags in clothing, arguments without a point/baseless accusations, bland tasting foods
Strength(s): loyal to a fault, fast thinker, calm under pressure, witty, funny, cares deeply, tactically intelligent, diligent, meticulous, takes no shit, will stand up for herself and others, defends the little guy
Weakness(es): can be blunt sometimes, doesn't work well with new people easily it takes her time to warm up to new additions to teams, can sometimes seem like she prefers working alone/with a small group, can get annoyed easily when someone messes with her routine in a big way, can sometimes let her anger get the better of her, can sometimes be a little impulsive
Relationships
Parent(s): Frank and Jodie Woods, Aleksandra (@alypink's OC) and Russel Adler
Sibling(s): Marynee, Heather, Victoria Adler (alypink's OCs), David Mason (kinda views him as a brother, given he basically gets adopted by Frank and Jodie).
Spouse(s): Russel Adler Jr (alypink's OC)
Children: tba
Biography
Ashley was born in 1983 to Frank Woods and Jodie Hall, who would then later marry to become Mr and Mrs Woods. Her childhood wasn't without its challenges, though it was the best that both of her parents could offer given their line of work and the dangers they faced. Ashley cannot really remember ever wanting for anything.
Though her memories are not great surrounding this, she knows that there was a time during her childhood that she had to be heavily protected, though she was never made privy as to why. Jodie always said that it didn't matter, that it was over with, and there was no need to worry about that anymore. Ashley was always curious throughout her teens of the subject, but Jodie would often ask her to stop. It's only when she's older that Jodie and Frank explain about Jodie's past and a man named Keith.
When old enough, Ashley had made the decision that she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her parents and pursue a career in the military and spent a lot of time weighing up her options; initially, she was met with both of her parents trying their best to convince her to choose something else to do with her life, but she was dead set on it. Jodie relented first, Frank did so later. Both knew she would only do as she wished anyway. Once Ashley had looked into all possibilities, she had settled on wishing to join the Navy, the interest sparked after David had joined. Given that she had a lifelong interest in aviation, planes and fighter jets, Ashley knew where her path within the Navy would take her. Her aim was to become a fighter pilot (maybe she also saw Top Gun, which made the job look even cooler when she was a teen).
The path to becoming a Navy fighter pilot was long, arduous but definitely worth it. She gained a degree in engineering, then moved through the required training. It may have taken her years, but those years were spent going through regimented, gruelling training to become a well-rounded, adaptable, skilled fighter pilot.
Later on in her career, she goes through more training to become an instructor, teaching the next generation of pilots.

Revamped Rewrite of "Atychiphobia , 007" - previously :
Eddie / Steve x platonic!experiment!reader.
( i’m back freakazoids 😄😄😄)
You were born in Chicago, Illinois in 1971, living an ordinary life until strange things began to happen around you. Every time you were upset, objects would burst into flames or fly across the room. Your parents, overwhelmed and out of answers after countless calls, doctor’s appointments, (and even a few visits to your local church if you know what I mean,) you were finally referred to a man named Dr. Brenner. Promising to “help,” Brenner quickly took you in.
So now, at just three years old, you found yourself under Hawkins National Laboratory’s cold lights, meeting others like you—El, (008), a friendly orderly named Peter, and
By 1983, you’d been there a grating ten years. That was also the year you and Eleven made your escape. The outside world was chaotic and overwhelming after so long inside, and soon after fleeing together, you lost each other in the forest.
Days passed, and you were exhausted, hungry, and bruised from wandering through the unfamiliar terrain. Just when you were about to give up, a strange sound cut through the trees. It was unlike anything you’d ever heard. Hypnotized, you followed the sound until you stumbled upon the edge of a trailer park.
The noise grew louder, drawing you to a boy sitting alone on a picnic table, holding a strange object in his hands—a guitar. He couldn’t have been much older than you, but his hair was wild, and his fingers plucked at the guitar strings with a confidence that made the world feel brighter for a moment.
Eddie Munson, sixteen and ever the rebel, had no plans to play quietly. When he heard footsteps, he half-expected a neighbor (probably Mrs. Nolan) coming to yell at him. Instead, he looked up to find a kid in a hospital gown, bare feet covered in dirt and a wide-eyed stare.
“Uh… hi?” he managed.
You just blinked, eyeing the guitar with both fascination and fear.
As Eddie got off the table, you tensed. Eddie noticed your flinch, the dried blood under your nose, and the cuts on your legs, reminding him of the recent news about missing kids. This wasn’t some prank—something had happened to you.
“Hey, it’s okay,” he said, putting his hands up. “Are you hurt? Do you need help?”
You took a step back, every instinct urging you to run. But then something howled in the distance, freezing you in place. Eddie noticed your fear and softened his tone even more.
“Let’s get inside, alright? I don’t want anyone calling the cops on us. Trust me, they’re not as helpful as you’d think.”
Inside, Eddie gave you a Van Halen shirt and some sweatpants. When you tried changing right there, he quickly stopped you, face red. “Whoa—don’t do that! I mean, not in front of guys you don’t know, okay?” You nodded, a little confused, as he explained and left the room.
When you finally emerged, Eddie set a slice of cold pizza in front of you and tried to get you talking. “Ever had pizza before?”
You shook your head and took a cautious bite, which Eddie watched, amazed as you practically inhaled the slice. After a while, he asked, “So… my name’s Eddie. What’s yours?”
You pointed at your wrist, showing the number tattooed there. “007.”
“Like… James Bond?” He joked, but your blank stare told him you didn’t know what he was talking about. When you pointed at yourself and repeated, “Me,” Eddie got the hint and softened.
“Well, we can work with that. Maybe we call you ‘Seven’ or ‘Van’—you know, like Van Halen! Or maybe ‘Ozzy’?” You nodded, and Eddie laughed, feeling like he was finally getting somewhere.
The next morning, Eddie woke up to find you sitting on the floor, plucking at his guitar’s strings. Normally, he’d have a meltdown seeing anyone handle his guitar, but he could tell you didn’t know any better. When he asked if you liked it, you quickly dropped the guitar and apologized.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Eddie reassured, showing you how to hold it and strum without snapping the strings. You asked him to play “the one from last night,” so he played Black Sabbath’s *Children of the Grave*, the song that had drawn you to him.
Eddie spent the next few days teaching you guitar basics and introducing you to all his favorite bands. You especially liked Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s wild stories, and you loved when he’d crank up the music and start dancing around. “This is *metal*,” he said, grinning as he showed you the classic devil horns hand gesture.
You copied him, saying, “Metal!” which made Eddie laugh, thrilled that you were opening up. He even took you to Main Street once, disguising you with a baseball cap and oversized sunglasses.
But things changed when his uncle, Wayne, came home early. He wasn’t thrilled to find Eddie skipping school, even less thrilled to find a strange girl in his clothes, sitting at the table and listening to him explain D&D.
“Hey, Ed, can we talk?”
Wayne pulled Eddie into the other room, leaving you nervously listening as their voices rose. Eddie tried to explain, but his uncle didn’t want to hear it.
“If something’s wrong, you call the police. What if they think you kidnapped her, Eddie?”
“No way! She’s a kid—she *needed* help!”
The argument kept escalating until Wayne threw his hands up in frustration. You reacted instinctively, raising your hand and sending him flying into the wall. When the dust settled, Eddie was staring at you, stunned, and Wayne was slumped against the wall, wide-eyed.
“I didn’t mean to—I thought he was going to hurt you! I’m sorry!” you shouted, panicking. Before either of them could say anything, you ran out of the trailer, vanishing into the night.
Days passed with no sign of you. Eddie searched everywhere after school, but it was like you’d disappeared. He would’ve thought he’d imagined the whole thing if not for the dent in the wall and the silence hanging over the house since you left.
Two weeks later, Eddie was in his room retuning his guitar when Wayne knocked on the door.
“Hey Ed, i’m about to head out , try not to stay up too late, alright?”
See, Wayne had been informed my Mrs. Nolan, one early afternoon when he arrived back home, that after he would leave for work at night, his nephew would leave the trailer before trailing into the woods for hours at a time. sometimes not until the early hours of the morning.
Which lead to another argument between the two munson men. Shouts of "she's a nosy bitch, who should worry about what her husband does at night instead of my shit!" and "Watch your mouth! If she wasn't watching, what would i do if you went missing too, one night, huh?!"
After that Eddie stopped going out at night, and he also didn't talk much, unless spoken to by Wayne first.
“Okay. Have a good night.” Eddie said monotonously, not looking up from his guitar.
“Oh! and uh, I ran into Garrett from the photo shop. Said these were yours.”
Wayne tossed him a manila envelope, before taking his leave. After a few minutes of back and forth glances at the thing, he finally picked it up out if curiosity.
Inside was a single photo: you and Eddie at the general store, doing the metal sign with your tongues out, smiling.
Eddie’s eyes widened in shock, his breath stuttering a bit. He had proof now—not to show anyone, but proof that you were real, that he hadn’t imagined his “coolest kid ever.” He quickly scribbled “Eddie & Van, Nov. 1983” on the back of the picture and pinned it next to his guitar.
He didn’t know if he’d ever see you again, but at least now he’d have a memory.
It would be three more years before you crossed paths again.
But that’s a story for another time.

"There's been a murder!" arguably the most uttered phrase ever by a Scottish TV cop and on February 21st 1935 the man himself, Mark McManus was born.
Taggart star Mark McManus, despite dying aged just 59, in 1994, lived more lives than most. Hamilton-born Mark had already been a miner, a docker, and an amateur boxer before he took up acting - in Australia, where he shared screen time with both Skippy The Bush Kangaroo, and Mick Jagger, in director Tony Richardson's 1970 take on the Ned Kelly story
Returning home in 1971, McManus appeared in productions at the Royal Court and the National Theatre, playing alongside such actors as Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson. But it was not until 1983 that he found the role which he was born to play, Tough Glasgow polisman, Jim Taggart. To some critics, the character veered into the danger zone of caricature: the sort of Glaswegian hardnut who could be summed up by all those cliched epithets: 'dour', 'gruff', 'gritty', 'stony-faced', he certainly carried off the part with ease.
He may have come across all of them, but in real life Mark loved a wee laugh to himself, one anecdote I found to confirm this relates to last weeks birthday girl, Annette Crosbie, who incidentally attended Edinburgh's Boroughmuir School with my Uncle Edmund!.
Anyway Annette featured in a 1987 edition of Taggart. Being a perfectionist, she kept asking McManus to rehearse together. McManus, who usually read over his lines just once before filming, became so annoyed that during one scene he went to light her cigarette and "accidentally" burnt away part of her wig with an extra-long flame (a gaff which later featured on It'll be Alright on the Night). While making the next episode, McManus quipped to a co-star, "I hope you're not gonna be any trouble or I'll set you on fire like the last one!"
McManus was a graduate summa cum laude of the 'Less Is More' School of Acting.
An average of 13 million viewers (including, it is said, the Queen Mother) agreed. Taggart became as synonymous with Glasgow as Inspector Morse is with Oxford.
