What are you up to this weekend? . #Repost @bigheadtaco ・・・ While on vacation I dropped into the @whistlerlibrary and made a b-line for the photography section. This photo book by @fredherzogphotography is a must have. For his generation, Fred was quite unique because he was a colorist street photographer. Who cares? The majority of his contemporaries shot exclusively black and white, the strict standard for serious street photographers back then. Fred was also different because he shot the majority of his images on @kodak Kodachrome, a proprietary colour slide film. It's good to be different because Herzog's work really stands out and has stood the test of time . Fred Herzog is still shooting in the same areas from his photo books from 50 years ago (DTES, Chinatown, Strathcona). I bumped into Fred and Henri Robideau a couple of months ago with Camera Girl in Strathcona. They say you should never meet your heroes, but that didn't apply to me that day. Fred was very generous with his time and was in a good mood.
