I firmly believe that some stories can never be translated into a different medium and that's okay

Today I rewatched “The Dark Crystal” (1982) and I remembered WHY it’s my favorite Jim Henson movie. As much as I LOVE “Labyrinth” (1986), this movie is filled to the brim with world-building, beautiful sets, creatures, music, and not a human character in sight. I love the master puppetry and how gorgeous everything is, or how grotesque!
I recently bought “The World of the Dark Crystal” by Brian Froud and I can’t wait to dig into it, and all the other books I have set in Thra, the world of The Dark Crystal.

The most ironic thing about this movie is Chris wanting to be a doctor cause once he gets to med school he's gonna realize he was DAMN lucky not to have been born with some debilitating medical condition or mental disability.

Windows are quiet storytellers, revealing how lives are lived—through the light they welcome, the views they frame, and the shadows they let linger.

Friends (who are soon to be lovers) fighting in media are the best scenes.

Yah sure. I havent fully seen the movies but I have read the books.
And what if, Hiccup in the movies is Hiccup the first, abd the movies are in fact a prequel.
In the books, dragon training is a well established buisness. In the movies, they are fighting at first.
Hiccup befriends Toothless, in the movies, who can not speak to him, in contrast to Hiccup in the books who learned to speak deagoneese from a young age.
Book Hiccup the first, managed to create a golden age between humans and dragons that lasted a thousand years, the kingdom of the wilderwest.
I heard that movie Hiccup has managed to create a union between humans and dragons.
And it would be such a nice Au explanation, about why the circumstances are so diffrwnt, its a prequel
Toothless is a small, loyal, little pest of a dragon, and a night fury is a very fine hunting dragon that Hiccups mean cousion Snoutlot (whos the best at everything in class) had, which is kind of ironic.

This has got to be one of the hauls I had the most fun with! I found so many good treasures plus two movies I don’t have physical copies of (no I refuse to stream).
We’ve got: Gnomes, Giants, Faeries, The Dark Crystal, and The Neverending Story.

The movie does well in omitting all of the unnecessary dialogue that fills the pages of the book, but it also eliminates a lot of the imagery too. All of the time spent describing what people are wearing down to their accessories and debating over where to eat, drink, or score party favors, I feel, was very redundant and added nothing to the story.
If you would like a more vivid picture, for sure, read the book; otherwise, the movie isn’t too far off the mark.
