WIP 2024 - March results
Well, March was a better month for writing than February. I wrote a bit of this and that, but I didn’t finish any of the outstanding WIPs. That’s okay. I’m feeling optimistic about April. I’d like to take a minute to share ALL of the books that are currently available on Amazon in case you haven’t checked in a while. I’m proud of all my babies (books) and am eternally hopeful that each and…

Chrollo and illumi(maybe hisoka if you want!) w a Latina or Mexican reader? Like they introduces them into their culture or etc! If not it’s okay !!
Illumi and Chrollo with Latina/Mexican!reader
Characters: Illumi Zoldyck, Chrollo Lucilfer Type: Fluff, Headcanons, Gn!reader
unfortunately I do not write for Hisoka >.< also I'm not Latina so if anything is incorrect pls tell me, I don't want to be offensive!
Warnings: None
Illumi Zoldyck
he's definitely the most culturally ignorant out of the two
like as a small child only asian people existed to him 💀
as an adult he obviously knows about other ethnicities existing but that's about it
if you speak in spanish/portuguese/any other language or dialect to him hes like "??? speak english"
bro doesn't like not knowing what you're saying
in my head Illumi is trilingual (mandarin, japanese and english) but I don't think he's interested in taking the time to learn another one
so yeah, he knows that whenever you speak your language when it's just him around you're either mad or don't want him to know what you're saying
honestly he could care less but if you talk about your culture to him he'll sorta half listen 😭
he vaguely remembers the things you tell him
I think the only cultural thing he'd really pay attention to is when you celebrate dia de los muertos
considering in both chinese and japanese cultures it's important to honor the dead so he respects that you do the same, even if the rituals and whatnot are different
Chrollo Lucilfer
I headcanon Chrollo as being part Latino himself but I don't have like a specific country in mind so yeah
butttttt growing up in meteor city maybe Chrollo doesn't know his background
he has a good amount of knowledge on the cultures in Latin America
Chrollo is #woke
but anyways, most of his knowledge he's gotten from books, so he listens with an open mind when you explain things to him
he likes it when you tell him authentic stories or legends and myths and whatnot
like Illumi, he pays attention to dia de los muertos
he actually celebrates it with you, putting a picture of his dear friend Uvogin on the ofrenda, knowing that he would appreciate it
he'd be interested in learning your language, in fact he may actually learn it behind your back
so when you're yelling at him in your mother's tongue he can give a response/understand
and you're like >:0 "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU SPOKE ___"
I think Chrollo would be really good at dancing and likes to go to bailes with you
if you take him to family functions they're actually pretty impressed on how cultured he is
one thing he doesn't know about is rosca de reyes.
he ends up getting the baby and by the look you're giving him he decides to hide it in his pocket and ask you about it
after you explain it to him he's relieved that he hid it before anyone else noticed he had it, because his tamale skills are LACKING

1:30pm, nyc panadería
Don Paco Lopez, Panadería, established 1991, in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, smells absolutely fucking amazing.
The air is thick with the smell of dough and cinnamon and chocolate and something about the mix of aromas has Alex’s choking up a little – caught in the memories of his abuelas kitchen. The place reminds him so much of summers and Christmases in Mexico that he has half a mind to book a ticket down there right now, the nostalgia is so powerful.
Through the window, Alex can see illuminated baking cases — almost empty at this hour — and a man and woman dancing and laughing behind the counter, each covered in both wrinkles and flour. He can just make out the sound of Selena through the glass door.
Without a second thought, without any regard for his carefully structured schedule, Alex steps inside, the bell over the door jingling merrily.
The dancing couple breaks apart at the noise, smiles still firmly in place, and moves to their stations before freezing in place, mid-greeting, as she recognizes him as the son of the President.
“¡Hola! Bienvenido a— ¡Dios mío, eres tú!”
Alex slips into Spanish as easily as breathing. “Culpable de los cargos,” he says, a sheepish grin on his face. “Huele increíble aquí. Al igual que recuerdo la cocina de mi abuela.”
“Muchas gracias.” They both still look stunned he’s in their shop. “Estamos horneando para la próxima orden de catering.”
The knowledge that this panadería does catering has Alex’s brain going a mile a minute. He scans the cases, searching for his favorites. Pan de muerto chico, tamales dulces, rosca de reyes, churros, cuernito, niditos—and there, in the far corner, Alex’s favorite: conchas.
“Bueno, quiero esa última concha de chocolate, pero también voy a hacer algunos pedidos de catering.”
“¿Algunos? ¿Cómo en múltiples?”
“Sí,” Alex says, letting his grin go a little wicked. “No puedo dejar que los niños del Refugio Okonjo tengan todas las golosinas, ¿verdad?”
The Lopezes laugh, albeit a little hysterically, as a timer goes off in the back. Paco excuses himself to the ovens with a gesture to his wife. “Mi esposa puede ayudarle con su pedido, Sr. Claremont-Díaz.”
“¡Llámame Alex!” he calls after Mr. Lopez. He lowers his voice back to normal volume as he turns to Mrs. Lopez. “Por favor, insisto.”
“Bueno… Alejandro. ¿Qué podemos hacer por ti?”
He chuckles, visions of piles of pastries dancing in his head. “¿Tienes un bolígrafo y papel a mano?”
Mrs. Lopez’s eyes crinkle with amusement as she clicks her pen and hovers over an order pad. “Estoy lista.”
Alex lets the words fly, making up the order for the shelter on the spot. Día de los Muertos is coming up, and there’s enough kids at the shelter who haven’t gotten a proper celebration of the holiday in a while that will practically die with happiness when he drops the baked goods off.
For his own order, he’s been homesick for Mexican baking for a while. He can make a mean mole, throw kick-ass enchiladas in the oven, even put together a salsa that June said was on par with their abuelo. But Alex doesn’t have as much time, or frankly the patience, to turn out conchas and other sweet breads that his abuela still makes once a week. He orders way more than he’ll ever be able to eat before it goes stale, but he doesn’t care. Henry will at least try each variety, and Alex can always bring any extras to class or his review session.
Mrs. Lopez won’t hear of him paying full price, and Alex can’t fathom paying anything less. Mr. Lopez finally interrupts their standoff with a suggestion of thirty percent off for the shelter. That, Alex will accept—he’ll do anything for Henry and Pez’s dollars to stretch further to help queer kids. Mrs. Lopez still looks grumpy, but she concedes to Alex paying full price for his own order as well. (Alex will leave a big tip when he picks up both orders, whether she likes it or not.)
He thanks them again, setting a pick up time for both orders and leaves with his chocolate concha and a wide smile on his face. Henry and the rest of his family are going to make so much fun of him for the sheer volume he ordered, but in Alex’s defense, he was left unsupervised.
Translations: Hello! Welcome to— Oh my God, it’s you! Guilty as charged. It smells amazing in here. Just like I remember my grandma’s kitchen. Thank you so much. Well, I want that last chocolate concha, but I'm also gonna place some catering orders. Some? As in multiple? Can’t let the kids at the Okonjo Shelter have all the goodies, now can I? My wife can help you with your order, Mr. Claremont-Díaz. Call me Alex! Please, I insist. Okay, Alex. What can we do for you? Got a pen and paper handy? I’m ready.

I was tagged by @lady-harrowhark ♥ in a tag meme game, answers below the cut 👀
Three ships: I don’t even know how to tackle this lol I know kids these days use the word ship in ways I don’t get, but I’ll go with my understanding. I’ll do a historic ship, a hall of fame ship from last year and the one most read in my ao3 history currently.
So, for historic ship I’d say Royai, but I have come to accept that I do ship them as a qp relationship, not romantically. I think they are probably in the top 5 of the most well developed qp relationships I’ve ever read (unintentionally probably idk), but I only noticed the importance of that once I lifted the fandom veil of “every ship that isn’t canonically romantic and sexual is lacking it and fandom has to fill that void”.
For a hall of fame from last year, I’d give props to Lilly Fortenberry and Candace Powell from Astrid and Lilly Save the World. The nerdy fat girl and the popular girl with a strict upbringing who used to be friends as kids and something happened that made them drift apart but turns out they’re in love with each other, love to see it. Hope they get another season.
And my most read currently in ao3 is probably superbat but that also counts as a historic one too. I also don’t care about what kind of relationship they’re in, I’ve always liked their dynamic, so it’s a delight whatever the case.
First ever ship: It’s probably a toss up from shows I watched as a little kid, Rogue and Gambit from Saban’s X-Men was probably one of the firsts when I was in primary school.
Last song: I am learning how to play One Summer’s Day by Joe Hisaishi (the Chihiro song) in kalimba, so that’s the last I heard. Normally I look for several versions on the instrument and listen to the original and make my own tabs from all of that (I’m using 4 different versions for this one, but one is in a different kalimba with a different amount of keys than mine). I had stopped playing after my cat passed away because she used to be with me when I did and I miss her terribly, but I picked it back up finally this week.
Last movie: So, in the last 4 days I watched Strange World, Glass Onion, the latest Prince of Tennis movie (Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis I think it’s called, we watched both versions) and the Cherry Magic movie. I’m catching up with the fun ones before awards season is upon us.
Currently reading: I finished the 2nd AriDante book and I’m going to pick back up friend recommendations, so I’ll continue with Wayward Children (recommended by @bewareofitalics first and then Locked Tomb recommended by the lovely Emily who tagged me on this). I’m also reading a bunch of non fiction books, depends on my mood what I pick that day.
Currently watching: Blue Lock, Yowamushi Pedal (the latest season) and we just finished His Dark Materials season 3. A lot of eclectic youtube stuff.
Currently consuming: as in food? nothing atm. I have to start preparing the rosca de reyes tomorrow, to finish it on the 6th, though. Tomorrow I’m in pastry cream and sugar confections duty.
Currently craving: the Eliza McFee doll is the first thing that comes to mind, she looks very adorable and I collect fairies.
Tagging: whoever wants to do this, consider yourselves tagged by me and post it! because most time the people I tag aren’t in the mood and the people I forget to tag would like to do it, I have terrible aim in tags.

And before I forget just a little note! I’ve been tagged in these things about five times already, but they ask for a little more personal stuff and I’m shy and honestly not up for that yet, so If the things you tag me in ask for name and age and stuff like that, I won’t answer, I’m sorry and I don’t want to lie either, so… If it’s a little more general (like this), I’ll gladly answer!
#tag#about me#replies#I'll open up a little bit more eventually so don't worry#these are fun anyways so tag away
