Riddle stared at Harry placidly, hardly looking bothered at the abrupt shift in location. He had the bland expression of someone used to strange occurrences happening around him - like even if a dragon somehow landed in the middle of Diagon Alley, all he'd do was raise an eyebrow.

Harry kind of hated him for that alone.

"You mentioned a job?" Riddle inquired, throwing Harry a rope when he failed to speak.

"Ah, yeah..." he grimaced, glancing at the messy shelves around the store. Anything to avoid having to look at this polished eighteen year old Tom Riddle. "I...need an assistant."

"To...?" Riddle prompted, tilting his head.

Harry's hands fluttered uncertainly, gesturing at their surroundings. "To fix...this. And organise...things."

Shit, that didn't sound believable at all.

Riddle cast his eyes around. "Things," he repeated.

"Books," Harry clarified, grabbing the closest one and holding it up as proof. The stack he had taken it from tumbled to the ground at their feet.

One book fell open and started screaming, expletives exploding out of it.

Harry's magic swelled immediately, slamming it shut and sending it skidding across the floor and under a bookshelf.

They both stared at where it had disappeared to for a moment, then at each other in the resounding silence.

"Yes...I can see that," Riddle said, still infuriatingly polite. His eyes were curious now.

Fuck, Harry actually really would like that dragon right about now.

The Selection AU that nobody asked for so i had to write it. The Selection is well on it's way and Steve Rogers, a Five, is desperate to be chosen. His mother has fallen ill and he doesn’t have enough money to take her to a hospital. If he was chosen he would be promoted to a Three and his mom would receive money while he is at the palace. Prince James Barnes doesn’t even want the Selection. He only agreed to it to save his sister from a loveless marriage with Lord Alexander Pierce. Now he has to deal with 35 people stepping over each other trying to get his attention along with a disappointed father, a distant mother and Natasha Romanov's amusement with the entire ordeal. But hey that blue eyed, blond boy is kinda cute. (You don't have to read the Selection to understand this but it's a good book so you should)
