Overall, it was a very good show. Cinema, if you will. Well done, amazing performances by an incredible cast. HOWEVER: I can’t let some scenes in this last ep go unmentioned for show onlys + lowkey sad they were cut (SPOILERS ig)
1. “All I want,” I said, choking back my tears, “is to see my loving stepfather again. Every time I saw him on TV, calling me a delinquent punk, I knew…somehow…we would be okay. And I know he’ll want to reward each and every person in this beautiful city of Los Angeles with a free major appliance from his store.”
2. “You have made an enemy, godling,” he told me. “You have sealed your fate. Every time you raise your blade in battle, every time you hope for success, you will feel my curse. Beware, Perseus Jackson. Beware.” Would’ve been a nice bit of foreshadowing to titan’s curse
3. The exact move that Percy disarmed Luke in his first sword class. Mostly bc it would’ve made nice foreshadowing to their last fight too. That being said I LOVED how they made Luke and Percy’s relationship MUCH more personal. You can see Luke trying to recruit Percy to his cause and you see Percy agreeing and so does the viewer bc he’s right!! UNTIL we, and Percy, get to his methods. Bc that’s the fundamental difference between them!!
4. They could’ve made Gabe worse tbh , or at least told us how the whole Percy is a fugitive plotline ended; him being the one to accidentally open the box makes sense for the patheticity this iteration of the character exudes, and bc this sally is a lot more assertive, but would’ve been nice to see sally take some actual part in yk *draws finger across neck* him.
5. In that line of thought, “Your mother is a queen among women,” Poseidon said wistfully. “I had not met such a mortal woman in a thousand years.” U CUT THAT?? WTF BRO. though with Poseidon, sally and Percy’s new characterization, I suppose eliminating the uncertainty that Percy and Poseidon had towards each other when they met was necessary.
6. “You did well, Perseus. Do not misunderstand me. Whatever else you do, know that you are mine. You are a true son of the Sea God.” Goes in line with #5 tbh
7. The scorpion. Though I like that annabeth saw the betrayal this time, that’s gotta sting. I’ll let someone else do the analysis
8. THIS SUMMER’S BEAD. would’ve loved to see them explaining why they chose it and Percy getting it.
I’ll add more when I think of more ig feel free to add

Cursed Child rant? as a treat? 👉👈
Oh god. Where to even start. Listen, I know some people enjoy CC and I say more power to you. I'm not here to be the fun police and say what people can and can't like or write fic about or derive meaning from or whatever. But for me, personally, Cursed Child is an absolute mess of the worst kind that irritates me on a profound level.
First off, it's completely inconsistent with the canon characterizations and established rules of world building (and JKR didn't even do that much world building so there wasn't that much to keep track of and yet, they couldn't even bother to do that). I mean, Cedric, who tried to give the Triwizard Cup to Harry doesn't win and that somehow causes him to become a Death Eater??? Huh? It's not just ooc. It's bad storytelling. I mean, even if he was a hugely sore loser why would losing a tournament cause him to join an extremist blood purist paramilitary group? That has nothing to do with him losing. It's stupid and childish and nonsensical and SO bad.
And really? That's the best you can come up with? If the point of that whole thing was the tired trope of 'time travel goes wrong and makes things worse' they could've just had the gang expose Crouch earlier but instead of Voldemort not returning he just ends up returning but not using Harry's blood which allows him to do his original plan of growing his power in secret. And idk. Maybe then he takes over and he kills Harry and Harry doesn't come back. I didn't even put any effort into that. It's a bit dumb and inelegant but it gets the job done without wild character assassination and a lack of logic so profound it would insult the reasoning abilities of a fungus.
But ok, let's judge it as its own vaguely Harry Potter inspired thing rather than as an actual sequel to the canon series. You know what the result is? IT'S STILL BAD. It's just. SO BAD. I don't understand how it's a real thing.
It's like a parody of a bad play. It can't possibly be real. Harry suddenly has a phobia of pigeons? Why??? It's so...stupid. And I'm supposed to take that seriously? What? And the dialogue. The dialogue. "Bad" doesn't even cover it. The fact that "Wow. Squeak. My geekness is a-quivering" is a real actual line in the actual play causes me physical pain. WHO WRITES THAT?! AND THEN LEAVES IT IN THE FINAL DRAFT?!?!?
And Delphi. WHAT EVEN?! She's literally like a parody of a bad fanfic Mary Sue. Down to the blue streak in her hair. But we're supposed to take her seriously? As a villain? Tf? She's like a bad Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way knockoff. The whole play is like an unfunny parody of bad writing. But it's not supposed to be. It actually pretends to be a genuine drama. Which is so much worse. I truly think My Immortal is better. And way funnier.
No effort at all went into the story construction. Characters act incredibly childishly and unrealistically and simplistically. The story doesn't feel like it was written by adults. There's no feeling or depth or emotion. It's all plot contrivances and nauseatingly simplistic writing. It isn't a story. It's just some stuff that happens. Because the writers were just like 'eh it's Harry Potter it'll sell.' And that's not art. That's just churned out content. And it bothers me on such a profound level that they did it and got away with it.
I would be embarrassed to write that for myself, let alone to turn that in as a professional writer. It's so inconsistent with the original story that I legitimately think the 2 guys who wrote it didn't even read the books. They just glanced at the wiki and decided they were good to go. Despite being PAID to do this. How sloppy is that? Not to mention Harry Potter meant so much to so many people who were ecstatic to get more content yet the two clowns who wrote this just skimmed the wiki and then vomited out some of the worst lines ever penned in history and called it a day.

There’s a thing I’m DYING to get out of my chest! I love the series, I love the characters, but like…they’re changing all of the plots, but probably won’t change the one that, at this point, I know that a lot of people want to change.
1 - Let’s start with Galadriel. We have the appendix and all, and it’s stated on it that she, Celeborn and Celebrian were at Eregion at the time that fake treacherous blondie called Annatar was. They changed at least 70% of her plot to fit the “when the sun sets we are both the same” agenda with Sauron. I like that they got on a different way, don’t get me wrong, and I also love the dynamic of “light and darkness” but it’s really unfair when we think that they take some (a lot) liberties to this plot, that is literally ALL done on the appendix, but they don’t change other things.
2 - King Durin…that man was supposed to die on third age. THIRD. And the Balrog should’ve happened later and in Moria…so they can decide to kill off a character and make him appear on an age that he isn’t even part of, but they cannot change the fate of a character whose death isn’t even mentioned on the appendix? Be so for real.
3 - I mean, everyone knew it was Gandalf. I knew it was him from the moment I saw his hair. The thing is, they took another liberty and made a whole plot to a character that want supposed to be there, but they cannot change that specific plot that I will talk about soon?
4 - Numenor. Pharazon. THE FAITHFUL. Now I want y’all to see it because they made Pharazon’s plot be like “I’m gonna mix his plot with his father’s plot, with Atanamir’s plot and Adunakhor’s plot and I’m gonna put a bit of his grandfather there, too” and it’s annoying because things are happening too fast in Numenor. I have the impression that all of it happened in a month, which is different from other plots that seem to be longer. In a few days that man has buried his uncle, usurped his cousin, traumatized his son, almost killed off his cousin’s boyfriend, almost killed off his cousin, trapped her into HER FATHER’S OLD PRISON/ROOM, made all of the faithfuls go through hell, imprisoned her or made her bow to him and now he’s on his way to make everything Miriel made in season one, but with the “I’m evil af” difference. Like, she was usurped for this and they are “omg Pharazon you’re such a baddie 🤪🥰”
5 - The timeline in Numenor! I don’t get why they made some choices, but like, if the faithful were already kinda apart from the society, why didn’t they make the exile before? The exile and a lot of those things happens waaayyy before the series and they could’ve stuck to it since it’s on the appendix. I’m gonna be adamant about the appendix, y’all better not even mention the Silmarillion to me bc those two men said they had the right to four books and four books only…and none of them are the Silmarillion. So they should stick to at least some of the things that are stated on it. I’m not a book purist, I am only stating that’s really unfair that they made all of this changes to characters and plots, but won’t change something like the destiny of a character who is only mentioned twice and I can ASSURE you guys that her death isn’t mentioned on the books they have the rights to.
6 - They are making everything twice and that’s pissing me off too because I don’t know what to expect next. Sauron went twice to Eregion, might go twice to Numenor, might become this fog or whatever tf that thing was twice, Galadriel almost got him twice, the orcs might leave him twice, all of the leaders are saying shit like “my place is here” instead of fucking getting away from those doomed places. Everything is being recycled to other plots. Isildur not getting the girl and having to leave her because of Kemen…his father having to leave his girl because of Pharazon…it’s getting a little bit too much parallels and not much different things.
7 - Earien, Kemen and some scenes we should have. I don’t really like Earien, I hate Kemen, but like…he killed her friend and she doesn’t know about it? We didn’t get a scene of her mentioning Valandil after his death and we also cannot actually draw the line of where she stands. She witnessed kind of a miracle with Miriel and seemed far more gentle with her on the sea trial thing. She’s also helping her father get out of this alive. But where does she stands? She isn’t a faithful, ofc, but she’s isn’t a corrupted thing like Pharazon and Kemen either. The thing is, she helps both sides at a point after royally fucking everything up. They literally made her be one of the main responsible to Miriel’s destiny and like…will she ever feel bad for it? And don’t tell me she isn’t responsible bc that girl decided to help usurp the queen, ignored what the late king said about faith, took the palantiri and gave it to Pharazon, who now used it to accuse Miriel of siding with Sauron…which caused “omg I just had this brilliant idea” to pop on Pharazon’s mind and now the faithful are being imprisoned or exiled. Yeah, she has daddy issues and so does Isildur and Anarion and none of them are ou there usurping Queens and helping the devil. Y’all also better not start with me about “oh but she isn’t obliged to believe in this religion, she shouldn’t be okay with her brother dying because of this” because: Isildur decided to go, he wasn’t forced. None of the Numenorians were forced to do anything. She lives on this Island, she DESCENDS from the same lineage Miriel does, which is ELROS lineage. The island was gifted by the valar and they just took her new step mom for a spin. Her lineage lives at least 200 years and y’all are telling me that in a world of elves, dwarves, rings of fucking power who can make things heal and whatever, the absurd thing is a palantiri? Be so fr. And I’m gonna say it…if they make a redemption arc for that girl and let her survive the fall of Numenor, I’m gonna be royally pissed. There’s no way they’re going to save that one and won’t save the fucking queen whose death isn’t even mentioned on the appendix.
8 - Now I’m gonna talk about Miriel, my Queen and Elendil’s wife. I’m sorry, but they are making her go through all of this hell for what? Because everyone who is going through actual hell on the series is surviving, and if they don’t plan on making her survive, they could at least give her a fucking break. Her father lost his throne, got sick, she got kinda of manipulated by the blondie, she lost her vision, some of her people died and she blames herself, her father died, she got slapped on the face by a random woman on her fathers funeral, she lost her throne, her freedom, became a prisoner on her own kingdom and on HER FATHER’S OLD ROOM, her boyfriend and now she also lost her free will. Not to mention that, if they try to make things more alike to one book than the one they actually have the rights to, she might be forced to marry that idiot who happens to be her cousin. Safe to say that Cynthia and I have very different visions of “okay” bc the last time Miriel had peace was when she was a one month old fetus on her mother’s womb. Why all of this trouble to make her die at the end? And I’m being so real now.
9 - Like, they changed a lot of things. A real fucking lot of things. And some VERY important things. And they cannot change her death? I swear, if she was so important to book narrative, the appendix would say more about her, but the only things there are basically “Tar Palantir had a daughter, Tar Miriel, she should’ve been queen, but his nephew seized the scepter” and that’s it. Her death isn’t there, it can be avoided, and yet they’re going down that road with this character when they literally invented 1000 ways of going out of the time line and narrative with other characters? I’m not gonna say what it seems to me, but yeah…

✧*:・゚✧ merlin! is that SEAN TEALE? no, it’s just DEIMOS TRAVERS the SIXTH YEAR SLYTHERIN ( PUREBLOOD ). we’ve heard rumors that HE ( CIS MALE ) is PRINCIPLED, DECISIVE & OBSERVANT but can also be very RUTHLESS, HATEFUL & SCHEMING. if i had to pick one song to describe HIM it would be YOU’RE GONNA GO FAR, KID BY THE OFFSPRING. Good luck with the rest of your time at Hogwarts.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: child abuse, murder mention, torture mention, snake mention.
BASICS.
name. Deimos ( terror ) Pythios ( to rot ) Travers.
age. Sixteen / Seventeen.
year. Sixth year.
house. Slytherin.
wand. Elm wood, Dragon Heartstring core, 12″ long.
patronus. He cannot produce one, but if he were able, it would be a black mamba.
boggart. His father, disappointed in him, wand pointed at his chest.
zodiac. Capricorn.
sexuality. Heterosexual.
pets. The family Owl, Hermes.
BACKGROUND.
deimos was born january 8th to the less-than loving pythios travers and his wife, daniela travers (nee marquez). their marriage had been born of controversy of the likes which never really mattered that much to anyone - daniela, recently widowed and now a british citizen, had been purportedly sleeping with a number of influential pureblood figures (an accusation which her father resented), and the only reasonable solution was to seek a marriage with such an influential figure - pythios, with the recent crumbling of his betrothal, was the only natural choice. (of course, nobody truly cared - but it was an accusation which the marquez family sought to crush, for no other reason than protecting their standing, as though it would be damaged - they were new to the pureblood circles in england, and had very little standing in most circles, regardless.)
[tw: allusion to child abuse as such, deimos was the child that was bounced between parents, of whom held no true interest in him, even from a young age, the expectations were piled upon him. his purpose was to absolve the reputations of his parents, and maintain the standing in pureblood society they knew they deserved. he wasn’t ever allowed to be a child - there were always hands on his shoulders, turning him away from the sight of other sacred 28 children being allowed to play quidditch or even walk around the grounds. deimos was sheltered, molded into the image of his namesake, and was often found at his fathers’ side, observing the way the travers family business worked (they traded, most often, with the famed borgin and burke’s, and had a quiet storefront hidden in knockturn alley, dedicated to the research into dark spells and the ancient dark texts from as early as the 5th century, only open to those who knew the location well enough.) end of tw]
[tw: child abuse deimos did not grow up loved, nor did he grow up spoiled. he grew up with a rigid routine, going to bed hungry if he stepped out of line, receiving a sharp smack to his cheek from his mother if he said something out of line, and the only times he can remember any of them having smiles on their faces were at the pureblood galas they had to attend, like clockwork. if anyone were to ask deimos about his childhood, he’d rarely ever tell them the truth. he’d tell the stories of working with his uncle in the travers family store and of how his father is the reason he is who he is today, but he’d rarely tell the stories of how he would be locked away in his room, how he’d not see his mother for days until she showed up for the necessary public outings. his childhood left him with unresolved issues - not, per say, an over-inflated sense of self-worth (although, you could argue that his position on blood purity extends to the superiority of himself), but a rather rigid sense of what things should be, how the world should be, and a tendency to find the negative in everything, whilst seemingly separating himself from reality. end of tw]
if there was one person in his life that he would point to as the one who would show him affection or any form of love, it would be his grandmother, lachesis. she helped to raise him, when his mother wasn’t around - arguably, she’s the only person he truly gives much of a damn about, although she was still cold, although less so than his father and less so than his mother. she was not the type to give him extra helpings of food or to caress his cheek for doing well. she was the type to not punish him if he got a word wrong, the type to leave him a book at the end of his bed as a gift for doing well. she was distant, but she was more present than the others. going to hogwarts was something pythios wished deimos could have avoided. it was only after his mother reminded him how it could potentially complicate things if he was sent to durmstrang that they allowed his admission to hogwarts. it’s as far from a home as deimos can imagine. his home is cold, but it’s still his. hogwarts is far too welcoming, in his eyes, to those who do not deserve it. he was sorted into slytherin, and of course, feels some form of kinship with salazar slytherin himself. he lives by principles. his entire life, up until this point, has been increasingly structured. his grades are high, his work ethic, seemingly, even higher, and interest in dark magic a little too strong to be much other than incredibly troubling.
TRAVERS FAMILY TRADITIONS.
Everyone is familiar with the naming traditions of the Black family. From Andromeda to Sirius to Walburga, each name is chosen for the fact they are all names of constellations. The Travers family have always taken their names from Ancient Greek mythology. The first recorded Travers, Adrastos ( named for the figure in Ancient Greek mythology, who was a king of Argos ), was the proponent of this tradition - which has been upheld ever since. Each Travers male is named for a figure in Greek mythology, while also retaining the name of his father. Each Travers female is named for two figures in Greek mythology, as is tradition.
EXAMPLES: Andromache ( derived from man; derived from battle ) Ismene ( knowledge ) Travers, the first shop-keep of the Travers family business, Pythios ( to rot ) Patroclus ( glory of the father ) Travers, Deimos’ father & original member of the Knights of Walpurgis.
Once a Travers turns seventeen, they receive their own portion of the land on which they were raised as well as unsupervised access to the family vault. This is customary, and has only ever been revoked thrice - Linux Travers lost his access to the family vault and land when he married a muggle ( as a result, his children were targets until they moved to America sometime in the late 1890s ), Endymion Travers lost his when he became a member of the International Confederation of Wizards ( sometime in the 1920s ) and became an open supporter of muggle integration, and Clytemnestra Travers lost hers for falling in love with a muggleborn ( long, long ago. )
The Travers family have had a series of homes in their long, long history. The three they currently own are the Travers family home in rural Wales, the summerhouse in Italy, and the springhouse in London ( which has, undeniably, become more of a home to his father in the previous years, due to it’s closeness to Knockturn Alley. )
RAMBLINGS / FACKS.
guilty of being prejudiced against p much everyone???
the only people he doesn’t outright hate are other slytherin’s but even then some of those are probably people who just annoy tf out of him
the lack of Chill is scary ( he’s... a terrifying person )
can hold a grudge for a v v long time
his childhood is a HUGE part of who he is even though he’ll deny it
he remembers, vividly, spending hours and hours and hours pouring over books in the travers family library to impress his father only to get a brief glance in his direction when he tells his father what he’s learnt
he’s learnt, by now, that his father only will be proud of him if he upholds the expectations laid on his shoulders
his mother actually isn’t a death eater but is v much someone who is a purist and has done nothing to stop the eventual integration of deimos into the death eaters / knights of walpurgis
learned how to make a lot of potions at a v young age, usually because his father lacked the ability to care about making them properly and wanted to take that Responsibility off his shoulders
sticks in a v v tiny circle of fellow purebloods + future death eaters
has a soft spot for, like, three people
[tw: child abuse, injury (sorta) still has scars from his father using magic to beat him when he was a child end of tw]
[tw: murder, torture actually found out his father was a murderer earlier this year + was guilty of all the accusations ( unproven ) which emerged in the years before he was born + honestly inherited his hateful side from him
an entitled asshole who lives and breathes blood purity and believes wholeheartedly in the death eaters ( or, perhaps, believes in the violence they preach being the best way to remind people that the purebloods are the ones who deserve all the control )
literally the WORST he supports both torture + murder + probably takes part in the former just as much as the latter before the end of the first war + he’s sent to azkaban for murder end of tw]
throw actual trash at him, please, he deserves it (#trashbagtravers)

I feel like I’m surrounded by a bunch of religious purists whenever I’m on this website with the whole “fiction affects reality” crap. I remember seeing someone straight up say they didn’t care for any strife/drama/etc in fiction because they have enough to deal with irl
But what gives you the right to speak for everyone on the matter? what gives you the right to make a blanket statement that we don’t need Dark Themes in fiction?
Which leads me back to my first point, the age old: “fiction affects reality” claim. I remember this post that brought up the issue of sharks & how Jaws was directly responsible for shark slaughter, so obviously this point has been made. It’s a little amusing how these people don’t want to debate the topic either, probably because they know they’re wrong
More often than not, this is because of ships. & more often than not? This is because fans are waging new age ship wars & trying to take the moral high ground in an attempt to get rid of the ship competition. How can you argue with the topic of morality, after all? If you do, you’re obviously a bad person & you’re normalizing or supporting x-topic
Nevermind these points:
Move over Freud: literary fiction is the best therapy
Writing Fiction is My Anti-Depressant
How Literature Saved My Psyche: Attending a Book-Themed Therapy Session at the Center for Fiction
Exploring the health benefits of fiction therapy
Why Fictional Media Doesn’t Desensitize Us to Real-Life Violence
Your brain on fiction
Blaming Video Games for School Shootings Is Misguided, Dangerous
No, Mr Trump, video games do not cause mass shootings
Congratulations, your misguided rhetoric has also landed you in the same field as Trump with these claims. Instead of blaming the actual problem in the debate of Gun Control, Trump decides to take the common scapegoat through the ages & blame fiction once again. These accusations had found their way into news headlines over & over again, only to- guess what? Get debunked, over & over again.
With games like Call of Duty & shows like Game of Thrones so mainstream in our culture (Nerd culture in general being mainstream now), it’s hard to imagine how we have actually managed to stay ‘civil’ in light of all the violence we’re exposed to since fiction has such a mind controlling affect on humanity.
What you’re actually thinking of- when you claim that fiction affects reality- is something like, say, my case: clinging on to fan favorite Port.ga.s D. A.ce from the popular O.ne Pi.ece series & getting his tattoo on my arm, wearing clothes to adopt his aesthetic in my public appearances, & even using his personality points as a guide to better myself & not be so outwardly hostile to people. Live with no regrets; inspirations, people finding themselves in this dark reality that our dangerous fiction has apparently created.
The censorship reminds me more of that claim in the popular Ava.ta.r: T.he L.as.t Ai.rbe.n.der show of There’s no war in Ba Sing Se. We take out the ‘bad’ things in fiction like violence & strife & drama & all those things that squick you tf out, & we focus on our slice of life, nothing-ever-goes-wrong, happy bullshit to deny the bad things in the world that are already happening, then we take away healthy coping mechanisms for victims. We take away the relief of realizing that we are not alone in our struggles, take away the lights in our already terrible world-- all because you couldn’t stand characters A & B together in fandom because it interfered with your own ship of A & C.
Here’s a good idea, just from someone who actively takes part in the brewing revolution (ofc, I can only speak for American issues, as that is where I live): Puerto Rico is still suffering after Irma, guys. We have a tyrannical cheeto in office. Flint is still without clean water. Lummi Nation is demanding the return of Tokitae & SeaWorld’s top investor is claiming that they see potential for the brand to flourish in China despite how much progress has been made here to better the lives of the animals & ensure that a tragedy like this doesn’t happen again. Bears Ears & other national monuments are getting shrunk for the sake of oil- sacred tribal lands to my people, but why should Native people matter to you when there’s the more important issue of fictional characters?
Florida decide that porn was the bigger health risk to our youth, rather than guns. ‘Cause obvs some idiot’s going to break into a school & start slapping Stormy Daniels’ work all over the building. Kinder Morgan’s getting expanded upon, while Trump’s green-lighting arctic drilling. Black people are still facing terrible violence from police & the BLM movement is labeled as a terrorist group before the NRA by our general public. It’s easier for us to claim that black people will violently attack white people for no reason outside of a Black Panther show than it is for us to confess that most of our home grown terrorists are white christian males, but that’s none of my damn business.
We have a chance for a better tomorrow, by getting out there & taking action instead of snubbing the rest of the world the way we snubbed Bernie Sanders in the primaries because we can’t get off our asses & stop indulging our own nihilism long enough to do anything. It’s just so much easier to appeal to the echo chamber space you create in-fandom, driving people to suicide or isolation because someone shipped your favorite character with the wrong person, god forbid.
Think I’m exaggerating? I told myself that I wouldn’t respond because it wasn’t worth my time, but I’ve been tickled to death that this happened. So, I made a post about why there was some old ship war crap tagged that was l.aw.lu vs ac.e.lu ‘cause we really don’t need this negativity in our lives. A day later I receive an anon: (x)
re a.ce.l.u vs l.aw.l.u: we cant have both because one of them is in.c.est, and that is just not the same/not ok. same for s.ab.o.l.u and s.ab.o.a.c.e. they are brothers. they see themselves AS brothers. stop ignoring that just so you can justify shipping it to yourself. all three ASLs would be extremely disappointed in the number of fans who ignore their familial ties just so they can feel better about drawing/writing them boning each other. please stop being gross.
Yeah, someone actually took the time to come onto my page, into my inbox, type that out, & then clicked send like I was going to somehow see the ‘error’ of my ways for shipping characters with chemistry, strong ties, & for seeing my personal loves/experiences in these characters.
idk about you, sweetheart, but I’m sorry that you’re so bent out of shape about this whole ship deal that you feel the need to even use these characters as your personal sock-puppets to try to shame someone for something that absolutely is not incest, & blatantly ignoring the childhood friends-to-lovers trope. You’re also completely disregarding the fact that Oda doesn’t care for romance in OP, this isn’t about romance it’s about adventure, & that I’m going to find my queer rep where I can get it. There is no share of blood between these three boys, & their brotherhood is strictly self-proclaimed.
Nor do I fetishize it, & have spoken out against the ‘creepy older brother’ trope that I’ve seen in Ac.e.L.u works, but you wouldn’t know that.
I also hope you know that your IP’s been blocked too... & that I will not respond to any anon hate after I make this post, because honestly? I have bigger things to worry about in this lifetime instead of wasting away behind a screen and attacking people over fictional characters. Y’know, I’ve got a horse rescue, my job, orca research, pipeline protests, gun violence rallies- all the things that actually matter in the world that you could also put your energy towards, but you choose to make a mockery of our revolution by acting like you’re making a difference because you’re yelling at someone over fictional characters.
Whatever deep seated issues you have, I hope you find peace within yourself at some point & come to love yourself. Clearly, you’re burning & rotting on the inside & I hope you get over that/work through it. In the mean time, you can stay way the hell away from me, because suddenly I’m inspired to write some raunchy Ace/Luffy smut.

Hi!
I felt like returning to music blogging and microblogging because I am slowly losing my mind in quarantine and need to channel some of my energy.
As a person who consumes all types of music all day long and who’s had numerous music blogs before, including the infamous now-defunct Toronto music blog: theblanketreviewer.com (RIP: 2009-2016) — I'm no stranger to geeking out about all sorts of tunes at any time of the day or night. I’m also no stranger to a fucking run-on sentence, or a curse word.. so if those things bother you. 🤷🏾♀️ — can’t help you, sis!
Anyway, my name is Chantel Nx Nouseforaname.. but that’s not important at the moment — I want to talk about what I like so that we can enter this weird winding rabbit hole together.
When it comes to music, I like everything. It’s funny because I know that you read that and you rolled your eyes... Most people roll their eyes when people say that they like “everything” re: music, so that’s a natural reaction.
When I say that I like everything, what I mean is that —in childhood I came to discover that I love sound, melody, and harmony in all its forms. I love the brutality and the onslaught of certain music. I love soulful sounds. I love passionate sounds, and pensive lyrical content.
I love so many genres intensely, and yes — eventually we’ll get into what kinds.. blah blah blah. I’m by no means a purist tho. I am not a record-keeping, crate-digging, must-keep-my-collection-pristine-buy-everything-on-vinyl kind of woman. Although I love those people; I ain’t got time for that process. I’m a nerd. I love tech and the fact that I can stream anything. It thrills me that I can listen to any diverse thing I want to listen to in the snap of a finger. Yes, it harms the industry, etc etc. No, I’m not going to get political here because this ain’t that kind of blog my guy. Plus, the creations of these systems that harm and steal from artists, is not my black girl fault. If anything, I want to bring more eyes and more streams and more purchases to artists. I just want to enjoy my music and listening experience.
I live for the fact that I can hear a new record by a known unknown from my hood in the middle of the night... on new release night! Shout out to all the local Toronto artists doing it big! Ahhh, I miss shows.. and I miss seeing these local artists, ugh! FUCKING QUARANTINE!!!! I digress... I love that I can go from Downchild Blues Band to Aphex Twin to Sistars to Einaudi to Steel Pulse to Junius to Nusrat Ali Khan and Leontyne Price in a couple clicks .. it makes me excited, it titillates me. I won’t apologize for going on a world tour with this streaming shit!
Alright, alright — that’s enough for a first post. I’m giving it all up without giving you anything to listen to and I have so much to share. ✨
I also like to read just as much as I love to listen to music and you can find me writing about some of the books I love and sharing some reading notes at @thingsreadinthedark / which I’ll cross-post with to here and from here to there yadda yadda from time to time. If you want to catch me on them Goodreads tips, you can find me on GR right here.
Your girl got that hyperactivity condition so um... look for lots of content in the future. Alright alright. ✨
Yo, I can’t leave this first post in my sound diary without a track shared. Here’s something that was giving me life today.
Dark and spacey with some aerated vocals and a scatter of standing-outside-the-club-looking-in emotional breakbeats, I wanted to climb into this song like I was stepping into a warm bath and lay tf down. I wanted this song to cover me like the sand in that Sponge Bob gif. The one below👇🏾. Anyway, I love the song, Kllo did that!!
Catch me again. ✌️🏾

31 Days of Spiritual Journaling: Day 3
(Super old ritual photo I took years ago and then instagrammed tf out of. Also today should be day 4 but I’ve been sickly since yesterday and it has now downgraded from death to trash so here we are) Day 3: Teach/describe one of your key spiritual practices. First up, you need something that smells nice: essential oils, diffusers, wax warmers, and incense are all good. As far as I’m concerned you could use a car air freshener, it’s your life. For me, it’s incense - nothing tops the subtle buzz I get from lighting good frankincense. Cone, stick, or resin are fine: cone is the least messy but sometimes the manufacturer goofs and the cone fails on you, stick is the most reliable and usually cheapest but also the ash falls far and wide (how??), and resin is actually heavenly but also very high maintenance and can char and go from legit af to funky very quickly if you don’t know what you’re doing. An aside: some people get really weird about “high quality” incense (AKA, none made with dung as a filler). My thing is that my distant (pretend) ancestors Milda and Lech were probably planting their cabbages in cow shit and then offering up a head or two to Perkunas so honestly I don’t see the issue - just live with the means you have and ignore the purists. It’s like this: if the choice between $10+ incense and a $2 pack of stick incense plus some ramen and a bag of frozen veggies that’ll stretch you dinner for a week is something you might have to consider, just go cheap m8. And before Purist #7 creeps around their curtain to indignantly declare they never meant it like that, well ya wrote it that way so live with it. Next, you need some mood lighting. I prefer unscented votives or tealights for this. Parrafin is cheap but depending on who makes it, it can have a strange odor. Again, looking at Purist #12 this time, it literally doesn’t fucking matter if you light your candles and incense with flint or a flamethrower (other than safety, obviously) unless you are trying to set a specific mood. I use one of those lighters with the triggers because matches wreck me tf out and smol lighters are likewise anxiety-inducing. Then, you need whatever it is that you can use as a focus. Whether it’s a tarot/oracle card, a written or typed prayer, a book, a picture, etc. doesn’t matter. Something that says “hey it’s That Time” is enough. Lastly, some good music (Danheim is my aesthetic) or a guided meditation you can find on YouTube is helpful. Definitely pre-screen these. And now you just chill. Relax, if you can. Let whatever come be there. Lay down, sit in a recliner, or sit on the floor. And breathe. You aren’t emptying so much as rolling with the waves. Sometimes they’ll make you cry. Sometimes you wont’ feel anything. Usually, for me, it’s just deep peace and quiet (when I take time to do it). I may close my eyes or I may get lost in the candle flame. When you’re ready, you may want to wrap things up with tarot or an oracle card draw, or a nice beverage of your choice. Honoring ancestors as a closer and/or a god/the Universe is my preference. If I’m doing a ritual, I almost always dedicate the candles and incense to who/whatever but if it’s just a meditation, I may or may not. In my practice, ritual is just additional steps on top of what I laid out above and the inclusion of an offering (food or drink) with words of praise, usually written down so I can recite them. I may add more details here and there depending on my mood but I tend to keep things really simple. I’ve tried the more complex stuff and it’s immersion-breaking for me. If I decide to do spellwork, even if it’s spontaneous and halfway through That Time, I’ll almost always mentally cast a circle. Otherwise, I may or may not depending on how vulnerable I feel that day. In a pinch though, I’ll just meditate or pull out tarot cards or oracle cards without anything else. It’s not exactly necessary, it’s just very nice and comforting. To me, the setting is what makes the difference between a hobby and a practice.

Podcast 191: AnD [Inner Surface Music][ +Interview]
Mancunian duo AnD rose to prominence in 2011 following a slew of ground breaking releases characterised by their refurbished, stripped back and Dave Clarke-inspired brandof techno. True vinyl purists, the two maintain fierce analogue production principals and showcase this in their heavy hitting live show.
AnD’s modernistic approach has been endorsed by trailblazing UK imprints Project Squared and Idle Hands, whilst their purist ideologies have been employed by the visionary Horizontal Ground, Black Sun Records, Electric Deluxe Repitch labels. Meanwhile covert productions on their own self-titled white label series has seen the pair embrace the shadowy outskirts of techno, furthered by a collaboration with Headless Horseman, Sunil Sharpe and D.Carbone for the clandestine Brothers imprint.
Together with Tom Dicicco, the three artists established Inner Surface Music back in 2011,which has already garnered support from the likes of Regis, Surgeon, Lucy, Norman Nodge, DVS1 and many more.
TF: Tell us something about you. Where did you studied and who influenced you to explore musical processes?
AnD: We both have quite different backgrounds Andrew studied graphic design and Dimitri studied electrical engineering. Music was something that came to both of us quite early on Dimitri played several musical instruments as a child and Andrew was collecting records and music from his early teens and started to dj at 17. With djing and producing music we both got sucked in and when we first met up to write music together 15years ago its been the same ever since. We both influence each other and this comes across in the work, two peoples creativity becoming something different.
TF: When you look back to your career with all its highs and lows, can you imagine having done things differently? Is it more fate or choice?
AnD: No one should ever regret what they have done, we all make our choices and should stick to them. We are happy we made the choices we have and worked hard to create a body of work, this is the only way to approach anything.
TF: You haven’t given much interviews and you remain quite discreet despite of the recognition your productions and contribution to the techno culture. Do you think that an excessive media exposure tends to cause harm to music?
AnD: Definitely puts a different type of focus on everything, most of the time it´s all just a big pile of bullshit when it comes to social media. People who seem to take care about what they do in all art forms, don't get the recognition they deserve. People don't really care! but when people post selfies and egotistical posts everyone is in for the good time!
Sometimes media also play things safe, they say they support the real underground but a lot of the time its hard for talented new artists to get features on their sites or magazines. The truth is if it doesn't sell copies then they don't want to know. It would be nice to see journalism and writing taken to a creative form again supporting a far wider spectrum of musical releases and not just the next big thing or the flavour of the day.
TF: Which aspects of sound do you examine recently? Is for you important the impression that your music produces on the audience?
AnD: We are always trying to push ourselves to find new ways of working or new machines to create a different type of sound than we have made before. Its probably we just both get bored too quickly and we will write a batch of tracks in a certain style for a week or two and then move on again to something different again.
For us its very important that when we play our music has a connection with the crowd and we can see that its physically moving people on the floor. Go Hard Or Go Home! :)
TF: What do you think is the role of new technology in composing music? Do you rely more on digital or analog sound?
AnD: There are so many new technologies all of the time its very easy to get lost in it all. It always comes down to personal preference when it comes to work flow and what you use to achieve this. We like to work more on analog machines and then record into the computer. We find this is the easiest way of coming up with original ideas and not just repeating ourselves, recording the take live is never perfect but also add a lot of character to the sound.
TF: What’s your favourite track to play live and why?
AnD: We don't actually play our tracks live, we always have a live improvisation on stage. Again this allows us to be in the moment when we perform live. We don't have any idea of what will happen so we go with flow and keep things open so each live show is unique.
TF: Can you tell us more about ''AnD005'' and "? What does it bring to your work? What are the perspectives you want to explore through this?
AnD: Each AnD release always has a certain concept behind the sound for the ep. With 005 we wanted to have a big and bold rave sound that looked to the future. Not to just copy old sounds but to work out how to incorporate old sounds in new ways.
TF: What is the first synthesizer you have ever played? Do you have your favourite instruments or devices?
AnD: Our first synthesizers where the Korg MS20 and Korg Electribe EMX1 they both really good starting points. The electric was the first one with the valves and it had a good variety of distortion and saturation effects with it and with the valve on top it was a lot of fun. Also the ribbon strip was super easy to program arps and sequences on the fly. The Korg MS20 is one of the best mono synths ever, and has a wide palette of timbres. Plus the semi modular patching means its a beast you can program whatever type of sound you like, its a great synth to learn synthesis with.
TF: Our typical question ... any book or movie that you would like to recommend to the public to feed your creative side?
AnD: Yes one book that was very inspiring was "The KLF Chaos, Magic and The Band Who Burned A Million Pounds" by John Higgs.
A very interesting biography and look into the world of KLF concepts on dadaism, chaos theory, synchronicity, magic, punk, rave, the alchemic symbolism of Dr Who and the special power of the number 23.
TF: To say goodbye, what can you tell us about the mix you publish with us? Any experience during the creative process?
AnD: The podcast we have made for you is a representation of what we have been playing on the dance floor at the minute. A mixture of techno, rave and hardcore sounds with the AnD bump :) We hope you enjoy it!
TF: Thank you guys!

book 10 out of 10. box and sleeve 9 out of 10. plastic autobot book holder 4 out of 10. Glad i got it! I love transformers and from one fan to another.... just buy the d@#! thing. The book is the meat and potatoes of this package and its worth it. Great art, well written and there are pictures in here i have never seen anywhere else. The sleve covering the box this comes in is fantastic. The plastic autobot book holder is not going to impress anyone. Its weak and flimsy and the sound.. well that wont impress anyone either. It is however a good looking peice of merchandise when hung on the wall like it can also do. Over all im glad i have this to add to my collection as any transformer fan would be. Go to Amazon
Dive deepr into transformer universe origin!!! This is a must have for any transformer fan that wants to dive deeper in the origin of how the transformer universe came to be. This is a high quality product with a really cool gimmick that has a transforming case locking away this hardcover book. Go to Amazon
The case makes a neat wall piece but is made from plastic so will probably not hold up to a great deal of handling and repeated If you are a transformers collector this is definatly worth getting for the book alone. A very interesting history fill in on the past transformers. Be aware though this history is based on the Tranformers Prime version of the characters not on the original 80's characters. The case makes a neat wall piece but is made from plastic so will probably not hold up to a great deal of handling and repeated use. Go to Amazon
My son has been into transformers since he was 3 and was mesmerized about the history of the transformers provided and the nice My 11 year old son purchased this book with money that he got for his birthday and he absolutely loves it! My son has been into transformers since he was 3 and was mesmerized about the history of the transformers provided and the nice pictures provided in the book as well. This is an phenomenal buy for the ultimate transformer lover and you will be amazed at the awesome packaging case to keep the book secure! Go to Amazon
A gift from Alpha Trion Let's just say I had a fangirl attack when I opened this up...And it did not dissapoint. The case, which opens up to reveal the book, feels a little flimsy so be careful with it, but I have it mounted on my wall (it has the tack hole in the back for that) so it doesn't get damaged. The book has beautiful art and detailed information from the creation of the Thirteen Primes to the Earthfall. If you love Transformers, this is a must have! Go to Amazon
A nice read into the history of the Primes Im a fan of the transformers mythology and when I found out the were publishing the Covenant of Primus I just had to buy it. The artwork is very easy on the eyes and the story of the Primes was fascinating. For all the transformers fans out there this book is definitely a must have. Go to Amazon
As a fan... Book was awesome. Loved the photos. Only downfall is the actual plastic holder. It's VERY VERY flimsy. The "sound" that comes out sounds awful like it's coming out of a broken speaker. I thought paying 60 bucks on this they would spend more attention to things like that. I've also bought the Sith Holocron and it was the same price as this and it was a way better product. It had moving parts and the sound was awesome. The book was smaller but very detailed. Go to Amazon
Rad Must for any TF fan as I bought 2 and didn't open the other one in hopes it is worth some money later on so I don't have to work the rest of my life :) Go to Amazon
Oh my Primus I love this book Giant autobot symbol rules Five Stars Perfect gift for the Transformer "Purist" Cheap case, great book amizing book Great gift for any Transformer fan! Five Stars YOU WILL NOT REGRET BUYING THIS Prefect for a Transformers Fan
