Ars Paradoxica school au but it's a high school where all the kids are obsessed with the drama in the science and maths block.

I have a rough outline for the first two arcs of the plot but don't know where to go from there.

Mr Partridge is the head of Maths, Mr Barlowe also works there too and both their wives are quite involved with the school for various reasons ( I haven't decided whether I actually want them working there or not yet).

Dr Grissom showed up and got immediately promoted to head of science, the rumours as to how vary between her bribing the headteacher or being a time traveling scientist with knowledge far ahead of the current time. Or maybye she's just good at her job.

Mr Wyatt works there too along side Ms Roberts, who's happy to finally be able to teach instead of constantly being on supply duty.

The school ends up getting shut down when some government guy shows up and one of the Chemistry teachers commits arson.

it was obvious to her that maybe the tease had been taken as a slight. it would figure that he'd take it literally, but she hoped that he had enough context clues to realize it was just a joke. a poke at how he seemed to vehemently be avoiding getting a checkup when he so clearly needed one. arms folded slighted as she looked at him shaking her head and rolling her eyes at the science officer.

"a scan," she says slowly. "is just to make sure all your hormone levels are stable. you know, as well as i, we can find a hint as to what's wrong by seeing what is out of flux. if everything's normal then you can go on your way dealing with it however you like and even throw in an 'i told you so'. "

"if its something serious," she tacks on, head tilting towards the sickbay doors. " you let me do a thorough check. deal?"

He sleeps more than most Vulcans, meditates daily, consumes the required caloric intake for his energy expenditure and indulges in physical activity to maintain well-being.

anything (preferably ya but open to any age range) set in New Zealand/Aotearoa?

You know, I know Paula Boock is from New Zealand, and I think that Dare Truth or Promise is set there, but I'm not 100% sure. Similarly, AJ Fitzwater wrote a great post about NZ authors for the site: https://lgbtqreads.com/2020/04/06/queer-speculative-aotearoa-new-zealand-a-guest-post-by-aj-fitzwater/ but I don't know if the books are actually set there. Anyone know any for sure?

okay, so. might be controversial but i do not want the dust jackets (as that really what the extra book cover is called? i thought it wass a boock sleeve or something lol) on my books. they annoy me.

anyway, i still have the one from the trigun manga and i was wondering if anyone has any idea of what i could so with them in terms of using them for crafts? they are pretty neat actually.

and googling/searching for ideas has me so annoyed. the stuff i get suggested isn't even close to what i asked for

I'm sorry for being weird but this thought just came to me and now I need answers - how do you actually pronounce buddie? Because me being german, and never having had to say it out loud, I always read it with u like in book. But obviously Buck isn't pronounced "Boock". So for y'all it's probably buddie like it rhymes with "muddy"?

I'm floored. If this is true, it's leaving me more in shambles than the last episode. I'd have to relearn thinking that word. Man. Why did I have to have this thought.

Indigo Boock: Oh yeah, Bobby nailed it haha. We’ve got a scene later in the expansion where Zojja and another character share a very raw, tender moment together. Both Felicia and Sharon Muthu (her counterpart in this scene) brought their absolute best to the table here. It’s a tough relationship to land: a bond that’s years in the making, but we’re only witnessing that bond through how these characters interact with one another. It’s like going to meet your partner’s friends; they all have history, and while we’re (probably) welcome to listen in, we’re observing years of friendship and relationship development.

Most teachers do warn, by talking about the story themes. Right?

That would mean that they had to

a) give a fuck about their students

and

b) be aware of themeses of teh boock

and

c) not live so far up their own privileged ass that they might be aware that something in a book might be upsetting to people that aren't as privileged as they are ...

Good thing that a young women dying of a treatable injury from a preventable accident due to everyone around her beeing an incompetent muppet, isn't upsetting to me or something ...

Or the fact that the book is more interested in the feelings of her midlife crisis having lover/dad* ... instead of her feelings ... or her moms feelings ...

But again, for our teacher to warn us, he would have to have realized that that might be upsetting to anyone who isn't a stuck-up old white dude in his middlife crisis ...

*He used to date her mom and the young womens age means that she might have been consived during that time

SO he deliberately doesn't ask for her birthday so he can keep fucking her ...

I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.
