It Will Rain

~Summary: Y/N couldn't get the best of both world. How could she manage balance being hopelessly in love with the ripper and being the only daughter of the most anti vampires family of Mystic Falls?

Third Person POV:

Stefan lost count of the hours he had spent sitting on the floor of his bedroom staring at the wall in front of him. He missed her. He wanted to hold her, kiss her and tell her how much he loved her. The mere thought of living an eternity without her was a form of death for him. It wouldn't be the first time he thought of letting her go and sacrificing his love for the sake of a happy, healthy and most importantly human life for Y/N; his Y/N. But somehow, she was always there. He would return home after a long tiring day full of supernatural imbalances and just a hug from her would make his day. He was able to feel joy in the most common domestic acts with her. Just to see her lay in bed reading a book when he entered or to see her preparing a meal for them would make his heart swell.

He knew the risk they were taking, Y/N did belong to the most anti-vampire founding family in Mystic Falls. Despite knowing about Salvatore's truth, it didn't stop both Y/N and Stefan from falling into their feelings. They went through hell and back with each other, from crazy exes to insane family members; they made it through.

“Hey Stefan, I know you are hurting but please know that we are here for you,” he heard Elena knock and say behind the closed door. He ignored her until she said, “I went to her house, Stef. She’s hurting too.” Hearing this made his heart clench but he knew he had to let Y/N go, for the greater good.

But truthfully he didn’t know if he could. She had changed so much about his life that he wasn’t sure if he could just up and walk away now. He thought of the first time they met, how her smile seemed to brighten his day after all the crap that had been thrown their way. How she was understanding and patient. How she even managed to get along with Damon. She had brought so much light into everyone's life and in the short amount of time she’s been gone it was getting dark very quickly.

Y/N knew the moment her father visited their town, her relationship with the vampire would be on the rocks. She was the quintessential small town girl, known and loved by everyone, active in the town affairs and close-knit with her family especially her father. Her father was well aware of the supernatural aspect that comes with the town they called home; he despised vampires with a passion and considered them an abomination. Y/N knew her father would know about Stefan’s existence and he would do everything in his power to keep her away from.

Despite everything, when her father came to town over the weekend; he asked to meet Stefan over dinner. Y/N was ecstatic over the fact that her father was making an effort to accept her lover but Stefan did have his doubts.

Yet, she didn’t think it would end like this, her leaning against the wall staring at nothing with an ache in her heart. Her parent’s had tried to get her to talk or move, but all she can do is give them a dead look. This was their doing, nothing they could do would change anything… she wasn’t whole without Stefan. She didn’t think she had anymore tears to cry, yet here she sits with more tears streaming down her face.

~A Week Ago~

“Babe, I don't understand. Talk to me Stefan, What’s on your mind?” Y/N said, wrapping her arms around her lover’s torso. Stefan hugged her back instantly out of habit and sighed, “I don’t know Y/N. It doesn't add up. Your father knows about us, Damon and I. This dinner thing, It's making me anxious.” Y/N gave him a squeeze and kissed his chest softly, they had a significant height difference. The gesture made Stefan smile and lean down to kiss her forehead. “He loves me more than he hates your species Stefan.” He said with a soft smile. Stefan nodded lightly and pulled her in for a kiss. Deep down they both knew that there was a high chance that this will end badly for the both of them, one way or another… but neither of them know how badly it will end.

Stefan’s POV:

Internal War. That is what could describe my state. One part of me knows that by letting Y/N go, I’m doing her good. She could have a chance for a stable human life. Go to college, get married and have children. Though the thought of her with some other man makes me want to go into ripper mode and wipe the whole town but I made a promise to my Y/N. I would never go off the rails ever again.

But, how am I meant to live with this pain… she is my humanity, without her I don’t want to feel. I have no reason to feel this way. I know that the others know this and are trying to come up with something, but I know it’ll fail. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to hold onto what’s little left of my humanity without her. The memories we have hurt. It hurts because I know we will never be able to make more.

“Hey Romeo, I have a plan.” I heard my elder brother say behind the closed door.

Third Person POV:

~At Dinner~

“You know, We always thought Y/N would end up with Tyler. Carol and I used to imagine their wedding all the time. They are best friends after all.” Y/N’s mother said, sighing disappointingly. While Y/N gave her parents a pointed look. She was not naive, She was feeling the tension in the room. Throughout the night her parents didn't miss any shot at throwing a diss or taunt Stefan’s way. She knew he was on the edge, Y/N took hold of Stefan’s hand under the table. She could see he was miserable. She almost hated herself for putting him through this but the inner daddy’s girl in her craved for her parents' approval badly. Stefan who had his head down flinched lightly at the sudden touch he felt but intertwined his fingers with hers when he saw her smiling at him lightly. “I am sorry,” She mouthed, smiling softly. He nodded and continued staring at the plate in front of him. “Mom, Tyler and I WERE best friends. You know we tried dating in high school for your happiness but he went behind my back and cheated on me. Did you expect me to sit around and wait to be a trophy wife with my partner sleeping around?” Y/N back answered, “Besides, I am so happy with Stefan. I could not have imagined finding someone like him. He loves and honours me. Can you not be happy for me, for us?” She continued defending her boyfriend and relationship. “Dad, please” Y/N mumbled pleadingly when she saw her father throw another dirty look at Stefan.

“Oh come on Y/N, people make mistakes. Tyler made one too. The poor boy has been trying to apologise since then but you are being so hard on him. His mother was so stressed about it. She was disappointed in you. Honestly after tonight, I am disappointed in you too.” Y/N’s mother ranted, as if infidelity meant nothing in a relationship. “Spare me, Mom. I don’t care what Carol thinks of me. I can only hope you change your mind. I think we are done for the night. Thank you for having us but I cannot stand being in a place where my boyfriend and I are not welcomed.” Y/N said strongly. She got up and headed to get her coat. Her father was quick on his feet and caught hold of Y/N’s arm, “Don’t mind your mother, sweetheart. You know how she is.” He said, trying to keep her from walking out. He cannot let his plan fail, his daughter would soon become the very species he despised to no end. “Stop Dad, I can see how you’re looking at him, at us” Y/N said calmly. She shrugged her father’s hold of her and took Stefan's hand, “Let’s go home” She whispered, looking up at him. He gently kissed her head and they were moving forward when suddenly Stefan fell to his knees in pain. He was holding his head in pain, screaming for it to stop. Y/N was shaken but immediately looked around for the cause. She saw a woman standing holding her hand up muttering something, probably a curse Y/N thought. She turned around to see her father smirking at the mystery woman outside their front door. “Dad, stop it. Please please, you’re hurting him damn it.” Y/N pleaded, lunging towards her father. He tightly held her arms and spoke loudly, “I will give him a minute's time Y/N. Either he can stay till my friend kills him or he can go away and never come back. Did you seriously think I would let you be with this abomination?” Y/N looked back at Stefan who was dumbfounded and now laying on the floor. Y/N freed herself and rushed to his side, “Hey hey, Stefan - Baby. Look at me, please. Go, please. Get out of here, now.” She said caressing his cheek. Stefan shook his head weakly, trying to fight for his girl. Both their hearts were breaking, but Y/N wouldn’t allow this to happen… she couldn’t stand there and watch him die, she needed him to be safe. She knows that they will be reunited again no matter how long it takes. “Please, I love you so much. We will find a way. I need you to save yourself.” She whispered only for him to hear. Within a blink, Stefan had vanished and Y/N stood up, glaring coldly at her parents. She turned only to find the witch smirking at her. Y/N launched forward and slapped the woman hard who was too shocked to react. Her father had then pulled her away, locking her away - by a key and spell.

Damon did not care to wait for Stefan to answer or even acknowledge his presence. “Have Bon Bon disable the spell on the house, have Elena grab your Juliet since you know I am not invited in her house - Hah, thanks to you and Baam! Your girl back in your arms, all is right in the world and you can stop brooding.” Damon said happily, as if his plan didn't have a thousand holes in it already. Stefan was losing even more hope, if that was the plan to get his Y/N back. There would be no hope and he would’ve lost everything.

“That will not be necessary, Dams” said the girl Stefan was craving to hold. Damon turned around to see Y/N standing behind him but before he could greet her, the door to Stefan's room opened in a hurry and he saw his brother rush, stumbling to hug the girl tightly. She instantly melted in his arms, sobbing and holding onto him as if he would vanish again, their hearts mending and becoming whole once again. Damon smirked at the scene, making a mental note to tease his brother later for being “whipped” and walked away, giving the couple the privacy he needed. But, even Damon had to admit that he was happy to see Y/N back, he had never seen his brother like that and it scared him.

“How? You...” Stefan asked as he pulled his arms around on her waist and hers on his shoulders. “I have a witchy friend,” Y/N smirked; “Elena and Bonnie planned my escape” She said, bringing her lips to his Stefan in for another kiss. They both could feel the longing and love for each other in that moment. They stood there in each other's arms, enjoying each other’s lingering touch. This is where they should’ve always been.

“Marry me?” Stefan asked, unsure of how Y/N would react and before she could say anything he began to ramble making her smile softly at him. “If I lost you, there would be no sunlight, there would be no clear skies. I don’t think you realise just how much I need you. The thought of losing you made me want to shut it all off, because without you there is no reason for me to feel. You are my humanity. Y/N, I can’t live without you -” before he could continue his ramblings she kissed him and when she pulled away and looked up at him, she whispered a small yes. She then freed herself from his arms and pulled him into his bedroom. “Let’s have our honeymoon first though.” She grinned only for Stefan to pull her back and tickle her sides, before speeding them to his bed where they made up for all the time they’d lost.
