Junea laid her mostly skeletal head on the dried stiff skin of Zom's shoulder as she followed their foster filly, Bonnie with eyes that, though sunken, allowed her to see past the crypt's door.
“Zom, stillness of my heart, it worries me when our dear Bonnie Bones goes out under Celestia's sun.”
“I share your concern, Junea, breath of my death. She is not so alone as you fear. Celestia may be high in the sky but she shares it with the Nightmare. The Moon is out also to watch over our mortal child.”
Admiring Bonnie's spirit, that had her out under such adverse conditions just so that she could graze the grass smooth and level over the grave of her friend as a surprise when he arose after the night had fallen, the pair watched her with some concern. It was always possible that some well meaning mortal might try to steal away the nearly grown filly that they loved and had raised.
They need not have worried. The cloud white filly with her black mane and tail looked up from her task. Her eyes narrowed and she gave a near silent snort of anger. With no sound at all, she floated up, ghost-like and took a place in a tree overlooking the graves, tombs and crypts of her family and friends.
They came all too soon. They were watching all around them, every direction but up. Morgripe and his two buddies, who had tried before to vandalize the graveyard were back, with pry bars, hammers and a small bucket of red paint.
They were chatting among themselves cheerfully. “Should'a thought of this before! Come in daylight, day before Nightmare Night!” “They ain't gonna find out what we done until tomorrow, if then!” “They'll think it was done at night! All we gotta do is be with other ponies all night! It is perfect!”
Bonnie had heard and seen enough. Using the stealth that she had learned from the many ghosts of the Ponyville graveyard, she floated out of her tree. Being mindful that Celestia's treacherous sun could cast a shadow that would give her away, she chose her position with care and simply dropped!
She added the power of straightening her forelegs to the strong double buck that lifted Morgripe off his hooves and face planted him in the grass! His paint splashed all over him as his hammer and pry went flying their separate ways!
As her hindquarters landed from kicking Morgripe, she reared and struck with both forehooves at the neck to shoulder joint of his nearest accomplice! Her strike drove him from his hooves too!
The third pony simply ran! The terrified yellow pony left meadow muffins in his wake as he streaked for the gate!
Morgripe was trying to rise, so she casually hoof struck his side, rolling him belly up. She gave his remaining accomplice a steely eye as he got to his hooves. He reached for his fallen tools and she silently shook her head no.
Shivering, he left. Bonnie leaned down to the fallen Morgripe and hissed in his ear, “This is the fourth time that you have tried to disturb this graveyard. This is your last time! No pony will ever find you or any trace of you.”
He looked up and saw no trace of mercy or pity in her eyes. Shivering, he quaked, “What are you going to do to me?” His eyes caught the back wall of the cemetery and he whined, “What happened to the wall? It is all tumble down and growed with moss.”
Bonnie glared at him. “You are going to a Nightmare party. The wall between the waking world and the border of Nightmare is now down.”
Just then, a lovely gray mare's head lifted over the tumbled stone of the wall. “You called, Bonnie?” she asked.
“Yes, Flowering Ash, I did. This was it's fourth time trying to desecrate those who rest under Celestia's sun. I thought that you might want it for refreshments at the party.”
“How thoughtful of you, dear. Are you coming, this year?”
“I am. Reverend Smallflower gave me some toys and games for the Forgotten Foals. Do you have refreshments for me?”
As the lamia's huge serpent body slithered over the wall, she replied, “With Canbe living among us, yes, Bonnie dear. There is plenty for for mortals too.”
Morgripe's eyes bugged out as he saw Flowering Ash, a lovely mare back to the end of her ribs and enormous serpent from there on back. He drew in a breath to scream.
Flowering Ash punched his belly, driving the wind from him. She locked a strong foreleg about his neck and cast a coil about his body. Holding him off the ground, she slithered tracelessly back across the wall.
Bonnie quietly gathered up the fallen tools and retired to the crypt that she shared with the liches Zom and Junea. Soon the authorities arrived. They did find the splash of red paint that the two miscreants had described, but that was all. They looked about in a reasonably careful way but found no sign of the missing Morgripe. They did not really look too hard. Nobody really cared much for him. Always in trouble of some sort. If he really was gone, good riddance.
Shortly after the police ponies left, a spare white pegasus wearing a flat black hat knocked politely at the door to Zom and Junea's crypt. Bonnie poked her head out through the still sealed panels of the door.
“Reverend Smallflower! Are you coming to Nightmare Night with us?”
He ducked his head. “I am indeed. I have brought a few more refreshments for us of a mortal persuasion. Shall we go?”
Together, they stepped across the fallen wall to the borderlands of Nightmare to celebrate with their friends, the Ancient Ones and the Forgotten Foals.

Home is Wherever I’m With You (Ch. 1)
Ao3 || Ko-Fi
Neal refuses to leave Emma, escaping into Canada with her to start their lives over. They know as long as they're together, everything will be fine... even if that means running into the past they both tried so hard to escape. (Swanfire primary, minor Snowing/Rumbelle/other ships later)
“You need to leave her. It’s for her own good.”
Neal balked. Yes, somehow, this dude knew about magic, knew his name, and somehow knew that Emma’s destiny was to break a curse in… wherever the curse had dropped the residents of the Enchanted Forest. But Neal for the life of him couldn’t believe that August was asking him to do the one thing he feared the most.
“No,” he finally said. “I won’t do it. I won’t leave her.”
“But I know your story, Baelfire. I know about your relationship with your father. Surely you don’t want to see him again?”
He almost flinched back at the use of his real name, but he remained steady, staring intently at the other. “I love Emma. I would never leave her behind.”
August glared. “And what about the innocent people that are cursed?”
“I’ll get Emma there. I’ll get her where she needs to go.”
“Why should I believe you?”
“Because I can’t do a worse job than you have of making sure she’s safe. Where the hell have you been the last eighteen years when she was in and out of foster homes and living on the streets? We got a plan in action. We’re going to settle down and live the straight life. And on her birthday… we’ll be there to break the curse.”
“What about your father? I thought you hated him? How can I trust that you’ll really do that knowing your relationship with him?”
Neal bristled, anger growing. “Don’t you dare bring my father into this. My relationship with my father is moot when other people are at risk. I don’t care about my father, but if there are other people in danger… I can’t let them suffer.”
August seemed taken aback by that, and his eyes narrowed just slightly. “There’s seriously no convincing you?”
“No. Not at all. I will protect Emma and lead her to her destiny.”
The thought of it made his stomach twist in a knot, but he knew it was the best thing to do. He couldn’t be a coward, not like his father. He needed to make personal sacrifices to make sure people he cared about were happy.
Wendy. John. Michael. Mr. and Mrs. Darling…
He’d saved them, but at the same time, he lost them too.
He wouldn’t let it happen again.
“Look, I’ll even send you a postcard when we get to Vancouver. I’ll keep in contact with you if it means I can stay with her,” Neal implored. “I don’t want to hurt her like so many other people have.”
August shifted, clearly not having expected push back, but he finally sighed and nodded. “Alright, fine. Just make sure she gets to Storybrooke by her 28th birthday. And keep her safe. You have to promise me that you’ll send me a word when you get there.”
Neal wanted to snap back at him, but he realized how lucky he was getting, and nodded slowly instead, choosing to be polite as he took the business card August had given him. “I will, I promise. Thank you, August.”
“You better hurry back to your car. Emma’ll be back soon,” August said, hopping onto his motorcycle.
Neal rushed back to the bug, turning it on moments before Emma came running around the corner, watches in a bag at her side, and a wide smile of delight.
That damned smile would kill him one day, he was sure.
“I did it!” she cheered, breathless as she dropped into the passenger’s seat, triumphant. “Canada here we come!”
Neal laughed, leaning to kiss her deeply. “You’re brilliant, Emma. I - I still can’t believe you’d risk so much for a criminal like me.”
“C’mon, are you still worried about that? I love you, Neal. You’re the only one that’s really been there for me and hasn’t betrayed me…”
There was something haunted in her eyes, and while Neal had the urge to ask, he knew better not to. And, it was that look that sealed his decision to not leave her.
He wasn’t a coward. Not like his father. He’d keep his promise to Emma, and now, to August. He’d keep Emma safe… and bring her to Storybrooke in ten years.
Taking a deep breath, Neal put the car into drive and sped away from the train station, heading straight for the border.
“How long’s the trip?” Emma asked, relaxing against the sea. “I’ve never been to Canada before.”
“Map says only a couple hours. I picked up a couple late night snacks while you were gone for the ride up,” Neal replied.
“You didn’t have to - ”
“We needed food, Em. We can’t get to Canada on an empty stomach,” Neal laughed. “Besides, we don’t know what kinds of snack foods they have in Canada. This could be the last time you eat a bear claw until we can get to Tallahassee!”
Emma’s eyes widened. “Don’t you dare say that. I can’t live in a country without bear claws!”
He grinned. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m sure Canada has doughnut places that sell bear claws.”
“What’s the plan?” Emma asked. “Luckily, I have a passport, but, if you’re wanted here, there’s no way they’ll let you into Canada.”
Neal paused as the city skyline became more distant in the rear view mirror. “I got a passport too. We’ll just have to have faith that we’ll both be let through.”
“I don’t know how to do that…” Emma said softly, flicking the radio on, classic rock bursting from the speakers. “But I’ll try, for you.”
Neal reached to take Emma’s hand with his, using the other to steer. “Hey - look at me. It’s going to be okay. I promise you. Nothing bad is going to happen to us again. We’re gonna go, fence the watches, and we’re gonna start our lives over. No more stealing from gas stations and sleeping in this uncomfortable as shit car. I’m going to get you a cute little apartment in Tallahassee. We’re gonna fly straight from now on. I promise.”
Emma’s hand squeezed his tightly. “I don’t normally pray, but I think this might just make me start.”
Neal smiled. “Whatever will make you feel better.”
All of this was for her. Dropping the Bonnie and Clyde act, going straight, getting her to some town called Storybrooke where he was destined to reunite with his father after three-hundred years.
He just hoped she wouldn’t want something different in the ensuing years.
The drive was quiet, minus the radio, which began to crackle the further they got from Seattle and its radio towers.
“Do you want me to see if I can pick up a Canadian station?” Emma suggested.
“Yeah - if you want.”
Emma hummed softly, fiddling with the radio, before the music flickered back on. Only You, by Yaz.
Neal unconsciously gripped the steering wheel tighter as the words rang in his ears.
“You okay?” Emma asked quietly.
“Huh? Oh… yeah, I’m alright. This song just reminds me of someone.”
“Lost love?”
Neal kept his eyes focused on the road as the signs for the border crossing came into view. “Not exactly.”
“Your dad?”
“ … Sort of. He was as close as I had to a dad for a while.”
“It reminds me of someone too. Someone I thought was my friend.”
He noted Emma’s cheeks had turned a dusty pink, but didn’t say anything. “Sorry to hear that.”
“Yeah. Me too,” she sighed, looking out the window. “The watches are hidden. I made sure to hide the bag in my purse. Hopefully since it’s so dark they won’t search all that much.”
Neal nodded as they got in line. “Just act cool. Like we know what we’re doing.”
“Right.”
As the line creeped along, Neal’s fingers tapped anxiously against the steering wheel. Just a bit longer, and they were free. All they had to do was -
“Evening!” the patrol officer’s voice boomed suddenly. Neal scrambled to roll down the window. “It's a bit late to be coming across!”
Neal laughed a little as he handed him their passports. “Yeah… we had a bit of car trouble that set us back a couple hours. We wanted to get here in time for a late dinner… but instead we had to settle for gas station snacks.”
“Ah, you don’t need to worry about that there’s a 24-hour diner about ten minutes from here, and a hotel as well. How long do you guys plan to be in Canada?”
“Oh - only about a week or two. One last hurrah before we start school, y’know?”
“Oh sure, sure. We’ve gotten a lot of you guys comin’ through,” the guard said, stamping both passports with a smile. “Well, Miss Swan, Mr. Cassidy, you enjoy your time here.”
“Thanks. Have a good night,” Neal said, tossing Emma’s passport back to her as the other guard finished his sweep of the bug. Rolling the window up and pulling onto the main road, Neal let out a breathless laugh of relief.
They’d done it. They’d really and truly done it.
He pulled off to the welcome building, exchanging what little cash he had for Canadian dollars, and realized with glee that, just with their cash, they had enough for a proper dinner. Not for a motel room, but food was more important.
That night, they feasted on cheap diner food. Chicken strips, onion rings and grilled cheese, with pumpkin pie for dessert, and black coffee to wash it down. They slept in the bug in the motel’s parking lot, and in the morning, managed to sneak into one of the rooms to shower before they continued on their way to Vancouver.
“Today just feels different, you know?” Emma asked, looking over at him with a wide grin. “It feels like we can just wash everything away once we get rid of these watches.”
“It does. Like the start of the rest of our lives,” Neal said, squeezing her hand and grinning as they drove through the confusing streets of Vancouver. “The pawn shop I looked up in the phone book should be on this road, so keep an eye out for that.”
“There it is! Less Junk 4 U!”
Neal grinned, finding a parking spot and looking at the shop. “Are you ready? After today, everything changes.”
“I’m ready for anything.”
They clasped their hands together when they exited the bug and entered the shop, Neal holding the bag of watches carefully as he approached the counter.
“Hey there! How can I help you both today?” the woman at the counter asked with a wide smile.
“Got a few watches here that belonged to my dad,” Neal explained, letting Emma’s hand go and setting the bag down, carefully taking each watch out.
The woman’s eyes widened as she took in the condition of them, lifting one into her hands delicately. “These are beautiful. Pristine, even! It’s so rare that we get a treasure like this. You’re really sure you want to sell these?”
Neal wrinkled his nose, shrugging a little as if it were a difficult choice. “Yeah, I’m sure. Before he died, my dad and I didn’t have the greatest relationship and I’m not really a watch guy so… I figured someone else would get more use out of them if I brought ‘em here.”
“That’s very kind of you. I know many people who would love to have a Patek Philippe in this beautiful condition. I can give you... $20,000 for them, is that alright?”
Neal and Emma gasped, pretending to be shocked at the price, letting out chuckles of surprise, and Neal gripping the counter hard.
“Twe - twenty thousand? That - that’s amazing! We could do anything we wanted!” Emma remarked. “Ma’am… you’ve just changed our lives.”
She laughed softly, gesturing them over to the register. “Aw, come on now, you’re giving me too much credit. It’s not just about the money, it’s about what you guys intend to do with it.”
“We plan to get an apartment in Tallahassee,” Emma said, although Neal noticed she was beginning to look a little pale. “It’ll be our first time living together.”
The woman hummed, smiling a little as she finished counting out the cash. “Here you are… hey, are you feeling alright?”
“Um. Sorry but do you have a bathroom I could use?” Emma asked, her face going white.
“Of course, just go down this hall, it’s on the right.”
Emma rushed off, and Neal followed, worriedly waiting for her outside. Christ, this was only his second day of his promise to August, and Emma was puking her guts out in a pawn shop toilet! What if something was terribly wrong with her?
Neal fussed with his hands until the sound of the flush graced his ears. Emma looked shaken when she emerged, but otherwise okay.
“That’s better…” she said calmly, popping a mint she’d swiped from the motel desk into her mouth. “Are you ready to go?”
He nodded wordlessly, taking her hand as they moved back into the main area of the store.
“Are you alright?” the employee asked as they approached the door.
“Yeah - sorry about that. We just had too much fried food last night and I think it’s come back to kick me in the ass. Thanks for letting me use your bathroom,” Emma said.
Neal found his voice. “Yeah, and thanks for the money too. You’ve really helped us out today.”
“No trouble. You two have a good day.”
When they were alone, Neal looked worriedly at her. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine, Neal… I promise. Let’s just check into a proper hotel now.”
He smiled, tucking a piece of blonde hair behind her ear. “Whatever you want to do. Maybe we can do a little bit of sightseeing before we go back to the States?”
“I think that sounds fun. It’ll be like a proper vacation,” she said with a grin. “I’ve never been on vacation before.”
“Me either, so I’m glad it’s with you.”
“I love you, Neal Cassidy.”
“I love you too, Emma Swan.”
They kissed before driving off into the Vancouver afternoon.

How to Get Away with Murder
How to Get Away with Murder is an American television series aired on ABC last September 2014 and ended May 2020. The series is created by Peter Nowalk with a genre of legal drama, mystery and thriller.
This is the most intriguing series I have ever seen. I binge-watched the whole six seasons on Netflix for a week. The suspense of each episode, the phenomenal cast, amazing writers and everyone who put this extra-ordinary series together were definitely worth of your time. The drama ended with a chilling and jaw-dropping plot twist.
Annalise Keating is a defense attorney and law professor in Middleton University, Philadelphia. Every year, she chooses students from her class to be interns at her firm; Connor Walsh, Asher Millstone, Michaela Pratt, Laurel Castillo and Wes Gibbins were chosen and named as "The Keating 5 or K5". Frank Delfino and Bonnie Winterbottom also work for Annalise. This is where she got entwined in a murder plot.
It all started in the case of a college student named Lila Stangard, where she was found dead inside a water tank of a fraternity house near their campus. The Keating 5 found out that Sam Keating, Annalise's husband and a psychology professor in Middleton, was having an affair with Lila. Rebecca Sutter is Lila's best friend and became the suspect to her death. Wes Gibbins who is part of the K5 helped her to bring justice to Lila's death but one night when they were all inside the Keating residence waiting for Annalise, the interns got an argument with Sam. They accidentally killed Sam and disposed his body. Laurel, Connor, Michaela and Wes cover up the murder of Sam and Annalise helped her students to get away with it. Rebecca wanted to go to the police and report what happened but she was secretly killed by Bonnie. Wes being paranoid looking for her, teamed up with Rebecca's foster brother to find her. The real killer behind Lila's death was Frank, who got his orders from Sam.
After Sam Keating's death, a lot of dead bodies were piling up. The next murders that they all got away were the deaths of A.D.A Emily Sinclair, Wallace Mahoney, D.A. Ronald Miller, Xavier Castillo, and Governor Lynne Birkhead.
Main Characters
Viola Davis as Annalise Keating
Annalise Keating is my favorite character in this show. She is a confident, powerful and talented black woman who speaks the nation's truth about the justice system's discriminatory practices. And simply because she is Annaliese freaking Keating!
Annalise was born as Anna Mae Harkness in Memphis, Tennessee. She is the daughter of Ophelia and Mac Harkness. She has a sister named Celestine and a brother, Thelonious. When Anna Mae was still young, she was raped by her alcoholic uncle named Clyde, who was staying at their house while recovering financially. Ophelia saw Clyde coming out from Annalise's room and at that very moment, she knew that Clyde raped her daughter. A few days later, when Clyde was drunk and had a cigarette in his mouth, Ophelia started a fire and burn the house down with him inside.
When Annalise was in Harvard law school, she met Eve Rothlo and they became really close friends. Their relationship became romantic and when Annalise found out that she's pansexual, she got scared of her sexuality. Annalise and Eve were together until she met Sam Keating, who was her therapist that time. The two fell in love and it made Sam leave his wife, Vivian Maddox.
Billy Brown as Nathaniel "Nate" Lahey
Nate Lahey is a respected and tough Philadelphia police detective. In the beginning of the show, Nate and Annalise were having an affair. Nate was married to his wife Nia, who was in the hospital being treated due to her illness.
When Sam Keating died, Nate was and accused framed by Annalise to protect her students especially Wes. Nate being in jail, Annalise told him contact the lawyer that she's referring and it happened to be her former lover, Eve Rothlo.
Alfred Enoch as Wesley "Wes" Gibbins / Christophe Edmond
Wes Gibbins is a law student and one of the so-called Keating 5.
In his earlier years, Christophe was an immigrant from Haiti to the United States with his mom, Rose Edmond. Rose was working as a maid in the Mahoney family at that time. When Christophe was 12 years old, his mother was called by Wallace Mahoney to be a witness for a murder and claim that she saw Charles Mahoney while cleaning when Vickie was murdered. Rose refused due to the safety of her son but Wallace threaten to harm Christophe if she does not agree to lie in the stand.
Annalise was hired by the Mahoney's to represent Charles. She went to Ohio to approach Rose but during the trial, Rose did not show up and took his son to escape. At that time, Christophe did not know what was happening and does not want to leave.
Annalise went to Rose's apartment to tell her to testify but Rose took her life in front of her. Annalise was shaking, frightened and went home. When Christophe has returned to his home, he saw his mother lying on the floor with a knife on her throat. He pulled it out and the blood was dripping fast. He became the suspect of the death of his mother but there weren't enough evidence that he killed her and the police let him go. He was put into foster care and changed his name into Wesley Gibbins,
Jack Falahee as Connor Walsh
Connor Walsh was described as a sly, sexy, sophisticated and openly gay. He is also studying law and one of the favored students of Annalise. He will do everything to earn his professor's admiration. During the case that they were working on, Connor slept with an I.T, guy named Oliver to gain evidence illegally. These two had an "on and off" relationship and ended up married on Season 5.
Aja Naomi King as Michaela Pratt
Michaela Pratt is an ambitious, overachiever who wants to be like Annalise.
In her younger years, her mother was shot by his father and this lead her to be taken by the social services. Michaela was adopted and raised by Trishelle Pratt along with her adoptive brothers and sisters. She grew up in a poor household and that made her wanting more from life.
She started dating a guy named Aiden Walker. They got engaged and had plans building a life together. Aiden was her ideal guy but Michaela has doubts on her fiance's sexuality. Later on when Connor found out that Aiden was Michaela's fiance, he said that they went to the same boarding school and had a relationship there.
Matt McGorry as Asher Millstone
Asher Millstone was born into a world of Ivy League educations and country club memberships. He is a rich law student of Middleton University. He went to law school to follow the footsteps of his father, Judge William Millstone.
During the death of Sam Keating, Asher was on his way to go to a party with the other students. As he was going to the bonfire, he passed by the house of Annalise and saw Connor's car in the driveway. He hurriedly knocked on the door and shouted to open it. He kept on walking on the streets and decided to party. He does not have any idea what happened to the other Keating 4 on that night. He felt left out every time his co-interns were whispering behind his back about the accident.
Karla Souza as Laurel Castillo
Laurel Castillo is a secret weapon in the making. A quiet, sensitive idealist who enrolled in law school to learn how to defend the less fortunate, Laurel manages to stay under the radar, making it easy for her fellow classmates to underestimate her. With a profound attention to detail and inventive mind, she's talented – and darker – than anyone realizes, including Annalise.
Laurel is the daughter of Jorge Castillo, the owner of Antares Technologies, a technological company which specializes in the manufacture of drones, pumps, among other things. When she was chosen to be part of the Keating 5, Laurel met Frank Delfino in A.K's firm. The attraction between the two was irresistible. But when Frank went missing on action on Season 2, she got closer to Wes. The two became a couple and had a son named, Christopher.
Charlie Weber as Frank Delfino
Frank Delfino's a local Philly boy who never thought he'd be the type of guy who wears a suit to work. But he also never thought he'd get to work for someone like Annalise Keating. Forever loyal and armed with hometown connections, Frank is ready to do Annalise's dirty work at every turn. His street-smart, tough-guy exterior makes him the ideal protector for Annalise. His number one vice though? Sleeping with the students.
Frank was in jail for 10 years and got out with the help of Annalise. He works as a fixer and private detective in Annalise's firm. After being released from prison, Annalise brought Frank to Ohio to assist her in the Mahoney case. When he was having a drink in the hotel bar, a lady named Lisa whispered her room number. They started kissing but Lisa suddenly pulled a bag under the bed with money inside. She asked Frank to plant a bug inside Annalise's room.
Annalise got involved in a car accident and rushed to the operating room. She was 8 months pregnant back then and lost her son. Frank finds out that she lost the baby. He told Sam that he screwed up and it was his fault. Sam said that Annalise should never find out that Frank caused the accident.
On season 6, It was revealed that Frank was the child of Sam and his sister Hannah Keating. This made him mad and in order save Annalise, he did everything to protect her from Governor Birkhead. He shot the governor and died in the end.
Liza Weil as Bonnie Winterbottom
Bonnie Winterbottom appears sweet and kind, the perfect counterpart to Annalise, but she will show her claws when you least expect it. As Annalise's dedicated associate, Bonnie works around the clock to do all the behind-the-scenes casework, as well as help guide the students. Though she may reprimand Frank about his questionable decisions when it comes to his personal life, she is his biggest ally and protector. Besides, Frank knows that Bonnie has secrets, too.
When she was young, Bonnie was molested by her own father. She was raped, sexually abused and being taped by her parents, making her their source of income. At the age of 15, she got pregnant and while at labor, her parents told her that the baby did not survived but secretly taken by her sister. Bonnie files charges against the councilman who raped her and lose the case to Annalise. After that, she was offered by Annalise to get into law school and Bonnie agreed.
Conrad Ricamora as Oliver Hampton
Oliver Hampton is a computer genius who specializes in coding an hacking.
One of the many reasons that I enjoyed watching HTGAWM was the tandem and chemistry of the "Coliver" (Connor and Oliver). These two lovers will prove that true love exists no matter what the situation they are in, they will make through it all and last a lifetime.
The season finale was released last May 2020 and it broke my heart not seeing this squad again.

Baby Driver - Reaction blog (No Spoilers)
Edgar Wright has to be one of the most unique and talented filmmakers of the 21st century. Initially finding fame as the director of the British sitcom Spaced, he went on to co-write and direct the critically acclaimed Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy with Simon Pegg and he directed the cult classic Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. He was in talks with Marvel to write and direct the Ant-Man movie, but he left due to creative differences. Now he’s with another major studio, Sony, with his next project. Baby Driver. An action comedy about a young getaway driver suffering from tinnitus trying to escape his criminal lifestyle. Is it any good?
...
Do you really need to ask?
Unlike Marvel, Sony actually allowed Edgar Wright his creative freedom and control, and it makes all the difference. Baby Driver has got to be some of Wright’s best work yet. His kinetic editing style is very much in tact, making each car chase and action scene memorable and intense and the writing is superb. Wright’s trademark use of synchronicity and parallels are present throughout and the story itself is intelligently constructed with a lot of emotional weight to it. Admittedly the story of a young man trying to escape from a criminal gang in order to live on the straight and narrow with the love of his life isn’t very original, but it’s the way Wright does it that makes it so fresh and engaging. The narrative often tries to subvert our expectations, throwing in many twists and turns to keep us interested.
Ansel Egort is a revelation as Baby. From the first opening scenes I was immediately invested in his story due to his performance and great characterisation. Baby doesn’t actually have many lines of dialogue in the movie. Instead we’re told every we need to know about him through the visuals, his actions, the way he interacts with he other characters and the audio. The film’s soundtrack, as well as being used to make action scenes more exciting and to comedically offset more tense scenes, also gives us a unique insight into Baby’s thought process and views of the world and people around him.
The other characters are equally as good. Lily James does a good job as Baby’s love interest Debora. The two share great chemistry together and you’re completely invested in their growing relationship. I also liked the relationship between Baby and Joseph, played by CJ Jones. Baby’s deaf foster father. It’s these scenes I found to be the most touching and I loved the bond they have. Jamie Foxx is fantastic as the psychotic criminal Bats. Presented in the trailers as being more of a comedy character, he actually instigates some of the film’s most tense scenes and while there are some funny moments with him, I was mostly pretty frightened of him due to the character’s unpredictability. Jon Hamm and Eiza Gonzalez do an excellent job as the husband and wife team Buddy and Darling. They’re kind of a more vulgar and explicit version of Bonnie and Clyde, and I really liked the direction their characters went in the film. Finally there’s Kevin Spacey as the criminal kingpin Doc, who commands a great authority and presence on screen. But then what do you expect from the guy who played Hopper in A Bug’s Life?
If you haven’t already, you should definitely check out this film. Baby Driver is a stylish, engaging and entertaining thrill ride with an intelligently written story, memorable characters and possessing a maturity and complexity that you don’t often see from these kinds of movies. Quite possibly the best movie Edgar Wright has ever made. I’d definitely rate this up there with Hot Fuzz :D

Bonnie – 15 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Bonnie is a 15 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Bonnie is a very small traditional Staffordshire Bull Terrier that just wants to snuggle with you! Bonnie was taken in when her family of 15 years were made homeless and felt all they could do was put her to sleep, the vet however didn’t feel she was ready to die and sent her to us, and I am pleased they did as this beauty as plenty of life and Love eft in her!
She didn’t stop crying and was utterly heartbroken, I fell asleep cradling her while she cried and I really thought she was beyond help, and then, She snapped out of it by the next morning and is the best little dog ever!! She is a little fatty and clearly well loved , now we just need to find someone to share all her love with! She is without a doubt the sweetest little old girl of 15 ears old. She is not giddy or bouncy, she is very happy to plod around and loves sleeping on her bed She loves mine even more and with a face and smile like hers, its very hard to say no!! She is perfectly clean in the house, is not destructive and can be left for short periods without any problems. She walks well on the lead and is an absolute pleasure in every way.
She is fine with other dogs, she is currently being fostered with 10 other dogs of all shapes and sizes and loves them all. She is also fine with children. She is not cat tested but I don’t think she would be a problem. She doesn’t have a bad bone in her body! She is fine with rabbits and birds also. Bonnie just wants to curl up in comfort and sleep! Bonnie very undemanding little girl that would make a fantastic addition to any home, She is the sweetest most adorable little snuggle bug you will ever meet, All she wants is to curl up with you for cuddles!
Do you have room in your home and heart for our beautiful Bonnie? Ever love you give will be returned ten fold by this girl, and if I had room she would be staying here forever because she is just so wonderful. She is flea, wormed, spayed and microchipped .

Micro organism engineered as Malicious program for most cancers immunotherapy
http://tinyurl.com/yymbrd87 New York, NY–July 3, 2019–The rising area of artificial biology–designing new organic parts and systems–is revolutionizing medication. By way of the genetic programming of dwelling cells, researchers are creating engineered methods that intelligently sense and reply to various environments, resulting in extra particular and efficient options compared to present molecular-based therapeutics. On the similar time, most cancers immunotherapy–using the physique’s immune defenses to struggle cancer–has remodeled most cancers remedy over the previous decade, however solely a handful of strong tumors have responded, and systemic remedy typically ends in important negative effects. Designing therapies that may induce a potent, anti-tumor immune response inside a strong tumor with out triggering systemic toxicity has posed a major problem. Researchers at Columbia Engineering and Columbia College Irving Medical Middle (CUIMC) introduced immediately that they’re addressing this problem by engineering a pressure of non-pathogenic micro organism that may colonize strong tumors in mice and safely ship potent immunotherapies, performing as a Trojan Horse that treats tumors from inside. The remedy led not solely to finish tumor regression in a mouse mannequin of lymphoma, but additionally important management of distant, uninjected tumor lesions. Their findings are revealed immediately in Nature Drugs. “Seeing untreated tumors reply alongside remedy of main lesions was an surprising discovery. It’s the first demonstration following a bacterial most cancers remedy of what’s termed an ‘abscopal’ impact,” says Tal Danino, assistant professor of biomedical engineering. “Which means we’ll be capable of engineer micro organism to prime tumors domestically, after which stimulate the immune system to hunt out tumors and metastases which are too small to be detected with imaging or different approaches.” The examine was led in collaboration with Nicholas Arpaia, assistant professor of microbiology & immunology at CUIMC, and co-senior creator on the publication. The crew mixed their experience in artificial biology and immunology to engineer a pressure of micro organism capable of develop and multiply within the necrotic core of tumors. When micro organism numbers attain a essential threshold, the non-pathogenic E. coli are then programmed to self-destruct, permitting for efficient launch of therapeutics and stopping them from wreaking havoc elsewhere within the physique. Subsequently, a small fraction of micro organism survive lysis and reseed the inhabitants, permitting for repeated rounds of drug supply inside handled tumors. The proof of concept in programming the micro organism on this method was initially developed just a few years in the past (Din & Danino et al. Nature 2016). Within the present examine, the authors selected to launch a nanobody that targets a protein known as CD47. CD47, a “don’t-eat-me” sign, protects most cancers cells from being eaten by innate immune cells equivalent to macrophages and dendritic cells. It’s present in abundance on a majority of human strong tumors and has not too long ago turn out to be a well-liked therapeutic goal. “However CD47 is current elsewhere within the physique, and systemic focusing on of CD47 ends in important toxicity as evidenced by latest medical trials. To resolve this problem, we engineered micro organism to focus on CD47 solely throughout the tumor and keep away from systemic side-effects of remedy,” provides Sreyan Chowdhury, the paper’s lead creator and a PhD scholar co-mentored by Arpaia and Danino. The mixed impact of bacterially induced native irritation throughout the tumor and the blockade of CD47 results in elevated ingestion, or phagocytosis of tumor cells and subsequently to enhanced activation and proliferation of T cells throughout the handled tumors. The crew discovered that remedy with their engineered micro organism not solely cleared the handled tumors but additionally lowered the incidence of tumor metastasis in a number of fashions. “Remedy with engineered micro organism led to priming of tumor-specific T cells within the tumor that then migrated systemically to additionally deal with distant tumors,” Arpaia says. “With out each reside bugs lysing within the tumor and the CD47 nanobody payload, we weren’t capable of observe the therapeutic or abscopal results.” The crew is now performing additional proof-of-concept exams, in addition to security and toxicology research, of their engineered immunotherapeutic micro organism in a variety of superior strong tumor settings in mouse fashions. Constructive outcomes from these exams might result in a medical trial in sufferers. They’re additionally collaborating with Gary Schwartz, CUIMC’s chief of hematology/oncology and deputy director of the Herbert Irving Complete Most cancers Middle, on medical translation facets of their work, and have began an organization to translate their promising know-how to sufferers. ### Concerning the Examine The examine is titled “Programmable micro organism induce sturdy tumor regression and systemic antitumor immunity.” Authors are: Sreyan Chowdhury1,2; Samuel Castro1; Courtney Coker1; Taylor E. The Evolving Role of Race in Children’s Lit, From ‘Harry Potter’ to ‘The Hate U Give’
Most people can recall a book that changed their life. For Ebony Elizabeth Thomas—as for many people who came of age in the 1990s and early 2000s—it was the Harry Potter series.
Ebony Elizabeth Thomas. Source: University of Pennsylvania
Thomas, now a professor in the Literacy, Culture and International Education division of the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, was a 5th grade teacher in Detroit when she first opened a Harry Potter book. Like so many millions of readers before and after her, she was drawn into the novels almost instantly. But for her, the turning point came when she read a sentence in one of the early books that started with four simple words: “A tall black girl.” This new character, Angelina Johnson, would go on to become captain of the Gryffindor quidditch team—a big deal in the wizarding world.
“I was thrilled—and I was in my early 20s when I first read those words,” Thomas says. “But it just goes to show that by age 22, I had not read a popular fantasy with a character that looked like me. There wasn't the sea of materials that there were for my friends who were white.”
Hungry for more examples of well-developed, stereotype-defying black protagonists, Thomas went to graduate school and became a researcher and critic of children’s literature, focusing on how people of color are portrayed in books intended for younger audiences.
This week on the EdSurge On Air podcast, Thomas describes her desire at a young age to read books about detectives and superheroes of color, but finding instead only stories about those who were enslaved, marching for civil rights or living in ghettos. She speaks candidly about how the depiction of diverse characters in children’s literature has evolved since the early 20th century, how far it’s come since she was growing up and how far it still has to go.
Listen to the podcast episode here. You can follow the podcast series on the Apple Podcast app, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Play Music or wherever you listen. Or read a portion of the interview below, lightly edited for clarity.
EdSurge: So, as someone who now studies the role of race and class and culture, when you think back at your own experience as a child reader, did you ever think about how those characters related to you, and whether they were characters that you could see yourself in?
Ebony Thomas: Definitely. So I have begun theorizing my experience as a child reader in my forthcoming book, The Dark Fantastic: Race and the Imagination from Harry Potter to the Hunger Games. So I don't begin the book with Harry Potter because I was in my late teens and very early 20s when J.K. Rowling first began publishing those books. I grew up during the 1980s, so I read quite different literature. I feel as if there was always a rebellion in my soul. So unlike the generation before me and every generation before mine, I had some African American children's literature to read. However, most of the African American children's literature that my generation had was like eating our vegetables.
Thinking about the black child characters in those stories. They were meant to teach us something, to teach us about our glorious past and the fact that we had come so very far as a people. These narratives were all about racial uplift. So they would be about slavery and freedom. The characters would be enslaved. They would be about overcoming racism during Jim Crow and the civil rights era. Or, more rarely, they were, “This is what it's like to live in the ghetto.”
So those were the only three kinds of black characters that you tended to find in stories as protagonists. But when I was younger, it just felt like I was doubling up on history lessons. I wanted to read about fairytales and science fiction and fantasy. I wanted fun reads. It's not necessarily fun to have to be confronted with racism, whether or not it's in the past or the present, as a child. And unfortunately, a lot of those early books, that was all we had.
Now you do need those stories. All kids need all kinds of stories. You do need stories that are historical in nature and reflect our contemporary reality. But we also need stories that are meant to foster the imagination, that are to stretch our sense of what is possible. And I argue in my forthcoming book, The Dark Fantastic, that only some kids get all kinds of stories. The rest of us don't get that. We exist for a purpose in children's literature, we don't just exist.
So would you say, then, that almost a measure of our progress in terms of representing diversity in literature is how much they involve fantasy and imaginative stories?
I think so, but I also argue that we need to figure out what is actually happening to the black character in the fairytale or in a fantasy or science fiction novel because sometimes we're present, but bad things happen to us.
So I traced the story of four black girl protagonists in The Dark Fantastic. So these are stories where we are present as one of a cast or an ensemble of characters, which is very common in speculative fiction. But for some strange reason, even when that black girl character is meant to be sympathetic, strange things happen to her. And I traced that journey that the black girl character takes from page to the screen. So I look at Rue from The Hunger Games, Angelina Johnson from the Harry Potter series, Gwen from the BBC's adaptation of Merlin, and Bonnie Bennett from the CW series, The Vampire Diaries.
You were talking about growing up in the ‘80s and the kind of literature that was available then. How do you compare that to what it looks like today? Is this something that has improved over time? Are we at least tracking in the right direction?
We have pivoted towards the right direction. I mean, sometimes I'll say, ‘Oh, we've made such progress.’ I tend to be on the optimistic side and perhaps the more liberal, moderate side.
I'm critical, but some of my colleagues believe that children's literature really hasn't done enough—and that as a matter of fact, what they've done is more insidious. They have only done so much so that we'll be quiet. So it's like painting lipstick on a pig. I actually do think that we're starting to pivot just because of demography. I mean the demographics of where children and teens are going in the United States means that very, very soon the vast majority of kids in the country are not going to reflect what kids look like in literature and media. And so that disconnect means that many of those kids are going to begin to disengage. And as we've seen with the generations after mine, the Millennials and especially Generation Z, they are demanding more.
I didn't even know that you could demand more, because I grew up entirely before the Internet. I was born in the late seventies. And so I didn't get an email address until I was a sophomore in undergrad. And there was no way for me to say, well, you know, it kinda stinks that in most books I'm a slave or I am marching for civil rights. Both of those are part of my heritage, but I don't think that that should determine whether or not I could see myself as a magician or detective or a superhero.
But as a kid, there was nothing around me to even point toward what I had been longing for.
Why do you think that is? And do you have ideas for how we can begin to move the needle or maybe just move the needle faster on that?
Well, I think part of the problem is that the history of publishing in the West, so not just children's literature, but the very history of publishing and media and advertising and representation in the West has been extremely and incredibly racist from its inception. Publishing was a primary means by which negative information, stereotypes and other controlling ideas were spread to each successive generation.
If you look at children's literature published before the civil rights movement, most of the time when a black child character appears, he or she or they are a caricature. So they are not an actual representation of a black child. And the more popular the narrative, often the more skewed that character tends to be. So one of the most popular stories from the early 20th century that is still being published today is Helen Bannerman's Little Black Sambo.
And so what happened in children's literature that's quite unfortunate is that you began with racist images and stereotypes from the period of Atlantic slavery, the period immediately after where there was backlash against emancipation and manumission and then that brings us to the very early 20th century. You have generations upon generations of people who grew up seeing everything from Little Black Sambo to the golliwog figure to the mammy figure in children's literature and in the very earliest cartoons.
So if you look at early Bugs Bunny and if you look at early Mickey Mouse, there are some incredibly racist stereotypes there. So you have that generation that grew up around the turn of the 20th century. But then you move forward, and then you have a generation of children's writers who grew up reading those books. Those are the only representations of people of color that they had. So then you have Dr. Seuss, who early on was really problematic in his depictions of race, but then evolved and grew over the course of his lifetime. You have Roald Dahl, where the Oompa-Loompas were originally meant to be African pygmies because they grew up on very colonialist, racist children's literature. And then our generation, so late boomers, Generation X, early Millennials, re-read Dr. Seuss and Roald Dahl growing up.
So do you see how the first step in changing things is not saying, “OK, let's paper it over and put diverse books out on the shelves and in kids' hands.” I think we have to understand how representations of children have been passed from one generation to the next, examine them, and then interrupt that cycle, so that going forward we're very cautious.
It's not to be afraid. So sometimes people think we diversity advocates, we want you to be afraid about what you write about people of color or indigenous folks or lesbian and gay or trans kids, you know, ‘Ooh, be very careful.’ But that is not really it.
What we want people to do is to be thoughtful about the fact that you only know what you have learned and then experience throughout your lifetime. And so, therefore, if you're writing about experiences outside of your own, it would behoove you to be mindful and thoughtful about how you're representing people. And to assume that you, like I, have been unconsciously absorbing some very problematic stereotypes from our earliest memories, from the earliest times in our lives. And that's not because we're bad people, but that's because we live in the world that we live in.
Each year you publish a list of recommended titles for young readers, and these span from picture books to young adult fiction to comics and graphic novels. Could you share some books from the last few years that really stand out?
One phenomenon that I have watched over the past few years is Angie Thomas's The Hate U Give, from the time she was querying agents four or five years ago as a would-be author to her finding an agent, finding a publisher, and then remaining on The New York Times bestseller list.
So one of the things that doesn't get said in Angie's phenomenal story is that where she began was as the We Need Diverse Books coalition's first grant recipient. It was a wonderful story, but I must admit to you that 10 years ago it couldn't get published.
So now with the advocacy around diverse books over the past five years, yes, we see that not only can a story like that about Black Lives Matter, about activism, in the South, we have this phenomenal runaway success story in The Hate U Give. And now her second book is out, On The Come Up, and I've read it. I love it. I think that she's a spectacular addition to children's and young adult literature.
If you look at the past five years, there has been a pivot in the right direction because we are getting some phenomenal indigenous and authors of color. Another debut author whose work I love is Ibi Zoboi. She has three books out now. So in 2017, her debut novel American Street was a finalist for the National Book Award. And since then she's come out with two more books: Pride, which was a hip hop retelling of Pride and Prejudice, and Black Enough, which is an anthology that collects stories from some very exciting authors of African descent.
Beyond black children's and young adult literature, which is my area of focus and specialty, other amazing authors whose work I've enjoyed include Sayantani DasGupta, who wrote The Serpent's Secret series and is a sociology professor at a university in New York. But this is an amazing South Asian fantasy story for middle grades. So that was the kind of story that I would have loved reading as a seventh grader. And then, of course, we have Elizabeth Acevedo's The Poet X, which is just incredible. She just won the National Book Award and the Printz Award for her novel.

Junea laid her mostly skeletal head on the dried stiff skin of Zom's shoulder as she followed their foster filly, Bonnie with eyes that, though sunken allowed her to see past the crypt's door.
As the lamia's huge serpent's body slithered over the wall, she replied, “With Canbe living among us, yes, Bonnie dear.
She locked a strong foreleg about his neck and cast a coil about his body and slithered back across the wall.
