What’s so funny about the bonnet thing is that y’all are fighting for how it helps all hair types but don’t even know how to use them. The reason black people can throw a bonnet on and it’ll help is bc of fairy knots; like just throwing it on with no kind of product or braiding or laying is to help with smth that can’t even happen to white hair in the same way. Ppl who say bonnets help them and just put it on their head after a ponytail or smth are lying lmao

season 2 didn't show ed and stede slow dancing together because in season 3 they're going to slow dance in the lobby of their inn after a long day of decorating and setting everything up <3

ok but the way this season has been so rushed oh my god it makes me sad (even though i did overall enjoy it). just thinking about the ending of the season. zheng asked ed and stede specifically to help her get revenge on richard. izzy reminded ed that the whole crew is his family. so they stayed on the ship for a bit. but then sometime later ed and stede had to have a conversation about what they want and their priorities. ed must have brought up the inn and then they both agreed that’s what they wanna do. then they had to break that to the crew, and they definitely weren’t indifferent to losing their captain - they loved stede despite everything. there must have been many goodbyes and discussions of who’s gonna be the next captain. like all of this seems like stuff that deserves some development and attention but we didn’t get to see any of that.

My ideal season 3 of OFMD has the crew helping Zheng with each episode being a different genre. I wanna see them have a heist episode and a Agatha Christie detective episode and a low budget Mad Max style boat chase, meanwhile the B plot of every episode is Ed and Stede trying to run their inn

i’ve got so many unfinished fics in my drive and maybe even one published one where someone calls stede strong and brave for maintaining his softness even when life pushes back.

recently i feel like stede made a choice ed and izzy have both made in the past that they’ve always wished they never did, and stede could have been spared from. at the very least i think it hurt ed to see the version of himself he hates in stede. he probably thinks stede wanted to become that man for reasons other than stede has been bullied his entire life for being inadequate and told a man a bit like blackbeard is a real man.

call me crazy or whatever but i actually think a major thing that should be communicated between ed and stede is something on stede’s end. his trauma and his feelings and his issues. as it stands now, i don’t think ed understands what’s going on with stede. i don’t think he understands the person stede really wants to be. i don’t think he understands stede’s own issues of self-doubt and stede’s insecurities. hell i don’t think ed even has that much of a grasp of how unpopular and disliked stede has always been his entire life. and i think maybe if stede explained himself better, ed would understand more of what was going on. that he wouldn’t be seeing stede as manifesting something he wants to escape from, he would see stede as someone he needs to help escape with him.
