I'm at a fucking airport in Canada and a guy at the information kiosk said "Hello, bonjour" (as they all do) and my French Immersion Sleeper Code activated and I replied in French, to which he ALSO replied in French, but said a word I couldn't remember, and so, I said IN FRENCH, "I'm sorry, I'm not fluent in French, I don't know why I did this" and continued on in english

i was asked to elaborate so

when i was 4 yrs old we went to this aquarium near my hometown (more of a research facility that had like. a few things for the public to look at, and a gift shop) and there was a sturgeon tank off to the side. i couldnt really see at the time but i loved fish so i was having a great time

so anyways we get to the sturgeon tank. i was having trouble seeing the sturgeons and it was inexplicably just... open? like. there was a convenient Viewing Hole for the fish for small kids and taller people could just look into the tank. i was tall so i opted for the open air. except i couldn't see. it was kinda murky. so i leaned over to try and get closer to the fish and almost fell into a very small tank with 4 fish that were almost as big, if not larger, than me, who were all bubbling to the surface wondering what was going on

anyways as i almost fell into this tank by flipping myself over the edge i was saved by my sister grabbing my shirt and tossing me to the side

i guess my mom? or sister? complained to the staff bc the sturgeon tank was covered next year and much safer .

Hi/Bonjour! I hope it's okay to share this here. A few months ago, Québec's government announced tax credit cuts that had significantly negative impacts on the VFX industry in Canada, especially for about 8,000 workers in Québec. I myself was laid due to this announcement, after working in the industry for 8 years. Québec and the rest of Canada is one of the biggest players in the VFX industry, it would be a shame to lose this international reputation. There's currently a petition addressed to the National Assembly of Québec and I was wondering if you could share it here? It would be really helpful to get more signatures before November 5 2024, especially from QC, ON, and BC (as mentioned in the petition). The text of the petition is only in French, but here's an English translation here. Thank you so much!

It's a new day in Canada, and a new day in the life of Five Hargreeves.

Five woke up to a loud blast of sound that was definitely not his alarm clock—or any default ringtone he’d ever set.

Groaning, he patted around for his phone, finding it in the pocket of his jeans folded on the chair beside the bed. He didn’t need to check the caller ID. He would bet anything Lila had meddled with his ringtone when he wasn’t looking. Likely during a nap or one of the stops they’d made on the drive yesterday. 

“Wakey, wakey, sunshine~~!” came her unmistakable sing-song voice. 

He ended the call, clapping the phone shut, and collapsed back into his pillow with a groan. His reprieve was short-lived. Just as he pulled his blanket up, the phone started again, the same anthem blaring through the room.
