It's your local Demigod Anon, back at it again with a little bit of crackery and some scenarios featuring Diluc's devastatingly terrifying ways of maintaining his varied diet:
Diluc has eaten a mouse before while he and Kaeya were out playing as kids.
Diluc found it in a field and before he could process what was happening, he had it in his hands (more like talons) and had already eaten half of it.
Kaeya was terrified because Diluc had just bitten its head off and had swallowed a chunk of its body whole.
Diluc was also terrified because he wasn't really thinking about it and he was just hungry.
It doesn't help that Diluc's hands and mouth had still warm blood on them.
An impromptu dip into a nearby lake was enough to erase all suspicion of what had happened, both of them swearing to never speak of it again.
So next time, Kaeya makes sure to bring extra snacks just in case Diluc gets hungry while they're out and about. Mostly chicken strips.
Diluc can eat fruits, dairy, and veggies with no problem, but keep him away from large amounts of bread.
It's mostly the yeast in it, but it fucks him up digestively, physically, and emotionally.
One time, he ate a slice of pizza out of politeness and he was writhing in pain after he got home.
The stuff'll tear through his gut wall, get clogged up in his digestive tract, and it takes a great deal out of him to purge it from his system naturally.
That's not to say that bread is completely off the table, but it's not like he can have it all that often. They have to be hor-devours size and that's only once every other day.
If you don't see him touching any bread or things resembling it, it's for the sake of his bowel movements.
This is where juice becomes his primary guilty pleasure as it is sweet, refreshing, delicious, and is mostly liquid
This is also why he hates alcohol, as a primary ingredient in the process is yeast.
There was a 'chicken snatcher' at one point and the Knights have 'no idea' who it was.
The first time it happens, the farmer thought it was just a fox or something like that, so he put some traps out. Then there's nothing for like a month.
Then comes the instance that two were gone at once. This farmer suspects that it could be wolves, so he asks the hunters in that area if there have been any wolves. They say no, and this issue dies down again.
When five of them disappear over a three-day period, the farmer suspects hilichurls, so he calls upon the Knights due to that concern.
The Knights have a small group dispatched over to that area to patrol for a few days and investigate, but no signs of rogue hilichurls or anything of that nature could be found. So it's quiet again.
Three months later, a hen and the eggs it had been incubating for a few days had been taken and eaten as bloody eggshells and bones picked clean were found a few hundred meters away.
The thing is, the coop was locked from the outside there were no signs of breaking and entering, no signs of tracks inside the enclosure, and no holes were found underneath the fence for digging.
Then he looked at the roof and noted that it had been ripped off and put back, and he also found some unusual feathers. Feathers that he couldn't recognize.
The circulation of a 'giant and highly intelligent bird' that snatches chickens made their way to Mondstadt proper and in that instant Kaeya came to check it out himself.
The instant he saw the unusual feathers, he immediately goes to the farming community and says that the chicken snatching will no longer be a problem.
(cue Kaeya marching up to the Dawn Winery and going straight to Diluc's room in which he sees him with his wings out, surrounded by comforters and snoozing with chicken feathers and some blood all over the sheets)
"Goddamn it, Diluc. If it's gotten this hard to manage, then what have you been doing to yourself to get to that point?"
As you can see, since Diluc doesn't have a good track record of taking care of himself, the instinctual urge to simply hunt, kill, and eat creatures he considers prey is made blatant and is notably more difficult to control.
And in case you're wondering, his favorite type of meat is poultry and yes, Timmie's pigeons have suffered for it.
~ Diluc Demigod Anon
I really love how much you know about birds of prey.
And honestly, I love Kaeya doing his best to really help Diluc when he has impulses. I imagine when Diluc gets stressed (especially after he becomes captain), it gets hard to ignore and hard to pretend to be a normal human. If you let me indulge in my preference of big brother Kaeya, just kaeya being the best big brother he can and helping to try and keep Diluc calm. But also making sure he gets moments where he doesn't have to be human. Because he's not.
Imagine Diluc getting strong enough that he could maybe not really fly, but he can glide around with Kaeya. And maybe with Diluc being a Demi good, he has a little control over the winds and can get the winds to boost him and Kaeya.
