Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3: The makers of Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan starrer reveal the FIRST poster as they announce their arrival on Diwali 2024.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which marks the return of Manjulika and Rooh Baba, as well as Vidya Balan and Kartik Aaryan reprising their roles in the franchise, has aroused a lot of excitement among moviegoers. With two horror comedies in the franchise having a successful run at the movie office, expectations are high for this one, which will also star Triptii Dimri. To add to the excitement, the makers have released an announcement poster stating the release date as Diwali 2024.
Tumblr media
The anticipation is gone! The new poster for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which was released on social media on Wednesday, depicts the film's'main element', a tightly secured door with the lock tied up with multiple sacred threads. The poster features the dramatic slogan, 'Darwaza Khulega Iss Diwali (The door will open this Diwali)', implying the return of ghost Manjulika, who was confined behind closed doors in previous films in the franchise. Furthermore, the film promises to establish the tone for a cinematic experience that will have viewers on the edge of their seats.
Bhushan Kumar produced the Anees Bazmee film under the T-Series brand. This highly anticipated Diwali blockbuster promises to carry on the beloved franchise's history, following the huge success of its predecessors. However, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is slated to contain a new storyline that will include its trademark spine-chilling aspects, humorous dialogue, and catchy music.
Aside from the lead cast, the film features an ensemble supporting cast including Vijay Raaz, Ashwini Kalsekar, Sanjay Mishra, and Rajpal Yadav, among others. While the exact date has yet to be confirmed, the film is slated to be released during Diwali 2024, clashing with Rohit Shetty's ambitious cop drama Singham Again.

i must not let the urge to rewatch Jawan yet again disturb me. that urge is the mind-killer. that urge is the little-death that brings total mismanagement of time and pushes me gloriously behind in my k-drama watching. i will face this urge. i will permit the visuals of daddy!SRK and his cigars and malewife!SRK and his stepdaughter and his restaurant that he runs and the band of sapphics that he fosters to pass over me and through me. when it returns i will turn the inner eye to see the library of screenshots left in its previous days. where the urge has passed there will be nothing. only my sanity will remain.

Horror Literature Adaptations in Bollywood and Hollywood
Into the Dark World of American Horror Story: A Revolution in Horror Television
Since its launch in 2011, American Horror Story (AHS) revolutionized the conception of television horror, at least. It entered the fray with boundaries of storytelling and aesthetic terror. An anthology series, it was the brainchild of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk; this phenomenon occurs from a new season-long story annually, comprising elements of psychological depth, shocking twists, and disturbing visuals. Every season of American Horror Story is a single, self-contained story; however, there exist regular actors, thematic parallels, and overarching motifs that bind these narratives together into an aesthetic universe.
The Anthology Format: A New Paradigm for Telling Horror
The most differentiating factor of American Horror Story is, without a doubt, its anthology format. While most other television shows continue with the same characters and storylines season after season, AHS takes the concept of renewal to a whole other level, starting the process from scratch with an all-new plot and characters every year. This bold narrative framework allows its creators the freedom to go anywhere with any kind of horror subgenre and not be confined to a consecutive tale that has some continuity between seasons.
What makes this format even more appealing is a returning cast of actors. The fans get to have familiar faces that kind of look like Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters but in new roles because that shows their versatility. Reusing actors in different roles adds continuity but, at the same time, maintains the excitement of unknown twists since viewers never know who the hero or villain will be in a particular season.
Themes Beyond the Supernatural
When supernatural forces like ghosts, witches, and demons are the prominent features of American Horror Story, the truly scary episodes often live in real-life fears or anxieties. The horror series masterfully employs fantastical plots to explain what happens in real life, making insidious, everyday horrors something less even more terrifying.
For instance, Murder House is more than a ghost story. This season depicts the decline of the American family, adultery, and the consequences of unresolved trauma. Asylum touches on mental illness, religion, and an abuse of power because it questions the boundaries between sanity and insanity. Coven that mainly about a coven of young witches also involves themes of racism, sexism, and generational conflict.
Arguably one of the most charged seasons vis-à-vis its sociopolitical implications, Cult (season 7) is a seasonal response to the political context in which the show was produced. It is just coming almost four years after Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential elections and thus does not owe much to supernatural scares but rather the horrors of human behaviour in a television show that taps into one's anxieties regarding America's landscape after 2016.
It is because of this capacity to merge horror with social commentary that American Horror Story rises from the sphere of mere entertainment to a more thought-provoking television that makes the viewer think about the meaning lying behind the horror on the screen.
Visual Aesthetics: A Cinematic Approach to Horror TV
American Horror Story has always been noteworthy for its magisterial aestheticism. The writers, directors of photography, and production designers treat each season like a cleverly paced horror movie. Bold colour palettes, intricate set designs, and ever-so-unsettling camerawork come across to create a very immersive and often disorienting nature of a viewing experience.
The wardrobe line in American Horror Story is further used to support the plot with the dresses of characters. Each wardrobe line of a character reflects the inner world or the role that character might play in the story. The black, sleek, and tight wardrobes of the witches in Coven elaborate the power and control; the filthy and dreadful wardrobe of Freak Show reveals their deformity, both emotional and physical, resulting from being imprisoned within their twisted world.
This cinematic approach to horror television sets AHS apart from the rest within the genre, giving viewers a visual experience that is rivalled by many horror films in complexity and artistry.
Character-Driven Horror: Complex and Flawed Protagonists
The aspect of American Horror Story that really sets it apart is the need for complex, morally ambiguous characters. Traditional horror form does not see much distinction between heroes and villains, by which the blackest of black hats is slapped on the most evil of them, setting them irrevocably aside as abominable creatures. Conversely, this is the realm in which AHS excels, its characters best defined by shades of grey.
Characters of Sarah Paulson also usually act as emotional anchors of the show. One of the best performances in the series is her portrayal of Lana Winters in Asylum where the storyline observes a journalist's journey through horrific conditions at the Briarcliff Asylum. Paulson's characters usually suffer the most from emotional and psychological turmoil, so the fantastical happenings of the show are anchored in human vulnerability.
The villains of AHS are just as enthralling. From the sadistic Dr. Arthur Arden in Asylum to the charismatic yet deadly Countess in Hotel, starring the incomparable Lady Gaga, the show masters the art of creating antagonists that are at once terrifying and tragically human. These layered characters make the horror more personal and emotionally resonant, as their motivations and actions often have roots in deeply relatable human emotions—fear, jealousy, revenge, or survival.
conclusion American Horror Story has evolved from its small novel experiment in horror storytelling over the years into a cultural juggernaut that continues to redefine the genre. It gets the best of the finest things you'd have from traditional horror—a social comment, a visually stunning aesthetic, and complex characters—making it unique in television history. With every new season, American Horror Story will probably continue to move the yardstick of what horror on television can be, to be among the top and most influential horror series of all time.

Will Do Patti be the game-changer for actresses who turn producers?
While we wish Kriti Sanon the best of luck with her debut film, Do Patti, which will be available on Netflix on October 25, we can only hope that it will be the first of many game changers: a huge success among actress productions!
Tumblr media
We say this because, thus far, there has been an alarmingly high rate of flops when women become film producers. Even the few actresses who have turned filmmakers have had a dismal track record at the box office (Simi Garewal's Rukhsat, Hema Malini's Dil Aashna Hai and Tell Me O Kkhuda, as well as the telefilm Mohini and five films directed by Pooja Bhatt from Paap to Jism 2).
There are some exceptions. The exceptions in this list are insignificant, as we will see. Reena Roy's home productions, Muqabla (1979) and Sanam Teri Kasam (1982), were both hero-driven films, whereas Juhi Chawla's co-production, Chalte Chalte, was co-produced with an actor—Shah Rukh Khan—and directed by Aziz Mirza. Yes, Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika performed similarly. Priyanka Chopra Jonas' regional films, beginning with her smash-hit Marathi début, Ventilator, were profitable, while her Hindi film, The Sky is Pink, was not.
And the Rule! The list of flops is indeed voluminous, extending from Shashikala's Karodpati way back in 1961 (which, according to the late actress, "turned us into kangalpatis or broke!"), Nargis' Raat Aur Din and Sharmila Tagore's Tyaag to the aforementioned films as well as Neetu Singh's Chorni, Raakhee's Pugli, Taaqat (1982) and Zindagani, the Madhuri Dixit home productions, Dil Tera Aashiq (despite Salman Khan!), Yaraana (1996), Mohabbat (1997) and Padmini Kolhapure productions, Dav Pech and Rockford, and (according to rumor) the Zeenat Aman-backed Baat Ban Jaye are also examples.
As is customary, many of these films were "officially" produced by frontmen such as family members, relatives, or secretaries. "But the money obviously came from the star concerned!" says one industry source.
In the millenium, Lara Dutta's Chalo Dilli (albeit a wonderful film), Raveena Tandon Thadani's Stumped!, Manisha Koirala's Paisa Vasool, and Preity Zinta's Ishqk In Paris joined the list of flops. Shilpa Shetty's Dishkiyaoon, Anushka Sharma's highly anticipated NH10, Phillauri, and Pari (after which she chose the safe, OTT route with Bbulbul and Qala), Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak, and Taapsee Pannu's Blurr and Dhak Dhak (all excellent films). As evidenced by some of the examples above, it was not necessarily necessary for the actresses to appear in all of their productions. But that didn't change the situation!
Alia Bhatt made a spectacular debut with Darlings last year, which, like Do Patti, was streamed on Netflix, raising expectations for her next (this time theatrical) co-production, Jigra. However, that film, along with Kareena Kapoor Khan's The Buckingham Murders, collapsed like a house of cards.
The Trade View According to veteran distributor-exhibitor Raj Bansal, "Actresses are not as familiar with the commercial aspects as they should be." Filmmaking is about bringing something positive to the table, and they have their own perspectives on this."
He stated that there will always be stories that no one else wants to produce, but actresses believe they can create the best film for them! "It is always content that will hold, and if that does not, no film is going to work, however big the star," stated the director.
However, Bansal emphasizes the importance of budgeting. "A film like The Buckingham Murders has recovered its investment before the release through non-theatrical avenues and so it does not really matter if collections are not good!" He makes the case. "However, the terrain should be evaluated, and the target audience should not be limited to metropolitan areas. Also, if we look closely, directors such as Hansal Mehta (The Buckingham Murders) and Vasan Bala (Alia Bhatt's Jigra) do not cater to the masses."

“Tota Roy Chowdhury’s character in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is borrowed from Karan Johar’s childhood,” reveals latter
In an interview, Karan Johar discusses the slurs he received in college for having an effeminate body language.
Tumblr media
Filmmaker Karan Johar has spoken up about being called names in college for having a lewd body language. The latest film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marked Johar's return to directing, and he claimed that the event has remained in his heart ever since.
Johar claimed that he was "very effeminate" as a child and used to dance in his room to Hindi songs in an interview with Film Companion. He claimed that his father, Yash Johar, frequently observed him dancing and clapping and felt it was "great".
When he entered college, things did, however, alter. He insisted, "No one told there was anything wrong at that time. So I grew up thinking (that) this is fine. Much later when you go to college you realise when you carry that through and do those moves, and people look at you and laugh."
Then Karan Johar said, "You're called all kinds of things. There are terms used and it's still in my heart because I grew up with that feeling that I was laughed at for my body language or way of being. Somewhere Tota's character is borrowed from my childhood. When he says ‘Hunar ka koi gender nahi hota (talent has no gender)’, I believe that."
Even though Karan didn't think it was a traumatic event, he did question why other people couldn't accept him for who he was while his own father did.
For the uninitiated, Tota Roy Chowdhury portrays Rani's father, a Kathak dancer who suffers humiliation since his profession is connected to femininity. Rocky's son Ranveer soon joins him and picks up Kathak, responding appropriately to those who made him feel bad. On "Dola Re Dola," Tota and Ranveer give a solid performance.
