My county library system is one of the busiest in the country and the put on all sorts of cool classes. This month I took one about growing microgreens and last month I took classes on making foccacia and bolani (stuffed Afghan flatbread). I love my library and yes, it is that cool.

AMAZING!!! OH those look delicious, I hope they tasted as good as they looked! What a cool library, I love hearing about libraries being places of education :D

I think I mentioned this about a month and a half ago, but between September 18 and October 31, my goal was to try as many new things as possible. Here are the highlights:

Made it to the top of a 5.10a (rock climbing)

Experimented with Middle Eastern flavors in the form of za'tar, khobez, and bolani

Made 9 new recipes

Tried cooking with miso, za'tar, five spice, buckwheat, fresh pumpkin, and sriracha

Stamped a moon cake, made an arepa, and shaped fresh pasta (yes, a lot of these are food)

Witnessed an annular solar eclipse

Went to a district council meeting and a new library

Overall, I did or tried 33 new things in 44 days. I feel like that's a lot! I think this might just have to be my new year's resolution for 2024 too. So if you're looking for a fun goal, may I suggest trying new things?

Damien Jeckle is a social media influencer. Bolanie Harper is captain of a yacht that sails the Caribbean. They meet when Bolanie, day drunk, accidentally injures Damien, causing the delay of an imminent photo shoot. At a loose end on an island in the Caribbean, Damien convinces Bolanie to let him tag along with her for thirty days, the latest in a never-ending stream of 30-day projects that make up his life. As a couple, they shouldn't work, but this is a rom-com, so they will.

This is a sweet, funny story. Both characters are very likable, and the setting is unusual - for me, at least. The banter between Damien and Bolanie sparkles, though an ongoing joke about her "capping" his "pen" wore thin for me long before they were done with it. There's a lot of sex talk and innuendo, but this is a closed-door romance when it comes to doing the deed. Ordinarily, this would put me off, but author Oliva Gaines kept me interested and invested in seeing the couple through to their happily-ever-after.

Things felt a little rushed during the expected third-act misunderstanding and break-up (not a spoiler, honestly), but that's almost par for the course in a book of this length. Overall, an enjoyable read.
