Despite his gruff exterior and tendency to lash out, Bakugo is actually quite knowledgeable when it comes to academics. He may yell at his friends for "being extras," but he takes studying seriously as part of his goal to become the #1 hero.

When you first approach him about studying together for the 2 weeks before a major UA exam, Bakugo's immediate reaction is to scoff and reject the idea outright. "As if I'd waste my time with an extra like you," he sneers. But there's the slightest tint on his cheeks that gives away his state.

There are even times when you manage to grasp an idea before he does, and rather than exploding in frustration, Bakugo simply blinks and asks you to walk him through it again. The shift in his usual demeanor is so jarring that you have to pinch yourself to make sure it's really happening.

As you leave the library, wondering how someone so coarse could also be so attentive and insightful, Bakugo watches you go in silence before regrouping with his friends.

As they gathered in the common room after training, Mina noticed a notification pop up on Izuku’s phone, which was lying on the table. Curiosity got the better of her, and she leaned in to read the message. Her eyes widened in surprise as she read ‘Can’t wait to see you this weekend love!’ -Y/N.

Izuku just returned from the kitchen, holding his glass of water in his hand tightly, almost dropping it. His face turned red. “Uh, It’s… uhm, well…”

Kaminari perked up, he was always up for gossip. He grinned and chimed in. “Come on, Midoriya! Spill the beans! Do you have a boyfriend?”

The room went silent as everyone turned to look at Izuku. He nervously fidgeted with his hands, avoiding eye contact. “Yeah, I do..” he admitted softly.

Within seconds, a bunch of questions erupted from his classmates.

“How long have you been together?” Uraraka asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

“How did you meet?” inquired Iida, adjusting his glasses.

“What’s he like?” Todoroki asked, his expression calm, but his interest piped.

As questions followed each other, Izuku took a deep breath, trying to answer to the best of his ability. “A year nearly now. We met at a convention; he was showcasing his art last year. He’s really talented and popular.” he smiled

“That’s so cool!” Mina exclaimed, letting a soft laugh fall from her lips. “You should invite him over sometime.” She hummed out.

Izuku smiled shyly, reaching a hand up as he rubbed the nape of his neck. “Actually, he’s coming to visit this weekend..” he trailed off, his friends filled with excitement, continuing to ask questions throughout the rest of the week.

The weekend came quickly, and Y/N arrived at U.A, excited to see his boyfriend. He was greeted by All Might in the teacher’s room. 

“Welcome to U.A, young man.” Toshinori spoke up with a small smile. “Midoirya speaks very highly of you. It’s good that he has someone like you.”

“Thank you, All Might.” Y/N replied, feeling a bit starstruck. “It’s an honour to meet the symbol of peace himself..” he whispered.

“Likewise. Non-sense, no need for formalities. Call me Toshinori.” he spoke, making small talk with Y/N, impressed by his talent and rising popularity within the art industry. Eventually, he had to return to his duties, waving goodbye as he left Y/N to wait for Izuku.

Y/N pulled out his sketchbook, beginning to draw. His pencil moved deftly across the paper. He was drawing a detailed and dynamic piece featuring Izuku in action. The drawing depicted Izuku in his hero costume, mid-battle, with energy crackling around him as he released One For All. His expression is fierce, yet determined. Y/N added subtle details to the drawing, including a small heart in the corner, a personal touch that hindered his admiration for the other male.

“Y/N!” Izuku called out as he entered the room. 

Y/N looked up from his sketchbook, his heart skipping a beat at the sight of his boyfriend. He stood up and walked over to Izuku, pulling him into a gentle hug. "Izu," he responded fondly, holding him close for a moment.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Izuku said, his cheeks still slightly flushed from training and excitement. "I had to finish a few things in class."

"It's okay, Izu. I was just working on a new piece," Y/N replied, holding up his sketchbook to show Izuku the drawing he had been working on. The detailed and dynamic piece of art.

Izuku's eyes widened in awe. "Wow, Y/N, this is amazing!" he said softly, feeling both proud and touched by Y/N's talent and dedication.

"I'm glad you like it," Y/N said with a smile. "I wanted to capture how incredible you are as a hero."

Just then, the door opened again, and the rest of Class 1-A burst into the room, unable to contain their excitement any longer.

"There he is!" Mina exclaimed, rushing over to greet Y/N. "Welcome to U.A! We've heard so much about you!"

"Yeah, Midoriya talks about you all the time," Uraraka added with a grin.

"It's nice to finally meet you," Todoroki said, extending a hand.

Y/N shook Todoroki's hand, feeling a warm sense of belonging. "It's great to meet all of you too. Izuku has told me so much about his amazing classmates."

After a lively evening filled with laughter and stories, the energy in the common room began to wind down. One by one, Class members headed to their dorms, leaving Izuku and Y/N alone, nestled comfortably on the couch.

The room was dimly lit, casting a warm glow over the space. Y/N and Izuku sat close together, their bodies intertwined under a cosy blanket. Y/N’s head rested gently on Izuku’s shoulder, his breathing slow and steady.

Izuku glanced down at Y/N with a soft smile. “You know, I’m really glad you came to visit. I didn’t realise how much I missed you until now.”

Imagine a well-known supernatural university, Arcane, that is well known throughout the supernatural realm to be a safe area for parents who are creatures to send their children to get their education without running the risk of their children being exposed to the public. Public means being exposed to people who are your original humans and more often than not called normies, but it is the same humans who have been hunting them for generations. 

There is elementary school for monsters to teach any sort of creature to be able to bend during their middle and high years. They will be forced to go to the typical human education institutions. They need to be able to coexist with humans aside from the humans they already know growing up with. They need to be able to blend in with society flawlessly as if they are humans. They may need to branch out of their comfortable zone for job opportunities and such.

The humans mentioned previously who grew up with monsters since they were small children could have gotten permission to be able to attend those monster schools. It can be from families that are half-human to friends who kept their friends, who are creatures, safe from dangerous situations. Those cases need to be vouched by supernatural creatures to even let those human children attend within those schools.

The only exception to the rule is children who have a human parent but their supernatural parent is decreased, which leaves the child with no one to be able to guide them. They will be accepted with no questions asked. It is important to teach a creature how to be able to control their powers. It is risking the safety of everyone else who is a creature themselves to be in danger of being hunted down. 

The supernatural realm has strict rules to follow for their and others' safety.

However, Arcane University is forced by the outside government to let more of the original humans into their school, especially when a "freak" incident happened at a nightclub that resulted in one dead and many injuries with the same symptom of blood loss and broken bones. It was a nightclub that was 40 miles away from their campus. There were a lot of students from their university that night.  It doesn't help that there are few elected politicians who are supernatural hunters on the side. A very well known hunter within the supernatural realm has been seen outside of campus. They have had their sights on the university for the past few months due to an attack that happened within their sports competitions with rival schools. 

The eyes of those politicians and needing to prove this is a "normal" university like no other.

What once made a safe haven for supernatural creatures in university level to be forced to open their doors for transfer students and new students? Humans who don't know anything about their world. It is to protect the students within their university from being investigated any longer. 

The university created new buildings that aren't haunted by ghosts to prevent complaints from students. The new human students will have their own section on campus grounds, specifically at the dorms to houses where no creatures come is permitted on the premises. There are also a few fraternities outside of school grounds if they wish to join. 

They are trying to avoid incidents and problems. It’s the first year they are letting humans where all sorts of monsters are roaming the university. 

The monster students know they can’t mess with the humans unless they want to deal with the faculties' wrath. They were made aware immediately when the university was promoting extended days for applicants to be able to apply for the upcoming semester. 

However, the sports department has the most enraged monster students since there are going to be normies joining the sports clubs. They can’t reject them. Monster students didn't want to go out of their way to hide their appearance. They were once able to just let it go since this monster university. Now they have hidden their monster traits just because humans are being let in.

The classes are going to be mixed with monster students and humans. It’s inevitable that some students are becoming friends.  However, there is an important rule throughout the university: no parties after letting humans come into the university.

It did make a lot of monster students frustrated and angry, especially college frat houses. They make money at the entrance fee to pay off college debt or fund their activities, such as sports games.

Which results in some students sneakily having a party and inviting people who won’t snitch. This opens up the conversation about how humans are in such danger to be in monster houses where there is drug and alcohol influence. It’s just begging for an incident to happen, which is what the university is trying to avoid. 

Monsters are under the influence and losing grip of their human appearance, letting their monsters come through, such as earning their fangs.

You know you are a bit drunk, but you are seeing things that are making your heartbeat rise to beat rapidly. You did not just see someone bite into someone's neck and drinking from them. You didn't see scales on the blonde's cheeks when he accidentally electrocuted himself. 

Perhaps you got too much alcohol into your system. You were so trying to hold back from panicking to see strange things in the party. You were walking towards the exit of the house to only just run the rest of the way to the dorms.  You needed to leave. You no longer felt safe.

You will get used to it. This is going to be your new normal.

“Stop it you idiots.” Katsuki mumbled out, placing a hand over his mouth as he hid a grin, his eyes creasing slightly.

Mina opened up a sugar satchel, pouring the sugar into her drink before placing the paper on the side of the saucer. She picked up her spoon, subtly mixing her coffee, a giggle falling from her lips. “It’s pretty funny tho Kats..” she admitted.

Kirishima couldn’t help but snort, his arms resting over his stomach as he leaned over, trying his best to contain his laughter. “—-it’s just—aha” he took a breath, before he started to crack up laughing.

Y/N’s hands cupped around his mug as he took a sip of his hot drink. He glanced over at Kirishima, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he admired his fiancé from across the table.

PRESENTLY~

Teeth gritted and eyes closed tightly. Y/N clenched the side of his body, his hand barely covering the gauging hole through his stomach, crimson red liquid squirting out of the wound as he took a few steps forward, falling to his knees weakly from the blood loss.

Sounds of explosions in the distance nearby became quiet, and the stench of burning debris became more prominent as the smoke started to slowly clear up, Y/N letting out a harsh cough as he crawled little by little.

Through the haze, Y/N witnessed a familiar figure barrelling through the chaos. Kirishima’s hair was matted with sweat and grime, his muscles screamed in protest as he deflected another powerful blow, his hardened skin absorbing the impact. He glanced around frantically, searching for any sign of Y/N. They had been fighting side by side moments ago, but the tide of the battle had separated them. The pit of dread grew in his stomach with each passing second.

“Y/N!” he bellowed, his voice barely audible over the roar of battle.

Kirishima's breath hitched when he caught a glimpse of Y/N’s hero costume, there he laid, on the ground, unmoving, pooled in his own blood. His heart dropped. “No…,no, no, no!”

Without hesitation, Kirishima rushed through the swarm of enemies, avoiding each blow, his hardened fists smashing each piece of debris that flew his way in desperation to reach his lover. “Y/N STAY WITH ME!” he yelled out.

Y/N’s eyes fluttered open, tilting his head to the side slightly, his vision blurred as he spotted the red head run towards him.

Just as Eijiro was about to reach his side, a massive piece of crumbled building was dislodged by one of the surrounding villains. It hurled towards him with terrifying speed. He barely had time to react before the debris slammed into him, sending him flying across the battlefield. He crushed into the ground with a sickening thud, his hardened skin cracking underneath from the immense force.

“Kirishima!” Y/N’s voice let out a strangled cry, his hand reaching out weakly for his fiancé.  

As on impact, the building shattered, crushing Kirishima underneath in the process.

Across the battlefield, Sero and Denki fought their way towards their fallen friends. Sero’s tape wrapped around the legs of an enemy, yanking them off balance, while Denki released a wave of electricity that sent the other opponent spiralling.

“Hang on Y/N!” Sero shouted.

Kaminari reached where Kirishima was first, his hands crackling with his quirk still activated. “We need to get them out of here now!” he said urgently, his usual playful tone not present.

Y/N still on the ground, struggling to rise, his face pale and strained. “I need to see if he’s okay.” he croaked out, trying to push past the pain.

Sero quickly moved to Y/N’s side, his grip gentle but firm as he held him back. “You can’t Y/N.” he said, voice firm. “You’re too hurt, you need medical attention.”

“But Kirishima-” He protested, voice breaking.

Denki joined Sero, his expression serious. “We’ll get to him, but you need to stay here. We can’t risk losing both of you.”

Tears streamed down Y/N’s face as he struggled against them, his desperation evident. “Please let me go!” 

Sero’s grip tightened. “We will bring him back Y/N, trust us.”

Y/N’s breaths came in ragged gasps, his vision swimming from the pain and blood loss. “I need…I need…to see–..him–” he muttered, his strength fading. His legs gave out underneath him, collapsing into Sero’s arms.

“Y/N!” Sero shrekied, gently lowering him onto the ground.

“Y/N, hang in there!”  Kaminari mumbled, turning on his heel and rushed over to the crumbled building, immediately starting to search for Kirishima in a panic.

Y/N’s eyes fluttered, the world around him becoming a blur motion and a silence of sounds. He could barely make out the medics rushing towards him, their voices a distant echo. He felt himself slipping away, the pain receding into a cold numbness.

“Kirishima..” Y/N whispered weakly, his vision darkening. “I love you…”

And then everything went black.

She was one of your best friends, and she was perfect. You were in support courses and had ended up at the same hero agency internship. You saw her first, and she was beautiful, but you didn't say hi first. It wasn't that you were overly nervous or shy, but you didn't think someone in the hero courses would really be interested in being friends with you.

Then one day, there was a tap on your shoulder while you were reading on the UA campus after your classes were done. ”Hm?” Your hummed as your head began to turn, your eyes finishing the paragraph you were reading before traveling to the source of interruption. Oh!

”(Y/n) (L/n) right?” Mina paused and you nodded your head. She smiles, bowing her upper half. ”I'm Mina. Mina Ashido.” She introduced herself, and for a moment you just stared at her, before you realised you were probably staring too long and your eyes focused on her face, and with a smile you stood up, bowing back to her.

”Nice to meet you, Ashido.” You said, holding your book in your hand with your index finger holding it slightly open to where you left off.

”Call me Mina.” She replied, and she didn't give you time to respond before pointing to the book in your hand, your eyes following the direction of her finger. ”Whatcha reading?”

That's how it started. A conversation about a book you were reading. You tried to keep in concise, but Mina was interested, and asked questions about it. It felt nice to finally talk to someone about something you enjoyed. Before she left to meet her main friend group, she asked for your number which you happily gave her, and she promised to text you once she got back to her dorm that night. And she did.

That night, you and Mina texted until midnight about everything from class drama to pros and cons of the hero course vs the support course to goals after UA.

Over the next several weeks, you and Mina start to go to lunch together sometimes, from once a week to three times a week, and when you told her she didn't have to hangout with you, that she could go off with her friend group and that you'd be fine, she just smiled and told you she liked hanging out with you, and that you guys were actually helping her by giving her a break from them considering they're majority boys.

The first time Mina called you by your first name was the first time you snuck out and stayed out past curfew with her.

”Was the support course your first choice?” She'd asked, idling swinging her legs in the air from the swing she was on. Her eyes moved up from the sawdust covering the playgrounds' floor up to your eyes, where you were looking right back at her.

Nobody had ever asked you that. In fact, after awhile you'd forgotten overall that it hadn't been your first choice, sort of. You glanced away from her, looking into the dark sky. ”No, I suppose not.” Your hands moved along the cold chainlink that held your swing up. ”I mean, when I actually was applying to UA it was.”

When Mina didn't say anything, you took that as a cue to continue. ”When I was little I wanted to be a hero. Then at some point I realised I wasn't cut out for it. But I still really wanted to attend UA. I think the dream was more so UA than actually being a hero.” You paused and then dry laughed. ”I don't know if that made any sense, I might sound crazy.”

The air around you felt stiller than ever when Mina didn't speak for a moment. ”Mina?” You asked, eyes finding her face once again. Even under the street lights glow, she was beautiful.

”For the record, I think you'd make a great hero, (Y/n).” She almost whispered it. It made your heart skip a beat, and you gulped.

You had been swinging back and forth a little bit, and you set your foot down onto the ground to stop as much. ”Thanks Mina.” You gave her a small smile.

For a second as you turned to look down at the sawdust around your shoes, you could've sworn you saw her blush out of the corner of your eye. Must've been wishful thinking.

”Oh, support is meeting early in the morning. Can we head back now?” You asked into the air.

”Yeah, of course.” Mina replied, and stood up, taking two steps over to you with a hand offered out to you. Taking her hand in yours, you stood up and began walking back to UA. It wasn't running or speed walking, there was no rush. Her fingers glided against yours until your fingers interlocked with hers, her thumb circling around yours.

Even as you walked, hands together, your shoulders would consistently bump each other as you two walked close together, and you could smell her shampoo which was steadily becoming a very grounding smell.

A few months after that you found yourself working in one of UA's engineering labs, working away at a personal pet project. You had earbuds in, so you didn't hear the footsteps coming up behind you. Sometimes Mina would come visit you when you worked so when you felt a tap on your shoulder you just kind of expected it to be her. You tried to hide the slight disappointment on your face when you stood up straight and turned around, and it wasn't her.

Standing in front of you was a boy, taller than you and Mina. His hair was red and spiked upwards, and his eyes matched the colour. He looked familiar but you couldn't place where you'd seen him in the moment. Pulling your earbuds out, you set aside the tool you were using.

”Uhm, hi, can I help you?” You asked him, holding the earbud cords over your palm.

”(L/n)? I'm Kirishima. I'm in 1A,” Oh. That's where you knew him from. ”Mina said you could help me with some issues I'm having with my gear? She said you were the best.” Oh?

Suddenly, the previous disappointment was gone. You began to nod at the boy. ”She did? I don't know about the best but yeah I can help, what's up?”

The rest of that day, you were happy, and when Mina asked about that evening for your study session, you couldn't explain it to her.

Memories like those made her feel like a distant memory, although she was always on your mind. Graduation was a few years back, and as much as you tried to keep in touch with Mina, she was busy. You understood, of course, but it still hurt.

There'd been so many support class graduates that there was less need for the engineering kids to work at hero agencies, and you'd found work in a local car shop, applying your engineering into mechanics pretty easily. All the support contractors had their work cut out for them, but like you'd told Mina all those years ago; being a hero was never the dream. UA was the dream.

After UA, she was the dream. A recurring dream, maybe even haunting. Sometimes you'd get an email from Red Riot's agency, asking if you were free to meet with Kirishima to talk contracting, but you'd always come up with an excuse not to go. It always felt like a reinforcement that Mina would always be just out of your reach.

Seeing Mina, Pinky, on television was always such a bittersweet feeling to you. Of course, you were proud of her, but you also missed her like hell to the point sometimes you'd have to turn it off.

Sometimes you missed her so bad you'd go back to the cafe you and her frequented, or by her favourite fabric shop for her hand sewing projects. At least, it was her favourite when you went to UA. Maybe it was just the closest. Which shop was her favourite now? Did she even have time for the sewing projects she used to hold so dear? You tried not to think about it too much.

There were even times you'd go back to the playground at night, sit on your swing, look up at the dark sky, and you could swear you could smell her shampoo again, as if she'd just been there moment before you. Did she even use the same shampoo anymore?

You missed her more than anything in the world. It made you wish you'd said something when you were at UA.

You didn't know, but the answer was yes. She did use the same shampoo. Yes, she still enjoyed hand sewing, and yes that shop she loved was still her favourite. And she had been the park only moments before you, because despite not talking to you much, she did miss you. She thought of you quite often actually. But she blamed herself for letting communication between you two stop. Did you even have the same phone number? She knew you'd been turning down Kirishima's agency emails constantly, she worked there, so she knew you were still in the city. If she offered to do the agency email, and asked you to meet with her, would you say yes? Would you even want to talk to her? Did you settle down?

The questions were torturous as they danced through her mind, making her constantly ask herself why she ever let her schedule get so busy that her responses got to be less and less until you stopped texting her altogether.
