Overall, I ended up doing twice as many attacks this year as I did in 2023 - which was twice as many as I ended up doing in 2022! For some of these, I tried branching out and doing more dynamic pieces than what I usually draw, though part of me feels I could've done better on them.

Sadly, despite this, I didn't get as many attacks back this year - only four. Kinda took the wind out of my sails, honestly, and I'm still asking myself why that is. Too many friendly fires? Not enough attacks done on my end? I dunno.

Day 15: Endless: Ocean+ (Copy Kitty)

Copy Kitty is an explosive platformer with a mix-and-match weapon system and a lot of potential for destruction. Boki Lamira, a catgirl with the ability to copy her opponents’ powers, is sent into a simulation to develop her skills and train to be a superhero! ...Or to just blow up a bunch of robots.

Endless Mode has you fighting off waves of enemies in different environments. The Ocean environment is one such place, and after clearing it in standard endless you unlock Ocean+ which gives four different water-themed environments for you to battle through.

Boki can swim, or at least perform the 2D platformer shorthand of unlimited double jumps while in the water. She does occasionally need to surface for air, though. Boki can copy up to 3 weapons at once, and then fire them all in a combined shot. While underwater, explosive weapons have smaller impact, while Wave weapons have extra shots and Lightning ones deal more damage.

Put it all together and you have some ultimate destruction on your hands. Battles can get quite chaotic, but if you stay focused you can deal some major devastation. There’s a midboss every 5th and 9th wave, plus the end boss of the area on every 10th.

For this area, it’s the octopus of thundering rage, Darveyl. It’s huge and attacks with buzzsaws and electric beams. Only its head is vulnerable to your weapons, so you have to take care where you’re aiming from. It takes a whole lot of firepower to bring down, too.

The next area is Grukania Depths, a much deeper abyss. The high gravity here plus the sheer size of the area make surfacing for air difficult, and there’s lava at the bottom.

Next up is a raging storm in the Tempest. The rain provides the same bonuses to weapons as being underwater does, while you also have to watch out for lightning strikes plus tornadoes that push you around. There’s also no floor here, making things even more chaotic.

Combining Quick  and Lightning gets you an energy blade for melee attacks, which you can then enhance with another weapon. It still counts as a lightning weapon too, so it’s quite useful here.

The final area is the Corrupted Sea. Here, the water is replaced with oil which drains your air twice as fast, plus it reacts violently to fire or explosive weapons.

You can use this to your advantage, but you want to make sure not to hit Boki with the explosions too. This pretty much makes this the most difficult of the set.

Boki’s uncle Savant is also playable. He naturally floats and projects his attacks from a window that follows him around, making him quite a bit different than Boki. He can only combine two weapons at a time, but for him, the order of combination matters.

He’s more technical and harder to use, but can pull off some pretty impressive feats once you’re used to him.

Endless mode, as its name suggests, doesn’t really have an end and just repeats the sequence until you die. Since it gets harder every round, getting up to the higher waves is no easy task. My record for this one is around wave 51, last I checked. Also, have some music. Watermelon Waterway is the theme for the Ocean evnronment, and it’s pretty catchy.

This is Boki using the attack known as Summon Dragon (the combination of the powers Explode, Force and Tornado). The thing that bugs me about the in-game attack though is that it doesn't actually have a dragon graphic or anything! (hint hint, azure and raibys?) I tried my best to make a decent replacement one but it looks kinda... goofy? I dunno. Let's just ignore the fact that I went on a wild goose chase looking for a reference for drawing a dragon that didn't actually exist, anyway...

Forgive my inability to make good backgrounds, I just made some cave-like scenario with glowy lights kinda like some of the ones you find in the in-game terrain but not really... Eh. Also apparently that texture on her feet was crystal all along (same with the teeth, claws, etc.), so that was a change I had to make when her outline was already done! <.<

Really proud of how Boki herself came out though. Although I didn't use the alternate outfit colors for when she has other powers, but whatever, I wanted her default colors here. I don't know what to think of the characterization given here because not much of it is given in the game either, so... yeah.

Enjoy, anyhow! Remember to see the image in full size ("Zoom" isn't enough) because it looks best that way, none of that pesky anti-aliasing to be found here! This is the biggest entirely digital drawing I've made so far, it took a day and a half and most of that was the subpar background... I went into 3 AM finishing this!

Thought I would also put the work in progress pics of my Boki sculpture on here too. There isn't much of me painting it since yellow and white is ultra tedious to paint.

I do plan on making some more Copy Kitty characters as well since I really enjoyed it.
