India is a Hindu state for all practical purposes. The secularism thing is not real but it's put in place to give a sense of normality to the minorities. We will be a Hindu state based on sheer numbers. Muslims are very urban population (this is because of lot of reasons) but what we don't want is our population taking arms against each other. Let me tell you one thing, indian Muslims are not considered real Muslims by majority of Muslim countries. Because in India Islam is very complicated. You have sufis, you have bohris you have fakirs. Non Indian Muslims don't really understand Indian Muslims.

We can spend our energy on fighting climate crisis, making our country a better place or we can use our energy fighting each other.

If Hindus could be destroyed we wouldn't be here now would we. Past is past, we are here now. And what matters now is the problems of now... If you get stuck in past you can never live the present.

as an atheist, i believe that religion is the root cause of all evil in the world, and when religion takes the form of religious extremism to promote political agenda, it gets ugly, no matter what religion practices this.

but if push comes to shove, ill take a hindu majority state any day over an islamic majority state. religion, in itself, is bad, but different religions have different levels of bad in them. between hinduism and islam, the former is the lesser evil for me.

Memes aside, it is very interesting that you think all religions are bad but there are some religions that are uniquely MORE evil than others. It's almost like, you believe Hinduism to be a special case of religions where it's more tolerant than others against your better judgement. I'm sorry to tell you that the only reason India isn't AS bad as the Islamic states you mentioned is because the Constitution of India was set up (and was/is updated, when need arises) to act as a safeguard against some of the worst of what some Hindus are capable of. We wouldn't have had to create laws specifically criminalising casteist violence if Hinduism was quite as tolerant as the narrative wants us to perceive it.

No religion is uniquely more evil or less. It's all just people wielding the power that organised religion gives them. There is always a need to have checks and balances to ensure the people don't get too cocky about said power.

I think you might have more work to do in unlearning the biases that you have grown up in your life. Some of this shit is ingrained in us that we don't even notice what we're saying.

TDF Ghar We #Karachiites are #foodies!  So, when we received a circular for a #Bohri food night, we jumped at it, on the roof of TDF “Ghar” (“house” in Urdu)- super dinner, pleasant weather, outstanding view of Quaid-e-Azam’s Mausoleum, typical Parsi loudness and laughter, great service by our Bohri hosts & excellent value for money! However, what was just as interesting was #TDFGhar- one of the old, pre-partition houses in the old city of #Karachi, wonderfully restored by TDF.  Quoting from TDF’s history – “TDF Ghar was built in 1920-30’s.  This house was initially owned by a Hindu woman, Haribai Motiram, which she sold in April 1948 to Hajiani Hanifabai for her daughter Aisha Bai Dawood in June 1948 as a residence. In April 1961 the House was donated to #TheDawoodFoundation.  In 1965, #AhmedDawood established Hanifa Hajiani Haji Gani Vocational Training Center for Women.  The training center used to enroll over 150 students per batch and train them in typing, cooking, sewing, painting, hand & machinery embroidery and English language.  TDF Ghar is open to all to promote informal learning spaces in Karachi.  TDF Ghar is based on a self-sustainability business model- revenues generated from rentals and tickets is re-invested in the upkeep and development of the Ghar.” With a small café on premises, we experienced families, youngsters & groups socially interacting with each other; playing board games; reading; using the library.  It was an amazing experience.  It was surreal finding such an oasis in bustling Karachi!
