All of whom are “existing” characters that I repurposed because I thought it would be fun, and why not give some light to more of my favoured Fazbear Frights characters. (I might get flack for some of these from those who do like the characters, but I love them too!)

Foxy Bully, also known as Michael Afton

The tried and true FNAF guy, ‘twas his brother killed and his father who did the killing. Overall, it’s a decent way to view the story, and doesn’t make my head explode (like goddamn robot children). Furthermore, the Security Logbook has a section where you’re tasked remember as a child “what prizes would you want to see behind the prize counter”, and Mike draws himself with a mullet, tank-top, shorts, and bracelets. So that’s good enough for me lol

Bonnie Bully, also known as Oscar Avila

The first of the tormentors who is kinda out there! There is the popular theory that he is Jeremy Fitzgerald, considering FNAF’s obsession with Jeremy’s and bunny paraphernalia; but Oscar also has a relation to bunnies (Plushtrap chaser)! It kinda works, and the skin tone itself was inspired by @namedoggo ‘s version of Oscar (which is super cool, please check it out!)

I also like to think he is Cassie’s father, because it kinda checks out, but I’m deciding to be oblivious to other current revelations within the community.

Freddy Bully, aka Alec Renner

Speaking of revelations, this character is full of them! Freddy bully is such a hot topic because there are so many people he can be (Jeremy Fitzgerald, Mr. Renner (Tales from the Pizzaplex), Oswald’s Dad), but I thought Alec would be a cool idea because of the whole Lonely Freddy Bodyswap occurrence and that he canonically favours Yarg Foxy. Furthermore, this was kinda tail-ended by the Ao3 fic, “I am Machine” by Hideaway_In_The_Imagination_World or @hideawaysplace on Tumblr. Wherein which Alec was friends with Oscar in the past.

I kinda also tied in Mr. Renner with Alec’s last name (because he doesn’t have one. It made me frustrated for a while), because in Tales from the Pizzaplex, the elementary principal is described as having a Freddy mask and his eyes leak oil? (I don’t actually have the tales books yet, I’m waiting until the box set releases until I get it. So all my info on this guy is limited to the several fandom wikis)

I don’t really want to tie in Oswald’s father, but Alec does have a sister, so Hazel could have the mask? Or Oswald’s dad could’ve just won it as a prize, not everyone who has a mask has to be the bully themself. (Which is ironic for Mr. Renner, but eh.))

Chica Bully, aka Sam O’Neil

Probably the most out there, but this character is practically never talked about with fan theories (for gods sake, literally everyone else in the squad has been theorized to be Jeremy Fitzgerald at some point (including fucking Michael at one point because of his multiple aliases), EXCEPT FOR HIM..?). Furthermore, it was kinda difficult to pick a good character for him, as I wanted to make it so the tormentors have some relation to the character they had the mask of. I really enjoyed Blackbird when I read it, and when I read it the first time, I thought Sam admitted to actually being a bully years before the story itself (he just got back at bullies, but the point still stands). Regardless, why not :)

I feel like no one really does rec lists anymore! But last night I was feeling and sappy and mushy and decide to put together my own little list of fics I love. These are in no particular order, and they don't follow any real theme/tropes other than I dearly love them all, and you should definitely give them a read!

The Instinctual Gravitation Towards Warmth by kimkhimhant (@kimkhimhant)

This is my comfort fic. No joke, this is what I read when I want to die. It’s angsty as all hell, it’s made me cry, but it is so indescribably good. Kim is an addict going through recovery, finding love and family along the way. He hits rock bottom—arguably multiple times—but always claws his way back, always with the support of the people that love him. It’s such a beautifully written and cathartic story, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it. But it’s almost certainly the fic I’ve reread the most. 

Error in the Code by BlackwaterVial (@blackwatervial)

Sneaking this VegasPete onto my otherwise KimChay list bc it altered me. I think most people already know what it is, but jic: it’s a sci-fi/cyberpunk/android AU, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever read. I go feral for androids and this fic delivers in all the best ways. The world building alone makes me weep. But all of the characters interactions, the way we get such an in depth feel for everyone despite the limited PoV, and the most satisfying take I’ve seen on android artificial intelligence ever—I can’t recommend this story enough.

Silver for Truth by snickerdoodlles (@snickerdoodlles)

This fic is the Kim & Khun vs. Tawan team-up we deserve. Kim is a ruthless, demented bitch, that's too cool to beat Tawan to death bc what if he messes up his wrists right before a show?? Big, get 'im. Kim is the feral-est cat ever, leaving behind evidence and bodies for Kinn bc saying "hey bro, I still love you/look out for you" is too much emotion for him. The fic is also from Tawan's PoV which also makes it the funniest thing ever, for reason that I won't spoil <3

The Wiked Lies We Live by shubaka (@shubaka)

Oh my god, this fic. Canon divergence (technically??) where most things happen as normal... except KimChay have been bodyswaped at the start of it. The little twists Shu puts on the events of canon, given it isn't the correct characters experiencing them (such as Big being very confused about why Kim is suddenly nice to him??) are so much fun.

A Portrait of Affection by froginthesun (@froginthesun)

Kim is an artist and Chay is the part time nude model he hires. ‘Nuff said right there, except no it isn’t, this fic is beautiful. Kim’s frustration with his craft is palpable, and so is the way he rediscovers his passion through Chay. The writing is wonderfully detailed, every chapter felt like walking through a museum. And tension slowly building between them—unf. 

Sunshine in My Closet by moneskin 

This is an A/B/O AU that is so satisfying to read. Typical hilarious boundary violations (Chay stealing Kim’s clothes, a bewildered Kim handing over a freshly worn outfit, having barely any idea who this strange kid is) characteristic of the AU, but then the story also delves deeper into more serious topics. Chay has a history of abuse from a past alpha that he has to learn how to navigate with Kim, who is incredibly patient and works hard to make Chay feel safe and loved. Overall a very sweet and comforting read. Seriously, this fic makes me melt.

Your Body Feels Like Disrespect by Blue_Jay (@bluejayfiction)

This fic is so funny because it begins with Kim blurting out, in the middle of an Important Mafia MeetingTM, that he and Chay aren’t having sex, and then wanting to die about it. Followed by Kim’s family trying very hard to both support and terrorize him. It’s hilarious, sexy, and one of my favorite reads when I need a pick me up. (Bless Kinn’s determination to be a Good and Supportive Brother, and Vegas for being the Worst Person Ever.) 

In Silent Screams (In Wildest Dreams) by BelladonnaWyck and StratsWrites 

This is definitely a darker fic. There’s DubCon, Kim is generally Sketchy, but it’s very hot. And I love explorations of his character where he isn’t just outwardly psychotic and cruel. This fic shows the kind of dark that I think Kim could have been, if you just tilted his character a little to the left. He still seems very much the way he is in canon, but he’s also… a lot more calculating and cold, sometimes. I love it. 

Forget-me-always by bisexualbard (@bisexualbard-writes)

I cannot sing the praises of this fic enough. I think it’s probably tied for IGTW for my most-read fics. I’ve probably read this one more often in reality, but only bc it’s shorter. But oh my god, does it hurt. Kim gets struck with amnesia post-break up, does a little light stalking, and gets Chay to help him learn/remember who he is. In the process realizes that wow his life sucks, and there’s no way he wants to go back to it. Especially if he’s the kind of person that hurt Chay. He would rather start over. (Ofc, he doesn’t get to). This fic makes me cry, it’s so good 

Coffeehouse Play by AirgodSLV

This is a canon divergence AU that I adore. The KimChay characterization is on point. I love that despite everything going on around them, they also get to be two boys that hang out and play videogames and try to shove each other off the couch while Porsche makes dinner. Given the age difference it’s so easy to make Kim Older and MatureTM, but he’s still a kid, and this story never once forgets that. It felt so honest and true to his character that Kim does have a lot of plans, and he’s very smart, but he’s also still so young, and sometimes shit just goes wrong. 

Want and Need by bisexualbard (@bisexualbard-writes)

God, this fic. T h i s f i c. Post-canon Chay goes to therapy and becomes a camboy (in that order) and it’s delicious. Watching the steady breakdown of his and Porsche’s relationship is so satisfying. Everything one of them does to make things worse feels awful, but is so in character that it’s hard to be mad at them for their decisions. Kim readily giving up control if it means he can be with Chay, and Chay getting a crash course in how to dom. All of it is just. So good. This is such a good fic

Your Look, Through This Lens by WildelyDawn (@wildelydawn)

AU where Chay becomes Kim’s photographer. This fic emotionally hobbled me. Just a fair warning. You will cry. But that said, the ending isn’t nearly as sad as the tags would have you believe! At least in my opinion. I think it’s fairly open/hopeful, and beautiful either way. I love the way this fic shows how Kim balances being Wik while also being part of the mafia. And I love how temperamental he is; always hot and cold, while remaining pretty even as far as how he expresses himself. Always very aloof/detached, just out of reach, with Chay never really sure where he stands/what Kim wants. But at the same time the fic happens just before Kim gets a big break, and the subtle ways he shows his excitement and nerves as things start coming together—it’s wonderful. 

Love’s a Two-Way Dream by giraffeter (@giraffeter)

This fic is dark. Kim atticwife’s Chay and it’s not a good time. But!! It’s not just dark for the sake of it; Kim is a genuine sociopath, yes, but it unfolds slowly. You get a sense of creeping dread as he does things that are just a little bit off, until finally the Big Bad Thing happens. At first he seems normal, playing the part of good and respectful boyfriend. But it just goes downhill from there, and I love every word of it. The ending especially is very satisfying. 

In the Dark of the Night by bisexualbard (@bisexualbard-writes)

Not to recc everything Bard writes, but… This is a rape recovery fic that I feel handles the subject matter incredibly well. There’s no gratuitous rape scenes, and even with the flashbacks, I don’t remember any of them being incredibly detailed. I think Bard handled the fic with incredible respect and grace. This is another one that’ll make you cry. The way Chay handles his past trauma while trying to have a relationship with Kim is so painfully real. And so is the way Kim wants to help him, but doesn’t really know how. But they figure it out together, and it’s amazing. (Also Kim acquires a stabby child in the form of an OC that I adore.) I just love the path Chay's recovery takes in this fic, it's so visceral and relatable. It's all around just. So good. I love this fic for the same reason I love IGTW and it's because both fics show an excellent depiction of recovery.

Chains and Crowns, A Flower Can Both Make by Sweet_William (@sweet-william-writes)

Incredibly Regency AU. Historical AUs are some of my all time favorites, and this is everything I didn’t know I needed. Sweet_William captures the essence of an Austen-esque style while still making this feel like the KinnPorsche characters. Chay is wonderfully feisty, Kim is delightfully complex, and the various family interactions always had me cackling. 

Simple Little Secrets by CorvusCloudburst (@cloudburst-ink)

Chay sees the future when he touches people. Kim thinks he’s either insane, a spy, or a conman. Oh, and Chay’s visions of Kim? Always sex-related. The shenanigans are endless. What more do you need?? They’re both crazy4crazy and it’s my favorite thing ever. Their banter is snappy and fun, the writing is sexy, and it never once gave me second-hand embarrassment despite Chay’s horrible situations.

help i didnt know asks were off fixed that now thank you... I have two fics i keep in my back pocket as like, exemplary distillations of their whole thing (one in college vs one of their usual superhero stuff,) these are;

Supersymmetry and Night Blooms

Rly good examples of their usual shenanigans, the second one is directly based on a canon comic issue that *feels* like fanfic by a prolific yaoi author, the first is set in a modern-time re-imagining of the fantastic four where they meet in a supergenius internship thinktank for gifted youngsters. There's other fics that are good but i think they might be super confusing without canon context! which leads me to my second point. After you read these fics...

A lot, and i mean A LOT of official doomreed stuff feels straight up like fanfic. Either because its so beautifully woven or insane in concept (doctor doom points a gun at the real life Jack Kirby and Stan Lee to get himself written back into reed's life in his 3rd ever classic appearance, in the 60's, THAT'S the bodyswap issue)

There's even an RPG INSTRUCTION MODULE based on the idea of an earth where Reed & Victor partner up in college, Reed dies a tragic death (via their lab experiments) and Victor assumes such a traumatized widow role in his honor that he grows up to be a golden hero and protector of earth LOL (still a bit nuts):

This is not even to touch on the breadth of all their comic issues and little moments together. Victor canonically delivers Reed's second child and he chooses her name! Shes treated like his child too and calls him uncle doom!!

...Victor even asks Reed out on candlelit dinner dates for a yearly Latverian holiday!

Good Omens fic recs #51

Under Pressure by CopperBeech/@copperplatebeech - A/C, 5k words.  This is a sweet little fic mostly focused on Crowley's pining through the ages, and his habit of sneakily kissing Aziraphale when they're both completely plastered.  Very sweet and fluffy; the pining isn't too painful and we get a very loving glimpse of the bodyswap in here as well.

Birds of a Feather by idiopathicsmile/@idiopathicsmile - A/C, 4k words.  An extremely fun and at points straight up funny story in which Aziraphale builds a nest for the two of them and Crowley does not understand why until they force themselves to have an actual conversation.

Jesus, Etc. by fellshish/@fellshish - A/C, 7k words.  This is a very light-hearted take on S3 in which Aziraphale keeps finding reasons for Jesus not to start the Second Coming, like Taylor Swift tickets.  Crowley finds himself helping out despite himself.

A Narrow Escape to the Country by shaggydogstail/@shaggydogstail - A/C, 11k words.  A fun outsider POV story in which, post nebulous S3 resolution, Crowley and Aziraphale go on a reality house-hunting show and the producer has to deal with them being their usual very weird selves.  The characterization in this is so good, and the dialogue, that their personalities come through great through mostly outsider POV.

Pray for Plagues (To Come Down on this Egypt) by veganthranduil/@veganthranduil (fic), A_J_Crowley/@songbird-of-eden (art) - A/C, 36k words.  Honestly I'm shocked by how few comments this story has.  It's this astonishing little novella in which Crowley and Aziraphale drive across Europe fleeing a second Apocalypse after S1.  There are a bunch of stellar original characters and world-building, and the story just drives you forward to conclusion in a way I really enjoyed.

Yurio crushing on Yuuri

“How many times do I have to say it?” Yuri snapped, warily eyeing the sparkler he was now holding out to him. “That’s not my name!”

Yuuri just smiled, stepping a bit closer.

“Ah, sorry…I guess it’s already become a habit,” he replied with a shrug as well as a tilt of his head.

The fizzing light turned the rims of his glasses into gleaming squares, and the reddish tint of his irises was thrown into sharp relief, his eyes no longer appearing so inky as they strained to make out shapes in the dark. Not that Yuri spent a lot of time thinking about that…

“Anyway, do you want to light a sparkler? I could use your help in preventing Makkachin from trying to eat them, and besides, I noticed you hadn’t lit one, yet.”

He was about to retort that that was because he wasn’t seven years old, but something in the pig’s gaze made him reconsider.

Yuuri just looked so damn hopeful for some reason. As if the entirety of his night rested upon whether or not Yuri would join him in running around with his arm stretched aloft like a(n admittedly graceful), luminescent maniac. He made a tutting sound before looking back out at the surf.

He’d stood at the edge of the Gulf of Finland many times, marveling at the distance out to the Baltic Sea when standing in St. Petersburg. But there was something about the ocean here in sleepy Hasetsu that tugged at his chest in a way he’d never experienced in Russia.

“Fine,” Yuri mumbled, wedging his heel a little too deeply into the squelching sand. He almost stumbled and fell. “Probably best if Viktor’s dumb dog doesn’t wind up in the hospital with a burnt tongue.”

Yuuri giggled like he’d just told the most hilarious joke and he wondered why his face was feeling so warm, even with the frigid water underfoot.

The above excerpt is from an upcoming scene in my Viktuuri developing relationship/bodyswap WIP. The somewhat unhinged premise involves Viktor realizing that he and Makkachin can swap bodies for a 3 hour window of time every day: a phenomenon that begins in the days leading up to Yuuri and Yurio facing off against one another in the Onsen on Ice challenge. Obviously, this has major impacts on Viktor and Yuuri’s dynamic, especially when Yuuri spends time with “Makkachin”, not realizing he is sharing things with his coach (rather than his coach’s dog).

Writing this fic has been a ton of fun, 1) because I tend to mostly write post-canon content, so this gets me out of my comfort zone, and 2) because writing from Yurio's POV as he is forced to watch Viktor’s interactions with Yuuri is always so interesting. Especially with respect to Yurio’s blatant admiration for him, which Viktor can't help but tease him for.

I took a break from writing this story for a few months, but recently was re-inspired to continue working on it. I hope you'll give it a chance!

I think we all sometimes yearn for the days when we thought Marvel would let the Avengers be friends who all lived together and fought supervillains in between movie nights.

Though these stories weren't all written or set in 2012 post-Avengers 1 era, but they all feature that team hanging out, having fun, and supporting each other through difficulties.

'It' being a pillow upon which was an almost frighteningly accurate illustration of Loki, their on-and-off again nemesis. "I don't--how did you even get this? Who would MAKE this?" Clearly Steve doesn't find the attention-to-detail on Loki's costume as hilarious as Tony does, which whatever. Like he said. Killjoy. A.K.A The one time Tony buys Thor the world's worst souvenir and it somehow worked out in the end anyway.

for the suki zuko bodyswap AU- nope! Azula has no idea that there's anything amiss with her brother. that said, Suki deeply unnerves her because there's something so familiar about her, and yet she's never met her before. and she seems familiar with Azula too. she expects the fight against Suki to be easy, but it is very much not that. she only loses in the end because Mai and Ty Lee threaten the other Kyoshi Warriors, leaving Suki with no choice but to surrender.

as for the spirit bridge zuko AU...

oh yeah. there's definitely people who are aware of the existence of the bridge. they've heard that it takes the appearance of a teenage boy with a burn scar on his face- but there seems to be a lot of those around ever since the Fire Nation began their invasion of the Earth Kingdom. they don't realize that there are in fact, not a lot of scarred teenage boys around. it's literally just the one- and the scar isn't even a symbol of the Fire Nation's violence against the Earth Kingdom. it's just domestic abuse.

zuko absolutely causes a lot of confusion in his wake. some people will link the bridge to Li, the refugee boy who lived in their town for a couple of weeks and did (insert job here) during the duration. others won't- because they'll link him to Zuko, the prince of the Fire Nation and heir to the newly crowned Fire Lord Iroh. none of them will realize it has been the same guy all along.

Fun like adults!

Today I invited my neighbor Marcus to play with me and my uncle, I don't think they knew that the bet of swapping our bodies if we won was real, but I don't care! This is great I feel so hard and my head is full of all these weird adult thoughts probably in a couple of hours my brain will be able to rearrange all these thoughts, and I'll know everything Uncle Mike knows I'm so smart now I'm sure I'd get an A on the math test I nearly failed last week, a moment ago we were a pair of pale, skinny kids, and now we're in the muscular, tattooed bodies of my uncle and his friend Robert.

Now that we're adults and have the body of My Uncle Mike and his friend, we can have fun like adults! - My best friend Terry and I bought to have the best vacation of our lives, Uncle Mike and his best friend live together, so when my mother asked my uncle to take care of me during the summer vacation, he and his best friend They went to live in our house to keep an eye on me.

My uncle and his best friend Robert are great! They have huge muscles, they have a huge truck, and they always laugh and hug each other when they are together, they have a couple of identical tattoos in the encores that we even have now. They even train together! That must be why they lock themselves in the exercise room for a few hours. It must be cool to sleep in bed with your best friend every day, like a sleepover that never ends.

Ooh, I'd love to hear about Rock n' Role Reversal, also that's an incredible title 🔥

Oh, I've shared a little bit of that one before with you, but I don't think I've talked too much about it publicly.

"The Rock 'n Role Reversal" is a DR fic (naturally) where Kiyotaka, after stressing himself out thinking about how ill-fated a first meeting between his best bro Mondo and his father Takaaki would be, makes a poorly-worded wish that ends up accidentally switching their bodies.

It's a really fun story so far! I wrote something in the HISverse series with the same base concept before, but as time went on, I found myself unsatisfied with how I handled it. I thought I was being "subversive" to not have the bit of them actually struggling to navigate one another's lives and only showing the aftermath, but I realized that that was just, y'know, cutting out the fun part of the premise. In that context, too, the two already know each other and are well aware of their common ground of caring about Taka. I thought it would be a lot more interesting for them not to know each other at all (aside from Takaaki knowing Mondo's reputation) and learning of their mutual connection only after growing to appreciate the other.

And thank you for the title recognition! 🙏 The macguffin that Taka wishes on is a magic rock, and it took me SO LONG to figure out how to incorporate that with the bodyswap premise to get something good. And because of the title, I actually started incorporating some old rock 'n roll music into the fic itself, and that's been fun.

It's been great to write Takaaki more, too. I have much more solid headcanons about him as a person and the Ishimaru family story than I did four years ago, so I feel he's a lot richer in terms of character now. You wouldn't know this since you're not in the fandom, Rose, but we basically only have about a paragraph's worth of information about this guy spread across an in-game bio, a conversation between three other characters about him, and the game's art book. Anything else you basically have to build out yourself with the puzzle pieces given. Having him be a co-lead has been a delightful chance to flesh him out and make him feel alive.

I'm really proud of it so far. It's silly and goofy, but it has a lot of heart and introspection from our leads. I can't wait for people to see the final product! When... whenever that comes out. 😅

I'm fairly far in the direction of aphantasia; I simply do not picture my ships having physical existences because I can't picture them period!

not a big deal to me! unless it is obvious from canon that sex is important to these characters, in which case, it's important to me because it's part of writing them in-character

I'm not personally into kidfic or other narratives that are inherently focused on themes of reproduction, pregnancy, parenthood, or the wonders of children/childhood/babies. OC kids are particularly likely to be props in a story that's about those themes, so they're a flag that a fic is likely not going to be for me!

1. Fave genre to write:

I find it the most fun to write humour, I think, but I don't actually do it very often; only the occasional fic idea I want to write actually lends itself to being humour. I think a lot of my fics are…..idk, literary fiction that happens to be in an sff setting? focusing on style, character, relationships, and theme.

2. Preferred tense and pov:

strong preference for past tense as my default, but present tense can sometimes be useful for certain effects - I just don't like to use it unless I have good reason to!

for pov I like to mix it up, because different ones can serve different purposes. first, second, and third, but also within third doing either limited or omniscient. I like experimenting with the different things you can achieve with pov! fandom house style is limited third so I do default to that, but I think I have written fics in all the possible varieties of pov!

3. Tag you've used most:

Post-canon, with 5 uses out of 60 works on my ao3. You can tell I don't tag profligately - I mostly use tags as a way to tell readers who see the fic what kind of fic it is, rather than trying to draw in more eyes by having my fic show up in every possible relevant tag. I'm just not that interested in that style of marketing for myself I guess, for better or for worse!

4. What inspires you to write:

A number of intersecting factors! it's fun and interesting creative work, it's a way to engage with thinking about the fandoms and characters I love in a more structured way that lets me dig deeper, it's a way of regularly connecting with my cheerleader verity, it feels good to finish a thing and post it online for accolades, it's a way of connecting with others in fandom and being excited about our shared fandom together, and probably more!

you'll note that none of this is the type of "I am just driven to write" or "I have so many ideas I simply have to get out" that I often see from people who identify as writers. I don't think I'm an obligate writer, but it is a hobby that brings me lots of joy and pleasure regardless, and I love having it in my repertoire of hobbies!

This added to the forbidding impression he gave to the anxious northern official. After looking at the paper in his hands for long enough only to take in a few phrases here and there, Luo Binghe's eyes snapped up again, glittering and dangerous. The memorial said something about a mating season, he thought. The location of the ritual seemed to be the problem at hand. Tedious business to a ruler who was used to focusing on duels and battles and power struggles, and vital in the working life of a career bureaucrat. “Why are you bothering me with this?” Luo Binghe asked, his voice soft.

It's unconscionable that I have not yet written any time loop or time travel shenanigans in my entire decades-long fandom career

I like to mix it up, I would get bored writing the same character(s) regularly, but I do keep coming back to shen qingqiu of late - I think because the disconnect between his self-perception and his actions is enormously fun

8. How you choose your titles:

mostly: sighing, despairing, looking through the fic to see if there's a short phrase I can use that's thematically relevant, seeing if I can find lyrics I like in a song or poem that's thematically relevant, asking friends for help

9. Describe your writing style:

hmmm a tougher question! I would say - heavy on creating vibes and on interiority, precise and careful about choosing just the right words, and tending over-much towards very long multi-clause sentences. flowy rather than high-tension or rhythmic.

but I might be too close to my writing to describe it accurately! I'd love to hear how others would describe my writing style!

10. A comment you treasure:

one fic I wrote eons ago got a comment from a person who was deeply moved and grateful because they saw themself and a major struggle in their life reflected in my fic in a way they had never seen before. that comment has really stuck with me!

11. Favourite scene you've written:

I am extremely fond of the scene from Habitat, Behaviour where bingqiu transition from peaceful cozy homelike vibes of sqq writing an angry letter to a publisher while lbh brings him more paper and snacks, to a scene that's extremely sexual with sqq in lbh's lap while lbh hand-feeds him and escalates from there, and sqq has no idea how or why this counts as sex because lbh's pillar isn't involved at all. meanwhile lbh is sobbing into sqq's neck over how amazing it is. (sqq loves it too.)

I am really proud of the physicality I managed in this scene, the groundedness in sensation and tangible presence of things, as well as the conveyance of what sqq is actually feeling vs what you hear of his thoughts from his close pov!

12. Fic that best represents you:

hmmmm, probably Artifice and Affectation. from the pov of a secondary character who's not a man and who doesn't get much fandom attention, gen with ambiguously shippy vibes, About Gender thematically but not explicitly, interested in interrogating structures of power, doesn't actually have a plot.

do I even have any fun facts? if I haven't written it down somewhere I've probably forgotten it!

oh ok! so while I was writing precious treasure I was very aware of what I felt was needed from each side of the foursome to turn them into a viable ship from the state they start the fic at, so these were the things I had to be sure to make happen.

sqh needs: to be able to complain at lbh without being nervous of how he'll respond

lbh needs: to feel like he could be fussed over in a caretaking way by sqh

mbj needs: to find something in lbh that he can respect

sqq needs: nothing, he's soooo gay for everyone in pidw plus the creator of pidw, he's easy to get on board

14. How you handle writer's block:

I put the fic aside for the day and come back the next day. if I keep on not coming back to it, I try to think about whether there's something I feel unsure of in terms of where the fic is trying to go, and I either think it through on my own or talk it through with a friend, to get myself unstuck. if that doesn't feel like it's what's going on, I just accept that there are factors in my life that make writing harder for the time being and I let it go, because trying to force writing when it doesn't want to happen doesn't give me what I want out of this hobby!

15. Hardest thing for you to write:

in the past I would have said dialogue but I think I have really levelled up on that! I suppose now what I find hardest is plot. I'm working on it though!

16. Dialogue you loved writing:

every single line from the aquarium hobbyist discord fic!!! so much fun, and rereading it now, I still think I'm very funny :D

17. Your planning process:

Not a huge amount of pre-planning, usually! once I have the general concept of the fic, I dive into writing, and discover as I go whether more planning is needed. Sometimes I keep an outline of the fic in a separate doc as I write - a retroactive outline, showing what I've done so I can see what structure I'm creating. Sometimes I talk through the concept with a friend to figure out what I'm actually interested in exploring with the concept. Sometimes I get partway in and realize I don't know where I'm going and need to do some brainstorming on that front. But sometimes the concept is all the planning I need and I just….write.

I do usually end up having a notes document for any fic that's longer than 1-2 k words though, with little thoughts to remind myself about what my intentions are for the fic, or noting things I want to keep in mind as I write, and that doc gets added to and altered as I go. But the kinds of notes I keep in there vary fic by fic!

18. Your editing process:

I do a fair amount of editing as I go, both editing the bit I'm writing as I write it, and semi-regularly going back to the already-written parts of the fic to tweak when I have more distance from what I wrote and more sense of where the fic is going. When I'm done a draft I give the whole thing another read, fixing anything that stands out to me, then I send it to beta. 19. Your favourite writing tip:

(caveat: not all advice is right for everyone, ignore if not right for you!)

it's been big for me to have a cheerleader! a friend to send snippets of fic to as I write it, who will say encouraging things!

some reasons:

I get accountability, because they're expecting fic updates, so I don't get as caught up in the executive dysfunction failure to initiate task

I maintain a sense of perspective, that my fic is good and worth continuing to work on

Praise as a form of critique is under-valued! Having someone react excitedly to my writing as I go tells me which things I'm doing well and encourages me to do more of that! It can help me see things in my writing that I wouldn't have seen without that outside perspective! It motivates me to hone skills to do more of that better and on purpose!

I have a friend who is invested in my story to talk things through with when I run into issues!

Thoughts from the first 8 episodes of Love Between Fairy and Devil, as watched on an airplane next to a dude who was reading a Tom Clancy novel and surely judging me for my entertainment choices:

Would I hate her less if her voice were less terrible? Yes.

I am baffled by the lack of Moon Boy/Lieutenant Dragon on AO3. I am going to watch the rest of this show entirely to figure out why fandom does not want him to fuck his dragon.

Number of times I have made the Clone High "he can see and hear everything she tastes and smells" joke: too many

I have missed the point of several scenes because I've been too distracted by what someone's wearing to read the subtitles. Did they give this costume designer an award? Or maybe a medal?

Sometimes the CG is stunningly beautiful. Other times it looks like the pre-rendered graphics of a mid-range PS3 game.

Bring back my chubby succulent boy!

There appears to be a real fucked-up thing going on here with a guy and his semi-dead female mentor, and I am unfortunately way into it.

I find myself wishing Flower Girl were actually being played by a six-year-old, instead of just acting (and sounding) like one. Wouldn't that be fun? Dongfang Qingcang, Exhausted Single Dad? Stomping around while this tiny girl in a floofy dress hangs off his sleeves? Trying to keep himself from developing feelings as he puts a bandaid on her knee? Chasing her away from Prince Bland because dammit, that beige boy's not good enough for his baby girl?

(Actually, it says something really gross about how much romance narratives infantalize women to think of how many would be so much more emotionally compelling if they were reworked to be stories about fathers and daughters.)

There had better be more bodyswap or I'm calling the cops.

Xyz dimension day! Who doesn't love a good city that shines like a literal beacon in the night? Heartland certainly has its charm, and so does its lovable cast. Even in the face of adversity, they continue to inspire hope in every way they can, and that sure is something to celebrate.

Happy Alphaversery! I also got into TF when young(ish) from a book (mine was about a boy who swapped bodies with his muscular gym teacher, and i can definitely see how that shaped my interests in a big way lol) What do you wish you could see more of from the TF community?

Hey! I’m glad to know there are other people who found their way into the tf community completely by accident. That book sounds really interesting, though I tend to do stuff with personality change and body altering instead of bodyswap. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure I’ve ever written a straight up bodyswap. I might need to look into that. 

Anyways, onto your question. I guess there are a few things I want to see in the transformation community. Story wise, I just want to see more TF stories in general, especially jockification. It’s my biggest kink, and I always get excited seeing a new piece of work focused around it. Another thing I’d love to see more of is fanfic! I love seeing familiar characters get jocked up, and should probably write some more myself!

In a less story oriented way there are a couple things I’d like to see in the community itself. I’d like to see a slow shift away from the use of Ai. I’m not trying to be judgemental, but between how common it is for the images used to make databases for AIs to be used without permission, and the environmental concerns, I just don’t think this is something we should make a core part of our work. I do get the appeal, because Ai and Ai images can be lots of fun, and I’ve definitely played around with them before, but I worry that we’ll eventually end up relying on them too much.
