THE NEW EPISODE WAS SO GOOD OMG

THIS IS THE MOST MARSHMALLOW HAS EVER TALKED IN THE SHOW AND SHE COMPLETELY STOLE THE EPISODE. HER SONG WAS SO GOOD AND HER PARENTS WERE SO PROUD OF HER TvT

hi. i guess this is an intro post

i just made this blog because i really like those old confession blogs, but i could never find a burger one. so just send in any burger thoughts you have and i’ll make funny edits of them

however, i want to get one important thing out there:

this blog is open to nsfw confessions, but i will not post any that are about the children characters, or are pro ship or dead dove. this blog is only meant for fun, not for people to gush about gross shit. any of those confessions i do get will be deleted. and also, even if it isn’t related to that kind of thing, i still have the right to not post a confession that makes me personally uncomfortable. so basically the rule here is don’t be a sicko, thanks

I can't stop thinking about Marshmallow saying her parents had never heard her sing. I don't think she meant that they'd never heard her sing in her life, but that they had never heard HER sing. They hadn't heard their daughter sing since she transitioned. And that's why it was so very special.

I think the word got out that Marshmallow's big spotlight episode on Bob's Burgers was beautiful — and one of the reasons is that they really showcased the voice of the new actor playing her, Jari Jones. But there's more going on in this episode that makes it a very special piece of TV.

See, Marshmallow debuted in the first-season episode, "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" — which is not so great. The episode has Bob meeting three characters who seem like trans women but they're voiced by cis male actors, and overall it's not the vibe we'd go on to expect from Bob's Burgers. What's really surprising about the new Marshmallow episode, “Hope ’n’ Mic Night," is that it repeatedly references that not-so-great debut episode. Given that this new one was written by series creator Loren Bouchard, you can kind of read it as the show acknowledging that that the original episode exists but despite those origins they're pushing Marshmallow in a direction that everyone can feel better about.

That song, though — truly beautiful.

The newest Gayest Episode Ever is all about all the ways “Hope ’n’ Mic Night" is a thoughtfully made piece of TV.
