im two days late but fANG YA GOTTA DO FANG
AHHHH THANK YOU SMOLLYA IM ALWAYS UP FOR GUSHING ABOUT FANG
Favourite thing about them: This sounds completely counterintuitive but I love that he’s so annoying!!! There’s a reason I call him “whiny emo brat” and I mean it as affectionately as possible because he just is. He’s so petty and jealous and it’s the most hilarious and endearing thing. The more salty he’s being, the more I want to remove him from Kaizo’s custody and adopt him as my own little brother because he deserves a better sibling than that. Also, emo solidarity.
Least favourite thing about them: His dumb fashion sense oh god at least the Galaxy longcoat cape thing looks fine, but in BBBM2 he put the belt over the coat??? Bro what are you doing????? And don’t even let me get started on the fashion tragedy that is the mushroom helmet
Favourite line: it’s from the Hindi dub but in the OG show when he said “aur mujhe aisa nahi lagta ke tUM MUJHSE BAYTAR HO!!” (”And I don’t think that yOU’RE BETTER THAN ME!!” It’s good in all dubs but especially iconic in Hindi)
brOTP: all of the main squad!! Listen, Fang’s enemies-to-friends arc with them in the OG show was amazing. He goes from hating them (and especially BBB for the unforgiveable crime of being popular) to sort of tolerating them in a frenemy way, to betraying his own bro just to help them and even choosing to stay with them. It is GLORIOUS and actually makes me cry for real.
OTP: as a chronic shipper of goth-prep couples, obviously Boboiboy. All the yin-yang and ship tease is a pleasantly surprising bonus. (Also lowkey Ying, cause it’s cute. And Marinette. Don’t ask. No actually, please do ask, I’m dying to talk about Fanginette.)
nOTP: Hmmm... well I think of the Shieldblings as being more like siblings to him than Kaizo is, so them I guess?
Random headcanon: He listens to earthling emo music like MCR, FOB, P!atD, etc
Unpopular opinion: I don’t want to say he’s overrated, because I adore him to pieces and talk about him a lot, but like... hey fandom there’s other characters in the show too lmao
Song I associate with them: “POPULAR” BY ERIC SAADE (PERFORMED AT EUROVISION IN 2011 REPRESENTING SWEDEN) IT’S LITERALLY JUST FANG’S LIFE AS A SONG AND IT KILLS ME DEAD EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO IT
Favourite picture of them:
I mean, could I really pick anything else?

Speaking to the Stars
Kaizo grunts.
He re-reads the messages, or accurately a reminder from Pang that was set to appear on his screen.
’ This is a short- not a holiday nor a vacation, but just a short escape. For friends and family members- us. ’
He suddenly feels like a large crowd hurling towards him, just by imagining it.
“I hope you do not forget to fulfill your promises, Captain,” Lahap also reminded him.
“You want me to pity the children, Lahap?” Kaizo snapped.
Surprisingly, Lahap chuckled before the Captain shot him a glare.
“Is there anything humourous with what I just said?” He deadpans.
Lahap quickly corrected,
“You deserve the honour, Captain. Once in a while.”
He isn’t wrong, though.
Kaizo had made a promise to let them hold the simplest celebration, since yesterday he was fully booked elsewhere. Luckily it was still somewhere quite near just so he could race off and reach on time for the next big day.
The kids were too smart- If it wasn’t under the Commander’s sponsor, Kaizo wouldn’t hesitate to turn down the honourable expenditure.
It was all honestly to favour their favourable captain. And to thank him for being a reliable ally when they need him.
Lahap understand. Captain is still exhausted after returning from his mission that day. But to his surprise, Kaizo seems more interested on the venue.
“Lahap, we can start now. But before we head back, stop me at coordinate XXXXXXX”
After Lahap drops him off in what appears to be a forest of shrubs, he had to walk to the course- to somewhere near the beach.
“Finally! He’s coming! Set the fireworks!”
Kaizo could hear sounds like a loud whisper coming from the bushes. He frowned.
‘Are they doing one of those stupid surprises again? How wasteful,’ he thought.
Kaizo, still in his combat clothes continued walking.
A few seconds later, he was bombarded with the view of mesmerizing fires lit up to the sky. It exploded into various form of colorful sparks, decorating the jet-black drapes of the night sky.
Kaizo admits, this is pretty amusing.
Fragments of illuminating lights reflected upon his eyes. It felt like it bring back to a second of his childhood.
'Is this fireworks?’ He thought.
He had never seen one in ages. The last one he had seen was the one he saw with his parents. That was when little Pang was sulky enough to drag them all downtown on Lunar New Year’s.
“SURPRISE! A VERY HAPPY, BELATED BIRTHDAY CAPTAIN KAIZO!” They cheered joyfully. They started singing songs, clapping and cheering.
Boboiboy- with his glittering big brown eyes, greeted him enthusiastically.
“Do you like my fireworks, Captain? Oh, you must be hungry! We prepared dinner for you! Come, let’s sit!”
After walking for what almost felt like an hour, and a half day returning from his daily mission, indeed he’s hungry.
“Wait! What about the cake? Fang, bring me the cake,” ordered Yaya.
Kaizo only stares blankly when the cake was brought in front of him. He looked at the kids, to the cake and back to the kids again and asked a single
“What?”
“What?” Boboiboy asked back.
“I said what.”
“What are you waiting for? The birthday person supposed to blow the candles first.” said Gopal.
“Go on! Make a wish!” cheers Ying.
They started singing again, but this time it ends with a loud applause when Kaizo blews the candles.
“What do you wish for?” asked Boboiboy curiosly.
“I don’t know,” Kaizo replies honestly.
“Then why don’t you wish for a better world..as a defender,” Boboiboy suggested with a smile.
Kaizo taps the boy’s nose.
“Silly boy. That’s your wish, not mine,” he shot a brothely smile.
“Huh?” Boboiboy responded shortly, amused to that rare expression that lasts for a few seconds on the Captain’s handsome figure.
“Ok I guess we can all eat now,” suggested Yaya.
She pours a cup of tea, and pours some carrot soup into the bowl for the Captain.
Later, they were served with salads, grilled meat and some bread, much like a barbecue. There were also together roasting fish, squids, clams and lobsters.
Who tells Kaizo that this isn’t too much?

Patchwork
Boboiboy has nightmares, Yaya is a collector. Gopal loves the sea, and Ying can play the piano. Fang is prone to stupid decisions, and Tok Aba deserves the best grandfather of the year award. A collection of drabbles about the little things these characters may or may not hold.
i.
The town calls them heroes.
Sometimes, after they finish a round of rescuing, Yaya wonders how people can put their faith and trust in a twelve-year old.
ii.
Boboiboy broke his leg, once. He had fallen down a flight of stairs and had to wear a cast for two weeks. He never knew bones could take so long to mend and vowed to never let it happen again.
He hasn't broken one since he got his watch.
iii.
Hearts, Fang thinks, are fragile things.
They easy to take and easier to break, often times the reason things get complicated. They make girls (and boys) stare. They make people sympathize, even with those who hurt them. They make you miss home even if you're already there, because having a second doesn't mean missing the first one any less.
He wishes he didn't have one.
iv.
Ying never had a sister, but being friends with Yaya was probably a close thing.
v.
He doesn't remember her face, but he remembers her fingers.
They were long and delicate, softly running through his hair as his mother cradled him in her arms. When Gopal is tired, he thinks he still feels them, gently lulling him to sleep. Come morning, he finds a name for it, and keeps it called his imagination.
vi.
When they ask him about the white patch of hair, he shrugs and tells them what he knows. The next time they see it, they don't stare, and for that, Boboiboy is grateful.
vii.
Lightning flashes, and Ying fights to keep herself from flinching. Seconds later, thunder booms, and Ying tells herself that a storm cannot be afraid of other storms.
People shouldn't have to fear themselves.
viii.
It's half an hour before dinner and he's still not done.
Gopal frowns at his hands, weighing the pros and cons of dealing with them after dinner. They're mostly clean, but he can still see a few ink stains that linger. Battle scars, he jokes to himself, From fighting the mighty Arithmetic.
In the end, he opens the tap and starts again.
ix.
There's always milk in the fridge.
Tok Aba keeps it that way because he knows about the nightmares, even if his grandson won't talk about them. He doesn't like to push, so he helps in the way he can. When he wakes to milk that’s a glass lighter, he wakes to gratitude shining in warm, brown eyes, and he smiles.
He pats Boboiboy's head, asking him if he would like to help with the shop because this is them and they do not need words.
This is them, and it is enough.
x.
On more than one occasion, his friends hear him humming a particular tune. They don't ask, so Fang doesn't tell, quietly recalling the notes of his mother's lullaby.
xi.
Yaya collects feathers.
Most of them are a brown, grayish green, usually picked up from under a tree or a grassy field. There are a few white and black ones, some mixed with colors, but her favorite is a deep red that bleeds into orange. It reminds her of the phoenix.
A bird of fire in a tale of rebirth.
Beautiful and timeless.
xii.
When he's too tired to go home, Fang sleeps in the abandoned house. A terrible idea, recalling all the colds he already got, but there's this spot in the master's bedroom where the roof is torn off, and it has a better view of the moon than his apartment does.
After three months and seven colds, Fang finally drags a proper mattress and a ton of blankets into his training grounds.
xiii.
Contrary to popular belief, Tok Aba's shop is Gopal's third home, not the second. His second is in the sea, where he floats until his front is warm and his back is cold, until his father yells warnings about 'sunburn' and 'getting a cold in the middle of summer, get back here, Gopal!'
xiv.
His favorite color is blue.
Kaizo wonders if it's some sort of punishment that it is, because in his line of work, blue is hardly something you wear on a mission. Unless you can afford to clean, black outfits are the standard among officers.
He looks down at himself and tries not to sigh, completely ignoring Lahap's look. He makes his way to the nearest changing room and peels his clothes off, tossing the now-violet coat in a basket. He grabs a towel and starts to clean himself.
Red never did look good on him.
xv.
She used to play the piano.
Being a genius applied in a lot of things, and her grandmother used to tease her about how she'd become a famous musician one day. Ying runs her hand over the ivory keys, ignoring the dust as she takes a seat and checks the sound.
For the first time in three years, she plays.
xvi.
Yaya opens the door, only to find three people already behind it. Fang's wearing an exasperated look, Ying is drowning in blankets, and Gopal is trying (and failing) to hide his laugh under a mountain of pillows.
She smiles and locks the door behind her, taking the lead to their destination.
xvii.
Summer, Ochobot thinks, must be the best season.
It's the season Boboiboy came, and also the season when he'll come back.
xviii.
There's someone tapping on his window, so Boboiboy groggily gets up from bed, opens it, and turns back to bed as he sighs, "Why can't you guys use the door?"
