I think given the right circumstances Gillian and Gyp could’ve been such a power couple. Not any circumstances which could’ve arisen from canon I hastily add, given Gillian has so many walls and performative masks that I don’t think she even begins to figure out who she really is until s5 when she’s with Roy and finally lets go of the idea of getting Tommy back (not that it lasts very long) so she never would have revealed anything remotely genuine to Gyp, especially since, y’know, he invaded her business and basically took both it and her hostage..

It’s just, Gyp of all the gangsters is probably the worst at keeping his own mask in place, he’s on the verge of tears almost all of the time, whether they be from anger, sadness or inadequacy. He’s incredibly insecure, about his background, his intellect, his grasp on power, his place within it all.

They both know what it is to live inside a persona you hope to God the people around you will respect. They exemplify the extremes of the spectrum for how their genders survive in their world; Gyp, loud, through anger and violence and strong-arming, Gillian, quiet, through appeasement and manipulation and influence.

Gyp, rather antithetically to his persona and relative to the other men in his hoard, is quite respectful of women (feminism win! The man who used a woman as a human shield probably would have used anyone regardless of gender the same way in that situation!) and genuinely seems to want to worship Gillian, which is something she’s never experienced before and, honestly, I think she deserves. He doesn’t even take it personally when she ties to drug him (“I don't blame you, Red.I really don't. But the thing of it is, somebody's always got to lose.”) whereas he’s killed men horrifically for far less.

Perhaps if they’d come into each others lives earlier, found themselves in circumstances that lead to them be honest, sharing their real selves (which is an ongoing theme of the show, what you do or don’t say to the right or wrong people and the consequences of this trust or distrust, see also: the fact that if Gillian and Richard had communicated even a bit they would’ve realised they both wanted the same thing: Gyp’s gang out of the cathouse and Tommy safe) they could’ve accepted each other, the only people to do so, and worked something out.

Not in a normal way though. Definitely not. Probably in a “she was his queen, and god help anyone who dared to disrespect his queen” wearing matching couples sweats w pictures of wolves on kinda way.

Gyp kills Nucky for HER not for Masseria. They kill Leander together and live in chaotic harmony where she can do whatever she wants and he says yes you’re sooo right babe. Do you see my vision.

Sometimes you get possessed and you draw a 25+ panel comic about a Boardwalk-empire style alternate universe take on the wacky races where most of the races are bootleggers, moonshiners, and mobsters, with two lost WW1 ace pilots participating and trying (and failing) to not get on the wrong side of their fellow participants.

Note 1: Lil' Gruesome is a blatant Peter Lorre ripoff because in the show his voice actor does a Peter Lorre impression. Lorre being a film noir actor who liked playing terrible people is being honoured here by being cast as a terrifying Gyp Rosetti stand-in, with some Hungarian flair delivered with the help of @faustiandevil

I'm making a Boardwalk Empire Kaiju AU because it's a super rad concept (yes i'm autistic how did you know)

i'm currently just making concept art of each of the characters before i dive head first into making full refrence sheets. i'm definitely gonna do charlie, meyer and benny next bc i adore them and i know people are gonna wanna see them the most. but for now, here's al and richard to suffice (they're my favorites so i HAD to draw them first) i also added little notes of the side as i drew. if anyone has any ideas, i'd love to hear em!

Chronicling a split off of English history during the weeks after Victoria’s coronation, this series explores the What-Ifs of the English Industrial revolution and the idea of vampires being representative of the ruling class. It also dives into the ideas of class revolution, Nuclear Winter, the usage of productive power to control the narrative, and more. It is also mainly a narrative of just how dangerous controlling the reins of who tells history can truly be.

Written during the hardest years of my life, this series was created to be a distraction from the mires and misery of Neurodivergency in a common-education experience.

Book 1 is set in a world much like our own with certain shifts. Book 2 is a world that starts out similar and quickly becomes quite different. Book 3 is a world that is far in the past and far in the future all at once.

Synopsis:

1865 - the thrones of Queen Victoria and King William are lost to the wastelands. The House of Kingsbridge is no more, and in its place, factions plot and squabble to rule the destroyed land once called England.

But that is easier said then done, for England herself is a place of ruin and starvation. For the nuclear winter that ripped the royal family apart has rolled its citizens back to the Middle Ages. But for those who have survived the hell of 1858, there is a new threat on the horizon that may blot out even 1848 - America has been at war with itself for going on 4 years, and there is whispers abounding that the Royal Family may be amongst the evacuees who fled on the steamship, the Kerberos.

All of these whispers and plans within plans make for a perfect firestorm to be set upon England's starving lower classes, for as someone once said: fealty is not stronger than the blood that is spilled on the battlefield of power.

The New York Times called it “Grandiose - a paragon of modern architecture.” The Post deemed it: “The newly-built mansion is a sign of the shifting tides of New Money upon our cities elite,”. More attention was paid to the ongoing Opera War waged by Bertha Russell and her arch nemesis, Caroline Astor. Astor had the boxes at the Academy of Music and dealt them out like generals awarding medals to soldiers who’d survived a conflict: rarely given and precious to only a few. Bertha Russell had set up the enemy camp with her Metropolitan Opera house (still undergoing building and desperately needing funds), and sought to gain some of the broken backs of the Academy’s patrons. The more soldiers - patrons - Mrs Russell could win over in advance of the Met’s opening, the better. ***** Robber Barons, The Crows, a Princess who is in America to settle an old Score, all for one very mediocre production of Faust.

I love this AU so much!

I based Al's wings off of a red-tailed hawk! Al always “thought of himself as “American” rather than Italian or even Italian-American.” (Al Capone by Deirdre Bair) The screech used for the Bald Eagle in Hollywood is actually the call of a red-tailed hawk!

Ralph's wings are based off a Rüppell's Vulture/ a Griffon Vulture. I don't have a lot of reason why, I just felt he should be a large bird of prey with feathers close to Al's. Griffon Vultures hold the record for the highest flying bird in the world!

Frank is based off a Northern Mockingbird. They are known for being very smart birds. They are also very aggressive and territorial, like Frank was. I feel I could have picked a bird of prey to fit in with his brothers, but I think a Northern Mockingbird suits him because of his description of being the best looking and mild-mannered brother.

I love this AU a lot! I want to make more art for it. Multi says that "Those born in and later than 1900 have wings while some born 1890 to 1900 might have wings", which lets all the Capone siblings have wings! Ralph was born in 1894, Frank in 1895, and Al in 1899!

Since I headcanon Jimmy/Richard James "Two-Gun" Hart to be in Jed's group, I'm not sure if he would have wings! Especially since he was born in 1892. Maybe he did, but when he was made into a Miniature, they weren't added?

🦗Do you write in sequence or jump around?

I used to be Very Strict about only writing in order, but I started letting myself jump around ~two years ago and WHAT A GAME CHANGER, IT HAS SAVED MY WRITING LIFE!!!!!

I get so much more written by jumping around, because when inspiration hits for a scene I can actually take advantage. it makes my writing so much better when I have not just an outline for What's To Come but specific scenes written that I can write towards and mirror very intentionally with word choice, lines of dialogue etc. jumping around when writing multichap fic has made my vision for the whole thing clearer, my choices more deliberate, and—most importantly—it's made it more fun. because I actually get to write the fun parts that inspire me!! instead of torturing myself by dangling the good bits as a carrot of something I might theoretically one day get to write!

(general you, the writer reading this, try it. give yourself permission. if it's not for you, you've still learned something about your process. but if you've never tried and think "oh I could never write that way," I would have said that once too. but tbh if I'd let myself do this earlier, it would have made everything SO much better and I would have gotten so much more done. just experiment so you Know if it's really for you or not)

yes but they're waaaaay less Curated than if I were making a fanmix. my writing playlists are not "here's a highly selective 12-song playlist with lyrics and music that fit and that come together to tell a story musically" as with fanxmies. they are "I need a 13-hour playlist that's Vibes Only that I can put on shuffle and have the right ambiance for whatever I'm working on."

I've got specific ones for all my different Boardwalk AUs, then one for generic grishaverse writing purposes, and I think "sexy" speaks for itself

50s au: honestly not that long, I don't have that much 50s music

Focus au: ~7 hours. the great gatsby (2013) soundtrack is actually perfect vibes. plus a lotta amy winehouse, lana, etc. anything that feels humid and sultry

Grishaverse: ~24 hours. not fic-specific but works for anything in that fandom. I've got the shadow and bone soundtrack, the lotr soundtrack, a lot of florence, anything that has light/darkness imagery, anything that feels Bigger in a high-fantasy, fate-of-the-world way

High School au: ~24 hours. basically all pop music circa like 2008–2012 and some pop punk. whatever makes me feel Teenagery again. also functions as a fun nostalgia playlist

Hunger Games au: ~9 hours. as many soundtracks from the movies as I could get from my local library, plus anything folk-y and sad (the civil wars, etc)

Sexy: ~2 hours, not necessarily songs about sex, just songs that Are Sensual musically or kinda kinky bc let's be real about what I'm writing

also it's not a saved playlist, but I've been writing a lot of Edwardian-set stuff lately, so for that I'll go on spotify and put on early 20th-century English composers like Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughn Williams and let the algo take it from there

this is the base idea! but I decided I want this to be an open project!

basically here's the jist:

Each Muffet has their own shop on the boardwalk

and so on and so forth! I have somewhere near 100 AUs so I won't be doing all the ones that can be done (probably...), but if you want to add to the concept, feel free!

Bresal pushes Chase inside. His eyes are wide, horrified by every word you say. He stares at the electronic locks. When did those get there? When did he get here? Where is he? His body shifts back to the monster you know, but smaller seeming, big eyes on a thin, pale face. He drifts to the couch like a ghost and sits. His cheeks glow from wetness in the low lights. Chase's sleeping body does not shift.

"What am I doing here?" Bresal sits stone still aside from his trembling hands. "Chase shouldn't be afraid. Chase is... I need to take him somewhere better. I need to take him somewhere he'll love, somewhere safe. Somewhere he wants. I need to... We're leaving. We're leaving."

Bresal carries Chase into his own bedroom rather than the cellar, and lays there with him, praying for him to wake up soon. He sets you on his desk, letting you watch the crying and fear rock through him as the night falls. He clings to Chase like a lifeline, holding him as tenderly as he can against his red hoodie.

As he drifts to sleep, 'Jackie' drifts further and further away.

"Keep him safe from me," he pleas from the depths of himself, half asleep. Holding onto Chase, never letting go again.

Sketches/Studies for a Stucky Gangster AU - (2022)

Nothing serious for the moment, it’s just an “plot art bunny”. I posted several drawings on Twitter, asked my followers what they were thinking about, even made them choose between several looks for Steve (n°3 and n°6 seems to be the winners). When I have more time, I’ll draw a full series with Gangsters Steve and Bucky (Tony is a cop, Peter works undercover for Tony but the boys know, and…that’s it for the moment 😁. For the aesthetic, I’m going full 1996 Romeo + Juliet. Also, Bucky will have an arm inspired by Delft porcelain and matching tattoos 💙)
