(Verse):
Turn on social media desperate for replies
Endless doomscroll spiraling until your battery dies
Take this pill for happiness, take this one for your weight
Finally catch up with one trend and find you're far too late
(Chorus):
There it is again, that funny feeling…
That funny feeling.
There it is again, that funny feeling…
That funny feeling.
(Verse):
Waking up one Wednesday, but in 1955
Explaining to your parents why you wish you weren't alive
Your online friend in Canada is closer than your boss
Weighed women vs gas prices and justified the loss
No one's having children cuz they can't afford the cost
Of pre- mourning their babies every time they hear a shot
Regulating bathrooms, people’s bodies, people’s choice
The lobbyists with the money are the ones who have a voice
(Chorus)
Live-action remakes, repetition, seen this all before
Genocide and backdoor deals, another world wide war
Read the word of Jesus, try to do as he commands
Then finding out the Bible’s on the list of books to ban
Working one job 9-5, another 6-10
Have your day off, blow your budget, do it all again
Contemplate existence, make a dark joke just to cope
Worrying the day will come when it won't be a joke
(Chorus)

being a busy ass student with student journalism gigs on one hand and comm academic shit on the other is very interesting because with the jam-packed life I live I only really get to breathe at like late lAAATE night when no one can bother me about my responsibilities other than myself. that being said that's also when creative brain goes into overdrive and now misfits finally has the final draft of its opening number woo
#so heres the thing kasi the opening number of that damn project hAS BEEN THE HARDEST TO WRITE#i believe at this point there had been morethan 10 drafts gjdjd because like heres the thing with that number specifically#misfits is a fourth wall breaky show within a show and the 5 narrators (and 1 misfit which i'll get to in a bit) knowingly perform#to appease the audience. hence the opening number throughout the years has reflected that - a performance that breaks the barrier between#audience and stage. even when misfits wasnt a show withjn a show concept this had always been the general treatment so that the audience#actually GETS whats happening - but i always come to changing it because well i also wanted to add foreshadowing factors: somehing that#suggests that the show isn't actually all that it seems. previous drafts had this show through the typical Tagalog - Real#and English - Scripted element in the show - language being used to determine authenticity. however that begs the question of how to#properly utilize the Misfits in the opening number - given that two of them dont know about the Show while the other is confused#and then at 2 am i remembered Hermes from Hadestown and boop a lightning bulb#instead of opting for opening numbers that had hints of sabotage or theatrical malfunctions that suggests that the show is Not What It Seems#i thought - why not have it 'malfunction' at the start and have it introduce the wrong character first 5 minutes before the Narrators come#so basically after the Producers (represented through um P.A. voices smth like that) welcome everyone - what is supposed to be the#introduction of the Narrators first ends up as the introduction of the 3rd Misfit (Zeke - 18 - nb) who appears genuinely lost#they appear genuinely in distress though they keep themselves composed at the realization that they are facing an Audience#and they Know this because he was formerly a Narrator as well - though at this point in the story nobody (bar one) knows that#they decide to take their time in chatting with the audience while charming them using their old Narrator tactics in order to get a grip on#whats going on - being a first step towards how involved the audience will be in the story as Zeke then goes to question them outwardly on#the morals of the story they expect and whether it is ethical to have children forcibly conform to religion in the first place#but they do so in an entertaining Bo Burnham manner - a way that doesnt catch people off guard until They Want To - because ayun he#plays by the rules of the show#this doesnt seem like the 'opening number' yet does it but im getting there fjd because once they sense that the narrators will be on stage#as a memento they teach them to sing a melody that will serve as Zeke's motif - something that will eventually scare the lead Narrator and#the Producers - because whenever the motif is sung it means that someone has Broken a Significant Part of the show#especially since the Motif was um lets say its from a now defunct show the Producers and Zeke and the Lead Narrator used to have#that melody will then be subtly present throughout the entire opening number of the Narrators - which will then be played straight#but with the Misfits make their pre-official-introduction appearances by forming the bridge of the opener using the Motif#thats when we learn of the show being compromised from the very start - especially with the lyrics of the motif expressing doubt in faith#personal shit (ran out of tags whoops but um yea basically its Have The Audience Have A Hint to Whats Going On Through Recognizable Motifs)#(also the motif the audience learns is a melody - Zeke (and the lead narrator) changes the lyrics as they go) (also sorry for the ramble)

Art is dead - Bo Burnham is relatable.
Because I've been taught that my theater group depends on donations to finance the shows.
Because I've been taught that art is painting with colors. Anything else is anything but art.
Because art can't get you a stable life, you have to get a "real" job.
Because everyone likes the artistic pieces unless they find out they're made by a part of a group they hate (like disabled, poc, queer, etc.)
Because most successful artists have committed crimes nowadays.
Because my aunt complains that we don't do more modern pieces and doesn't appreciate our new interpretations of art that has existed for a long time.
Because art class is just about painting and not how we can utilize words, melodies, our voice to create all kinds of art.
Because artists get destroyed by (modern) education.
Because how can it be that I have been told countless times that "PaInTiNg WoNt GeT mE aNyWhErE" or "YoU cAnT mAkE a LiViNg OfF oF yOuR(my) wRiTiNg" and no one DARES to question why??
Because how can it be that people can't (won't) look at the layers old poems or paintings have and just view the top layer, which is how it looks???
BECAUSE I'VE BEEN CALLED A NERD FOR LOOKING BEHIND THE OBVIOUS JUST BECAUSE THE AVERAGE TEENAGER CAN'T.
BECAUSE I'VE BEEN CALLED CRINGE FOR WRITING AND THAT I SHOULD KEEP IT SECRET
BECAUSE THE WHOLE CLASS GROANS WHEN I WANNA PRESENT WHAT I'VE WRITTEN
BECAUSE MY WRITING HAS BEEN CALLED EMBARRASSING,
YET OTHERS ARE ENVIOUS OF MY PAINTINGS
EVEN THOUGH I JUST PAINT WHAT WORDS I HAVE IN MY HEAD
BECAUSE MY OWN FATHER MOCKED ME FOR MY FIRST ATTEMPTS AT WRITING
BECAUSE I'VE BEEN CALLED "CRINGE" "EMBARRASSING" AND A "NERD" JUST BECAUSE I AM NOT AS MENTALLY PUT BEHIND AS THE AVERAGE STUDENT
YES I CAN'T DO MATH AS GOOD AS YOU, BUT I HAVE EXCELLED AT THE JOKE POETRY ASSIGNMENT MY GERMAN TEACHER GAVE ME, WHEN YOU HAVE FAILED AND I WATCHED GLEEFULLY
I CAN EXPRESS MYSELF THROUGH MY KIND OF ART BETTER THAN YOU CAN ATTEMPT BECAUSE YES I MAY HAVE FOUR As BUT I STILL HAVE A MIND THAT CAN CREATE AND NOT JUST FOLLOW RULES.
My writing is art.
I want it to be recognized as art.
Art is not cringe.
Art is not embarrassing.
Art is not something to groan at.
Art is not something only for nerds.
Art is wonderful.
Art is to be appreciated and interpreted again.
And I fear for the future if this is the start of how art will be treated.
#writing#art#noah rambles#help#This had to get our#phew#good lord#this is long#but necessary#listen to me#or dont#But then Don't be surprised when artists will go extinct.

something about bo burnham songs…they groove directly into my psyche and make a little home there.
maybe its the combination of melody and flawless rhyme on a sentence i could spend years unpacking and not be able to fully articulate or understand the emotion it makes me feel? but once i think of one of his songs i have to listen to it immediately and usually play it over and over again and maybe scribble some of the lyrics down in a notebook like a madwoman.
it’s like cocomelon to me
#when i say that i mean the. againagainagainagain feeling#however cocomelon is mind numbing and his songs are like…mind overdrive. time to thinkthinkthink#bo burnham#art is dead especially. but this was inspired by look whos inside again#i cannot IMAGINE. hearing ‘well well look who’s inside again; went out to look for a reason to hide again. well well buddy you found it’#and not just. feeling soooo un-normal about it#look whos inside again. went out to look for a reason to hide again. OKAY#are you feeling nervous? are you having fun? its almost over; it’s just begun#inside#mine

What is Pixel genre?
Pixel music is a genre of electronic music that is heavily influenced by the 8-bit and 16-bit video game music of the 1980s and 1990s. It is characterized by its use of simple, repetitive melodies and chiptune-style synthesizers.
I love the range you have, Bo Burnham to MARINA? I want to study you under a microscope

sending the same questions back to you! 7, 16, 19 please :)
yayyy thank you!!
7. is there/what is a song that always makes you think of your parents?
my dad was a huge tom petty fan, and for the last couple years of his life he became obsessed with learning how to play this on the guitar. he never did quite get it down, but he would frequently just be playing the OH MY MY, OH HELL YES, HONEY PUT ON YOUR PARTY DRESS bit and it always makes me think of him now when i hear it. (also it's a total banger.)
16. is there/what is a song that has been ruined for you by an ex or a former crush/situationship/relationship?
this one just seems like an occupational hazard of dating someone during lockdown. me and my partner at the time both got super obsessed with the inside special and now i absolutely cannot listen to any of the music from it anymore. i'm not too mad about that, i'm gonna be honest with you lol
19. what do you think is the greatest love song of all time?
NEVER FOR MONEY!
ALWAYS FOR LOVE!!!!!!!
music asks <3

Songs on my favorite songs from my Falling from Olympus playlist, with lyrics, that just remind me of trials of Apollo:
•”I’ll blow up into smithereens and spew my tiny symphony all up and down the city street while tryna put my mind at ease. Like finishing this melody, this feels like a necessity, so this could be the death of me or maybe just a better me.” - Worlds Smallest Violin, AJR
•”You don’t have to be like everybody else, you don’t have to fit into the norm, you are not here to conform. I am here to look inside myself, recognize that I could be the eye, the eye of the storm. I am not my body, not my mind or my brain, not my thoughts or feelings, I am not my DNA.” - Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, MARINA
•”They give so much to me, I’m losing touch, get me? Served on a silver platter, ask for seconds they just let me. They tell me I’m a god, I’m lost in the facade, six feet off the ground at all times, I think I’m feeling odd.” - My Ordinary Life, The Living Tombstone
•”Well, well, look who’s inside again. Went out to look for a reason to hide again. Well, well, buddy you’ve found it, now come out with your hands up we’ve got you surrounded.” - Look who’s inside again, Bo Burnham
•”You’re a loser, baby, a loser goddamn baby. You’re a fucked-up little whiny bitch, you’re a loser just like me. You’re a screw-is-loose loser and only one-star reviewer.” -Loser, baby, Hazbin Hotel

Top Nine No Skip Albums (as tagged by @heronfem), organized in favorite album order! I just straight up don't listen to music by album (and am also truly ridiculously picky about stuff) so this was. a lot harder than I was expecting! (this isn't so much "top nine no-skip albums" as "literally the only nine albums I can think of that I don't skip any songs on" lmao)
Tagging anyone else who'd like to do this, just tag me back so I can see!
How to Train Your Dragon OST by John Powell HTTYD my best beloved. I watched this movie when I was seven years old, got Test Drive stuck in my head and Forbidden Friendship stuck in my heart and haven't gotten either of them out since. I know it's not teeeeeeechnically an album, but I love it anyways and it holds an incredibly special place in my heart. Favorite song: Forbidden Friendship
Save Rock and Roll by Fall Out Boy The yearning... the yearning. Something about the nostalgia and the ache and the... the everything about this album sank into me. Alone Together is the song that got me to actually start listening to Fall Out Boy's entire discography, and we all know how that went. Favorite Song: Alone Together
Love Run by The Amazing Devil I just. I love this album so much, with all its motifs and melodies and intertwining songs. It's chaotic and beautiful and I will never get over how every single song but the last is about love going wrong in some way and yet the chorus of the very last song is love's worth running to. Favorite Song: Love Run (Reprise)
Vices & Virtues by Panic! at the Disco A collection of Absolute Bops and also The Yearning (Panic! version) and it's just. It's fun! The music clicks exactly with my brain in both a melodic and emotional sense, and that is extremely rare for an entire album to pull off. Favorite Song: This one's from the bonus songs that I think you can only find nowadays on Youtube, but it's Stall Me!
Masterharper of Pern by Tania Opland So this is a published CD of filk music based off the songs and poetry from the Dragonriders of Pern books, and. look. I like medieval-inspired folk. That's what this is. It's also about a book series that was extremely formative for my love of dragons, so just like. It's good. I like it. Favorite Song: Star Stone
Inside by Bo Burnham Every single song on this album is simultaneously an Absolute Banger and an Absolute Mood (which is everything Bo Burnham writes, really, but this one especially). That Funny Feeling is the best example of what it's like to be alive when it feels like the world is collapsing down around you that I've ever found. Favorite Song: That Funny Feeling
Ola Gjeilo by Ola Gjeilo Ola Gjeilo is probably my all-time favorite choral composer -- he does such fun things with harmony without being boring like some people (*cough* Whitacre *cough*) can be. Favorite Song: The Lake Isle
PTX, Vol. III by Pentatonix I went through a massive PTX phase in middle school (I was a preteen choir kid, what were you expecting), and this is one of the albums that stuck around. Favorite Song: Rather Be
Artificial Intelligence by Tom Cardy Every single song this man has ever produced is absolutely fucking flawless and I have nothing else to say. Favorite Song: Read Between the Lines

365 Albums in 365 Days: 160/365
Date: Sunday June 9th Album: Inside Artist: Bo Burnham Released: 2021 Genre: Musical Review: It’s a little weird watching someone have a mental breakdown in real time but you know what? I’ll take it. It’s good art. Much like Shop A Pop Opera, this is technically a film and not an album, but in terms of musicality, Bo has a really good sense for incredibly catchy lyrics and theater. I often find myself throwing one of the songs on despite the content of the lyrics because the melodies are just catchy enough. Go white boy go Favorite Track: Look Who's Inside Again

Life Series Playlist (Outdated)
An update (below cut)
Third Life:
To My Enemies by Saint Motel- This one is the vibes for the start of the season. Upbeat, not a whole lot of angst yet.
I Can't Decide by Scissor Sisters- Bdubs betrayal of Impulse
Dead Girls by Penelope Scott- Scott after Jimmy's death. "I don't see her but I see her and I know it isn't real but I fake it anyway"
American Healthcare (Glitzy) by Penelope Scott- Martyn, specifically his alliance with Ren
Choke by IDKHOW- More vibes, but later in the season, the red army is coming.
Bad Bad Things by AJJ- The Red King, "If I don't go to hell when I die I might go to heaven, might go to heaven but probably not"
Never Love an Anchor by The Crane Wives- I might remove this, it used to be Grian's song for being the winner of the season, but I changed it.
Lukewarm by Penelope Scott- End of season Grian and his win. "Throw a punch, watch it sail through the air; keep talking but there's nobody there" among other lyrics.
Last Life:
Hayloft II by Mother Mother- Setting the stage for this season, it's unhinged in an angsty way is how I describe it.
Tongues and Teeth by The Crane Wives- Cleo burning the forest. Yes this one is specific, but it does double as the vibes of the Fairy Fort alliance.
Who Are You Really? by Mikky Ekko- The southlands alliance. Just them.
Born2Run by Penelope Scott- This is later in the season when things are picking up and there's more drama.
Bad Girls by M.I.A.- Gaslight, gatekeep, and girlboss because they deserve it <3
Curses by The Crane Wives- Scar? I want it to be Scar. "There's still cobwebs in the corners, and the backyard's full of bones" he is lonely and it makes me sad
Feel Better by Penelope Scott- Bdubs. Bdubs and Etho omg. "But someone loved me, someone fucking loved me"
Goodbye by Bo Burnham- Scott as his winner's song. I feel like Scott finished the series realizing he was now alone even though he won.
Double Life:
Smokey Eyes by Lincoln- Once again we begin with the overall feel of the season.
Canary in a Coal Mine- haha rancher duo, I love them, I'm not over the canary curse STILL being real after 4 seasons, wtf man
You and Me by Lifehouse- A nice song for the healthy relationship that is clock duo. Also it mentions clocks. (I specifically have the extended wedding song version lol)
Too Close by Sir Chloe- This one is desert duo and Ren and bigb, but I really think it's from Scar's POV "you get too close, take the one I love the most"
Burning Pile by Mother Mother- Boat boys. The ship burns everything burns. Yep.
No Children by The Mountain Goats- Listen to this in the context of double life and tell me it's not Scott and Pearl. "I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow, I hope it bleeds all day long"
Limited Life (very unfinished):
Never Be Alone by Shadrow- I know, I know, but hear me out. This season feels very watcher-y and also brings back the boogeyman and just feels like everyone has to be on edge at all times.
Fighting With The Melody by Jimmy Urine- honestly idk I just brought this one over from my C!Grian playlist because it fit. "Welcome to your fate, end of the line" and "You are so dead, dancing with the enemy"
Hell's Comin' With Me by Poor Man's Poison- I have this down for TIES, but mostly Impulse since he made it to the end, idk
Problems by Mother Mother- The bad boys yeeeaaaaahhhhhh. "I am a sinner, you are a saint" among other lines.
I'm Gonna Win by Rob Cantor- This is Martyn's winner song, he legit went insane at the end there what can I say. "I'll never lose, I'll never die"
Here's a link also I will take suggestions, this is legitimately just my music taste
#life series#third life#last life#double life#limited life#ive had this in my drafts for months#life series playlist#mo speaks

☕️ im here for YOUR unpopular music opinions bab xx right my wrongs xx
im genuinely a bit terrified because many of my music tastes and opinions are deemed lame and basic but lame girl is my alias and profession so i will commit to it.
before we start let me assessment the level of my lameness - i have a twenty one pilots and a taylor swift tattoo. see? this is what we are working with
whatever
- lyrics are much more important to me than music i do love beautiful melodies and production of course but if the lyrics slap i will probably not give a fuck about anything else
- the best way to listen to music is by going through albums from start to finish. shuffle is evil and my sworn enemy
- phoebe bridgers is in fact one of our greatest songwriters right now. yes, along with mitski. im sorry ridi. they explore different themes and i feel like our connection to said themes is what makes us love one or the other more. and well. it's phoebe for me. i feel like punisher changed the course of my existence that winter night in my small god awful apartment where I listened to it while for the first time while cutting my hair with paper scissors.
- same with taylor. there's much to say about her as a political figure (of sorts), as a businesswoman, as an artist too, and not all of it will be pretty. but she's a strong, strong writer who is constantly overlooked by many outside of her (very annoying and over the top, yes) fanbase (that i have beef with but. that's another story).
one of the most consistent criticisms of her as a songwriter though is that there's too much of her, so much she feels inescapable. and that is a classic case of being woman'd (term courtesy of rayne fisher-quann - we as a society and as consumers are compelled to want to take any woman that gets too successful down a notch. she has always been annoying. there's too much of her. overrated. and so on. rayne's essay was rather eye opening and i can't recommend it enough). but that is a co-product of misogyny, people of marginalized groups (fairly) recognising her privileges and being (fairly) upset by the lack of opportunities for equally talented artists, her enormous fanbase and the pit of despair that is modern stan culture.
- on the topic of stan culture. oh brothers what makes people so mean? for the life of me i can not figure out what good it does you to write "flop" under popcrave tweets. do people feel righteous? cathartic? edgy? is this for the sake of ruling up some and getting throwaway validation from the others? can not wrap my head around this.
- in the same vein. we have GOT to stop demanding content from any kind of artists, musicians included. i think everyone here agrees but i needed to say that because i can not bear seeing this attitude on twitter anymore
- oh those were some thinkpieces babes. well i wasn't an academic for 6 years for nothing
- flash round! melodrama best album ever made; jack antonoff the lows are low but the highs are really fucking high have you heard choreomania and hard feelings/loveless; bo burnham amazing lyricist im not even fucking sorry about this one though i got bullied on tiktok for it; we deserve an emo renaissance. i think that's it for today that was really something
#heyyyyy#hope you still like me hope my lame vibe and defensive libra demeanor compels you#sorry grils unfortunately im a lover and not a hater until absolutely cornered#ridi dearest
