BNHA Girl's Redesigns

(pt.1)

Renamed more in the second batch than the first batch (apparently I only liked the original Uravity & Froppy, does Alien Queen count tho?)

Design commentary below the cut

Mina Ashido (Alien Queen)

I don't know how to explain the differences I chose bc it's a pretty similar aesthetic to her canon design. Though, definitely wanted her hair to be white & her horns the same pink as her skin. I wanted to push her suit in the more space/alien direction bc I have a small grudge against midnight for vetoing the name. I made her suit pattern and eyes compliment each other a bit more w blue & green. I kept the fur cuz it's cute and a bit gaudi which is in her taste & lastly I made her acid more colorful so it's not....yk semen white.

Tooru Hagakure (Oversight)

For Hagakure, I wanted to lean into the stealth thing a bit with a ninja motif; and if Mirio can have a suit with the properties of his quirk from studying his hair, so can she. I also wanted every bit of her design to be so pale she's nearly translucent when visible (she would be able to voluntarily change her visibility, but still prefers to be invisible.) Her hair is also short and a bit of a mess since she is unburdened by her appearance +with an iridescent sheen. I made her eyes a pale purple because extremely albino people with very little melanin in their eyes have purple iris's due to blue pigment mixing with red vines. Lots of small nitpicky details with her lol

Kyouka Jirou (Pulse)

With Jirou, I wanted her bangs to cover her face and (it didn't come across well in the final) her sideburn pieces to be longer than the rest of her bob which is already longer than canon with an undercut. She also needed more of a proper hero costume imo, so she's got that leather/spandex bodysuit with a volume emblem; the stripes on her sleeves would also vaguely resemble the bare of a volume key. I actually went through a few renditions to figure her out but I'm really glad for that; I didn't illustrate it here, but I think it would be cool if she had some iron hammers to plug into that she would slam into the ground or into her enemies & amplify the sound. Small difference, I moved the speakers from her boots up to her knees for closer access.

Lore Notes (I will expand on this later, but I just want to braindump):

Your canonical age is seriously unknown

You have been around since the dawn of time so you are ancient

In a vicious cycle of reincarnation, you are technically immortal

As for what species you are, you don’t know

You can’t be killed unless you are shot in your “achilles’ heel” which is a weak spot located at the bottom of your brainstem, the medulla which is arguably the most important component of the brain

Once this happens, you can’t regenerate and you die; game over, try again

You get reborn again in the same body

Some memories are intact, others not so much

These forgotten moments can be reawakened by certain things that cause deja vu

Every time you die, you wake up

Same body, same face

You are aware when you die, and aware when you wake up, and aware if the current situation you are somehow in

You have been beat down by so many of the people around you throughout the ages that you very much don’t like humans

There are no medical records and traces of you

When people look at you it’s the kind of feeling in which they feel like they have seen you which draws them into you

You smell like honeysuckle and act just as sweet as them

Abilities:

You have angelic like wings

They can help you fly around in the air

Similar to Hawks from My Hero Academia, you can control each individual feather

You wings can change colors under certain circumstances

Regeneration

It is exactly what it sounds like

You can regenerate body parts instantly if they get damaged

If you have you hand severed, for example, you can stick your hand back on and it will heal

Regeneration will not heal you once your achilles’ heel has been shot

Molecular Manipulation

You can manipulate certain molecules within certain materials

Basically controlling the elements like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra

So far you only know how to control the main four, and subsets like blood bending or metal bending have not been touched on but they will later

As for cursed technique

Idk!

Please give me ideas!

I was thinking maybe the feathers in your wings contain cursed energy or smth like that

I won’t say appearances or specify (H/C) or (E/C) and things of that nature, because I think that defeats the whole purpose of the x reader tag I used

But if you like some of the ideas described, pick and choose and give me feedback if you do want me to implement these characteristics!

Not sure if it is good but it has a lot of words, so if you are waiting on this series next chapter, I would recommend you take a look at it if you like my writing

I’m still continuing that fanfic, but the character I made was just too good to go to waste so I recycled

I imagine her to have varying hair lengths, but long of some sort

As for hair color, I imagine a light, sakura, pastel pink or a jet black.

Or maybe the hair is jet black but the underside is bleached/dyed a color of your choosing; let me know if you like that option!

Curtain bangs, slightly wavy-straight hair

As for skin tone, I’m thinking like a slight tan? As if you have been sunbathing and have a healthy glow idk

As for eye color I was thinking of a dark sea foam green (that matches with pink hair) or a burgundy color (that matches with the jet black hair)

If you couldn’t tell, this character was heavily inspired by Zero Two from Darling and the Franxx with both appearances and personality (shoutout!)

As for voice, I’m imagining the same voice as the character above and Panty from Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (both dub)

I love their voices!!

I feel like this character would have piercings, maybe a couple on the earlobes!!

You materialize before him in a heartbeat, fingers wrapped around his neck in a vice-like grip. There's no triumphant glee in your eyes, only one of bored arrogance.

Seething with humiliation, Shigaraki lungs for your wrist in attempt to regain control of the situation. His brittle fingers close around your skin, eyes squinting with a eerily grin as he waits for that satisfying crumble, that disintegration, that ultimate proof of his power.

But then he freezes. ❛No...no...nononononononono❜

Shigaraki's pupils tremble the longer he stares at your rapidly healing skin. It breaks and flake, like ashes scattering to the wind. And in their place, new skin forms, unmarred and whole as if nothing had happened.

His thoughts whirl, a tornado of denial and disbelief, until the horrifying truth crashes into him: he is powerless against you.

And in that instant, his eyes betray him. A flicker of genuine, unfiltered fear seep deep in those once malicious filled eyes—fear of you.

1) Plagiarism is a HELLA big no no. Takes a lot of time and energy to even to write out a whole completed chapter other than half-assed drafts. If I find out you stealing without credit: I'm blocking and reporting until your account is taken down.

2) This story will contain profanity, violence, dark humor, and other mature themes

3) I will either skip over certain parts of the anime/manga or diverge the plot because I don't wanna follow every episode (too many bnha fanfics out here, gets redundant reading the same order of events)

4) Canon characters may/will be slight ooc, but will maintain their overall personality

5) Mc (you) will hold reference to inner Moka Akashiya when she transforms. Any and all toxic traits said and done are intentional

6) Mc height will not be explicitly stated, however just know it won't be too short, so please refrain from those "I'm 4'9 🥺 so short" whenever height is brought up. Its annoying, we don't need to know how tall you are fam. Just enjoy the book

7) Other than the white hair and red eye color whenever Mc temporarily transforms into Moka: eye color, skin tone, and other descriptions are up to reader

8) Even if Mc simps after Aizawa, there will be no relationship. I don't care that the "age of consent in Japan is 13", its trifling and weird. Stop making excuses for why young kids can bang grown ass tax-paying fully brain developed ADULTS

9) I may end up making the book an "in-between arc" type of story if I either get too lazy or don't know how to end it

pretty exclusively animanga fandoms these days. hunter x hunter has been my home base for a while, but i dabble in other series too!!!

personally i don’t enjoy discussing stats (outside of word count) because i think it encourages comparison, even if unintentionally, and i used to struggle a lot with that. sort by kudos exists for the curious, of course, but i don’t want to go out of my way to emphasize stats

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

oh gosh, i used to be RELIGIOUS about replying to every single comment i received, but that's since become a bit unmanageable with my current work & life schedule. i'd like to get back to replying at least a little bit, though!!

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i'm a happy ending girl through & through so i think the closest i have to an angsty ending is this tiny lil 1k leopika oneshot i wrote for the greed island server!!!

what i'm getting from these questions so far is that i do not remember my own fics very well anymore & might want to go revisit them someday bc i am struggling to answer this one!!

that being said, i am a bit fond of this one from facts about stones, which was my big bang fic this year!!

8. Do you get hate on fics?

i was about to say that i've been fortunate enough never to get a hate comment BUT THEN i remembered how someone once wrote me a five paragraph essay (i'm not kidding) about how a character's behavior in a fic didn't make sense & was poorly written. god that was incredible

but on the whole, no, i'm quite quite lucky that i don't receive much negativity

i'm a very boring person & thus don't vibe particularly much with crossovers. the most i've done is like........ very vaguely fairy tale inspired aus & the like. i wish i were a more adventurous writer bc some of the stuff people come up with in crossovers is ridiculously creative

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not a whole fic, but back in my bnha days, i had someone lift a scene literally beat for beat from a tddk fic of mine. i was a lot younger & less experienced in the fandom space back then, so i'm very glad, although perhaps a bit surprised, that i just closed the tab & moved on. life's too short to stress over that sort of thing

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes, one into russian & one into spanish on wattpad!!!!!! they both felt like such huge honors!!!!!!

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

i could pretend to give this some thought & come to a difficult decision, but it's killugon. it's far & away killugon. let's not kid ourselves here

14. What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

i think the idea has a ton of potential, but my execution of the first two chapters strikes me as rushed & impatient & a bit sloppy as a result. i think my only option is rewriting it from scratch so i can have a product i'm satisfied with

i pay a ton of attention to the flow of my prose & really endeavor for the sentences to have a lyrical quality. outside of syntax, i think i'm quite good at describing physical & emotional experiences extremely vividly

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

well well well, if it isn't my old nemesis, actually having a plot....... we meet again

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i don't have enough fluency in my non-native languages to pull this off & i find it challenging as a reader, but i think just about any choice or device can work if it's serving a narrative purpose & doing so effectively

💘Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?

URGH YEAH. The disastrous coming out of saiki k vexes me. It's good enough that I can't just pass it off as a relic of a former era of myself as a writer, but with glaring mistakes that still get at me and are mostly a product of the whole fic being written in a manic sprint in the free time I had after my first real job. For instance, the mob psycho 100 crossover chapter shouldn't be there, and Aren + Kaidou's relationship with Saiki pinballs all over the place in a way that's narratively confusing. But I'd also feel bad editing the fic as it's posted on ao3 because a lot of people like it as it is and it's pretty popular by Saiki K fandom standards, so I'd have to post the revision as a whole new fic, and it just...wouldn't be different enough for me to justify that.

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

This was a hard one because my writing process is to just blitz a few thousand words at a time and then Not Fucking Reread It. and then i Post. I guess No Regrets, that one was written for a BNHA big bang so it was far more structured than all my fic up to that point. That shit had a whole separate planning doc and a color coded spreadsheet to keep track of its progress. Which is like nothing compared to the kind of planning a lot of fic writers do, but it's a lot for me. (I really like that fic to this day, give it a try if you're open to bakudeku.) Also a surprising amount of thought went into the chapter songs I chose for Metempsychosis.

🦋what are you most insecure about when you post a fic?

nothing. my writing is scintillating and my meat is huge. that being said, i do tend to get a bit embarrassed about appealing too much to my own id even though i'm literally creating in the Appealing To One's Own Id medium lol

EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

One for All October will be an event in October dedicated to producing Yoichi-centric fics and art, hosted by McFaneLy and Katydid. This event will run between October 1st all the way through till Halloween!

Rules:

We will have an art and writing category. Anything focused on Yoichi qualifies. If an artwork, then he must be prominently featured. If a fic, then Yoichi must be one of the main characters.

You may submit as many entries as you’d like. However, you will only be eligible to win once in each category.

The minimum word count for a fic is 1,000 words. Drawings must be colored.

Fics should not have any explicit sexual content. For artwork, no extreme blood or gore and no nudity/pornography/NSFW. Mild gore is allowed.

To qualify, an entry must be posted by October 31, 2022, 11:59 AM EST.

Prizes:

First place in both art and writing will receive prizes from both of us: a half-body color artwork from McFaneLy and a fic of a minimum of 2,500 words from Katydid. We both will also be offering honorable mention prizes of sketches and snippets. One honorable mention will be given out randomly to ensure that everyone has a chance to win.

No other reason for this pairing other than yall would be cute and mesh well.

You and Ashido met as soon as you stepped in the door of the UA classroom on day one. It's no secret that Ashido is a social butterfly, she makes friends with whatever person she meets even bullies. The minute you walked in she was already introducing herself and asking you questions. She saw when you came in how you were shy and awkward, so she wanted to make you feel more comfortable.

After that you had basically been adopted into her newly made friend group. She knows you prefer to be on you own though so she lets you have your space when necessary, but sometimes she will bring you out with a few of the others (not too many as not to overwhelm you). She also speaks up for you so you can say what you need to say and feel heard, plus usually you be spitting facts anyway.

You two hang out one on one as well because you have similar interests. As pink, energetic, and peppy as she is she loves horror movies, video games, and Melanie Martinez (personal headcanon). When everyone moved into the dorms, and everyone comes out for movie nights they dread when it's you guy's turn to pick the movie because they'll be screaming their heads off as you two just gush about the film.

Ashido also likes to take you out clothes shopping. Whether with the others or just the two of you (preferably just the two of you) she likes to take you to find clothes that you like that best suit your figure, make you feel confident, and make your inner beauty shine (all my knowledge of fashion is from barbie movies I'm sorry).

You and Ashido actually started dating pretty early on (aka Mina doesn't get enough screen time during big battles for me to fit this in) during your time at the training camp when the villains attacked, she was so worried about what happened to you. She fought villains as fast as she could so she could find you and make sure you were ok. Once it was all over, she ran up to you and hugged you so tight you thought she'd be the one to kill you instead of the villains. When she pulled away you saw her crying her eyes out and she told you how worried she was of losing you. After everyone was taken back home, she confessed how she loved you and how she always wanted to be by your side to protect you.

After things calmed down you two officially started going out. Nothing much changed after that except you two became way more affectionate. Ashido had a lot of cute nicknames for you, teasing you and seeing you get flustered, and loved showing off and making you laugh. You love to run your fingers through her fluffy hair and rub her horns to make her blush for once and compliment her on her fighting technique. There are a lot of stories of people loving their lover "despite their shape", but Ashido loves your body so much the way it is. So cuddly and soft like a human body pillow.

Dates between you two go from having horror movie nights with the class to having horror movie nights cuddled up in one of your dorms together, and if you're at one of each other's homes then expect cooking dates filled with food fights, laughter, and ordering pizza in the end.

You and Ashido are the introvert and extrovert couple. You two practically speak a different language and always know what the other needs. You have plenty of passions to share and love to give. You'll also do whatever it takes to reach your dreams together and protect one another no matter what despite being confident the other can more than protect themselves.

I got the idea to just make a bio post for Kazuko after seeing similar ones by @epickiya722 ! This bio is formatted similarly to hers.

Kanji Name: 清水和子

Hero Name: Rejuvenation Hero Pegasus

Age: 18 (currently in Springs of Pegasus), 22 (current BNHA canon)

Occupation: Sidekick of Ms. Joke (currently in Springs of Pegasus), Pro Hero (current BNHA canon)

Gender and Pronouns: Female, she/her

Birthday: October 15th

Physical Description: Kazuko is a woman of short stature, standing at 5'3" (just over 160 cm). She has black hair, with a few strands of mauve, especially around her bangs. Her eyes are the same color as those mauve strands. Her skin is a dark shade of tan. She's a bit of an intense person, so she kinda has RBF lol. She's often glaring to some capacity. When she's not wearing her Hero costume, she often dresses comfortably, usually in big t-shirts (abt half of which were Keigo's lol) and shorts.

Family/Relationships: There isn't much on her parents yet in the story, but her father Mihiro Shimizu is a marine biologist (and the one Kazuko inherited the healing aspect of her Quirk from, as well as the mauve hair and eye colors). Her mother Carmelita Shimizu is from the Philippines, and works as a lifeguard. Kazuko is their oldest child, and has five younger siblings. Kazuko has a close relationship with her mentor Ms. Joke, despite their differing personalities. She also looks up to Eraserhead, whom she worked with for a time (and used to have a massive crush on). Now, Kazuko has a romantic interest in Hawks. Later, they start dating. Kazuko's closest friends are Miruko and Swordspirit (whom I'll make a page for soon!)

Personality: Kazuko is very duty-driven, focusing a lot of her energy on her Hero work. This makes her come off as very intense, serious, and "stiff", according to Keigo. She also has a fiery temper. She has a strong sense of justice, and hates feeling patronized or weak more than just about anything. Despite seeming cold most of the time, Kazuko shows a lot of respect for her elders and superiors, like the older Pros she works with. She also has a tender and friendly side which isn't shown often, but is still there.

Quirk: Kazuko's Quirk is Springs of Pegasus (which the fic she appears in is named after!). She can produce rejuvenating water which can ease pain, injuries, and fatigue in reasonable amounts (often not enough to substitute for a trip to Recovery Girl). She also bears a pair of white wings. They are not as large or strong as Keigo's, and they are simply a part of her body, unable to easily detach from her body. She can feel them just like others can feel her limbs, if not more so, making wing injuries especially painful for her. Her wings also have slight bioluminescence, able to glow in certain spots to light her way. The placement of these spots closely resemble the structure of the Pegasus constellation!

Hobbies: I haven't put much thought into this, but she can play the electric guitar and surf! To decompress, she likes to go on flights at night, especially if Keigo accompanies her. Has forbidden herself from playing video games, though, after she damaged one of Keigo's controllers when she got very angry at a game jdjshgjkdfhk (don't worry she bought him a new one lol)

I just.. I had a thought.

can you just imagine bakugo being an itamae? an itamae is what we most know as a hibachi chef. can you imagine an au where before bakugo became a chef who owned his own restaurant that is his pride and joy, he was an itamae?

seeing him roll in with his cart of ingredients and greeting everyone at the table. the tall red hat standing on top of his head that smoothed down his blonde tufts against his forehead and the nape of his neck.

bakugo asking with a straight face if there’s anyone who’s celebrating anything. and then he starts his routine.

he’s banging the cooking utensils to a rhythm he knew by heart. all the while he’s preparing the grill with oil. he does the usual displays that an itamae does. the onion tower that sets on fire, the beating rice heart, the egg hat trick.

while he doesn’t smile or laugh like the other itamae’s he has this small smirk to his face whenever he plays around with his utensils. flipping and spinning and throwing things in the air as if it were nothing.

and who knows, maybe you might have not have noticed but maybe he, bakugo, was staring at you the whole time.

thinking about being the only person who can make bakugo laugh. sure he does cackles, shrieks, and does boisterous laughs but you make him do the ones that leave him in tears. the belly laughs that have him snorting at least once and having the air stolen out of his lungs. the laughs that make his heart jump. the laughs that leaves a faint pink tinge on his cheeks. the laughs that sounds more like a chuckle, a small one, a hum. you make him laugh like an idiot in love. because he is, for you.

dad suna dad suna dad suna. i have a feeling that when you and suna become parents, you would be the one holding the phone this time. so suna better be prepared for the times where your child, still a baby, has taken a dump in their diapers and oh god it would stink, and suna has to be the one to clean him up. he better be prepared when he sees you take out your phone to record him while trying to snuff out your laughter because of the face he pulled when checking your baby’s diaper. guess now he knows how his friends felt back in middle school whenever he recorded them.

headcannons on what they think look good on you including: the main trio of bnha

bakugo: chapstick

this man is a sucker for chaptick. he never understood a girls appeal to wanting to have shiny lip gloss or matte lipstick of all shades as he was focused on being a hero. but the thing that really stuck to him with you was chapstick. you used the standard carmex, cherry flavored, and also one that was mint, he didn’t remember what brand that one was. but he loved the way it left your lips soft, their natural color could send him into a daze, although he didn’t want to admit it. he especially loved the burn it left whenever you kissed. it stung at his own lips, and it made him smell like you. just another way of him being close to you.

deku: scarves

scarves, scarves, scarves. this man is in love with scarfs, just look at the one he wears for winter. he has scarves of all colors and designs. he loves seeing them on you though. he couldn’t explain it, but seeing you nuzzle your face in it while sitting down on the train on the way to school, it made him fill with a sense of pride. what was his made you feel safe. that was all he needed. he especially also loved matching scarves.

todoroki: turtlenecks

turtlenecks. oh god have you seen this man and his collection? his casual outfit when at home was comfortable yet fashionable slacks and a goddamn turtleneck. he loved seeing them on you too. you stole [when really he just gave it to you because the cold season was coming around] his favorite one, which happened to be a dark shade of blue that he loved. and he loved it even more when you wore it, it made him wrap his arms around you from behind and place his head on your shoulder. seeing you duck your head into the collar of these makes him want to dedicate a whole entire album of photos just to keep a permanent memory of seeing you like this. he also thinks they come in handy whenever he leaves a hickey or two on you.

“bakugo come on, we’re gonna be late!”

it was morning on a thursday, the sky seemed calm. there was no evident sign of the sun in the sky, only pale grey clouds covering it like a blanket. it was winter after all. you stood by the gate entrance of the home of the bakugo’s, waiting for probably one of the loudest kids in the neighborhood to show up already.

“bakugo, i swear to god, i’m leaving without you if you don’t hurry up!”

“ok, jesus y/n wait the fuck up!”

“i’ve been waiting for five minutes already, we gotta go!”

“then wait five more!”

he always knew how to retaliate your comments you gave him. both of you never really gave each other a chance to have a consistent winner in these games of screaming back and forth. you sighed for what seemed the umpteenth time. there was a little breeze coming in, so you hugged the jacket that covered your uniform closer to you. 

“bakugo!” you yelled a third time, a little irritated that he was taking so long, he never took long.

“y/n!” he yelled back, in the same tone as you did, asshole.

bakugo finally rushed out of his home's door, pausing only to hop slightly to adjust his shoes. he ran towards you with his light brown scarf in his hand. he huffed while wrapping it around his neck. 

“damn you can’t even wait a few minutes, impatient ass.”

“well you were taking too long while i was starting to feel my ass freeze over.“

he snorted and retorted with something along the lines of, “what ass?”

you rolled your eyes at him and walked along the sidewalk. it was thursday, a school day, and ever since you started going to school with bakugo, you were never late. so it seemed odd to you that all of a sudden to see him taking longer than he normally would have.

“soooo, why were you taking so long? forgot your underwear or something?”

“the fuck, hell no! i was just looking for something.”

“something? oh come on you’re not even going to give me a little hint to what made you so panicky this fine morning? you even made the clouds worried.”

bakugo gave you the stink eye. but at the same time he moved his left hand out of his pocket where he always seemed to stuff it in. he pulled out a glittery object, the size of a card. well maybe because it was a card, an all might card.

“i was looking for this you idiot.”

“...you know show and tell stopped like in elementary school, right?”

“of course i know!“ bakugo yelled back at you, he shoved it back in his pocket along with his hand. there was a moment of silence between you two, before he sighed and mumbled.

“i’ve always had it on me, you remember when i got those chips with deku and my old friends back then?” 

“the all might chips? yeah i remember those.”

“remember the card i showed you that i got from them?”

you shook your head slightly, to signal a ‘no’ until your mind went back to the card in his pocket. you let out a loud ‘oh!’.

“wait, but why do you still have it?” you wanted to know. those chips were just any old merchandise that helped all might’s name and company earn more money. any other kid could have had it. 

bakugo took another long line of silence before opening his mouth again. the tips of his ears were tinged a now slight pink, and it didn’t look like it was from the cold.

“...i... always wanted to have all might autograph it. wouldn’t mean shit to me if he just signed a random paper, though.”

you remained quiet for a few seconds. so it was that important to him? wait so how long has that card been with him? has he really always carried it alongside him? a small smile grew on your face, remembering when he came over to your house with his friend group shouting how he got all might’s card. he was so happy he was practically bouncing off the walls.

“one day, i’m gonna make all might sign this!”

BNHA Comfort-Tober

Prompts: Sunrise | Royal | ”Hey baby, I think I want to marry you.”

From what he remembers, the sunrises in Hawaii are stunning. Toshinori is far too old to have been up all night, but with the sky so clear, the peace so deep, and a very willing and enthusiastic partner in his bed, it hadn’t been that difficult to get up before the dawn to sneak down to a deserted beach to watch it come up.

Speaking of his partner, Shouto has stepped over to a small coffee shop to grab them caffeine to watch the sun come up before they retreat to their hotel room again. Somewhere nearby, a radio plays, close enough for Toshinori to pick up on the lyrics.

It’s a beautiful night. We’re looking for something dumb to do. Hey baby, I think I want to marry you.

Shouto comes back to the car, two cups in his hands, unbothered by the heat of the coffee. He hands one to Toshinori, then hops up on the hood next to him. With only the light of false dawn to frame him, hair loose and tangled from their evening activities, Shouto is so gorgeous, he nearly steals Toshinori’s breath.

He must feel Toshinori’s gaze on him because he glances up from blowing on his coffee. “Is there something on my face?” he asks, pulling a loose lock back behind his ear.

Intercepting his hand, Toshinori says, “No. Not a thing. I was just... thinking.”

“About?” Shouto asks. It’s an undemanding query, curious but not if Toshinori chooses not to answer, he won’t be bothered. Toshinori doesn’t think he’s ever had a lover who seems to read him so well.

“Marriage,” Toshinori says honestly, the chorus of the song playing again.

Shouto chokes on the sip he just took, and Toshinori pats his back to help clear it while Shouto coughs. When he can speak again, he says, “That’s...” Toshinori waits, but Shouto turns his gaze out to the sea, where the first sliver of the sun is creeping over the horizon. “Just... let me know when you’re ready to move on,” he finally says, wistful, almost pained.

Surprised, Toshinori takes Shouto’s chin in his hand and turns him to face him again. “Shouto, the only one I want to marry is you.”

In the barely-there light, the colors of Shouto’s eyes are muted, but they’re still wide.

“You can’t want that,” he says, not like he’s refusing, but like he can’t believe it. “You’re... you’re hero royalty, and I’m...”

“Also a hero,” Toshinori points out gently. “And a very good one.” He takes a breath and says, “If you’ve no interest in marrying an old man, I understand--”

“Yes!” Shouto blurts, interrupting. “I mean, no. I mean--” He blows his bangs up, the way he does when he’s frustrated, and Toshinori finds it endlessly endearing. “If you’ll have me, yes, I’ll marry you.”

“Even though I’m a washed up old man?” Toshinori can’t help but tease.

“Not washed up,” Shouto says, a undertone of censure in his voice. “And an experienced partner is, in my experience, a very good thing,” he adds with a small grin curling one side of his mouth. “And I would be honored to marry you, Yagi Toshinori. If you meant it, that is.”

“Nothing would make me happier,” he says, setting aside his coffee to pull Shouto into his arms.

They miss the sunrise, wrapped up in one another, but there will be other sunrises. Kissing Shouto as the sun comes up and warms them both is a memory Toshinori wouldn’t trade for the world.

Yes, it’s Todoroki Shouto (not me putting the wrong name all the way through). This is one of my pet favorite rare pairs, and I’ve got a monster headache at work for the next work that’s making writing very difficult, so I thought I’d try to do shorts for Comfort-tober. Plan was to keep them between 100-500 words, so naturally, first run at it is 590. 🤦‍♀️ Ah, well. I like it. I’m going to throw all of these on Tumblr until I get through them, and then I’ll decide how the hell I want to move them over to AO3.

ConfessionsI have kinda grown to dislike the Dear Evan Hansen fandom. Don't get me wrong, about half of them are okay. They other ones, well.....

I'll explain

The Dear Evan Hansen fandom:

They tend to excuse this characters actions(Conner) by saying he was struggling with his mental health, but bash a different character(Jared) because of his actions.

I get, and understand that he(Conner) was struggling. I really do, don't get me wrong. He needed help in the story, but didn't get it. But he lashed out mostly(I'm pretty sure) on his sister Zoe. The Fandom doesn't understand that it isn't an excuse. In canon it was mentioned Conner banged on Zoes door, threatening to kill her. Like????? Zoe is probably traumatized because of that.

NOW I get he was struggling, but his actions effected Zoe, even after his death(he died in canon)

Jared(who is lowkey hated) lashed out, and says hurtful things because he is deeply insecure. Now I am not defending his action, nor agreeing with them. Jared isn't right for bullying others because he is insecure. I do not excuse his actions at all, he had no right to say that nasty thing to Conner(I won't write it because holy fuck)

But that's the problem, he is the problem. Like I like all these characters, because they are all bad people. They all are fucked up characters. You can look at every single character, and if you did even a bit of analysis. You can be like "damn, they suck"

This can boil down to the Dear Evan Hansen community can act like hypocrites.

Haven't been I the Fandom for years, but this is the issues I faced when I was actively in it. I don't know if it has changed since then, I hope it has. Because I have met other people who have faced the same problems as me with the whole Jared slander.

There is other issues, but this is the big one/main one

That's a yikes from me. Now I never seen Dear Evan Hansen, know it's a musical, but haven't seen it. So I'm just going off what you just told me and my own feelings.

(I apologize that this response got long. I wasn't expecting it to get this long, I ramble, I'm sorry.)

But that is just strange to excuse one character's actions but not another. Both characters are flawed and I feel like... okay, taking this from my experience in the BNHA fandom.

Sometimes I feel like that people feel "bad" about liking a flawed character so they "make excuses" to lighten the load of their actions. And it may stem from the fact others act as if it's illegal to like flawed characters and be asses about it. It's like "you're only allowed to have one, but not all" and "you can only like this character if they're not that bad".

It's kinda what I'm picking up here. The DEH fandom picks one character that is "only acceptable" to be liked, just to have that authority and excuse to bother others who oppose and have a different opinion, and the other characters are bad, can't like them, you're not allowed to.

It makes no sense to me.

It reminds of... if you have two favorite colors and then that one kid is like "no, you can only pick one"! Well, why can't I have more than one favorite color?

I also want to bring this up, the "making excuses" thing since it's on my mind (I brought it up).

To me, there's a difference between stating the obvious and just being open-minded to reasoning compared to making excuses for a character making bad decisions.

To make excuses it's sweeping their actions under the rug. It's "Well, it's not that bad compared to this" or "that really didn't happen, you're just making it seem worse than what it is". You're lightening the load as to what was really done.

This is done for characters who are usually the "good characters" who aren't goody-two shoes and sunshine because "they're good, they can't be flawed". Or even for villain characters that people want to make seem not as bad from the pressure of others being total jerks about them liking said characters.

Now to state the obvious or have open-minded reasoning it's digging into that character's backstory, it's analyzing their actions and going "Maybe this why they did this, maybe this is why they are like this". It's sounds like excuses, I know, but here's where the difference can lie.

Watch the tone. Watch the words.

If someone gives reasoning as to why a character did what they did and still say "it's still bad that they did that", all they are doing is giving you a cause and an effect. That's it. They're aware of how bad that character is and they're not saying they're okay with it, but just making an observation.

Honestly, to me, if someone likes a character that is a villain or done bad things, I don't see why I should care. They like that character, find them entertaining. Even if I hate that character, I'm not gonna bother them about it.
