Thelreads, MHA 285, Replies Part 2
1) “tell me Horikoshi, what happened to the other kid the one that had a flying quirk tell me you didn’t, for example, turn him into a nomu and then killed him without us realizing, right? tell me because not showing us the other kid here would make it seem like you don’t want us to remember him”- Honestly, given the shit the kids already have to deal with in the current situation, and just how many people Garaki has no doubt transformed into Nomua, I’m not sure if that will ever be clarified to the kids. It’s another traumatic event for them to deal with when they’re already being subjected to so much trauma in the present, and just like All Might’s withholding information for Izuku’s wellbeing – and Mic is no doubt gonna have to do the same for Aizawa concerning the truth of Shirakumo’s death – they simply might not tell the kids if it ever gets found out.
2) “Bakugo, is it just me, or are you just having your whole life flash before your eyes as you approach the two calamities locked in a duel to the death? I was joking about it before you know, you don’t need to actually jump there and die, you know?”- He took that as a personal challenge.
But here, we see both the good and bad that’s come of OFA, how it allowed Izuku to stand up to Bakugo’s bullying, even when he went as far as taunting him to jump off a roof, and make him acknowledge his rival’s strengths….
3) “jesus fucking christ look how battered my kid is”-
…Contrasted against how he’s become from indulging in that strength without limitation, pushing himself into a ragged mess out of his mania to save everybody, beleivng it’s all on him and no-one else can do it. Blessing and curse, both in one.
4) “Yeah Bakugo, you always knew he would turn out like this, didn’t you? There was never a way to keep Midoriya away from this fate, quirkless or not.”- When Izuku gained the power, he gained so much from it.but he never gained enough self-respect to properly control himself when his emotions are pushed to the breaking point. For all the good he’s doing in damaging Tomura and holding him back, he’s taking on irreversible damage with every blow, all without thinking it through. Bakugo’s face shows all the concern that Izuku should have for himself, but doesn’t, in part because of how worthless he’s been made to feel from being born Quirkless.
5) “AND HE GRABBED HIM TARGET SECURED, NOW IT’S TIME TO BURN LIKE THE FUCKING SUN LOOK AWAY FOLKS, THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET… SHINY”- The backup plan was to use float and OFA as propulsion to launch Tomura into the sun, but why go that far when Endevour can just make his own?
6) “IT’S HIM IT’S FUCKING HIM HE’S TAKING OVER SHIGARAKI NOW THAT HE’S ABOUT TO DIE JESUS NO”- The dramatic irony present from the heroes not realising that Tomura’s effectively the one fetter holding back AFO and his decades of experienced handing of his Quirk from running amok with his new and very durable body. They tried their best to beat Tomura. They succeeded.
7) “WELL AT LEAST HE WASN’T TURNED TO DUST, JUST IMPALED WITH LETHAL FORCE.”- That’s how we know who’s in command. Tomura would just dust Endeavour, but AFO will make the execution bloody and painful.
8) “OH GOD OH FUCK THAT’S NOT SHIGARAKI ANYMORE THAT’S DEFINITELY NOT SHIGARAKI ANYMORE HE TOOK OVER”- And as Tomura’s control slips away, so too does his face, leaving only the black human-shaped being that is AFO in command, his exterior a mirror of his twisted soul within, faceless and malevolent as always, no matter the age of his current target.
(MHA ch 261) 9) “What did he asked you? To make sure they were dead? Well, its not like you werent planning to give them the oldouble tap anyway, right? Nothing is dead enough that you cant kill it again.”- This statement only becomes more ironically appropriate as Tomura’s durability keeps holding him together despite everything. The man’s practically a cooked corpse here and he’s coming back from even that, and with his body staring to fall to bits like a literal Zombie’s.
10) “BAKUGO YOU BETTER NOT DO SOMETHING STUPID CONSIDERING WE’RE DEALING WITH AFO NOW DON’T JUMP IN AND GET YOUR QUIRK STOLEN, BECAUSE YOU FUCKING KNOW THIS CAN HAPPEN”- Hitting AFO in Tomura’s durable shell does nothing, but hitting the target out of the way….
11) “IS THAT ANOTHER FLASH OF YOUR LIFE BEFORE YOUR EYES BAKUGO I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD IF YOU GET YOURSELF KILLED I’M GOING TO FUCKING SCREAM”- Better warm those pipes up, it’s time to hit the high notes.
(MHA ch 276) 12) “Oh wow this does not bode well for the new big three, considering how were seeing their family members… Its like one of them is gonna die, but considering how Shoto is away from the killzone, we have a 50/50 chance of it being either Midoriya or Bakugo. I vote Bakugo, because of course I would.”- Your vote was counted, the sacrifice accepted…
(MHA ch 276) 13) “Bye bye kids, have fun as far away as fuckily possible, we don`t want any of you two dying today. Wait until Shoto get here so we have a 1/3 chance instead.”- Well, Shoto arrived, and now Bakugou’s been shishkabobbed.
14) “JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I CAN’T BELIEVE BAKUGO IS FUCKING DEAD AS IS ENDEAVOR AND SHIGARAKI BECAUSE AFO IS BACK THROUGH HIM CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK WAS THIS ALSO, HA HA FOR THE TITLE. YEAH BAKUGO IS RISING, RISING TOWARDS THE FUCKING PEARLY GATES WHAT IN THE FUCK”-
“Rising”
The arc words used alongside “origin” to mark the point wherever somebody performs a truly heroic and selfless action that elevates the from being somebody who merely took the career of a hero to actually being one in the flesh.
And just in case the Bakuagnst in this chapter wasn’t enough, here’s the volume cover.
Tumblr media
He’s been thinking about the wrongdoing he did to Izuku for a long time, wondering how different they could have been if he’d only had to courage to reach out to Izuku as well…. NOTE: Oh, before I forget, there was actually somebody on reddit named Doodlelotl who made a few MHA chapter summeries when these were coming out the first time. They only go up to like, 337 or so, but they're pretty enjoyable. Sadly i forgot to upload them when they first became relevant, but I can patch them in here.

was reading some of your analyses and imo pikahlua (bkgo positivity warning(?)) did a compelling write up on what the philosophies of saving vs winning embody within mha’s narrative! the way they delve into it links to the self-sacrifice vs self-preservation themes that you mentioned could've been established /post/743885232524197888
and after searching the phrase(s) win to save & save to win on their blog to see if there was anything else of interest, these other posts also came up as an amalgamation of various aspects of the concept as referenced in chp 322+285 /post/659102230778183680 and /post/658912695886790656
ik you’re not super into the whole WtS/StW thing, nor izk-bkgo’s rship (which is fair! still appreciate your dissection of the story even if i disagree with some stuff) but i do find these posts to be a nice bit of insight to possibly consider re: hrksh’s intentions, if you ever have the patience/energy to look over them. just wanted try sending this in since you’re on the dkvbk2 chapters currently, apologize if i’m overstepping anywhere
Uh, if you want me to read a specific post, perhaps use the full link next time. Luckily, pikahlua's blog is pretty organized and I think I found at least the chapter based posts you were trying to send. Also, it's fine, I don't need a trigger warning for anyone's opinion on a shounen manga.
I'm not convinced. Unless there is some sort of nuance in the Japanese where there was something less self aggrandizing in that winning concept, it really doesn't work. Coming up with a balance between Izuku and Bakugou's approaches makes sense. I can see that was the intention here. But victory has no moral weight; it is not the equal and opposite to saving in heroism. Self respect, self-preservation, self-confidence, etc. - any of those overexaggerated traits in Bakugou could be morally righteous in more moderate doses. Izuku could find some improvement in his heroism by incorporating any of these into himself.
Maybe I'm a bit spoiled by other series that handle this concept of two characters who represent opposite extreme ideals finding balance from each other with far more grace than BNHA.

Kiya, can I ask, when did you start shipping BakuDeku and SatoSugu? For me it's in BNHA chp 285 (I know, kinda late) and the JJK chp 90 (one of my top 10 fav manga chapter ever)....
Ooooh, I'm gonna be honest... I don't even know. At least, with BkDk.
Now for SatoSugu, it was probably when I watched the movie. At that time, I was already into NanaGo (still like it), watched the movie and went "Well, adding one more ship to the armada" because why not?
I'm sorry, there are just too many SatoSugu bits in there and how can I not ship them?! 😆
It will always be funny to me that Suguru was renaming folks with names close to Satoru's name and wearing a piece that has his name in it and Satoru just recognizes Suguru's scent.
Like, bro... HOW?! HOW?!
**
As I said, I'm not too sure with BakuDeku. I actually watched seasons 2 and 3 first before season 1, and by then I did have other Izuku and Katsuki ships I liked. But watching season 3, especially became an eye opener, so I wanna say around that time.
I also binge read the manga, so then it was like "Oh my gosh"...
It was just always stuck out to me that Izuku calls Katsuki "Kacchan" and not once Katsuki tells him not to. Katsuki being Katsuki, you would think he wouldn't like to be called such a cute nickname and given he will be bold about anything else and have said something before but no. Izuku can call him that however he pleases.

I just wanted to say thank you for your services. I dropped bnha years ago and am not particularly interested in picking up the main plot again but I AM heavily invested in Bakugou's fate haha you're a gem
That's very fair. The manga right now is going through the different battles and you don't know which pov it's going to next, it's either going to be the same one in the next chapter or something else entirely.
Bakugou was my favorite from the very beginning of when I started the anime in 2018 and then I picked up the manga right around chapter 285, so I am particularly very invested in his fate.
I'd hate to be an anime only in season 7

Boy oh boy, are we in for a treat today aren't we? The first Chapter that we liveblog in 2024, and look at that, is a BNHA chapter where the name isn't listed on the folder. That... seems like it will be FUN :)
But alright alright, I know that there's always a huge revelation or the title itself is a spoiler, I know how it works, it ain't my first rodeo, so, where did we left last time? Oh Yeah, Bakugo taking steps on his redemption arc and Midoriya being fucking pissed. Yeah, that's the gist of it, so let us jump in on Chapter 285!
Tumblr media
THAT CERTAINLY BODES WELL FOR THIS CHAPTER :))))
Tumblr media
But even with that in mind, Midoriya seems to have been using a higher output of power and even so he hasn't slink-ified his arms yet, so, it seems like we know what the chapter will be about.

Boy Uraraka's parents are gonna be fucking loaded once this all is done. Christ, her family, is gonna be living like royalty.

Look at this idiot.
BakuDeku - To be honest, the training arc was pretty damning for Midoriya. His exchange with Compress, in particular, was really vulnerable (and embarrassing, what a nerd). But it took a lot longer to understand where the feelings could be reciprocated by Bakugo because of Midoriya’s limited perspective. This is why I don’t pass up on KiriBaku, either. However, the more information we get, the more we see that the ship has been sailing since day one.
Tumblr media
This is the face of someone seeing their ex and acting like it doesn’t bother them.
SatoSugu - JJK 0 because why are y’all like that!? Hidden Inventory was, of course, exquisite evidence of their fondness but you mean to tell me y’all are on a flirty first name basis STILL and Gojo just ponders a sunset alone when he’s predisposed to talk shit before and during a fight? PLEASE. Geto basically invited him for crepes and Gojo just moped. I am unwell and I would like their story to have way more air time and exposure.

Okay so the last post wasn't my last BNHA one for the time being but I wanted to expand on this one (how I think Midoriya Izuku: Rising would go), 'cause I kept thinking "how would the buildup to it even go" and I wanted to share!
Also, I'll alternate between Tenko and Tomura a lot in this post, I apologize for it.
So, with that in mind, spoilers for the manga, up until Chapter 417, ahead!
Okay, so the vestige world is going back in time for Izuku and Tomura; and it has currently rewinded to their origins- Izuku, as at least a part of his origins (as you could make a case he was already on his way since the Quirkless diagnosis, while the Sludge Villain incident was a checkpoint). As such, it's likely Izuku will rewind the closer he gets to Shimura family death.
So, based on previous encounters, Tomura would need to be shown a commonality between him and Izuku (being underestimated, told it's impossible for them to be heroes) or the extent he's willing to go to save a person (Lady Nagant, Eri, Kota, Katsuki). With that in mind, I don't know if Izuku would be willing to think about the last one, because of the worms inside that can.
It's a little tiring to hear the same thing, but that "control your heart" thing is indeed very important for Izuku- because how do you connect to someone like Tomura- who has (mostly) lost hope for help if you keep repressing the feeling he'd also connect with? Can anyone recall the last time we've seen, unambiguously, Izuku's thoughts?
This, is where Izuku's repression problem comes in- the first and last setback of his: "Not all men are created equal"; he is the central representation of the matter... and so are the two people involved in this narrative:
Izuku wasn't created equal to most characters, despite BNHA's house of mirrors game: no relation to heroes, no Quirk, no one to encourage him to become one through other means, no self-worth- He's like a lot of characters, but no character is like him, period, least of all Tenko or Katsuki.
Tenko wasn't created equal to Izuku because his relation to Nana (a hero) is what caused Kotaro's resentment to resurface, and Tomura's faith in heroes was shattered because the one who "cared" for him was AFO, who groomed him to be a vessel. We don't even know yet if Decay was his all along or not!
Katsuki wasn't created equal to Izuku because he was thought strong by his Quirk, and too much encouragement caused confidence to become arrogance. He grew up with love, yes, but what was expected of him (to be an arrogant hero? Izuku's closest person? An extra character?) could've been the reason he would have died.
So, they all foil each other in some way, shape or form- but the main contrast between Izuku, and Katsuki and Tomura: he hides one emotion he should be allowed to feel since chapter 1: Unbridled rage. Even in situations he'd be justified, do we see him lose it like in chapter 82-83, 210, 285 and just barely 367?
With all of that information, let's return to Chapter 417; the most recent one as of now.
We know Izuku's priorities- others before himself, even at the cost of his safety. A suicidal recklessness, especially when it comes to kids-Kota and Eri come to mind, Katsuma and Mahoro as well. The panel of him jumping in to reach for Tenko while Nana confronts Kotaro is the best representation of it. So it wouldn't be surprising if he'd stick by Tenko's side during the first Decay (assuming it's Tomura's memory and not the actual person). He's always been like that, the Quirkless teen who just wanted to help people like All Might once did.
Tomura would most likely falter on his resolve, after all, no one helped him in the aftermath of the Shimura tragedy, while Izuku just saw a kid in need and decided to protect him. But I can also see this is where Izuku would lose it as well.
This is where, I think, the memory merging would come in. Tomura reminiscing on the misery that is his life, and Izuku finally losing it once he realized he and Tomura are similar, with all of his rage finally coming loose... But also that he can use that to connect to him, using the embers of OFA he can feel. Not all, but just enough. Dark Deku returns, his feelings of inadequacy, of not belonging anywhere.
Because Izuku knows that feeling of unfairness, of knowing people don't believe in his dreams. But he knows anyone can make a difference, he needs to see how much he already did, just by being the one willing to give a hand for those who needed it. He needs to know where his origin really begins- not when All Might decided to be his mentor, but when he was the first who stepped up to help when it mattered, the sludge villain incident.
For someone who would've fit with the League, had the wrong right cards been dealt for him.
This would be where Tenko would probably cease, at least enough to hear Izuku out. Still as kids, they would probably fight until Izuku breaks through, until both collapse in exhaustion in the vestige world- not only from the fight, but from their emotional state. Just two kids who are tired.
Who, by all accounts, should've been like Tomura, right?
Weren't heroes and villains the same, after all?
The outside world holds their breath, for there is no movement yet. But all beg Izuku to do his best.
Nothing can erase their pasts, but Izuku doesn't want to focus on that. He needs to accept it's a part of him. So does Tomura.
And just as they finally come to an understanding, and Izuku lends a hand- a promise the future can be better despite everything, Tenko is snatched again by a plethora of forceful grips. AFO's trump card is activated- something that tries to break Tenko and possess Tomura again. Izuku tries pulling him out of it, but is slowly consumed as well. In this moment, they grow back to their current ages, while Izuku can barely move. He has no strength, no Quirks, no help, and he'll die then and there.
But.
The vestiges are conscious enough to rebel against AFO, like before. One more time. Maybe for the last time?
Izuku is still connected to One For All.
And he's not the only one.
Maybe this is the last time One For All will exist. But if All For One is defeated, if Tomura is saved, it's worth it at any costs.
The vestiges find their way back to Izuku, trying to pull him out, while he holds on to Tomura, who's terrified of being taken control of once again. They lack the same strength of the Quirk, but still make enough of a difference. Yet, it's not enough.
Until the two hands of a UA student appear beside him.
If their feelings are one, then Izuku knows who it is, and feels something new, worrying, regretful and afraid, but surprisingly for Izuku, he's kind, fully trusting. Vestige or not, that weakness needs to become his strength, just like before, then. So, Izuku channels that part of him, the one he’s ashamed of, and turns into something he’s proud of.
That voice says one thing: Do your best.
And therefore, his strength, complemented by the missing piece of Katsuki’s vestige, ends up being the turning point.
Izuku rips Tomura out of All For One’s grip, in the vestige world and the real world— an explosion; the shape of a star just like the one moments before. The cocoon is destroyed, the hands are shattered and falling from the sky. Tomura is unconscious, but his grip doesn’t decay Izuku at all.
In that moment, the world cheers, as Izuku gets up, a scarred right fist in the air just like his idol. The fight was won, and Tomura was defeated., No, he was saved. Japan was saved. The world was saved.
Deku, Midoriya Izuku rises, and becomes the world’s greatest hero.

Thelreads, MHA 285, Replies Part 1
1) “But alright alright, I know that there’s always a huge revelation or the title itself is a spoiler, I know how it works, it ain’t my first rodeo, so, where did we left last time? Oh Yeah, Bakugo taking steps on his redemption arc and Midoriya being fucking pissed. Yeah, that’s the gist of it, so let us jump in on Chapter 285!”- Hey, you know what the most popular form of redemption is?….dying through a heroic sacrifice to save the hero! It happened in Star Wars, and since Horikoshi’s a proven SW nerd….
2) “THAT CERTAINLY BODES WELL FOR THIS CHAPTER :)))) “- Well, they stopped Izuku from reaching the point of no return, but given who swapped out for Tomura as their main opponent, it might actually have been better to let him keep going, even with the sacrifice of his body….
3) “But even with that in mind, Midoriya seems to have been using a higher output of power and even so he hasn’t slink-ified his arms yet, so, it seems like we know what the chapter will be about.”- His arms are still pointing the right way, and he’s been training his body’s durability to better contain his full power. Sadly, AFO accelerated his plans so quickly there’s just not enough time to properly master his strength no matter how hard he focuses on it, so all Izuku can do is push himself to whatever limits he’s got and work with that, praying it’ll be enough….but it looks like that’s a vain hope regardless. Toura’s biggest advantage is no doubt his healing right now. No matter how hard Izuku beats him, the fact that Tomura can undo it means that he can always recover better than izuku, and nothing the heroes have hit him with has yet managed to psuh im beyond the point of no return. Unless somebody can figure out a way to make the damage permanently stick, conflict with Tomura is a steady losing one regardless of what advantages we have against him.
4) “huummmmmm… I know what it means when the arms looks like that, seems like we’re slowly getting to the point of no return for that limb.”- Not yet past the limit, but Izuku should prey that Eri’s managed to master her Rewind enough to get him back into fighting shape. At this point, he’ll have to cripple himself just to get AFO to back off from the fighting, let alone actually stopping him.
5) “You know Midoriya, I think it would be far safer and more devastating if you were using your legs to kick him around. Keep the arms intact to allow you to use blackwhip and kick him like the football”- On the other (non-broken) hand, Izuku still needs to walk and move under his own power. When the dust settles in the aftermath, Izuku needs his legs to be functioning more than he needs his arms, and whilst he is using all his limbs right now, he can more afford to go hog-wild with his upper set than his lower, because his Black Whip can, if needed, compensate for his arms, even if he can no longer throw a punch. If he’s gonna cripple himself stopping Tomura, then his arms are simply better to fully exhaust than his legs.
6) “Midoriya my boy I know you’re absolutely livid but jesus fuck that is a lot of punishment on your arms! I haven’t seen you throw a single kick so far even though that was supposed to be your thing, what happened? Did the rage clouded your mind, and you want to defeat him All Might-style?”- It might be a bit hard to tell, but Izuku actually is throwing kicks in there- just so fast it’s hard to see. The “st Louis” attack is one he used for his kick-based style, and his legs are constantly blurring throughout this barrage because he’s using all four limbs to batter Tomura’s shit in – if they weren’t in mid-air, he’d be an immobile target flopping about on the ground right now, but thanks to his current Quirk combination, he can fully burn through every limb he’s got until Tomura takes more damage than he can recover from – which also fuels the reasoning behind him going that far. Once Izuku stops, he won’t be able to fight at this 100% level anymore, and will be wide open, so it’s all or nothing right now.
7) “Okay so it is in fact working, even with the regeneration at a fraction of the expected it seems like Midoriya is managing to overpower it, but to be honest I don’t know if Midoriya’s body can keep it together long enough to finish Shigaraki. We’re on a point where it’s a race to see whose body’s blow up first.”- One boy’s racing towards self-destruction, the other’s trying to resist it, and it’s hard to tell whose physical conditioning will allow them to triumph – only that no other hero/villain could force the other to go this far to win. If nothing else, this fight cements that each other is the only counter to their immense full power.
8) “Midoriya please take a chill pill before you burst a vein on your brain”- Unfortunately, AFO’s here to throw a barrel of gasoline on the fire….
9) “I have a feeling this is gonna be a hell of a high-five they are about to inflict upon the world”- Izuku will throw hands until he literally only has stubs to thrash Tomura with.
10) “There must be a myriad of quirks that can be used to counter Midoriya’s onslaught, but can you manage to use them properly Shigaraki? This boy specializes in analyzing the situation and counteracting it immediately, and he just shut-off any sense of self-preservation, are you sure you have what it takes to stand up to him?”- Having so many powers you’ve only just wakened to and haven’t gotten a feel for is actually a massive disadvantage. It means you have too many options in a fight, whereas Izuku’s more limited number in comparison allows him to be quicker in action. Yes, Tomura may actually be stronger than Izuku in theory, but if he never gets a chance to use said strength, it’s meaningless.
11) “Also, yeah, Midoriya can’t, but does he care? And even if Shigaraki can regenerate, he himself already admitted that it is not managing to keep up, so he probably is gonna break down eventually. Both of them will in fact.”- The Hyper Regeneration is the key element here. With it, all Tomura needs is rest and the Quirk will eventually restore all the damage he’s taken like it never happened at all. In contrast, if Izuku gets too damaged, it means he can’t recover to the same extent, and with him accumulating injuries every time he’s gone overboard like this, it means if they both break down, Tomura’s the one who’ll come off better in the aftermath, so Izuku’s only real chance is to put everything he’s got into play, in hopes that Tomura get stuck with an injury he can’t recover from.
12) “Alright, so Shoto got promoted to lift operator, he’s gonna bring them closer to the two clashing titans so they don’t waste their precious firepower. Literally on Endeavor’s case. The roads have no idea what’s coming for them…”- Endeavour’s heat control and the ability to carbonise cells beyond Hyper Regeneration’s capacity to heal is their second-best option after OFA’s might- I believe that’s why parts of Tomura’s body are crumbling off after his barbequing – they’re too damaged to heal, so they’re being ejected from the main body for new tissue to replace them. Which means that the prominence burn was enough to almost kill Tomura….but sadly, pushing him to the brink of death just allowed his master the opportunity to step in and take the reins once his grip slipped.
13) “Rock please, you have no idea how many times they face death every week, trust me, they’ll be fine. The same can’t be said about endeavor, he’s about to go out with a boom, so to speak.”- Rock Lock being faced with the fact that he, the adult in this situation, can do nothing to protect them, despite the fact he logically should, because he’s ultimately just a side-character in this clash of titans. He wouldn’t have been even able to help with carbonising Tomura if he stepped in now. On the other hand, I like that the characters always acknowledge that these kids shouldn’t be doing this, fighting on the front lines, because whilst this is a war, it doesn’t need to be theirs. Unforcedly, whether he likes it or not, it’s always been Izuku’s war, his burden to bear alongside OFA, and his classmates are there to help him shoulder it however they can.
14) “WAIT BAKUGO, I THOUGHT THAT SHOTO WAS GONNA BRING YOU UP THERE AS WELL SO YOU DIDN’T WASTE YOUR SWEAT ARE YOU THAT IMPATIENT?!”- Might need a re-read. Bakugo says that he’s got the lifting covered, Shoto’s just there to help cool Endeavour down as much as he can so he can unleash a maximum Prominence Burn to his very limits.
15) “Look, by the time you guys get in there he’s gonna be a bit more than a piece of flesh barely holding on to itself, but still fighting. There’s no way to stop him now, even if Shigaraki is put down, he won’t stop.”- If he breaks off his limbs, he’s still got his teeth.
16) “Ooookay bakugo, this moment again… tell me, are you suspecting about something? Did you figure out on your own what is it that All Might was keeping from Midoriya? Have you found out how the not-Nana user meet their end?”- It’s not so much that Bakugo’s figured something out – in fact it’s the opposite. It’s what he doesn’t know about OFA, the unspoken mystery around the 4th and all the changes that have been occurring in the power that not even All Might is fully aware of or has any context for, and what the end result of these will be for Izuku – why him specifically, did it manifest? Will he be negatively affected by this transformation? Can he handle the full power, or will it be too much for his body, even after non-stop training? These and all the rest of the flashbacks tie into the underlying theme- Bakugo’s worried for Izuku, specifically because he knows him better than anybody else, and he knows he’s not worried for himself, no matter the damage he takes.
17) “I mean, yeah it is pretty much the same thing, we already talked about it before. They are the same, but they operate on opposite ends of the same scale, one grows by taking by force, the other grows by giving with consent. They are the same, but also, they are opposites.”- The opposite, but the same. In much the same way, for all the benefits that OFA gives Izuku, it brings him a lot of disadvantages- the self-damage to his body, the unknown changes taking place within it, how Izuku’s somehow in connection with actual ghosts of dead people, the fact that it makes him a massive target for Villains and specifically AFO – OFA has let Izuku do a lot of good, but it’s also been a curse to him as well, looking at all the negatives it’s brought into his life.
18) “Oh I remember this moment… Seems like you’re having some bad flashbacks right now Bakugo”- Worried for izuku’s wellbeing, because he’s seen him at his lowest, and knows he’s played a large part in that – guilt over how his insecurity lead to him bullying Izuku out of rejection for him, and how that fed into izuku’s low self-esteen which is playing a part in him brutally destroying himself at present right now, heedless of the self-damage.
19) “okay sorry I’m immediately distracted by the person back there on the right with eye-stalks. I want to know more about them, are they a slug? I want to see the Slugson (Slug person)”- But as much as the power has resulted in some negatives in Izuku’s life, it inspired him and Bakugo both, allowed All Might to show them what a real hero was like and gave them both a direction to channel their efforts into, gave Izuku hope of actually becoming a hero despite his powerlessness, even if it was originally created for a darker purpose of killing an evil madman, it’s become so much more than that. It’s been a blessing to Izuku in many ways as well, one that Bakugo is actually grateful for as much as he’s scared for Izuku’s wellbeing, because it allowed Izuku to confront him and Bakugo to acknowledge his own weakness that lead to their falling out. Good and bad things have both come from this power. @thelreads

Will this make Deku stop for a moment of clarity or is he gonna go (even more) apeshit on Shigaraki for hurting his Kacchan?

(bnha chapter 280+ spoilers)
✅ Mentor/ grandfather figure just got his leg ripped off and stabbed right before your eyes
✅ Favorite teacher just cut off his own leg and passed out from the pain and loss of blood right before your eyes
✅ Childhood friend and closest rival saves you and gets impaled in your place right before your eyes
✅ Your arms are completely demolished and probably feel like All Might just punched both sides of your body repeatedly right now(which is... basically what happened tbh except you punched yourself and now your arms are broken beyond repair 👍 )
✅ Your quirk, arguably humanity's only hope at this point, is currently getting stolen from you
