On its surface, this dialogue between Izuku and Aoyama was about preparing for their roles in Class 1A's concert. Dig a bit deeper and this scene reveals quite a bit about their frames of mind and lays the groundwork for some subtle foreshadowing.

This little scene centers two characters who have little to no regard for their own well-being: Izuku and Aoyama. They are not characters that act in their own interests despite Aoyama's more egocentric front. So Aoyama's dialogue on how people can do great things for the sake of other people is meant reveal his true colors.

The rope Izuku used to hold up Aoyama became frayed during their practice. At a surface level, this was a plot contrivance to get to the Gentle Criminal conflict. Aoyama's explanation that it's a symbol of their strengthened friendship after overcoming hardship also has some merit. But also consider, Izuku did not have the right tools to help Aoyama carry the burdens he was facing at this time in the manga.

As for the foreshadowing, that "sorry I didn't notice until now..." in retrospect was also a hint towards the traitor reveal. Izuku repeated the same sentiment to Aoyama in chapter 337.

Genuinely, if Gentle and La Brava were smarter about this, they could have made Izuku into the bad guy here for jumping the gun like this. They hadn't done anything up to this point to warrant this amount of force
