Their first tour in 2005, Bring Me the Horizon were able to get on the bill by ‘tricking’ venue promoters.
Olly Mitchell, frontman of now-defunct hardcore band called Johnny Truant, says:
“I remember one show in Nottingham we played with them, Oli Sykes had hacked into our Myspace and emailed the promoter pretending to be us, asking for [bmth] to be added to the bill. Genius!”
[Oli Sykes]: “Two minutes later, we got an email asking us to play. Those are the sort of things we’d do to get a show.”

Top 10 songs of 2022, reviewed by yours truly
10, Artificial Suicide by Bad Omens
I was pretty late for the new Bad Omens album hype but this song has always been in rotation since the album release in February. The rest of the album is pretty good as well, but this song stands out for me because of heaviness and the lyrical theme. Bad Omens are one of the bands nowadays that dare to change without faking it. Amazing song.
9. Miracle by A Day To Remember
I'm one of those elder emos who remember the biggest hype around ADTR around 2014 or so. I always considered Homesick as one of the greatest albums of all time and after their last album, You're Welcome, I was just as disappointed as everyone else. Thankfully being an Imagine Dragons cover band didn't last long. They came back with this single with probably one of my favorite breakdowns of the year. Completely unexpected but very well done.
8. Techno Train by Electric Callboy
German metalcore band Electric Callboy had a pretty busy year. First they tried to apply to the Eurovision song contest with their song 'Pump It' that brought a lot of new fans to the band, but ultimately got rejected because of their old name and old lyrical themes that, needless to say would be 100% cancelled today. Because of this rejection and because they realized they're here to entertain, not offend, they changed their name. Then they put out bangers after bangers with schlager turned deathcore song 'Hurricane', a collab with Conquer Divide called 'Fuckboi', and a song about being a Spaceman with a german verse I don't even understand. Then they released their album Tekkno which is arguably one of the best overall records of the year. This song however stands out just because of the lyrical ridiculousness. The CHOO-CHOO-CHOO in the breakdown is the thing this year that never fails to make me laugh. 100% banger.
7. The King And Queen of Gasoline by Hot Milk
British pop punk duo hot milk has been on my radar for a couple years now but with their new EP they got a place in my heart for sure. This song in particular is so catchy, that after a single listen it got stuck in my head for days. I couldn't figure out what it was but then I realized and it hit me. The verse, the guitar riff and the chorus are all so unforgettable that there's no way someone forgets them in this century after a couple listens. The lyrics are as emo as ever, which of course were also appealing to me. Their earlier song that I really love is 'I Think I Hate Myself' which has major Welcome To The Black Parade vibes in its bridge and its solo, which I thought was worth mentioning since that also come out recently before this EP. Both are amazing songs by an amazing band.
6. Masterpiece by Motionless In White
Some people in the metalcore community always judge MIW for being a Breaking Benjamin turned goth cover band and, well, they're not entirely wrong. Chris Motionless has absolutely been heavily influenced by Benjamin Burley's vocal takes as every clean chorus he writes, could be on either Phobia or Dear Agony by the aforementioned band. Masterpiece though is not just a BB cover, it's also a masterpiece. It brought the band a place as nr. 1. on the Mainstream Rock Airplay, being their biggest achievement since 2013. They absolutely deserve it, as the song and the whole album works greatly as a getaway drug to metalcore and metal in general. MIW, BMTH, Bad Omens and Architects are absolutely today's Linkin Parks and Slipknots as far as spreading heavy music goes.
5. The Foundations of Decay by My Chemical Romance
This song was the biggest surprise release of the year for me. Not just because we haven't got a new official release from the band in nearly a decade (except the rerelease of The Black Parade and Fake Your Death from their best of album), but because the song really really differs from the last official album of MCR. Danger Days was almost a pop record with bangers all around and TFOD compared to this is like a completely different band, reminiscing on the eras way before The Black Parade, their most successful record yet. The production of this song is the only questionable thing about it, the vocals are really low-mixed, the guitars however are as punk and grungy as it gets. It even has a breakdown. Very nice surprise from Gerard and the boys.
4. Strangers by Bring Me The Horizon
Whoever knows me knows that I'm a huge fan of BMTH. I love everything they've done from amo to Count Your Blessings. They're the only band in the scene that dictate the current style of metalcore writing and producing. The songwriting duo of Jordan Fish and Oli Sykes is unquestionably one of the best at ther job in the past like 20 years, they can do whatever the fuck they want to do with music and people are gonna enjoy it. With the Post Human EP series they celebrate genres they love and pay homage to them by mixing them with their own style. This is what happened in their last EP, Survival Horror as well. Back then they chose NU metal for the style. Right now in this album cycle this style is emo. With both singles heavily influenced by emo bands, Strangers stood out for me because of the unexpected 6/8 time signature. Brings me back to the good old days with Brand New and Taking Back Sunday on repeat.
3. Anabolic Spudsman (thique edition) by Bilmuri feat Will Ramos and Spencer Stewart
This song is probably the most random entry on this list. I'm very surprised Bilmuri is not mentioned as one of the most innovative bands of the scene right now. This song is so unexpected and fun that I can't even categorize it in a genre. Or multiple. This song is all over the place. It has a really catchy verse and pop-ish vibes, well, except the current king of deathore himself Will Ramos is serving his time as the backing vocalist in the meanwhile. The chorus would fit in a Billboard Nr. 1. song, it's that poppy. Then around 2 minutes the breakdown hits, Will screams our butts off, aaaand we're back to the pop vocals for the rest of the bridge. Then the biggest surprise, a fucking saxophone solo. This song is amazingly unexpected, well-written and all over the place, I love it.
2. Call Me Little Sunshine by Ghost
Yes I have to mention Ghost. Impera was released in March and was on repeat for me for the rest of the year. The first single Call Me Little Sunshine was never skipped. The guitar riff reminded me of their song Cirice, the lyrical theme of course was about Satan, who else, and the production was raised to the next level by Papa and the Ghouls. The live version featuring the Ghoulettes' backing vocals is even better than the album edit. The rest of the album is great as well, honorable mentions are Spillways, Respite on the Spitalfields and Kaiserion. With this easy to play doomy song they showed that there's still that edge in them despite growing more popular with each release (Looking at you tiktokers listening to Mary On A Cross).
Pain Remains (I-II-III) by Lorna Shore
Technically my first place is 3 songs in one. This is gonna be the longest song review so bare with me. Lorna Shore has been around for a while with multiple vocalist and several other member changes. They never stood out for me from the crowd, as I've never been the biggest deathcore fan myself. But I have to admit, the whole record Pain Remains singlehandedly saved deathcore overnight for me. Obviously they needed a charismatic new frontman, a couple of catchy symphonic elements (which were always there but were left ignored by me for some reason) and reaction channels and tiktok hyping up their upcoming album. When the first Pain Remains was released, I thought I was witnessing history being written. It was a freaking deathcore ballad, with more genuine emotions than the When We Were Young festival's whole lineup. The videos are also well made and tell a story about a man losing his lover which causes him to go down on a depressive spiral, ultimately ending his own life. The trilogy has also several callbacks to itself. Dancing Like Flames' fire comes back in the third act, In A Sea Of FIre as the fire that burns down our protagonist's house and life with all of his memories about his love. The most disturbing one is the second act, After All That I've Done, I Disappear, where he tries to end his own life right next to his wife's casket after her funeral, but failing in the end. The first 2 songs have solved the whole genre's only problem for me, which was the lack of emotion and genuineness. The raw emotion in the 'A World Without You Is Not Meant For Me' scream has me shivering every time I hear it. They made a truly amazing record with Pain Remains and I really hope they continue to do so with similar projects in the future.

Bring Me The Horizon Merespon Masa Pandemi Dengan Merilis Single ‘Parasite Eve’

My Favorite Songs of 2019- The First Half
At the end of the year I try to remember what my favorite songs of the year are, but it’s so hard to think back. So I’m making this list so it’s easier for me to remember the earlier releases of the year when 2019 comes to an end. These are all from June 30th and earlier.
1. Beast in Black - Die by the Blade
Beast in Black is a fairly new, but incredible band. Every single one of their songs sounds like a grand, epic war anthem, and this song is no different. It’s way better than the title track of this album in my opinion. I’ve been listening to this song almost every day for a few months and it hasn’t gotten old or worn out at all. Beast in Black is absolutely legendary and I can’t wait to see what they put out next.
2. A.C.E - Undercover
A.C.E was my third favorite kpop group for the last 2 years since their debut, but after this song, they’re my #1. Honestly, I knew they’d probably end up being my favorite at some point, but I wasn’t sure if they’d continue putting out stuff that was as good as their first couple songs. This song isn’t hardstyle like their first two title tracks were, but instead they’ve gone for a modern rock sound. I will miss the hardstyle if they don’t continue with it but this song is really good and proves that they don’t need to stick to their original sound to keep creating amazing work. I would’ve put “Do it Like Me” from the same album on this list too but since they performed it at concerts last year I’m not counting it as a 2019 song. Also, this would’ve been my #1 if it weren’t for the fact that I don’t how the song starts that much, and some of the rap parts are a little bit over the top.
3. Queensryche - Blood of the Levant
I honestly never paid attention to Queensryche until recently when i got free tickets to see one of their concerts. I knew about them vaguely but wasn’t too familiar with their discography, so I listened to some of their music before going and I was really impressed by this song, and even more impressed that it just came out this year. It was great live, too. I really regret not caring about Queensryche sooner.
4. Slipknot - Unsainted
Slipknot is yet another band that’s pretty consistent but experimental at the same time. Every song they make has the signature Slipknot sound, but it’s not so similar that it doesn’t sound new. This song implements a choir in the beginning which builds up and leads into the rest of the song nicely, and then the rest is pretty much what you’d expect from any Slipknot title: intense shouting-based verses with a lighter chorus sung with clean vocals.
5. Oneus - Valkyrie
This is Oneus’s first ever song released, which is really impressive. This song sounds so mystical and flows so nicely (except for the awkward rap breakdown.) It sounds like the type of thing you’d hear from an established artist on their 7th album. If the awkward rap part was replaced with something that went better with the rest of the song it would easily make my list of favorite songs ever.
6. Motionless in White - Disguise
Motionless in White probably had one of the best transitions in style of any band from the emo/scene mid-2000s deathcore era. They’ve developed a very unique signature sound and this song is just another example of that. The only part I don’t like is the shouting that comes after the chorus. If it weren’t for that I’d like it a lot more and it would probably be #3.
7. Beast in Black - From Hell With Love
Not one of Beast in Black’s best songs, but literally everything by them is good so that’s not too much of a bad thing. If another band released this, it would probably be one of their best. The chorus is great but the verses are a bit weak.
8. Oneus - Twilight
I don’t care for this song as much as Valkyrie, and I didn’t like it that much the first time I heard it, but I liked it a lot more upon a second listen. I think my main issue with it is that the first chorus comes in way too quickly. If there was another verse and more buildup, I think it would improve the song a lot.
9. Motionless in White - Brand New Numb
This song is pretty good, just as most of Motionless in White’s discography, but I feel like it’s missing some of their special sound. It’s a little too generic mainstream rock for them in my opinion. But, taken out of that context, it’s a really good song.
10. Bring Me The Horizon - Sugar Honey Ice & Tea
I was super into BMTH back in their deathcore days, but not so much with their newer stuff. I listened to Medicine when it came out, didn’t like it, and didn’t bother with the rest of the album. But a few days ago they put out a music video for this song, so I decided to check it out, and now I regret ignoring the album. It’s a lot better than Medicine and fits BMTH more.
11. Andy Black - Westwood Road
If I lived in an alternate universe where Black Veil Brides didn’t exist and Andy was only a solo artist I probably wouldn’t care about him. But, since he’s the founder of my favorite band, I listen to all of the music he puts out. I didn’t end up liking most of the new album but this song grew on me after a few listens. It’s really chill and makes good background music.
12. EXID - Me & You
EXID is my favorite girl group but this definitely isn’t my favorite song by them. It kind of sounds like two different songs mashed together that would sound better separated. But the individual sections are good on their own and the ending is really good.
13. Eun Jiwon - I’m On Fire
I know nothing about Eun Jiwon, or heard anything else by him, but I’m a fan of his group Sechskies so I gave this a listen when it came out, and it’s pretty good. It sounds like classic 90′s YG style.
14. Overkill - Welcome to the Garden State
Overkill is one of those 80s metal bands that never really suffered any decline in quality, and their latest album is yet another example of their talent. The reason it’s not higher is because it’s just not really special. If another band put this out, I’d probably think more highly of it, it’s just a little too generic for what I expect from Overkill.
15. Falling in Reverse - Drugs
Falling in Reverse is one of my biggest guilty pleasure bands. Drugs is definitely one of their messier and cringier songs, and the verses are weak, but the chorus is really energetic and this song also features Corey Taylor. So, it just barely makes the list.
Honorable mentions:
Candlemass - Astorolus - The Great Octopus
Stray Kids - Side Effects
Monsta X - Alligator
Dreamcatcher - PIRI
Wind Rose - Diggy Diggy Hole (I hate that this exists but Wind Rose made it sound so good)
Yohio - My Nocturnal Serenade
Sekai no Owari - Food
Apink - %%
Lies Behind Your Eyes - Eyes Open Wide

Bring Me The Horizon; Ten Tracks That Made Them.
Hello.
I guess in a free time, putting out tunes that you’ve been on recently is fun. I always admire heavy music since when i was very young and ever since, there were an absolut pleasure to be a part of it.
I should never choose the praised icons this time on. Because the time you only live up Metallica or Gun’s N’ Roses, is the time you kill the next generation of heavy music. After all, this decade was a tremendous signifficant time for some newborn heroes that broke out. The Sheffield’s now heavy metal heavyweight, Bring Me The Horizon, is one of the brightest torchbearer. I pick up the 10 most remarkable tracks over their catalogue that sign them from a garage-overhyped-noisy-ass motherfuckers to the premium hooligans.
Here we go in a particular order.
10. It Never Ends (There’s A Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen it, There’s A Heaven Let’s Keep It A Secret, 2010).
Opened up by gnarl low-end guitar, It Never Ends marked as the catchiest yet nastiest track in the album setlist. Uquipped with celestial electronic and goddess gang vocal layer, the hit single was a solid prototype and premonition of the future emerging force. And now that being true.
9. Diamonds Aren’t Forever (Suicide Season, 2008).
It requires a high energy track to move moshpits in a savage intention. Dropped-tuning chuggings in a blazing hardcore frame blows like flood that drown and harsh gutsy driven vocal which Diamonds has, is the one to pick out as it satisfying the opening gravel words which came up “We will never sleep, ‘cause sleep is for the weak. No, we will never rest, 'till we’re all fucking dead!”
8. Avalanche (That’s The Spirit, 2015).
An Oliver Sykes’s ADHD protest pays the due in very signifficant ability. “Cut me open and tell me what’s inside” first obligation groans along with Lee Malia's tendering dimension of highly resonated riff. Ever since, this particular remedy-begging song assembled in an arsenal of open air duty for good.
7. Follow You (That’s The Spirit, 2015).
This one might not be what the Sheffield’s juggernaut suppose to be. It is the shimmering poetry that heals a blistered anger and a devotion for belonging. That’s The Spirit clearly pronounces the band’s existence and ambition level that breaks the limit.
6. Alligator Blood (There’s A Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen it, There’s A Heaven Let’s Keep It A Secret, 2010).
The most intense and furious engaged in a maximum capability as the past duo, Lee Malia and Jona Weinhoffen teamed up in a fierce hellish metalcore-ian riff-o-rama. The band was (and still is) a Shakespeare of hurts and blood. It is all over the emo lyric of the track.
5. Throne (That’s The Spirit, 2015).
The Linkin Park admiration invoked for the soundtrack of spirit carries on yell. Presented in a Game of Thrones scenes, Throne is the major powerhouse tune for stadium arena blasts where 80.000 people up the fists and with the band-conquering everything. This could be the big time success of song that hails Bring Me The Horizon in upstart commercial elite class.
4. Pray For Plagues (Count Your Blessings, 2006).
The classic supergun from pre selling out era of the band where the youth were bunch of ruthless and ferocious deathcore motherfuckers. Pray For Plagues was a portrait of violent beginning and bell for a big door to be opened in another day.
3. Doomed (That’s The Spirit, 2015).
Saturating the umbrella fortress to “So come rain on my parade” sing-along soaring chorus perhaps is the uncontending opening track for the album. Now you can’t stop the Oliver Sykes’s raging outspoken nihilistic side that seems bursting in a heaviest way none of prior was ever be.
2. The House of Wolves (Sempiternal, 2013).
The finest heavy metal song of all over BMTH’s catalogue as the command for a direct attack to religion in a bastard words for words. Once again, Sykes shreds them in more than prophetian could bear. Though, in absolute opposite standout. “I"ll bow for your king when He shows himself” is the serious verification.
1. Can You Feel My Heart (Sempiternal, 2013).
One of the most brilliant hook and obviously the opening of the celebration of depression album, for God’s sake. A pretty enchanting corporation of huge riffs and uplifting cinematical synth could always be upon your darkest feeling. The witchman, Jordan Fish makes this the easiest job to do as the addition totally impacting the band to the turning point of musical direction. The irresistible admittance of sickness and hopelessness adrift in a perpetual night where death comprehends and rendered. Can You Feel My Heart is an unruly march and monarch of the fallen.

- the intro and the glitchy interludes are nowadays’ bmth, they just sound like this could be a bonus track of amo
- the verses sound like a post-grunge/hard rock era of them which was around That’s The Spirit IMO
- Oli sounds like a beast with probably his full vocal range and with soft backing vocals from Jordan
- the lyrics are typical at this point, about “sticks and stones” like in Empire or the rebellion of Antivist in the chorus
- the screams, everything from his newly developed high pitched squealing (which kinda reminds me of Marilyn Manson) to their deathcore roots in the breakdown are fucking amazing
- and last but not least the breakdown, oh my fucking god this breakdown is the best one they wrote since sempiternal
- has the nastiest growl Oli has shouted in almost a decade, the guitars sound more like on the oldest albums, everything about the breakdown is just perfect
Unpopular opinion: Ludens is the most BMTH song ever made
