@pinkflamingosims asked me about using the Collections feature in Sims 2 so I whipped up a little tutorial
In buy or build mode, click on the Collections icon. It looks like a folder
This will take you to the collection screen, it might take a second to open if you've sorted a lot of stuff into it
There will be some collection folders already in there that Maxis made. Clicking on a folder with show you everything in it on the screen to the right
You can organize, modify, add, and delete collections using the buttons I circled in yellow. I've made collections for aesthetics (desert, kids room, industrial), for community lots (bakery, flower shop, military/police station), and I left the Maxis collections that show what came with each EP
Now go back to the main Buy or Build Mode tab and click on an object. In the screen that pops up there's an Add to Collection icon in the lower right. Some things can't be put into collections, like fences, but most things can, even walls and floors
This screen will pop up and you can pick which collection to put it in
I use collections in 2 ways.
Any add-ons I have that are repo'd to Maxis stuff gets put in the collection folder for that EP. This way I can easily find things that match a Maxis item I'm using
I also use them to make decorating easier and remind me of the recolors I have for various things. If I'm building a tropical lot I might not think to use the Lack side table because of how it looks in the catalog picture but adding it to my Tropical collection will remind me that I made tropical recolors for it
You can add new icons to use when creating collections by going to Documents->EA Games-> Sims 2-> Collections -> and adding any appropriately sized .bmp files to the Icons folder. I've made some icons, I can't find the link right now but they should be in my Downloads tag
Feel free to send me asks if there are any questions. Happy simming!

Got my EKG and the 2-way Chest x-rays done after work yesterday.
Though my bmp/heartrate wasn't triple digits like it can get to lately, the nurse did say I was slightly tachycardic. She said normal/average is anywhere between 50 and 80, so I'm assuming that I was probably in the mid to high 90s, which is believable. I walked down only one short hallway and then was sat down. While I felt my heartbeat, it wasn't enough to fully show how quick it spikes.
The last time I checked it on my own was when grocery shopping with my mother during the transition week between July and August, and just walking consistently through the isles had my heartrate at 144bmp according to my watch.
As for the chest x-rays, I had two done: a straight on view and a side view. Given it's a holiday weekend, I won't see those results show until probably Tuesday according to the nurses. However, I don't see my doctor this upcoming Tuesday so I'm sure that I'll be told those results at my next appointment with her.
In the meantime, I'm going to do what my doctor suggested as to just try to keep as my energy saved as I can, since the anemia and thrombocytopenia have been causing me massive fatigue. The B12 shots that I'll be getting for the next 6 months will help me feel a bit better, but more needs to be done to get me back in better health.
I'm just racking up the medical bills as this point lmao. Before finally seeing my new doctor I already was at $4,000+ that I keep having to adjust the payment plan for when a new bill gets added on. I actually hit my dang deductible this year between therapy, psychiatry, my carpel tunnel (De Quervain syndrome) surgery, upcoming phsyical therapy sessions, etc. I've watched my monthly payments go from being in the $30 range to now being $110 a month. :'3
I'm gonna go back to eating now.

How to Print a Digital Download from Etsy
The whole downloaded-file-to-framed-print-on-your-wall process breaks down like this:
- Save the file you purchased to your computer or thumbdrive.
- Take the file to a job printer and get it printed to the size you want.
- Take the printed file to a framer, and have it framed so it fits your décor.
Digital files are often much, much cheaper on Etsy than buying their physical item counterparts. Plus, when you buy a digital file, you can finetune it to the exact size you want for your own wall. And once it’s printed, you can also choose the exact framing and matting combination you want.
Now, the details:
You were on Etsy or an artist’s website, and you fell in love with an image. Perfect for your wall, but you’re not sure how the whole printing thing works.
Not to worry! Lots of people use printable downloads every day for party decorations, invites, or coloring pages for kids (using their own home printer, if they have one), or for higher quality prestige printing for smashing wall art. The following is a list of steps for accessing your digital downloads, and how to turn them into art you’ll be proud to see on your wall.
So, what’s a digital download, or ‘printable’? It’s not a physical object; it’s an image file, in the form of 1s and 0s, saved on your computer or a thumbdrive. You bought it, you keep it, and you can always print it, as many times as you like. You can copy the file to two or three locations, so you don’t lose it.
Digital downloads come in various formats, including PDF, JPG, PNG, SVG, EPS, and more. Each type of file depends on what you need to use it for and how you are going to print it. Printing services will specify which formats they need.
Etsy places the file to your account in the orders section and you can download it on a desktop. They’ll also send you an email with a link to it.
Or, log into your account and click on “Purchases and Reviews.” Find the button that says “Download Files”. If you run into troubles, there’s a Help page. (Remember, you can’t access your digital download file through the mobile Etsy app.)
Now that it’s downloaded, you can open your file, just to check whether you have the right image at the right size. You’ll need to use the right software.
.bmp (Microsoft Windows Photos, Apple Preview or Apple Photos, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW)
.doc (Microsoft Word)
.gif (Microsoft Windows Photos, Apple Preview or Apple Photos, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW)
.jpeg (Microsoft Windows Photos, Apple Preview or Apple Photos, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW)
.jpg (Microsoft Windows Photos, Apple Preview or Apple Photos, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW)
.mobi (Calibre, Stanza, Sumatra PDF, Mobi File Reader, popular eReaders)
.mov (QuickTime, iTunes)
.mp3 (Windows Media Player or iTunes)
.mpeg (Windows Media Player, QuickTime)
.pdf (Adobe Acrobat Reader, Most Internet Browsers)
.png (Microsoft Windows Photos, Apple Preview or Apple Photos, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW)
.psp (Corel PaintShop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, ACD Systems Canvas)
.rtf (Microsoft Word, WordPad)
.stl (AutoDesk Viewer, Microsoft 3D Viewer, Microsoft Print 3D, ShareCAD)
.txt (Windows NotePad, TextEdit on Mac)
.zip (Usually, you can unzip a .zip file with any computer.)
.ePUB (Various eReaders)
.iBook (Internet browser or Apple iBooks)
You can print image files on home printers. This is great for low-resolution art up to 8.5” x 11”, like recipes, or sewing instructions. The downside here is that the print will only be as good as the printer itself. For larger wall art, the best move is to take your file to a professional printshop.
This can be done online, or it can be done in person. Local Walgreens and Costcos are often quite good. You can upload your saved image file to them using their official website, and just pick up your image, printed the size you specify, on the paper you choose, the next time you’re in the neighborhood. There are also online choices like Shutterfly or Vistaprint, who will ship you your prints in the mail.
You’ve got your print, and you love it. But it’s just a big piece of paper right now; what about framing? One easy option is to select a standard sized frame, mat and glass available at the local stores or mall shops, and insert your new print yourself. Or maybe your print deserves first-cabin treatment, and you’ll want to check out the local frame shop for the right frame, matting and glass. Either way, totally legit. Then just hang it on the wall, and enjoy.
And that’s the whole process. Before you buy a digital download, you should check a couple of things:
- Be sure you have the software you’ll need to open the download at home, or be sure you know where online to find a site that will open the image (such as Photopea.com, for opening a layered .psd file, if you don’t happen to have Photoshop on your own machine).
- Be sure you understand the optimum print size of the download and its aspect ratio. Artists generally will inform you that their image will look best at a certain size, say, 24” x 18”. Printing it larger will seem overblown, with visible pixellation; printing it smaller will cause it to lose detail.
In other words, make sure the digital download fits your needs before you buy.
+++++++++++++

My Own BMP Paint Sample!
After a failed attempt at getting paint mixed in B&Q, my mum suggested trying the Dulux shop instead. We went with pretty low hope, and after a conversation they said if I had a physical copy of the colour (instead of the codes or a photo on my phone) they would be able to scan it and create a colour match. The book, ‘Feminists Wear Pink and other lies’ by Scarlett Curtis, cover is the exact shade of BMP so I took this back and they made a colour match! When I left here, I went to the Range and bought a range of canvases, paintbrushes and Posca pens (paint markers) for my Poster presentation.
Painted Canvas:
I made a start at painting my canvases, I started with only 2 to see how the paint applied and the outcome of how it dries - the man in the Dulux shop said there is possibility of it drying lighter or darker but he was unsure unless it has been tested. From the photos I took straight away, I am extremely happy with the likeness to the cover of the book and I think it should dry more-or-less a perfect match. I will use these canvases for the base of my poster and I either plan on using Posca pens to write the information on or typing and printing information then sticking it directly onto the canvas.

Optimizing Shopify Website Speed: 4 Tips from a Shopify Developer
In the ever-evolving world of e-commerce, having a fast and responsive website is crucial for success. If you're using Shopify as your e-commerce platform, you're in luck because it offers a robust foundation for building an online store. However, to ensure that your Shopify store performs at its best, you need to optimize it for speed. In this blog, we'll explore four tips for Shopify website development to help you build a faster website and improve your online business.
1. Choose the Right Theme:
One of the first decisions you'll make when setting up your Shopify store is selecting a theme. Your theme dictates the overall look and functionality of your website. However, not all themes are created equal when it comes to speed optimization. It's crucial to choose a theme that is well-coded and designed for performance.
Here are some tips for selecting the right theme:
Lightweight: Opt for a theme that is lightweight and doesn't include unnecessary features or bloated code. A lean theme will load faster and provide a better user experience.
Mobile-Friendly: Ensure that the theme is responsive and mobile-friendly. With the increasing use of mobile devices for online shopping, a mobile-optimized theme is essential for faster load times on smartphones and tablets.
Reviews and Recommendations: Read reviews and seek recommendations from other Shopify store owners who have used the theme you're considering. Their experiences can give you valuable insights into a theme's performance.
Customization Options: Look for a theme that offers customization options, so you can tailor it to your brand's unique requirements while still maintaining optimal performance.
Remember that you can always consult with a Shopify store development company to help you choose the right theme that aligns with your speed optimization goals.
2. Optimize Images and Videos:
Visual content plays a significant role in e-commerce, but it can also slow down your website if not optimized properly. High-resolution images and videos can cause longer load times, leading to a poor user experience. To maintain both the visual appeal and speed of your Shopify store, follow these image and video optimization tips:
Compress Images: Before uploading images to your store, compress them using tools like TinyPNG or ImageOptim. This reduces the file size without compromising image quality.
Use Proper File Formats: Choose the right file formats for images. For photographs, use JPEG, while PNG is better for images with transparency. Avoid using BMP or TIFF, which are large and slow to load.
Lazy Loading: Implement lazy loading for images and videos. This technique only loads media as the user scrolls down the page, reducing the initial load time.
Content Delivery Network (CDN): Utilize a CDN to distribute your media content across multiple servers worldwide. This can significantly improve loading times for users in different geographic locations.
3. Minimize Third-Party Apps:
Shopify offers an extensive app store with a wide range of third-party apps that can enhance your store's functionality. While these apps can be beneficial, they can also slow down your website if not used judiciously. Every app you install adds code to your site, potentially leading to performance issues.
Here's how you can optimize your use of third-party apps:
Evaluate Necessity: Regularly review the apps you've installed and assess whether they are still necessary for your store's operation. Remove any apps that you no longer use.
App Quality: Choose apps from reputable developers who prioritize performance and optimization. Read reviews and do some research before adding new apps to your store.
Minimize Code Overhead: Some apps load their code on every page of your website, even if their functionality is only required on specific pages. Work with a developer to reduce the code overhead and make sure apps load only where needed.
4. Caching and Page Speed Optimization:
Shopify provides built-in caching mechanisms and other features to enhance page speed. However, it's crucial to understand how to utilize these tools effectively:
Browser Caching: Leverage browser caching to store static assets locally on users' devices. This reduces the need to re-download assets on subsequent visits, resulting in faster load times.
Content Delivery Network (CDN): As mentioned earlier, using a CDN can help distribute content to users from the nearest server, reducing latency and improving page speed.
Minify CSS and JavaScript: Minification involves removing unnecessary white spaces and characters from CSS and JavaScript files, making them smaller and quicker to load.
Regularly Update Shopify: Ensure that your Shopify store is always up-to-date, as updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.
Monitor Performance: Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, or Shopify's built-in performance dashboard to regularly monitor your store's performance. This helps identify areas for improvement.
By implementing these four tips, you can build a faster Shopify website that not only enhances the user experience but also positively impacts your search engine rankings. Keep in mind that speed optimization is an ongoing process, and staying vigilant about your website's performance will pay off in the long run. If you're not confident in your ability to implement these strategies, consider working with a Shopify developer to ensure your store runs at its best and delivers a top-notch shopping experience to your customers.
