"Well, you kinda did, but it's ok." Harry replied, glancing down when he felt his ex take his hand. Frankly, he had missed this. Missed them... But he would never admit it out loud. The two of them had been good together, really good, but life had simply got in the way. "Just promise things won't get too awkward... We need to get the story straight too."

"You actually think that this is a good idea?" Harry turned to look at his ex, offering the other young man a blank stare. "You and me, in the same place for an extended period of time, pretending like everything is good?" Frankly, inside, the thought of it was killing him. He really had been in love with Jamie, breaking up hurt him a great deal, and having to face his family after that - even if it was fake - wasn't great.

“C’mon I’m not saying we have to make out or anything,” Jamie defended his proposal, letting out a huff. “You know it’d break their hearts, they were telling everyone we were going to get married and everything. Just come on this vacation, get free food, pretend you don’t hate me and then we don’t have to talk about it ever again,”

"Do you want me to answer that?" Harry raised an eyebrow, however he fell silent when he heard the words that Jamie continued with, his chest aching a little at the reminder that his mother wasn't doing too great. A sigh passed his lips and he shook his head. "No, it's- Look, I'll do it. For your mom."

"Yeah. Except for why I've not been around lately. I guess I can just say I've been busy with work, so it's fine." There was a strange amount of pressure that he was feeling at the thought of facing his family and lying to their face, not to mention pretending to still be happily in love with Jamie. Sure, he was still in love with the guy, but it wasn't happily, that was certain. "No problem then. Just tell me where I need to be and when."

"What story do we need to get straight? We're absolutely in love. Nothing's happened." Jamie said with a little shrug, stroking at Harry's knuckles with his thumb before he pulled his hand away, not wanting to push his luck too far. "I promise I won't let it get awkward and we can have a codeword or something if we feel uncomfortable."
